This was my favorite restaurant in the Veluwe. It's a shame they went bankrupt. I hope they reopen someday.

We had a delicious meal in a cozy atmosphere. Friendly service that is also very considerate regarding allergies when ordering. This is a keeper for us.

The food there is delicious! The service was also incredibly friendly. The only downside is that there is absolutely no garnish included with a piece of meat that easily costs 30. And I mean absolutely no garnish. No vegetables or potatoes, etc. You have to order all of this separately and pay quite a hefty extra fee, right down to the sauce. We thought that was a shame.

On Friday, July 24, 2026, we had a delicious dinner at De Boerenschuur. Upon arrival, we were greeted very kindly by a staff member, who also escorted us to our table. There, our order was taken by another very friendly young lady. We had a delicious Carpaccio as a starter and a mixed platter as the main course. We have been here several times before and know this restaurant. It was simply TOP-NOTCH and definitely worth repeating. In any case, we will be back here again.

We had a delicious meal; we had the servant's menu… it was amazing. Everything was prepared with equal taste, beautifully presented, and the service was very friendly. Coming from the south of the Netherlands, we love paying this visit!

Delicious food from grandmother's time. Reservations are definitely necessary! The only thing I personally find a slight downside is that you have to order everything separately with your dish. So a steak is just steak, no sauce, no garnish, no salad, no potatoes or fries; this can drive up the price of a dish quite a bit. Apart from this, it is a great place!

We thought we were going to have a nice meal, but customer friendliness/hospitality was nowhere to be found. We wanted to eat with 5 people; half the place was empty, but there was no table available. It is truly scandalous that we were turned away. Probably because we can't earn enough with 3 children who, by the way, were over 10. Or they don't need the money. We will go eat somewhere else where we are welcome. Really missed the mark!!

2 main courses with 2 side dishes and bread beforehand was more than enough. I couldn't manage dessert 😊. The food was decent; the pork tenderloin with brie and bacon was cooked a bit too long, and the steak a bit undercooked. With 2 beers and 2 carafes of water for 84 euros.

One of the few places where they still serve homemade fried potatoes with the dishes. Simple enough, you might think, but they don't do it anywhere in the Netherlands anymore. They do here, though, which is reason enough for five stars. The rest is also excellent, by the way, and the prices are very reasonable.

What an incredibly cozy restaurant this is. We had a truly delicious meal. They serve tasty craft beers. The desserts are also top-notch. The Monchou tart is finger-licking good. You definitely have to eat here sometime! A solid 10.

Right from the moment we made the reservation, we were greeted in an incredibly friendly manner. We were also warmly welcomed upon arrival, making us feel welcome immediately. The service was professional, hospitable, and knowledgeable about both the wines and the dishes. Our waitress, Myrthe, deserves an extra compliment. She was particularly friendly, attentive, and helpful, ensuring that we wanted for nothing. All in all, it was a great experience. Delicious food, excellent service, and a lovely atmosphere. Nothing but praise for the team at De Boerenschuur. We would certainly love to come back again!

The starter started well. The chicken wings were atmospherically served in a wooden block. We then chose steak and mixed grill as a main course. We could still choose side dishes and sauce, so we ordered fries with mayo. We didn't think about other sauces. Often there is already garnish on the plate. Not here, though. That was disappointing; although the quality of the meat was good, it still comes across as meager after such a starter. Tip: add 1 euro, ask which sauce they want with it, and also place some lettuce, tomato, or something similar next to the meat. The platter with a selection of desserts from the menu, on the other hand, was top-notch. But a main course should stand out, and this one didn't.

What a wonderful restaurant this is. Exactly what we are always looking for. Beautiful location, cozy decor, knowledgeable and friendly staff, and last but not least, we had a delicious meal. We will definitely be back sometime when we are on vacation in the area. So, see you soon! Maria

Good food, the spareribs were well done and the meat almost fell off the bone, the service was very friendly and the dessert was also super tasty. Went there again today, 26-06-2026; it was delicious again, good quality spareribs, so definitely recommended again.

We had a delicious meal in a cozy setting with friendly staff. Some tips: The house Merlot was tasty, but the glass could be filled a bit more for €5.00. The fries and roasted potatoes were delicious, but a bit on the lukewarm side. We will definitely be back.

Very cozy. Good service. We had a delicious meal; we had a "servant menu" (from 2 people). Starter (delicious fresh bread rolls with herb butter and aioli), main course (a very well-stocked platter with variety) and a dessert (slate board with a dessert tasting). €42 p.p. Highly recommended and you are absolutely stuffed (in our opinion, also suitable for 3/4 people).

If we go to the Veluwe, you simply have to visit this restaurant, right in the middle of the Veluwe forests in a beautiful spot: a lovely farmhouse, and everything is decorated in such a rustic style. The menu is very varied and the price-quality ratio is also good. The staff is very friendly and contributes to the cozy atmosphere. Had a delicious meal two evenings in a row. Large spareribs with a baked potato. The spareribs were wonderfully tender and fell right off the bone. The stuffed tortilla shell with vegetables and spaghetti was also delicious! On the second day, we ate spareribs again and rustic fries with a chicken thigh skewer. This was very good too! The dessert was very tasty. The waitresses were friendly and served quickly! All in all, highly recommended. At a very reasonable price.

Unfortunately, we couldn't get lunch. (Only possible with a reservation in advance, even though it wasn't super busy). As a result, only coffee with apple pie.

Exceptionally delicious food, in a beautiful location in Vierhouten, with a wide selection on the menu. We chose the Farmer's Menu, which consists of 3 types of set menus: a choice of 2 types of soup for starters, and a main course consisting of 4 types of meat served on a long board. The meat has a delicious flavor, and the size and quantity are sufficient. For dessert, you get one plate with 3 pastries and scoops of ice cream; this is beautifully presented and very tasty. The location is just outside Vierhouten. The restaurant's interior is very nicely decorated, with real old items hanging high up. In short, you eat deliciously for an affordable price. Fast and very friendly service. You don't have to wait long for a question about whether you want another drink in between courses.

May 2025: Food was fine and served nicely, too bad about the chocolate ice cream (not a fan) and especially the banana ice cream (yuck!) with the grand dessert; a scoop of vanilla ice cream would have made a real difference. Found the price a bit on the high side. Staff were just a little too friendly, but they were nearby and very helpful. The barn with all sorts of themed trinkets was really nice; we sat on the side and even when you looked out the window (small side garden) the theme was continued, really nicely done. Edit/April 2026: Went back tonight. We were received quite arrogantly, the food was decent, but actually too expensive for what you got. We are not going back and didn't leave a tip this time either.

I just had a lovely meal here with my sweet partner and my father. The location is truly beautiful, tucked away in the Veluwe, which makes for a serene and pleasant dining experience. The food was good, and I must say that the side dishes were really better than expected. I would have liked my steak to be a bit more dry-aged, as it tasted like it came straight from the freezer, but otherwise it was deliciously seasoned and tasty. The cappuccino was also a very good way to end the meal. The service was very friendly and I would definitely recommend it for a cozy, relaxed afternoon with family or friends. This place has a special charm, both in the winter/colder months and in the summer/warmer months.

On vacation from Limburg, we decided to go here for Christmas Eve after seeing the atmospheric images on the website. The decor is incredibly atmospheric. We chose the farmhand's shelf. The wheelbarrow as a bread basket was one of the nice little touches. The food was delicious and well-prepared. Unfortunately, there was a baby next to us who wasn't keen on eating out, but the manager handled this very well. If we're ever in the area again, we will definitely come back for another meal.

Following an article in the Stentor newspaper, we made a reservation for tonight (Boxing Day) at 7:00 PM. What a great choice!! Everything is absolutely perfect. Delicious food, a great table, and super-motivated service. In a word, perfect.
