Best Chinese, definitely in the region!

We had an incredibly delicious meal at Cheung Kwong, ranging from delicious sushi to beef tenderloin tips, short ribs, yakitori, and many other tasty dishes. Cheung Kwong also has its own beers from Brouwdok; the double beer was delicious. As for the rest, I have no idea since the tripel and blond were out of stock. Too bad! You get fireworks with every round, which is fun the first time, but after that, we didn't want it anymore. We mentioned this to the staff, but unfortunately, nothing was done about it. The whole experience, including the delicious food, makes me want to give 5 stars, were it not for the spam that I certainly didn't sign up for afterwards. For instance, I received messages via both email and WhatsApp within a few hours asking me to leave a review, something that, in my opinion, a good establishment shouldn't push.

The shared dining is a fun and well-functioning concept. The food is of good quality, and the service is friendly and well-done. The only downside for me was that the portions at the shared dining were so large that you had to agree with the whole table on what you were going to eat, or suddenly have a huge portion to finish. But on the other hand, you never go without ;)

What a lovely place to sit comfortably and enjoy a delicious meal. Friendly service, a wide variety of dishes to choose from, and everything tasted equally good. The way some dishes are presented at the table adds an extra nice dimension to the evening. We would love to come back again.

Experienced Sushi Madness on Wednesday and the atmosphere was great! We were welcomed very warmly and were able to place our order at our leisure. The sushi was freshly prepared and served in a spectacular way with fireworks and smoke. And you can definitely taste that it is fresh! There is plenty of choice. Personally, I felt there was a bit too much sauce, such as mayonnaise, on the sushi, but of course, you can simply mention this when ordering. Had a delicious meal, nice atmosphere, and friendly staff. Definitely recommended!

I had come across this restaurant a few times on Instagram, so we went here for dinner yesterday. My expectations were more than met. We were received with great hospitality. The staff was very welcoming and friendly. The food was truly fantastic 🤩 I have eaten a lot of sushi, but this was by far the best! Huge compliments. We definitely recommend this restaurant and we will certainly be coming back more often! A minor point: we had to ask for the drinks we ordered a few times, but eventually that was resolved as well.

The food wasn't served at the same time; one person was already eating when the other received theirs while the first one had already finished. Cold. Not much. What a lousy place. I also spoke to you about it. You thought you were a hip Chinese guy. You scrapped the fried banana that was served when I had already finished my food off the bill. We are never eating at your place again. There were 7 of us, and everyone was disappointed with the food.

Simply very good and a beautiful place, nice and smooth atmosphere and top food. Try calling that simple! Definitely give this an evening, it is super cozy and certainly worth it!

Truly the best sushi I have ever eaten!

The experience was very good. The food was truly fantastic. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to taste everything, so we have to go back. Tip: We had the date experience. But answering very intimate questions based on the card, while the table next to you can hear everything, is something you really have to be in the mood for! Luckily, we were able to keep the conversation going.

Your sushi truly deserves 5 stars. It offers a slightly different experience compared to others. It’s great that the sushi rice isn't ice-cold—at many places, everything is prepared in large quantities in advance, but at your place, you can taste that it’s fresh. For the other dishes, such as the daging smoor and the truffle fries, I would halve the portions. That way, you won't be too full after just two bites, leaving room to try more. And a nice bonus: less food waste! The atmosphere and ambiance are top-notch.

I have already gone to eat at Cheung Kwong a few times with various friends and my wife. The atmosphere is extremely cozy and snug; it feels like home. It features beautiful, modern Chinese decor. The owner is a very cheerful and friendly man, which also rubs off on the staff. The waitresses are enthusiastic, funny, nice, and professional. The food is delicious; you get plenty of portions. The shared dining concept lives up to its name at Cheung Kwong. The presentation of the dishes also really appeals to me and is very inviting. I read the good reviews and made a reservation. Once inside, we could choose between shared dining for 2.5 or 3.5 hours for a fixed price (excluding drinks and any dessert), or an “à la carte” dish. We each wanted an à la carte dish -> as far as I know, that means a main course sufficient for a single person's meal. Well, not here; it turned out to be a small dish for a hefty price; that way, you are automatically ‘forced’ to choose shared dining. We paid for the drinks and left. We didn't eat there. We had a delicious and pleasant meal on the square at Grand Café deDoelen.

I ate here for the first time last Saturday. I had already heard many good things, and that is absolutely true! It has a lovely atmosphere and friendly staff. But let's not forget the truly delicious and fresh food. And beautifully presented.

Yesterday we went to eat at Cheung Kwong, after being captivated by it via social media (spectacular videos). Unfortunately, we soon had to conclude that this is primarily a clever marketing stunt and that the online promises have nothing to do with the actual taste experience. Prices: The food and drinks are very pricey compared to other sushi restaurants in the area. Quality: The food itself was fine to eat, but absolutely not special or worth the high price when considering the price-quality ratio. Service: The staff was very friendly, but we missed proactiveness. We were barely asked if we wanted another drink or to order. Conclusion: All in all, we did have a meal, but it was absolutely not special and certainly not worth repeating. Don't let yourself be misled too much by the beautiful videos on social media!

Last Tuesday was our first time at Cheung Kwong. Of course, we had looked at photos and such beforehand, but wow... they far exceeded all expectations! All the staff members were super friendly and helpful; you can really tell they enjoy their work. We also thought the atmosphere was great. The restaurant is nicely decorated. For example, you aren't sitting crammed together. The decor was also very modern and warm. Nice music was playing, but it wasn't too loud, so you could have a pleasant chat at a normal volume. And then the food... wow! I'm still a bit speechless. You can really taste that it is made with care and love, and especially that truly high-quality ingredients are used. The fish and sushi tasted incredibly fresh, and the meat was all very tender and very flavorful. Finally, the presentation of the food is beautiful! If you order multiple sushi dishes, they are presented in a special way on a beautiful platter with a sparkler and dry ice (making it look like they are emerging from the smoke). The portion size is also top-notch! We were certainly very impressed 🩷 In short: highly recommended, and they will definitely see me back!

The only thing I find a small downside is the reminders to leave a review; I am never one to write reviews about restaurants, etc. But here I get 4 reminders that I haven't left a review yet, and even via WhatsApp. I understand that it is important for a restaurant to receive reviews, but if someone doesn't want to, then you respect that.

This was our first time and we were really looking forward to it, also because the reviews were very good. There are good and not-so-good points I would like to mention: Friendly welcome, good explanation of how it worked, the ordering process was also quick, the food was average. There were some really delicious items, but also some less good dishes (this is on a personal basis). What we liked less: We found it quite dark inside, the music was way too loud, and if your partner has a hearing problem, having a conversation becomes difficult; the air conditioning was set so cold that I had to switch places with my partner. It was warm that day, but in my opinion, it wasn't necessary to be that cold. And there were others who were bothered by it too. We stayed for 3.5 hours, but were back outside after 2 hours. We did pay for 3.5 hours, though. We are glad we went here, otherwise you can't judge... but for us, it is not worth repeating.

What a wonderful experience at this restaurant in Franeker. Everything we were served not only looked beautiful but also tasted fantastic. The highlight of the evening was undoubtedly the spectacle at the table when the dishes were served with a sparkling sparkler. That immediately gave the food a festive touch. The presentation with fresh ingredients such as the red chili and fresh coriander completed the experience perfectly. We had a wonderful evening here.

A lovely place for an evening out. We booked the date concept yesterday. Here, you receive a deck of cards (with questions) and a box to store your phone in. This leads to fun conversations &, of course, delicious food. Our hostess was also fantastic! We will definitely be back again.

I had to wait at least half an hour for my order because telephone orders took priority; I don't consider that good service. Secondly, everything was lukewarm, not hot. And the leek and ham were not distributed throughout the entire bowl of noodles, only on top. And thirdly, I ordered extra noodles and received nasi.

We ate at Cheung Kwong for the first time tonight. We are spoiled sushi eaters, but your sushi surpasses everything; it is so delicious, like an angel peeing on your tongue 🥰 The food, service, and how it is served get a solid 10!

The service and style of the restaurant are very good! It was sometimes difficult to get the wait staff's attention, though. But unfortunately, the food itself was disappointing. We did not finish several dishes completely, but fortunately, they didn't make a fuss about it. The wrong dish was also brought several times. The teppanyaki sauce tasted very sweet and the chicken tasted stale. It was fun to try once, but not worth repeating. For 45pp, you can dine at Fuji Assen including unlimited drinks and unlimited desserts with tastier food (though perhaps slightly less atmosphere).

We can highly recommend this restaurant. Even if you have to drive a bit further to get there, it is really worth the effort. It is better to make a reservation first, though.

Not really a typical Chinese restaurant (by Dutch standards), but more Asian fusion. Our choices (Balinese and Thai) didn't taste particularly authentic, but they were delicious. The tjap tjoy was more flavorful than we're used to. Good cocktails. Friendly and hardworking staff. Oh yeah, there were also plenty of fireworks, and not just for birthdays 😄

Expensive and disappointing – I'll never order fish again! I paid €23.00 for sole fillet and got this (see photo): a container of tasteless kibbeling (fried fish). The agreed-upon preparation wasn't followed, no advance warning, and no refund. Never again for us. We placed a takeaway order, with one unusual dish: sole fillet lightly fried in butter. And not with curry sauce. This was specifically for an older person in the group who doesn't like Chinese food. When ordering, the staff member said this wasn't a problem. The price for the sole fillet alone was €23. So expectations were high. What we got: a container of fried fish pieces. It just looked like tasteless kibbeling. Greasy junk, straight in the bin. We went back to report this. The staff member explained that there had been complaints about this before, apologized, and said she understood why we had expected something different. That's precisely why I think they should have clearly stated that they would prepare the fish differently. Then we could have decided for ourselves whether we wanted to order it. No refund, no alternative—this was it. For us, that's why we won't be ordering or picking up food from here again.

The dishes were tasteless, and to make matters worse, we even found a hair in the food—which, of course, immediately ruined the dining experience. Arrived in Friesland today, and then the question what are we going to eat? Then you quickly end up at the snack bar or the Chinese. We chose Chinese because the reviews are generally good. The delivery person was right on time, that was all. The price/quality ratio is completely wrong. The shrimps in filo pastry were so hard that you could bite your teeth on them, the cha chu was drier than a cork, the rice was tasteless and the kulojuk or however you write that was even tougher than the sole of a pair of sneakers from the thrift store. We paid €70 for this, I could have just thrown it in the ditch across the street from us. This is unfortunately not going to happen for me anymore.

The portions were large, also with the soup for example you could not share this, yes then you all have to eat from the same bowl. They come by to record your choices (2 dishes per person at a time). Delicious sushi, the Indonesian stew was sublime and all other Asian dishes were top quality. Service was great and friendly. You could order as often as you wanted. We made a reservation at this restaurant a while ago. I had requested a quiet spot due to medical conditions. This was taken into account when we arrived at the restaurant! The music was also turned down a bit and I could indicate if it was still too loud. We found this very pleasant and hospitable. The food is delicious, the girls who helped us during the service were very friendly and everything is clean. Really recommended. We have no negative points, everything was great.
