Nice restaurant in the Dapperbuurt, with Italian cuisine that is affordable and tasty too, great!

Well folks, this is an authentic, genuine Italian gem on the Dappermarkt!!! Go experience it🙏🏼 First, we enjoyed ourselves on the terrace; olives, top wine. In the evening, inside. Had a delicious meal with the four of us. It was a culinary feast. Fantastic service 😉 Babiche🌹. And the owner puts his Italian heart and soul into the business; you can taste that in his food too. A solid 10🤩

Ordered a pizza and lasagna parmigiana. The lasagna was not delivered, so only one person had dinner. There was no communication that the dish was unavailable. A replacement dish could be prepared, but that took 30 minutes. Extremely disappointing.

Delicious!! A short walk from our AirBnB to this gem! I tried the ravioli filled with ricotta, lemon and figs in a butter sage sauce. Yum! My husband “accidentally” ordered the carbonara classico but it was delicious too! The hostess is a treat.

CIRO 1939 DAPPERSTRAAT...... you are amazing! For us, almost a 'second home'. Your hospitality, quality, and coziness are exactly what our neighborhood needed, and now we have it! We love coming here! The food; everything on the menu is fresh and everything is equally delicious. The service; old-fashioned cozy and incredibly good! A real 'homey feeling' (but without the washing up!). The atmosphere; very relaxed and pleasant. Yes, highly recommended. I think it's worth 5+ stars, but I can't give that. If you want to have a fun evening, enjoying the most delicious dishes and a nice drink, receiving top-notch service with the finest music...... then go to CIRO 1939!

Really delicious pizza at the market

I don't like pesto. I never have. For me, it's always been a sauce that seemed to promise more than it delivered – either too heavy, bland, or simply forgettable. Until I discovered Ciro 1939. I wasn't even going to eat that day. I was just accompanying my family. But the aroma of the restaurant was so good and the service so attentive that the waitress convinced me to try a dish – which wasn't even on the menu. And it was, of course, with pesto sauce. Zero expectations. When the dish arrived and I tasted it, everything made sense. It was balanced in an almost irritatingly precise way. Nothing was superfluous, nothing was lacking. And suddenly, I was in Amsterdam eating the best pesto of my life – better than any I've tasted in Italy. What Ciro 1939 does is not just execute classic recipes well. It's reinterpret them with such mastery that even those who have spent their entire lives avoiding pesto need to stop and reconsider. I left there feeling genuinely surprised. So, in the end, this is just a simple—but very sincere—acknowledgement of my gratitude.

We are three friends from France, and we ate at this restaurant by chance. A table for four was set up for us. We didn't speak English very well, but the very friendly and smiling waiter exchanged a few words with us in French. The manager also spoke a little French. Everyone was very friendly and welcoming, and the pizzas were very good. I highly recommend it.

A place I'd love to return to. The food is incredibly fresh, all my favorite Italian dishes are on the menu, and the service is incredibly friendly. We were truly pampered. The pasta served in a large Parmesan cheese is truly next level. Just thinking about it makes my mouth water again. And then the tiramisu with pistachio... absolutely recommended. The service was top-notch from start to finish. This is one of those places where everything is perfect and you'll want to make another reservation right away.

Ultimately, we opted for à la carte. Despite the restaurant being full, we weren't disappointed. The food was delicious, and the service was incredibly friendly. Thank you for a lovely evening, and it was very kind of Babiche to even put on some of our favorite songs.

The most delicious pasta in town! We've been ordering them for years when they were in De Pijp, and now they're here in Oost—and it seems to have only gotten better since we moved.

We discovered this restaurant by chance, and it was literally one of the best coincidences I've ever had. It was incredibly delicious, and the chef is an artist! 🤌🏽 Even the staff were so kind and helpful. Since not everything on the menu is halal, they explained each dish and its ingredients. They were so cheerful and friendly. The restaurant was quiet and peaceful when we were there, and the overall atmosphere was relaxing and lovely. 💛💛

CIRO 1939: The Surprise Hit I Didn’t See Coming We booked CIRO 1939 on a total whim. Last-minute, zero expectations, and honestly, we live far from the place. This could have turned into one of those “why did we do this?” situations. But that 9.6 rating kept haunting me, so curiosity won. The moment we stepped inside, I understood everything. CIRO 1939 feels like a doorway to Italy. Warm, cozy, atmospheric. The kind of spot where the lighting, the smell, the tables, the background noise, everything just clicks into place. And then Babiche welcomed us. Babiche deserves her own paragraph. She spotted us the second we walked in, greeted us with effortless charm, and immediately set the tone. Very Dutch, very friendly, perfectly aligned with the Italian vibe. She made us feel noticed in the best possible way. It is the kind of moment that shapes the entire experience before the first dish even arrives. Then the food came, and that is when CIRO 1939 truly showed off. The pasta Bolognese was perfect al dente with a sauce that tasted like someone’s nonna made it from memory. Warm, rich, deep. Every bite said this is how it is supposed to be. The pizza was a contender. Crisp base, bold flavor, balanced toppings. Easily competing with some of the best pizzas I have had, and I have had a lot. The carpaccio was fresh, clean, and real. Not frozen, not processed, not the typical supermarket slice pretending to be carpaccio. Every bite tasted intentional. By the end, we looked at each other and thought yes, that 9.6 makes sense. They could even push it higher. Would I go back? Absolutely. Would I recommend it? Already doing it. CIRO 1939 is not just good. It is the kind of place that catches you off guard in the best way and reminds you why discovering new spots is worth it.

Delicious food and a cozy atmosphere!

This restaurant opened near us last June. Tonight was our first time, and the whole evening felt like a warm homecoming. From the warm welcome upon arrival to the food, which is refined yet tastes like it was made by your grandmother. They have a reasonably priced wine list and an extensive menu to choose from. The ambiance is great and the staff is friendly and knowledgeable. Highly recommended, and we will definitely be back.

We had a fantastic and immersive (like in Italy) experience. The staff is wonderful, the Sicilian Cheff knows exactly what she is doing, and Giovanni, like a maestro, makes sure every detail is aligned with the highest gastronomic and environmental standards. We will return shortly and for sure leave happy again.

I stumbled upon it by chance; we had very good first courses, appetizers, and pizza. Considering that Amsterdam is quite expensive everywhere, we spent about the same amount as other restaurants.

We stumbled across Ciro following our arrival in Amsterdam. Lucky us! Our experience was fantastic from start to finish. Top quality food and the best possible service. We had their pizza and we might as well have been in a 5 star restaurant in Italy. I would recommend this to locals and travellers alike, without reservation. Enjoy!

What a wonderful restaurant! The food is exquisite, the service very enthusiastic. We ate at Ciro for the third time today; it was incredibly delicious again, and there is a lovely terrace on perhaps the last day of summer, so we were really spoiled. Highly recommended!!!

Wow!!! The food is super fresh and truly delicious. We were with six friends and had a shared dinner. Every dish was amazing. What a wonderful addition to this restaurant.

We had a fantastic meal at Gio's! Everything was Italian, it was so delicious and so cozy. We had both pizza and pasta, and everything was equally delicious. Gio and his team have only been open for eight weeks, so I'd recommend going there soon before it gets too busy, because it will! A very varied menu and wonderful wines.

After visiting the Dappermarkt in Amsterdam in the rain and taking refuge in the Italian cafe-restaurant CIRO, you enjoyed an excellent, homemade tiramisu here.

Finally, an Italian restaurant that serves Italian food and coffee. And not at exorbitant prices, but simply good value for money.

If you love authentic Italian food, you have to go to Ciro 1939 at the Dappermarkt in Amsterdam. Giovanni, the owner, told me he wrote down all his mother's recipes and now recreates them exactly in his restaurant. I'm telling you: this is the best melanzane I've ever had in the Netherlands. Go quickly and try it for yourself: you'll truly feel like you're in Italy!

Amazing food, amazing service! They have lots of outside terrace space, but also very cozy indoor tables. Amazing quality both aesthetically and ingredient wise. The staff is very friendly and knowledgeable. I definitely recommend and will be coming back soon!!

We often went to the old location to pick up pizzas, which were always great. Now they are even in a very atmospheric building where you can enjoy the super tasty pizzas and other dishes inside. Definitely recommended if you are in the area and want to enjoy yourself.

Holy..., what great pizzas! The tartufo, among other things, is highly recommended. Don't be put off by the fact that it is takeaway only, because it is more than restaurant quality.

We've been eating Ciro's pizzas for years. Simply the best in this part of town. The crust is just right and crispy. The tomato sauce is delicious, and if you order through their website and pick it up, you can easily customize your pizza to your liking, for example, by asking for extra olives or no bell pepper.

NEVER AGAIN! Be careful when giving criticism, as the staff may not be able to handle it well. I have been called back threateningly four times because my tone was apparently not appreciated. Ciro 1939 has always been known for its quality, with a traditional Italian chef, the use of fresh ingredients and high-quality staff, but this… La Polpetta is served with supermarket pasta instead of homemade pasta. The sauce was bland and not prepared according to the traditional recipe. CIRO 1939 is a thing of the past; the current owners have ruined the name. For authentic Italian food, you are better off going to Rafi in the Jordaan.

Ik zal dit bedrijf zeker 5 sterren geven als hun eigen bezorgdienst hebben .want gisteren heb ik hier een pizza besteld echt goed qua smaak en ingrediënten. Maar hij was koud die pizza. Dit heeft te maken met thuisbezorgd omdat deze bezorgers geen seconden denken over de gevolgen voor de leverancier als de bezorgers te lui zijn om door te werken .ze vragen 3.6 euro voor bezorgen .pure oplichterij.ik ga nog 1 keer langs bij deze zaak om een pizza afte halen.mocht hij dan weer koud zijn .dan was het de allerlaatste keer dat ik hier ben geweest.

The pizza is amazing! You really can taste the quality of the ingredients. Me and my girlfriend ordered the nduja and the truffle pizza. I actually was super suprised as i think these pizza's were one of the best (if not the best) i had in Amsterdam. Comparing it to: buurman en buurman, wilde westen, pizza project, mangia, de pizzabakkers, dope pizza etc... And this is even after thuisbezorgd made me wait for an hour, and i had to pick them up myself. By the time I arrived they just got out of the oven (i called to pick it up myself). Still warm when i got home and the feast began!!

Used to be very good (ordered many times before). Something changed - recently ordered - pizza dough was completely burnt, Pasta was over cooked with barely any flavour (no even cheese topping supplied). Not sure what happened but sadly probably won't order again.

We ordered Circo 1939 for a dinner with friends. We started with the antipasti of grilled vegetables and buffalo mozzarella with tomatoes. Then we had the best parmigiana I ever tasted. I can’t eten gluten, so they made the gluten-free version. Also, all dishes came on a very pretty take-away tray which you can put right on the table. No dishes afterwards. :) Definitely ordering here again!

Wauw! Ik zocht al langer naar een Italiaanse speciaalzaak in Amsterdam die mij in gedachten terug kon brengen naar het zuiden van Italië. Ciro heeft al mijn verwachtingen overtroffen! Top kwaliteit producten; de antipasti, melanzane en tiramisù zijn allemaal aan te raden! Dankjewel en tot snel!!

Good pizza even though it was quite pricey. The focaccia was great as well. The Nutella tiramisu was amazing and can be recommended. The pistachio tiramisu wasn’t that great though.

Super lekker eten, alles is aan te raden tevens is de bereiding ook super vers. Bestellen hier al jaren, nu we verhuisd zijn rijden we nog graag om voor het lekker eten.

この地域を散歩しているときに見かけたのでフラっと入って、パニーニを注文。 受付の女性は丁寧で「パニーニのメニューを説明してあげようか？」と声をかけてもらいました。自分の期待値が低かったのもありますが、十分おいしいレベル。軽食目的であれば、ぜひおすすめしたいお店。 ７ユーロだと1000円なので、日本円ベースでは驚く価格ですが、アムスでは普通であり、「価格以上のおいしさ」と感じた。

Bestel altijd dezelfde pasta + broodje en het is altijd lekker en snel bezorgd!

Vlak voor de WK afgelopen zondag hier een pizza besteld. Deze werd bezorgd door Uber eats. Vegetarische pizza met aubergine en courgette. Opzich zou die lekker geweest zijn. als ie nog warm geweest zou zijn. Helaas was ie koud. En dat voor 18 euro vind ik een minpunt.

Heerlijke en verse pizza's, plus een superfijne service van Giovanni en Marleen! Voor een zakelijke lunch hadden wij een groot aantal pizza's nodig, en niets was te gek voor hen. Alles warm op kantoor gekregen en iedereen heeft zitten smullen van de pizza's en de verrukkelijke desserts (inclusief de Italiaanse collega!). Een absolute aanrader!

Very good pizza, great ingredients and good delivery. The only downside I would see is not being able to personalise your pizza with extra ingredients (at least not on Deliveroo). But the taste, texture and flavour is amazing. Highly recommend!
