De Baron Vlaardingen - In de Nieuwe Watertoren in Oostwijk

A cozy, atmospheric brasserie with a lovely terrace. Very welcoming and friendly staff with excellent service. You'll need to be a little patient when it's busy, but if you sit on the terrace, that's no problem. Delicious, flavorful dishes.

It was very busy, but we were notified in advance so we could accommodate. The terrace is pleasant, but a major drawback is the smoking (while children were sitting on the terrace), which means you ingest not only delicious food but also a fume of harmful substances.

The Baron was very disappointing. We had lunch on July 5, 2025. I ordered a chicken satay with white bread and my girlfriend a wrap. My dish came with brown bread. I reacted, and the server said, "Oh, this is also delicious!" I accepted that. I took one bite of satay. It was cold and half-frozen, and the sauce was truly awful. The frozen satay from Aldi, Lidl, or Albert Heijn tastes better. I called the server. I explained what was wrong, put my hand on the cold, not grilled, but half-thawed satay, and complained. "Would you like some more?" Well, no, I'd rather not, just give me a ham sandwich. When I and my girlfriend were paying, they said, "We didn't charge for the satay, and you got the ham sandwich from us." So, it was a valid complaint on my part; otherwise, they wouldn't have reacted like that! The worst part is that the chef didn't even come and apologize. I would have given him my recipe for the ultimate satay sauce. I will never eat there again!

When visiting the toilet, the soap dispenser appeared to be empty. Reported this to the lady who served us. She thanked us and said she would make sure the soap would be refilled. After an hour, we visited the toilet again. The soap dispenser was still empty. Asked if she had forgotten. No, was the answer, but it is very busy and the terrace is also full. I do not find this hygienic and certainly not customer-friendly. A big minus point.

Had a lovely lunch on the terrace on March 6. Delicious dishes, top service, friendly, knowledgeable and calm. Truly a woman who knows her trade. Lovely terrace, lots of space between the tables.

What a nice place to eat. The outside terrace is beautiful. Quiet place. The service is pleasant and the food is delicious.

We had morning coffee here, sadly they couldn't serve food, I recommend booking a reservation before attending. Good coffee at a good price.

"De Baron" is a lunchroom, located in the former water tower at the bottom of the dike. Since the takeover, the interior has been tastefully improved. Since they close at 6:00 PM, it is not a dinner restaurant. Nice atmosphere.

Good food. Good service. The reason that you just don't get a 5th star is that your website only shows the lunch menu. If the dinner menu is also included, you will score 5 stars everywhere. P.s Latte and Espresso are the tastiest coffees. 2nd place normal coffee. 3rd place cappuccino.

Celebrated my 30th birthday here. Everything was arranged down to the last detail. It really exceeded my expectations how this evening went. Very sweet and warm staff! Literally everything was taken care of, presents were immediately taken and put away. Drinks flowed freely and I had a new one in hand before the previous one was gone. Also great culinary snacks, not the standard snacks you normally see. I have only had compliments about you and the beautiful location of my guests! I would like to thank you very much for this wonderful evening I had. Nothing but praise!

Ended up here at lunchtime during a walk in the area. Upon entering, we were first told that all tables were reserved, but we were still able to take a seat for a cup of coffee and a piece of apple pie. To be honest, I think €34 for 2 cappuccinos, 2 fristi and 3 pieces of apple pie is disproportionate. Furthermore, it is a beautiful place, nice ambiance and friendly staff, but I will not go back for such a snack anytime soon.

New map. Unfortunately my favorites are gone. The Bagel, the club sandwich, the tuna salad sandwich. It's a real pity that only Cafe de Waal remains. Nothing wrong with that! I think this is really going to cost you customers. You will definitely lose 20 visits with multiple people

Fairly new (has been there for a few years but is getting better) gem in Vlaardingen. Located in the older water tower on the edge of the Oranjepark. When you sit outside, watch out for flying parasols...😉

Had a lovely lunch for grandma's birthday. I had the bread with pork belly, our eldest daughter the club sandwich. We did Sam Sam. Both delicious. My wife had the satay and it was very tender. Youngest daughter had a wrap with spicy chicken. That was a big bite and she couldn't finish it. Just tried it and it was also very tasty. Grandma had not tasted the croquettes and these, but according to mother they were the tastiest croquettes from the brand??? Apple pie from Dudok, a household name in Rotterdam and the surrounding area. Grandma just wanted some ice cream with whipped cream and strawberries, which was not on the menu. No problem, we just make a portion. Look, I like that. We know a lot of Vlaardingen, but had never been here. Beautiful ambiance in the old water tower Worth repeating. The only downside could be the paid parking, but definitely worth the money.

On Thursday, August 15, we held a memorial drink with the family at De Baron. The staff assisted us all afternoon in a very professional manner, the snacks and drinks were of high quality and the contact in advance with the owner was very warm. Very nice that we could say goodbye in this way and celebrate the lives of our mother and grandmother!

Only had a drink there. Haven't seen the menu. When the weather is nice it is a nice place to be. I haven't been inside.

Although they are actually closed on Sunday evenings, we were still able to celebrate my parents' 60th wedding anniversary here. The food was excellent and the service was truly fantastic. They have a nice chat and also show off their dance moves, great!

Private party, very well organized with delicious snacks, we lacked for nothing. And also very nice and spontaneous service!

The Baron takes its name from the Bassie and Adriaan program. Good food in what used to be the water tower. Only lunch. Everything is great, but don't forget your sweater.

We had high tea with family, 15 people. Nice location, cozy inside. 1 point: the scones were dry, there was unsweetened whipped cream. But what really comes with it is a bowl of jam. (Good jam) you have to (cut) the scones and spread them with jam and whipped cream!

We ended up here because of a gift voucher we received. The atmosphere is very nice and atmospheric, the service is truly excellent. It is not really a restaurant for dinner, although we had delicious chicken satay with fries on Friday evening. The menu is too limited for that (due to the kitchen being too small). Very suitable for lunch and drinks. We had beer and appetizers beforehand. Recommended and we will definitely come again.

Yesterday we celebrated my wife's birthday. This was a triple celebration. And because of the memorable day, the company; the excellent, friendly service; the tasty plates we were served. Because 1 participant had to leave early, this was responded to very quickly and adequately. Bravo! But it is also recommended to make reservations more often for the rest.

We regularly visit the Baron. Service is very friendly and everything is taken care of down to the last detail! And the dishes? Those are delicious! My tip to come and experience the fun for yourself 😃 Favorites that I recommend: pork belly sandwich, fish trio and steak tartare…. 10+

Een leuke locatie maar een nogal matige ervaring. Onder meer bestelde ik een broodje tonijnsalade dat naar keuze op wit of bruin brood wordt geserveerd. Het bruine broodje was vers en knapperig en in de lengte doorgesneden . De tonijnsalade erop was huisgemaakt maar nogal fantasieloos en bedekte 1 helft van het geserveerde broodje . Het was niet veel, zodat mijn andere helft van het broodje uiteindelijk onbelegd was . Een en ander gegarneerd met wat sla. Een bestelde kop koffie kwam pas na herhaald verzoek op tafel . De prijs en kwaliteit verhouding is wat mij betreft niet op orde . Op tafel stond geen peper en zout om de vlak smakende tonijnsalade wat meer pit te geven . De akoestiek is ook matig in de ruimte zodat het er best lawaaiig was. Met tonijn ( uit blik) kan je beslist veel smakelijke salades maken maar hier ontbrak het aan elke creativiteit . Ik kom hier niet terug .

Na eerder terrasbezoek besloten ons 50jarig huwelijk met een uitgebreide lunch te vieren in "de Baron".. het was fantastisch!! Ontvangst met bubbels, beeldig versiert en heerlijk gesmuld van lekkere gerechtjes! Voor ieder wat wils (ook vegetarisch) mede door fijne bediening en "warme" ontvangst was onze dag helemaal geslaagd!!! Een aanrader!!
