Codium in Wijk 01 Goes

Beautiful restaurant, but we found the food too contrived, too many frills. The flavors were also too similar. The price-quality ratio wasn't in line. We expected more.

Phenomenal experience from start to finish Everything was perfect at Codium: the welcome, the atmosphere, the service and especially the food. Every dish was sublime – refined, creative and taken care of down to the last detail. An absolute must for anyone who loves gastronomic enjoyment at the highest level. ⸻ Let me know if you also want a version for Instagram or Facebook (possibly with hashtags).

Once again we had a very good meal at restaurant Codium in Goes. Since April 2023 a restaurant with a Michelin star and that is completely justified. In fact, based on our experience, a second star should also be allowed/could/should come. Eating out at this level is an experience and sometimes it looks like art. Chef Wouter and his chefs make beautiful plates in terms of appearance but much more importantly there is tension in every dish. Sometimes with a touch of sourness, sometimes with a bit of spiciness, always in balance. Jean Luc's wine list is good, lots of Burgundy with hidden gems. We did not take a package but I saw a few excellent wines passing by and lots of smiles from guests. In addition to the 7-course menu you get a lot, a lot of extras so don't eat too much lunch and come in with a nice appetite. Thanks Wouter & Jean Luc & Laura and the entire enthusiastic team, we enjoyed it and would love to come back.

Top! The best of the Netherlands. Top wine list and dishes with taste and art for the eye. The only criticism is the less comfortable chairs, but certainly worth repeating!

De warme en persoonlijke ontvangst en bediening gecombineerd met de prachtige en verrukkelijke amuses, gerechten en passende wijn hebben ons een fantastische avond bezorgd. De toelichting op de gerechten aan tafel door de keukenbrigade en bij de wijn door Jean Luc is uniek en liet het vakmanschap en passie van het personeel zien! Overnachten aan de overkant bij hotel Katoen is ook een aanrader.

Recently visited this top restaurant for the 2nd time....7 courses, no matched wines this time because 'drinking too much and too fast' as on our first visit, we went all-in and took the Michelin package...8 courses including champagne aperitif and then 8 matched wines... This time we booked a stay in hotel Katoen diagonally across the door from Codium... upon check-in the receptionist even went to get a taste at Codium!!! Top from A-Z...already looking forward to the 3rd time...

Yesterday we celebrated my 46th birthday in Goes at Restaurant Codium. The charming chef Wouter Kik and his team gave us a fantastic culinary evening. The dishes were exquisite, presented tableside by all the chefs. The sea gets its moment of glory here! The service was friendly and the atmosphere relaxed. The wines were beautifully paired. A deep bow to this fantastic team. An absolute must-see in Zeeland!

Voor dit restaurant is een stukje (om)rijden absoluut de moeite waard. Uitgenodigd door vrienden, hebben we een avondvullende ervaring op culinair vlak beleefd die je niet snel vergeet. De gerechten die je voorgeschoteld krijgt door het zeer enthousiaste en leuke personeel, zijn kunstwerkjes op je bord. Als je dan zo’n kunstwerkje naar binnen schuift, is de smaak er een die je verbaasd doet staan van wat er allemaal mogelijk is met mooie ingrediënten. Naast de fantastische gerechten worden er heerlijke wijnen geserveerd die ervoor zorgen dat de ervaring onvergetelijk wordt. Het totale plaatje valt of staat met de bediening aan tafel en wij hebben zelden zo’n ongecompliceerde, en goed geoliede groep mensen aan het werk gezien. Al het personeel is uitermate enthousiast over wat ze je voorschotelen en terecht. Daarnaast valt het bijna niet op als er weer iets afgeruimd wordt en de volgende verrassing verschijnt. Na 5,5 uur, die voorbij gevlogen zijn, heb je voldoende inspiratie om een hele mooie recensie te schrijven. Willen wij nog een keer naar deze mooie zaak? Zeker! We rijden er graag een stuk(je) voor om.

Genoten van een heerlijke lunch op de zaterdag met fruits de mer bereidingen in een unieke Codium stijl. Hierbij een geschikte fles van de kaart besteld. Bediening was grote klasse ondanks dat het restaurant helemaal uitverkocht was.

Enjoyed a delicious lunch on Saturday with fruits de mer preparations in a unique Codium style. Ordered a suitable bottle from the menu. Service was great even though the restaurant was completely sold out.

Fantastische ervaring! Uitzonderlijk goed team dat zorgt voor een ultieme beleving! Het eten was verrassend, lekker, bijzonder smaakvol! De passie spat er vanaf en dat is waar wij blij van worden!!

Het was geweldig om de Michelin Experience te mogen beleven/ervaren. Een prikkeling van nieuwe smaken heeft onze verwachting meer dan waargemaakt. Ook het niet alcoholische arrangement viel in de smaak. En wat een toewijding vanuit de Keukenbrigade om alles met veel liefde voor het vak te breiden en uit te serveren. En tot slot de lieftallige gastvrouw en gastheer die je ook echt het gevoel geven dat je de GAST van de avond bent. Absoluut een aanrader om te GENIETEN van (h)eerlijk eten!

Yesterday the flavors of the sea took center stage with delicious fish dishes, such as oyster, scallop and sea bass. Almost all courses (the cod was a bit too flat for us) were beautiful flavor bombs without being too heavy, salty or sour. Our favorite dish of the evening was the North Sea crab with citrus and horseradish. The wines try to go off the beaten track, which makes for nice matches. The service was friendly and resolved something that had gone wrong.

Genoten van een variëteit aan smaken die je echt op je gemak tot je moet laten komen. Met een duidelijk zeeuwse leidraad. Ook een mooie passende afstemming van de wijnen. Een ervaring die je een keer moet meemaken.

Ondanks dat we wat te vroeg waren werden we uitstekend ontvangen. Het is lang geleden dat onze smaakpapillen zo verrast zijn met dergelijke uitmuntende gerechten. Eindelijk weer eens een restaurant waar je terug wilt komen. Kortom het was fantastisch.

Even though we arrived a bit early, we were given an excellent welcome. It has been a long time since our taste buds have been so surprised with such excellent dishes. Finally a restaurant where you want to come back. In short it was fantastic.

Even better than expected, with a great vegetarian menu and good non-alcoholic pairing as an alternative to the (also fantastic) wines. Wouter's brigade and the service provided a wonderful evening!

Delicious food, worth repeating

We gingen hierheen om de verjaardag van mijn man te vieren en het was een fantastische beleving. De bediening was bijzonder vriendelijk en attent. Het menu was zorgvuldig opgebouwd, heerlijk bereid en schitterend opgemaakt. De chef kwam langs voor een ongedwongen praatje. Aan het eind, na het dessert, kreeg mijn man een speciaal voor hem gebakken verjaardagstaartje! Als je in Zeeland bent raad ik je zeker aan om hier te gaan eten.

All dishes tasted great and looked beautiful, service was great, a lot of attention to the customer.

We had read the good reviews of Codium, but the wonderful dinner surpassed our highest expectations. The food was a delight for all senses, looking as magnificent as it tasted. Every dish was a pleasant surprise, but the individual taste of every ingredient was still coming to its own - masterly. Besides the menu we got various little mouthwatering surprises. It was a truly marvelous evening by all means, the friendly staff showing perfect hospitality, beautiful fresh flowers on the tables and a personalized menu to take home as a souvenir. We can recommend this great experience to everybody!

Wat een culinair feestje. Alles klopt hier. Al vanaf het ontvangst. Genoten van de 5 gangen lunch. De ene mooie smaakexplosie na de andere. Zelfs ons hondje was welkom.

Wederom heerlijk gegeten bij Codium, alles klopt hier van amuse tot en met het dessert. Prachtig menu, fantastische zeer uitgebreide wijnkaart. Fijne bediening in ongedwongen sfeer, kortom een heerlijke culinaire avond uit!

To me, they deserve a second Michelin star. The 8 course meal with half glas wine pairing was an amazing experience. Even before the first course, 3 amuses were served, each consisting of 3 bites. In addition to a mid meal surprise amuse. We could choose between cheese and desert. We chose both!!! Just to show that the portions were excellent and that we really wanted the entire experience!!!

Das Restaurant schafft es immer wieder, eine perfekte Kombination aus exquisitem Essen, herzlicher Gastfreundschaft und gemütlichem Ambiente zu bieten. Die Speisen waren köstlich und auf den Punkt zubereitet, mit frischen Zutaten und viel Liebe zum Detail. Besonders die Artischocken in Kombination mit Kaviar war ein absolutes Highlight des Abends. Das Team war unglaublich aufmerksam und freundlich, was den Abend noch angenehmer gemacht hat. Man merkt, dass hier echte Profis am Werk sind, die ihre Gäste verwöhnen möchten. Veel gehoord over Codium en alle positieve recenties zijn volledig verdiend. De amuses zijn erg goed en vernieuwend. Smaken top. De gerechten hierna zijn echt verassingen die elkaar in een goed tempo opvolgen. Enig minpuntje is dat Feyenoord gerechtje maar oke, het is je vergeven vrolijke kakkerlak. Leuke avond gehad.

Vriendelijke ontvangst, mooie plaats aan de venster met veel overzicht . We hebben genoten van de amuses , de lekkere menu en de wijnen en een zeer vriendelijke bediening. Alles was er naar onze verwachting .

Codium is genieten!! Het restaurant is mooi, de ontvangst is hartelijk. De gerechten zijn mooi, de smaken verrassend. Je kan merken dat hier met passie wordt gekookt. Het bijpassende wijnarrangement is ook aan te bevelen. We komen graag terug!!!

Had dinner at this restaurant today: it was a big party. Good balance between chic dining and a relaxed and informal atmosphere. The various delicious dishes were served by the responsible chefs, with good explanations, enthusiasm and passion about what they had made for us. The various dishes were perfectly balanced in terms of flavors and perfectly prepared. Compliments for the matching non-alcoholic wines.

June 2024 Nicely situated in the heart of Goes. Good and swift service, lot of tables and the cooks will serve out the dishes. Nice cutlery and China. Still serving a lot of amuses with a nice hint to the name of the restaurant. Of course a lot of fish and 'seafood' on the menu. Choice of 5 or 8 course dinner (excl amuses) wine pairing or non alcoholic pairing. Nespresso as coffee ... hmmmmm and the chef has something with Feyenoord ... weird ;-) we had a good discussion about that ... hahahhahahahhaa Real treat and really something I would recommend to visit. Good value for money on the 8 course dinner. When in Goes .. try to book.

Fantastic balanced flavors with wine pairing that you will love. Simply fantastic food. Enthusiastic team who certainly take their work a step further with pride and joy. Super sharp and alert for extra service and personal contact. Really nice relaxed atmosphere yet sleek. Actually you can't call it work... Passion From the entire team led by...Wouter Kik.

Beautiful creations to look at, but absolutely overpriced compared to the many cheap ingredients! The quantity of fish and meat was absolutely in short supply compared to other 1 star restaurants! The dessert ultimately exceeded all expectations. This is what you get in similar restaurants ideally as a pre-dessert. Overall, a disappointing evening and certainly no reunion.

A really great restaurant m8dden in Goes, what a nice team!

Very good experience, we were wonderfully pampered. Exceptional flavors from the kitchen brigade, who all radiate passion for the profession and present it on the plate, enjoyed the dishes prepared to a high standard. A top sommelier who has been able to present refined, surprising wines that are consistent...compliments!

The food was good. What you can expect for the price. Enthusiastic chefs who come to present their own dish. Unfortunately half a bowl of sauce was thrown over me and strangely enough nothing was said about it. A brief apology from the boy himself, but the owner saw it happen and ignored it. Compensation would have been one thing - the pants had to be dry cleaned because the stain wouldn't come out - but not necessary, but a quick chat or apology would have been nice. The atmosphere felt a bit impersonal anyway, not a cozy restaurant.

In one word great! What a fantastic evening. Delicious dishes, top chefs, nice and sweet service, tasty wines and good company! What a beautiful evening!! Thanks.

Great restaurant! Service is super friendly and the chef makes time for a chat with his guests. Food is good and surprising. Without a doubt one of the better star stores in the Netherlands!

Fantastic culinary achievement by the chefs of Codium.

Great flavor explosions, and excellently presented dishes by enthusiastic employees. Delicious, really enjoyed it, dietary requirements were also taken into account. The wine pairing wasn't always to my taste, but you can't have everything. A great experience in a great place.

Delicious meal! Special creations, beautiful combinations, surprising structures. Lots of attention for the guests. Wine arrangement well matched to the dishes. Compliments to the entire Codium team.

We had an arrangement with Katoen. That is highly recommended. We had a delicious meal here, real works of art on your plate. Staff are nice and hospitable. Good wines. My gluten and lactose intolerance was well taken into account. It is definitely recommended! There are some downsides. The lighting is not attractive, the sound is sometimes too loud, especially when the food is served in several places. Too often we checked to see if our plate was empty yet. The difference between a full and a 1/2 wine arrangement is only €20. We sat here from 7:30 PM to 12:30 PM for the 8 course dinner. We like to eat leisurely. But at the end the front door was opened and you felt the cold air coming in. We got the feeling that we had to leave. When we stepped outside, the staff immediately left. That was a real shame. It's not a nice way to end the evening.

Very good experience the food was delicious well prepared and with a lot of variety. The chef has some nice choices of ingredients especially the honey dessert is great! The wine paring was original it will surprise you and with grape varieties you don’t see often. The staff were friendly and did their best given that restaurant was very busy. Atmosphere is a bit quirky it is one big open room so it could get noisy and the decoration is not super sophisticated but overall did not influence our experience too much!

Everything was a party, the food delicious, the chefs at the table a spectacle, the decor beautiful, the hospitality of everyone. We enjoyed it, go quickly before they get a 2nd star!

The food at Codium was very good. Mainly focused on sea creatures, quite a few challenging sour and fresh flavors. The staff is polite and seems to adapt well to what the table expects. The interior is beautiful, but in my opinion it lacks something personal to give it a little more atmosphere. All in all we had a nice evening and experience.

A wonderful evening with special dishes. The hospitality of both the owners and the other employees was also very striking. "Special attention from everyone. We felt really welcome" . Five stars was the maximum we could give, otherwise we would have awarded six stars.

Allen waren nog onbevangen in uitleg over al het heerlijks dat op onze bordjes kwam. De chef is echt op zoek naar plezier voor hem en de gasten. De gastheer is een bedreven sommelier. Echte aanrader. Super ervaring, aandacht voor details die de avond voor ons personaliseerden. Tot in de puntjes verzorgde gerechtjes met heel veel lokale invloeden. Dit restaurant verdient een 2de ster.

Een groot deel van de gerechten heeft een zodanige indruk gemaakt, dat ik ze daags later nog in detail kan herinneren. Het is lang geleden, dat ik zo onder de indruk was van de originaliteit, smaak en presentatie. De service was goed, vlot en vriendelijk. Leuk detail is dat de chefs de eigen gerechten aan tafel komen serveren en toelichten. Top!

Where do I even start with this review? The space itself is gorgeous. Wine list was insane, it was hard to pick the wine we wanted to have. The dishes were absolutely amazing. It was definitely one of the best meals I've had in a really long time. My wife and I are both lactose intolerant and they adjusted the menu impeccably to it, if they wouldn't have told us they adjusted it, we would've thought that's how the dish is meant to be. And last but not least the staff is incredibly kind, attentive and professional. An all-around A+ experience. No notes.

Perfekter Abend mit unglaublich vielfältigen Aromen: Optisch und aromatisch war wirklich jeder Gang ein Genuss! Der Service war super, aufmerksam und unaufdringlich freundlich. Der Chef-Kok Wouter Kik und die jungen Köche haben die einzelnen Gänge mit sehr viel Herz erklärt und man merkte jedem im Team an, dass er seinen Job mit ganz viel Liebe macht. Wir kommen hoffentlich bald und sehr gerne wieder! Tot ziens en heel erg bedankt voor de geweldige avond.
