De Echte Bakker in Zwanenburg

Delicious bread, delicious lunch rolls. Very friendly help. There was also time for a chat. Great!

We slipped out of Schipol airport early morning after landing from the US, and stopped at this bakery after walking through the nearby park to get some breakfast to enjoy with the sheep and chickens at the park's farm/petting zoo between our flights. Overwhelmed by the choice of breads and deli meat/cheese, the staff were extremely friendly, excellent English, made us a couple of sandwiches from our choices. Locals love the place, joked with us that we'd be back in another hour for more. Just a fun quick local experience during international layover -- 15-20 min walk from the train station, direct from Schipol airport. I was not disappointed that we chose a stop in this village instead of trying to rush through old Amsterdam with our limited time.

Good croissants, even though they are a little bit soft, but nice and moist. The better ones in the neighborhood, at least!

The best baker I know. I don't eat much brown bread, but this brown bread tastes really good to me. I had almost forgotten what real bread can taste like. No more supermarket bread for me.
