Option to order two appetizers and a dessert as a three-course meal. This allows people who have undergone gastric bypass surgery to enjoy a three-course meal without having to throw half of it away. Excellent service, very tasty food.

We had a delicious meal at Da Mario. It was a lovely October evening and we were able to eat outside. We were the only ones there, though; the others sought out the warmth and bustle. We ate inside tonight. The food was excellent. The service was chaotic and under enormous pressure, and they deserve more respect.

The Tiramisu (dessert) was a bit disappointing; we both thought it was a bit too cakey. But that shouldn't spoil the fun, we'll definitely be back.

First of all...we had a delicious meal!! Upon arrival, we received a warm welcome and upon departure, the same host treated us very well. Unfortunately, the other staff were more focused on themselves and each other than on the guests. They just kept up the standard routine of serving and collecting food, and the "tasty food" was barely enough. The food was also served very quickly; it wasn't a pleasant evening out; we were back home in no time. Despite the delicious food, we went home with mixed feelings. Until next time??? We don't think so.

We eat here often as a family of three, but what we experienced tonight... the receipt was wrong at the end, and a blond guy, a bit of a different kind, ended up being really rude and impolite. He told us not to shout and just act normal. I just calmly explained what was wrong on the receipt. He's having a bad day, but you can't treat customers like that.

We ate here with friends yesterday, and everything was delicious! Starters: soup and carpaccio. Then we had meat, fish, and pasta, along with various desserts. The staff was friendly and helpful. We'll definitely be back. When I read the negative reviews about the thin pizzas, I think of the pizzas I ate in Italy: they were always very thin too! These people might just be used to frozen pizza from the supermarket.

We ate at Da Mario yesterday. The quality was excellent. Full of flavor, fresh ingredients, and simply delicious! The ambiance is luxurious and therefore lacks the Italian charm, despite the open pizza oven in the restaurant. The restaurant has more the feel of a restaurant in trendy Milan than a trattoria in a small Italian village, while the outside impression is quite different. But that's mainly a matter of taste and expectations. Reservations are made quickly, so quickly that I realized that if it had taken a little longer, you'd feel more like the food was being cooked especially for you. This speed makes you feel like everything is already prepared. The service was formal but friendly, and at times even a bit condescending. One area for real improvement: the perfume of the waiters is slightly intoxicating. That's a real shame, because in an (Italian) restaurant, you mainly want to smell the kitchen. The latter is what earns the four stars and the five-star rating.

The food is delicious in deed we ordered the lobster and the fish. However the unpleasant thing happened. The menu said each main deal contains one portion of spaghetti and one salad. My friend and I ordered two meals and they only gave us one spaghetti and one salad so I asked them to gave us one more bc it contained in our meal. Then their explanation is they thought NORMALLY ppl can only finished one so they don’t want food be wasted. After we finished the meal and asked our bill to pay they put those spaghetti and salad as EXTRA to charge us money. I told them it’s unreasonable I won’t pay for that bc that should contain in the meal we ordered. In the final they didn’t charge those but I’m still feeling not happy. It’s kinda ruin my experience here. There is my suggestion: if u come with friends, u can sit in different tables, so u will get the meal u deserved and no more negotiation.

The food at Da Mario is always delicious. This time too

Based on the high Google rating (4.3) and the website description ("a Deventer phenomenon"), we decided to dine here on a Monday evening. Upon arrival, we were led to a table and told that we "probably wouldn't be staying that long, right?" because that part of the restaurant was already closing. This didn't exactly make us feel welcome. Unfortunately, the food was also somewhat disappointing. The "three pastas" my husband ordered were supposed to be served without meat, but one of them actually contained chicken. When we pointed this out, there was little reaction. My pizza tasted decent, but the crust was very thin and too greasy. All in all, the experience was disappointing, especially considering the expectations raised by the high online reviews.

We had a great pizza and delicious tiramisu. We called to ask if the dog could come along, and they reserved a quiet corner especially for us so she could join us. Friendly service too.

Terrible food. Low-quality ingredients. The salmon pasta tasted like old, soon-to-rot, fish. The pizza was dry and plainly bad. Got stomachache afterwards. Stay away!

Everything was just awful. They don't sell pizza, they just sell pancakes. That pizza was so thin you could see through it. I'm NEVER going back there again. The pizza was completely burnt. The Coke wasn't in the fridge, but in the oven because it wasn't hot enough. It's not April Fools' Day, is it?

If you've ever wanted to know what a lukewarm microwave pizza tastes like, Da Mario is the place for you. The waiter at Da Mario was so slow I thought he'd flown to Italy himself to pick up my order. When he finally returned, my pizza already had more wrinkles than my grandfather. I made more eye contact with the flies in the restaurant than with him. Seriously, if he'd waited another minute, I would have cooked my own pasta in the kitchen.

We dined here with our family last night and we loved the food! My sons gave it a 10 out of 10! The service was great; everyone was polite and helpful. (I think it was the owner) even kindly took our picture when we asked. Definitely recommended, and we'll be back!

We had delicious food. Three different pasta dishes. Friendly staff and a lovely terrace.

We made a reservation well in advance and arrived well before closing time (8:15 PM). We were rushed by two waiters within a minute, asking if we'd made our choice. Then the owner came over to us and asked if we could please hurry up and order because they wanted to go home. We felt completely unwelcome, and we'll never be back. It's a shame, as we'd heard good things about it.

We were able to dine outside on the terrace, in a beautiful location in the historic center of Deventer. The house red wine was delicious and of good quality. The young man who served us was very friendly. We enjoyed the delicious Italian cuisine! Highly recommended!

Pizza was black around the edge and difficult to cut

I don't recognize myself in the negative reviews, because our experience here was really good. It's true that the food is served quickly, but I don't see why that's a bad thing. If it takes too long, they have something to complain about, so the fact that it was delivered so quickly is actually a plus for me! The staff also let us talk things over calmly; they weren't as pushy as others in the reviews say. The service was friendly, and you get a free bread board with five slices of baguette, herb butter, and olives as a starter. There's a wide selection of food, although I did feel like pasta carbonara was missing from the menu for an Italian restaurant. Nothing wrong with that, it's just my own expectations. The reason for the 4/5 stars for me personally has to do with the pizzas. They were a nice size and certainly not bad in terms of flavor, but the dough was really thin (the base was similar to a tortilla wrap), and we felt they could have used a bit more tomato sauce. That's the only downside for us, because otherwise the price/quality ratio was good and the service was fast and friendly. The desserts were also very delicious. Upon leaving, we were wished a wonderful evening with a friendly smile. Definitely recommended!

"Da Mario" means "at Mario's." A nice name for an Italian restaurant. "Great, we're at Mario's, I'll probably talk to him tonight," you think. But... it's a bit different. I inquired and was told there's no Mario at this restaurant, and no other Italian either. Strange, because we're "at Mario's" here...? Or at least at an Italian, I hope...? So the story about this place doesn't add up. And the pizza wasn't right either. The wood-fired oven seemed fine, but the pizza itself, both in terms of the crust and the toppings, was clearly not from an Italian restaurant. You also won't find pineapple pizza anywhere in Italy, even though it's on the menu here. Oh dear... By the way, the pizza was delivered before the drinks; so quickly that it felt strange. Afterward, we were asked if we were satisfied. I answered honestly. The waitresses were polite and courteous. The (presumably) owner came to our table shortly afterward and offered a few alternatives to eat, on the house. He handled that well. He clearly intended to please us, and he was persistent. I sincerely appreciate that. However, I declined. At Da Mario, you're not really at an Italian restaurant, but at a place where they try to carve beautiful belts from Italian leather.

I loved it. Staff was pleasant but they did seem to struggle with orders. They wanted to load of wrong orders at tables but it was not a problem for us to decline the dish they thought belonged to our table. We all enjoyed our food fully and it was a good experience. I also noticed nice gestures such as bread and olives being served all tables and at payment they deliberately turned their backs to show they are giving you privacy at paying. The bathrooms were clean. I feel like this was an all round good place and I feel they deserve a great grade.

In Deventer, there are plenty of Italian restaurants to choose from. Da Mario is a well-established name, and I've eaten there several times before. So the choice was easy. If you're looking for a special dish, this is the place to be! You won't find anything as creative as this... According to the menu, the lasagna should contain ham and ground beef. There were indeed some ground beef granules on top of the lasagna, but between the pasta, there was no ground beef or ham, but... slices of cooked sausage! Indeed, the kind from your sandwich. If you want to keep prices down, you might be able to make the portions a bit smaller, but putting cheap sausage in it instead of ground beef and ham is a mistake. The vegetarian pizza was "well-cooked" and not a cacophony of flavors (read: sparse toppings). Next time, I'll probably read the reviews first, even though it's a well-known place. Too bad.

The food was delicious AND the waitress was a fantastic hostess!! She offered me a child's portion because I'm not a big eater, which I thought was very kind.

Deventer's trusted classic pizzeria. I used to come here often as a child, and I still love it. There are plenty of alternatives, but Da Mario is, in my opinion, the OG.

Went without reservation , still possible to get table. Food were fine. Many choices. Not too expensive. Really friendly and helpful staffs.

Starter with 5 minutes at the table, main course follows within 5 minutes after serving and dessert within a minute. At 21:00 we are shown out of the tent. 21:30 the gentleman is at the table (unasked!) with a receipt, which then becomes 117, - the staff probably had better plans for the evening. Last time for me.

Delicious Italian food and drinks in a cozy atmosphere

Mediocre food, poor service. When order is taken, hands crossed in front of you. When you indicate that it did not really taste good, they seem to be used to it; accept the message and move on.

The staff present seemed unsympathetic. As if they didn't really feel like it. However, we didn't have to wait long to be able to order, but there were no other customers because we were early. The starter was reasonable but the calzone had little taste and content. Dough also thin, not as it should be.

Gave some feedback about a main course with different fish dishes; salmon was fried black, squid rings the standard from the fryer. Sole was tasty and prawns too. Had to ask for cutlery for both starter and main course. Starters arrived before the aperitifs. Then the big boss says that I should just pay what I think it's worth since everyone works so hard! I indicate that I find that a rather special way of approaching things... Indicated that I would like to pay for the drinks only. But suddenly had to pay €100 which he then had one of his employees withdraw directly... what a special incident... Being open to criticism is certainly not an option; and then especially be very brave... 😂

Unfortunately not suitable for people with walking difficulties. Wheelchairs could not/were not allowed to enter.

A good Italian in the center of Deventer

Despite the crowds we were kindly welcomed and against our (unjustified) expectations served very quickly. In no time we had our pizzas, after which we enjoyed a delicious dessert. Recommended!

Recently ate here. The first impression was good. Nice service, nice to sit in. Standard sandwich on the table in advance, with an olive added, that boded well. We first ordered a pizza and pasta with prawns. The food came very quickly (sometimes it can be a little too quickly...). The pizza didn't really look Italian. Everything was arranged exactly in the right place :) tasted ok. Tip for Da Mario: take a look at the Pizza Bakers in Zwolle, as far as I'm concerned they are real non-Dutch pizzas. Increased turnover guaranteed. And then the pasta… oops… the Sahara is dry but this. Lots of dry herbs on it, too much, I think the jar fell on it? I think prawns were from a freezer bag? I prepare this myself in 9 minutes, 100x better, I'm not Italian and for less than €18! Overall: I would come back if the food was tasty and authentically Italian. The rest is very fine. In any case, we won't be back now.

From the Randstad, we always end a day in Deventer with a meal at Da Mario. As always, a friendly welcome with neatly taking the coats. Before you know it you will be served the pizzas. Goes nice and fast, I love it. Friendly service and always a box with the chef. They were ready with our coats, which coats are whose beautiful system, a friendly goodbye and back home with the ferry and car. 😊👌

The sea bream was tasty, and the mix of fish and shrimp was delicious. Received fast, very nice service from start to finish.

Tasty pizza, but a small one for the full price.

What a terrible restaurant. We drove to Deventer specifically because this restaurant supposedly had GLUTEN-FREE pizzas. Once we arrived, and after making an online reservation, one of the many servers had to ask the cook whether the pizzas were gluten-free. We were then told that the pizzas were gluten free and that they were baked in the same oven that the normal pizzas were baked in. The staff do not know at all what an allergy means. So just to be on the safe side, I opted for a gluten-free pasta. Plate placed on the table. How rancid... The pasta had been boiled for far too long and felt apart when pricking it. The sauce consisted of a tomato cut into 4 parts, a hand full of pine nuts...salt, pepper and herbs did not come close to this plate. My fellow table companions had opted for a normal pizza (they do not have to eat gluten-free). The pizzas were more like white pizza, hardly any tomato sauce and the cheese wasn't even melted properly. The bottom was still raw and white. A good pizza should have a golden brown edge/bottom. The other pizza was topped with anchovies and olives, which added some flavor to the pizza. I would really recommend this restaurant!! Even Pinocchio never had such bad advertising A Dr. Oetker pizza tastes even better, and that's what a true Italian says!!! No, I will never go to this pizzeria/ristorante again. 🤮 For 2 small bottles of water, 1 glass of house red wine, a pizza Margherita bambino, 1 pizza Siciliana and 1 plate of penne we spent €44.95. Way too much money,!!

Vreselijk tent. We lazen dat dit restauranT GLUTENVRIJE Pizza s hadden. Eenmaal daar aangekomen en oms geïnformeerd te hebben moest de bedienster eerst navragen of de pizza's glutenvrij waren. Vervolgens kon ze ons niet vertellen waar ze de pizza's bakten. De kok zei dat de glutenvrije pizzabodems in dezelfde oven gingen de waar de normale pizza's ook in gingen, hij zou de bodem dan wel even schoon vegen.. HET bewijs dat ze totaal geen benul hebben wat mensen met glutenallergie wel en niet mogen . Vervolgens voor het zekere van het onzekere maar een pasta besteld. Smerig! Smaakloos. Veel te ver doorgekookt.. bij het aanprikken van de penne vielen ze al uit elkaar. De saus bestond uit een tomaat in 4 parten gesneden, paar pijnboompitjes en dat was het. Zout???pepper?? Kruiden?? Niet ik de buurt geweest. Onze tafelgenoten, die geen allergie hebben. Hadden beide een pizza genomen. Pizza Margherita en pizza Siciliana. Van de Margherita maar een puntje gegeten de rest laten staan. Vreselijk wat een nare smaak. Tomatensaus is voor dit restaurant veel te duur, kaas op de pizza was nauwelijks gesmolten. Deeg was niet gaar en bleekjes . De ansjovis en olijven op de Siciliana liet de pizza beter smaken. Maar net als de Margherita niet gaar, kaas nauwelijks gesmolten en de tomatesaus was op de bon. Mijn advies : Kijk verder of koop een dr. Oetker pizza en warm die thuis op.

The quality of the food is good, the service is attentive and quick. The ambience suffers from the narrow seating and the 2-shift system. It is processed very quickly.

The reception was far from pleasant and chaotic. The place behind the cash register was actually very unpleasant, but we were hungry. The grilled salmon was partially burnt and we only heard the chef's apology about this when we talked about it again. Unfortunately not a good experience although the grilled scampi and tiramisu were good.

Aardig eten maar geen hoogstaande Italiaan. De specitino was gren romige dus zoals verwacht, de sabayon was niet luchtig maar een blok ijs en smaken een beetje flauwtjes. Na het dessert kwamen ze vragen of we nog iets te drinken wilden. Koffie en thee werden besteld. Zodra dit gebracht werd kregen we de melding om te vertrekken. We bleven nog een minuutje zitten om nog een slok thee/koffie te nemen en toen kwam de baas. Best geirriteerd, jullie moeten gaan de volgende groep staat klaar. Al zwaaiend met.de armen dat we op moesten staan. Super irritant. Vraag dan niet of we nog iets willen drinken. En een vriendelijk verzoek is fijner dan zo dwingend. En misschien van tevoren aangeven dat er een tijdvak is waar we aan vast zitten. Hadden we er rekening mee kunnen houden. Jammer. Voor ons niet nog eens.

The ossobuco is of the same high standard as that of Hotel Luchesi in Firenze (Florence)! And the people and the ambiance were absolutely great. We'll be back - hasta la vista!

het personeel probeert in de max 2 uur dat je kunt reserveren, (op zich al belachelijk!!), je binnen een uur ‘weg te werken’. Dat is storend en komt de sfeer niet ten goede. De smaak van de gerechten was overigens prima. Jammer, gebrek aan gastvrijheid in brede zin.

Booked a week in advance with a vegan and 2 vegetarians. Vegan was given very poor support, initially it was said that the pasta could be vegan, which was later not possible. In terms of drinks, it took a very long time or they were forgotten. Several people had to wait longer or did not receive the item at all that had to be ordered extra. Service was fine but very poor communication. And one person was very offended, we didn't ask a question and it was very offended

I thought it all happened very quickly, as if they were in a hurry. I had only been with the card for 30 seconds, had only read the first page and then someone was already at my table. Then my main course arrived while I was still working on the starter. It was all very tasty and the staff very friendly. The teramisu was also very tasty! The restaurant is long and narrow and I thought it was a bit echoey. The entrance with wardrobe is also very narrow/tight, so if you are with a larger group you will be standing next to the table of the other guests.
