"Our kitchen needs to move on too," was the answer we got when we tried to order lunch at 3:04 PM, having worked up a bit of an appetite after our first drink. The kitchen closes for lunch at 3:00 PM (which isn't listed on the lunch menu, by the way), but a snack platter was available. I don't see the difference! But hey, we're just customers, after all. No, it was our first and last time. Apparently, things are going well, and they can spare a few customers. Fine, we're moving on too! 🙃

Unfortunately, a less than stellar experience at De Achtertuin. We opted for a three-course à la carte menu. The appetizers were delicious and made us eager for the rest of the evening. Unfortunately, things didn't quite go as planned afterward. With our main course, one of us wasn't served a dish while the other two were already eating. Only then did the waitstaff inform us that there had been a miscommunication with the kitchen and that the dish would arrive "as soon as possible." However, it took quite a while for it to arrive. Meanwhile, the wines we'd ordered with our main course didn't arrive until my table companions were already halfway through theirs. It was also striking that the waitstaff didn't seem to know the wine list well: the Chardonnay was advertised as a "reserva dinges" because the name was difficult to pronounce. For a glass of €9.10, you'd expect a little more attention and care. When the missing main course finally arrived, it was without an apology or any form of compensation – a cup of coffee or a glass of house wine would have been appropriate. We also weren't asked again if everything else was to our satisfaction. Finally, the coffees didn't arrive at the same time as the dessert, and we initially even received the wrong bill. When we reported this, we were given the correct receipt with the comment that we "had to check it ourselves." All in all, it's a shame: the food itself was fine, but the service and handling unfortunately left much to be desired.

It's a shame the limited service couldn't handle the large number of people. Very long waits. Half-cold fries that weren't delivered until 45 minutes after the rest of the food. The food was delicious, though. Small dessert portions that, again, took a very long time to arrive.

It was incredibly busy. The lady serving us was very friendly and did her very best, so that wasn't the problem! But when we arrived, we weren't even greeted. They were all busy. We also didn't get our food at the same time, so two people had to wait a very long time for it. Otherwise, the food was very good and tasty. Beautifully presented! Good quality.

We had a delicious oyster meal, but beware: the offer was supposed to be oysters and a glass of Cava at a reduced rate, oysters yes, Cava no, which is actually misleading advertising.

We had a delicious vegetarian meal at De Achtertuin. Vegetarian dishes are often an afterthought at restaurants. But not at De Achtertuin. Delicious, flavorful dishes, beautifully presented. We'll definitely be back!

Due to a private party, it was less quiet than expected, and the staff was very busy with the event. Still, a compliment to our waitress who was there for the first day. She took excellent care of us! The food was absolutely delicious.

I had dinner here yesterday and had a truly wonderful experience. From the refreshing passion fruit lemonade to the beautifully crafted three-course meal, everything was exceptional. I ordered the burrata, the gnocchi, and the pistachio cake and each dish was bursting with flavour, presented beautifully, and absolutely delicious. Compliments to the chefs for creating such a memorable dining experience. I’ll definitely be coming back!

I have been to the Achtertuin three times now and every time it has been very good. The service is great, the staff is friendly and very customer-oriented.

Nice location and will definitely come back for a nice terrace. Food is very tasty and nice flavors on the plate. Presentation is good. Controls could be a bit sharper. Enter at 6:00 PM and leave at 9:30 PM. Finished 2 beers. The second beer was forgotten and after 30 minutes we asked where our drinks were. I also included this as a tip at checkout. Above all, a great experience and see you soon!!

A hidden gem! Both inside and outside you can sit nicely, the vegetarian options are sufficient (and surprising!) and the service was nice without being pushy. Recommended as far as I'm concerned.

The staff is not alert. The menu seems like a lot, but the dishes turn out to be quite limited. If you order fish you get 3 sad little scraps with some sauce. I think the restaurant really (also) wants to make money on the food. The value for money is not favorable. And finally, there is a strange smell inside that resembles burnt plastic. There is real potential in this tent, but it still needs to be encouraged.

Absolute top spot, events are beautifully organized here and the food is delicious. Atmosphere is the very best here and the service is top notch too. Of course this is not a place for an ordinary dinner as the price is not for skere tattas✨

What a special case. It has appearance, excellent food, atmosphere and more than friendly staff. The only thing that was a bit disappointing was the taste of a mojito; I've had better ones, but that certainly didn't spoil the fun. A memorable end to a memorable evening.

Club music not very appropriate for a dinner party. Took a very long time before we were helped. We made a reservation at half past seven, so we didn't have dinner until a quarter to nine. Then it turned out that they had forgotten one of the meals. Did get a drink from home. And very tasty food.

Friday evening was busy and something went wrong with one of our drink orders. Afterwards it turned out that I had paid too much and that was corrected immediately, very nice! Delicious food and delicious cocktails, highly recommended

Special street food restaurant, located on the port/industrial estate, and in a former factory building (De Vasim), on the Winselingseweg in Nijmegen. We came here on a Friday for lunch (unfortunately the place was still almost empty). They have comfortable seats and a good, but simple lunch menu.

Super friendly staff, nice location, plenty of parking. However, the vegetable quiche is dry with hard pieces of vegetables in it. Tasteless.

We had a standard three course menu because we were a large group (13 people). I had the vegetarian menu, with the main course being a vegetable quiche. That disappointed me. The dishes on the normal menu are always tasty and fun combinations. The quiche was nothing special, in terms of taste or ingredients. It's a pity that this dish was chosen for vegetarians. The starter with burrata was tasty, the dessert was fine but not very special. I won't be going here with a group again anytime soon.

What a gem in Nijmegen! This hotspot is perfect for a delicious dinner and a nice drink. The menu is great and the place is also very nicely decorated. In the summer, the spacious terrace also turns into a mini festival site. You want this!

Eating out with my in-laws, what a great evening! Niko really pampered us. A lot of attention to the wine and the atmosphere. Bram has prepared delicious dishes from the kitchen! Florian really knows his flavors, the kimchi hollandaise with the pointed cabbage, my god I like liters of that!!! We had a wonderful evening, it's a shame that not many people know the backyard because man oh man, what a phenomenal place this is!

Had dinner here for the 2nd time and was pleasantly surprised by the new dishes on the menu. If you are in Nijmegen, you must visit here. The sauces that the chef serves with the food are especially rich and memorable. I have never eaten pointed cabbage and beetroot so well before. Lots of local food and good price/quality ratio. The atmosphere is very cozy, you feel like you are in Antwerp. The only point was that there was a very nice DJ, but the sound was sometimes a little too loud. Recommended!!!

Ate here for the first time last week with family + grandma. Three of the four dishes were excellent, only the chicken was borderline overcooked/undercooked, which made it a bit questionable to eat. Hence 4 instead of 5 stars. Moreover, we happened to join the 'DJ Dining' evening, which we thought was a rather strange concept; a restaurant with loud music that makes it almost impossible to hear each other. Partly because of the really friendly waiter, we really enjoyed our evening. I don't know his name, but: compliments. You don't often find them like this in the service! I would love to come back again.

Ate here with a group. Made a reservation in advance and was told that given the size of the group (20), we could not order separately but would receive a range of sharing snacks. This is of course easier from an organizational point of view. Unfortunately not for the Back Garden... reserved at 6 p.m., around 7 p.m. the first food arrived: 3 bowls (for approximately 6 p.), after another wait for a while... 3 bowls again. The manager came over and explained: double appointment, inexperienced team... eventually had a tour of the business, neat! Unfortunately, some of the people I organized this dinner for had already left dissatisfied and hungry... Indicated in advance that 1 of the guests is allergic to red onion and cabbage. This would not be a problem…. Almost every dish contained these ingredients, so I finally asked him for a bowl of fries….

First time eating at De Achtertuin, concept of ordering several smaller portions, I had the salmon on recommendation and it was really great, plus the brioche trio, also excellent. Bread or fries are not included, so order immediately. Beautiful ambiance on the beautiful terrace with greenery, in short, highly recommended!

We especially moved from Utrecht to the Achtertuin because we had heard a lot of positive things about the food. We really enjoyed the sharing dishes and will definitely return here again. Was definitely worth the trip from Utrecht!

I have eaten several times and have been amazed every time by the tasty and varied dishes. A beautiful tent and a good atmosphere, both inside and outside. In addition to food, also very suitable for parties such as King's Day: enjoyed the nice weather, the DJs and the pleasant staff behind the bar!

Now I know 'De Achtertuin' mainly because of the unique location and the great parties. But now it turns out that you can eat very well there. The 'Shared Dining' concept guarantees a pleasant evening.

Had a nice meal during my reunion. We had a shared dish of meat/vegetarian/fish. Group was 20 people. Varied but personally I didn't think the food was much and there was sometimes just too much time between courses. Service sometimes took a little too long, but it was busy.
