What a terrible restaurant this is! We made a reservation in advance for cheese fondue with bread, baby potatoes, and vegetables. The cheese wasn't at the right temperature and was of very poor quality. They didn't have any baby potatoes left, and everything else was so disappointing. I wouldn't recommend this restaurant. It later became clear why it was so bad: they declared bankruptcy.

My girlfriend is allergic to gluten, we’ve asked twice that the bread should be gluten free. We get bread that’s not gluten free. Looked the same as normal bread. After asking a third time, they confirmed it is normal bread. I cant believe this but, they said - everything Is free except the drinks. You should pay for your drinks. I honestly am in shock about the type of human being that will give you bread that’s going to make you feel sick for days and later tell you that you have to pay for your drinks.

While writing this review we saw some photos: the meat and fish board for 2 people is many times larger, with sauces and looks varied. Our meat-fish platter had 1 dish of fish, 2 meat, salad and fries and a small sandwich. No sauce or butter. We waited 1.2 hours for this after first waiting 45 minutes and asking for a card ourselves. Is this because of the Fork's 50% discount offer that we were treated so scabbily? Without the reduction we would have spent 85 euros.... High marks despite bad reviews? How?

We had lunch at this restaurant on Saturday September 28. What a disappointment. A few tables had not been cleared, the menu was dirty and the lunch was of one taste. Boring! We showed up at 8pm on the Sunday of the Assen MotoGP, we didn't take telephone reservations because of the TT Festival and they didn't tell me that the kitchen would close at 8pm. They made an exception to the rule for us by constantly rushing us though. Very frugal menu: sandwiches, only chicken meat or fried meatballs. We literally ate through the funnel and left quickly. They didn't bring us a bottle of water but 4 regular glasses for the modest sum of €3.50 each! Not recommended, at least during the TT Festival.

We love coming there for a delicious lunch or just a drink! Cozy atmosphere and nice staff!

Today we ate in this restaurant for the 2nd time. In addition to the service making lame excuses because they had given the wrong croquettes, they turned out to have run out. In addition, the Thom Kai kay soup had no taste and the nachos came without cheese but with a cheese sauce. The atmosphere was okay, you could play games. Had dinner in Assen last night. The food was fine. The staff was friendly but not attentive. We received the menu quickly, but then it took a very long time before they showed up again and so it went on all evening: a long wait for the main course, then the table was not cleared (only after more than half an hour), our empty glasses were ignored and the waitress's beckon went unnoticed. They didn't look around at all to see if they could do anything. Not nice for us but also a missed opportunity for them. They could have earned more. In our estimation, there were enough staff and it was not too busy.

Tried this restaurant last Friday. Unfortunately I didn't like it. When we entered we were not noticed and we waited for a while before we could ask where we could sit. The waitress only seemed to be concerned with the table next to us, where apparently friends of hers were sitting. Our drinks were placed on the table, while she didn't look at us, but continued to chat with her friends. In addition, our order was misunderstood and we received the appetizer board instead of the vegetable tasting menu. We thought it could happen, so we didn't make a fuss about it. The drinks board was disappointing; many products seemed to come straight from the supermarket and not much attention seemed to be paid to them. The latter was also the case with the dessert tasting, which seemed to have been thrown on a shelf, topped with a few ugly dollops of spray whipped cream. When we asked about the drinks we had ordered, an excuse was given instead of an excuse. To the owner: this is an honest review as we experienced it. I don't need a passive-aggressive response to this, as I have read in previous reviews. Perhaps it would be better to put that energy into good instruction for the staff.

Disappointing. We have been there before, but we didn't like it yesterday. The starter was fine but the main courses were not tasty. Grandmother's hash didn't taste good and the chicken supreme was a mouse snack, so we ordered fries with it. When we complained, we were given free coffee as compensation. We won't go there for dinner anymore. maybe for lunch.

Visited a restaurant in Assen this evening It wasn't busy at all..., an omen? The prices for the dishes were very high, also considering the atmosphere in the restaurant. Ultimately opted for the B&S snack board, the accompanying bread with dips was only delivered afterwards, after asking, the loaded fries with hash were not particularly tasty, the fries were 'bitely' overcooked and lukewarm and the nachos ordered were covered with a slice of processed cheese and were served with uninspiring dips. The service was reasonable and happy that we left the place around 8 pm. All in all disappointing and for me certainly no reason for a repeat visit.

De Bakker en de Schenker in Assen is the place to be! Delicious dishes, super tasty for a very affordable price. Pleasant music, good decor, you can sit inside and outside! Organic wines recommended! Good beers on tap! Young staff. Fresh fun thing!

As icing on the cake, there was also a hair in the salad. The people next to us still hadn't had their coffee in almost half an hour, so they asked where it was. The tone remained, even after the people next to us politely asked where the sandwich was. Employee was not polite and sarcastic all the time. We were really annoyed on your terrace. It's fine that there are not enough staff, but don't open your entire terrace. And let people know in advance that it may take a little longer due to a shortage of staff.

Sat on the terrace for half an hour and the plan was to eat here. We ordered our drink and after about 8 attempts to contact the waitress to ask for the menu. Waitress was leaning against the paracol with her back to us. Then we were done with it. The atmosphere was not pleasant and we went to dinner somewhere else. We were just barely looked away. Not recommended!

Very friendly staff. The food was generally fine, only the boeuf bourguignon was very disappointing. Both in taste and quantity. The roasted apple that comes with it comes no further than three very thin slices that have been briefly fried in a pan. I wouldn't eat here for the normal price, but with The Fork 50% discount it was good value for money. A big plus is the lemonade on the menu. A great way to drink several glasses affordably on a hot day.

We had a delicious lunch in this restaurant or lunchroom. A very cozy place where it is very pleasant to stay. What a cozy interior. Very friendly, smooth and personal service. We were served by a very friendly young lady who was very attentive and did her best to please us. The cappuccino ordered was tasty and hot with a piece of cake. The bouncers were very tasty. With 2 thick slices of country bread with a tasty crispy crust and ham with well-fried eggs, it was delicious. Recommended. It is a very short walk from the Drents museum.

Went here for dinner last Friday evening. Bread platter starter, steak main course, dam blanche dessert. Staff very cheerful and helped quickly. Unfortunately, the next morning I immediately caught a severe stomach flu that still has me in bed. There must have been something wrong with the food. No idea what, but very unpleasant!!!

It tasted good, but I think it's a bit on the expensive side. I thought that was true for the entire city center of Assen, except if you're looking for pizza; I looked outside more restaurants. It was 3.50 for a Hertog Jan 0.0 and 4.50 for a Leffe Blond 0.0. The Yellow Beet starter was tasty, but a very small portion for €8.50. I think the Veggie Fries are OK. Tasty vegetables, but little. Awkward little plank, instead of a plate. That seems to be hip, but it doesn't appeal to me.

Had coffee and a cake at De Bakker and De Schenker this morning. It's so nice there. Friendly service, delicious cake (large pieces too) and delicious coffee. I ordered the cappuccino with caramel syrup. It could have been in a slightly larger cup. This was almost teacup size. The cake, on the other hand, was really huge. A monchou with delicious lemon curd on top. There was barely enough lunch left ;-) Someone arrived after 3 minutes to take the order. We had our order within 15 minutes. Friendly staff. It wasn't very busy at 11am, but slowly more people arrived after an hour. No loud music in the background. You can have a nice chat. And sit comfortably on tracks or chairs. Tastefully decorated too. I would like to come again. Thank you!

My outing after a few days of camping went incredibly well. Seriously the best 'on side salads' in Roden. Never had such delicious fish and chips before, haute cuisine! The sundae was royal. And the service; a most adorable young professional, friendly woman. Overall a great experience. Definitely come back. NB: it turns out I wrote this for the Assen location, sorry. The honor really goes to the Roden location. But definitely also eat in Assen

But now the service is deteriorating rapidly (waiting fifteen minutes on an almost empty terrace) and the boards we ordered are now only half full and very greasy in material. It's still possible for a cup of coffee, but for the rest we won't be sitting there again anytime soon. We have tried a few times, but now we really give up hope......

I am not very satisfied with this restaurant. It was not the fault of the service, which was very polite and friendly. But my chicken was tasteless. And not really very cooked and was pale.
