We enjoyed a delicious Christmas dinner. The wonderful combination of flavors from the delicious food and a fitting Golden Carolus Christmas made for a perfect whole. We had a wonderful meal, and the tasting menu is highly recommended. The spareribs fell off the bone and were super tender. The chicken satay, well, what can I say? Super tender, and the satay sauce is absolutely delicious.

They certainly made an effort at the high tea; the savory dishes were delicious, and allergens were well-considered. The sweet treat was a bit disappointing in terms of taste; it looked lovely, but that might just be a personal preference. All hot drinks were included. The cupcakes were in the oven too long because they were a bit dry. Everything should be served all at once instead of in batches. We had a lovely afternoon.

We recently had an Easter brunch at the Galgenwiel and the hospitality and food were amazing, highly recommended to everyone.

Fantastic restaurant with very alert staff

We ordered fresh mint tea, and the person taking our order asked if we wanted honey with it, which gave us the impression we'd have to pay extra for the honey. Anyway. When we paid, we saw on the receipt that the fresh mint sprig had also been charged separately. Tea €3.10. Fresh mint €0.60. Honey €0.30. First of all, without the sprig, it's just a glass of hot water, not tea (after all, there's no teabag next to it, and besides, the sprig is already in it). €3.10 for hot water is ridiculously expensive. I've come to terms with paying for honey separately. But it feels the same as whipped cream, which is logically an extra. Honey, however, is a sweetener and should therefore be considered a sugar sachet. I wouldn't pay extra for syrup at a pancake restaurant either. I'm perfectly willing to spend €4 for a nice glass of fresh mint tea, but it's mainly about the feeling I get. If the service is friendly, if there's a decent bunch of mint and honey is always included. Not one of those accounting-grade cups of tea that's placed on the table as a mandatory extra. The service has been better on other occasions, but because the weather was nice and the terrace was packed, they were a bit stressed. The food is fine, but unimaginative. Next time, leave out that boring, wilted lettuce.

Before heading to Langstraat 80, I ate here with 10 friends. It laid a good foundation for a long run. It was very pleasant, the food was good, and the service was excellent. I forgot my raincoat in the shop, which was a real shame. Especially since I live on the other side of the country. They were kind enough to send it to me. Fantastic!

Last week we made a reservation for high tea at Het Galgenwiel. It was truly excellent, with plenty of treats for the taste buds, a lovely selection of refined tea flavors, and oh, you save the best for last! The caramel sea salt cheesecake!!! Simply delicious! So, do you have a good reason to celebrate, or just for the fun of it? We highly recommend the high tea at Het Galgenwiel!

Lovely, large terrace. Unfortunately, it's not smoke-free (a shame if you're eating and a non-smoker yourself). Situated on the edge of a beautiful hiking area, it's a good starting or ending point for a lovely forest walk.

We had a wonderful meal at De Galgenwiel. The menu is excellent, not too extensive, but there's something for everyone. Delicious dishes, both the starters and main courses. It was clear there was a staff shortage. It wasn't very busy, but we had a long wait, and there was a mistake with our order, which was resolved perfectly. Parking at the restaurant is scarce, but easily accessible with a short walk.

Delicious food, friendly staff, and a short wait. We made a reservation outside just to be safe. A small drawback was that many people were smoking, but we'll definitely be back.

Had a delicious meal on the edge of the forest. Dogs are allowed inside. It wasn't disturbing, it was pleasantly busy, and no food was wasted. I felt comfortable and at ease.

The main course: pork medallions with mushroom sauce; I really enjoyed the sauce. The fries were also excellent (not greasy). A good portion for an average eater.

Neatly received. We had reserved for inside, but given the nice weather we wanted to sit outside. This was no problem. We had received a lunch box. We had a delicious lunch. Definitely worth repeating. There is a waiting time of 10-30 minutes, this was only for the hot lunch, we received the coffee and tea within 5 minutes.

Yesterday evening (read June 7) we went to eat in the Galgenwiel again. Excellent as always and a very friendly environment.

You get a gift card from your group of friends. You use it to 'have lunch' You make a reservation. So far so good. You arrive on the day of the reservation. You are told that you have a gift card. You spontaneously get another card from which you can choose? As if you scored some kind of SocialDeal. There is a cup of coffee or tea with the gift card. But a cappuccino is 100% on the bill because that is not included in the "deal" but I don't have a deal I have a gift card. Okay, the food ordered a melted beef sandwich. Way too greasy. It seemed like the Bolognese minced meat sauce with a slice of cheese on it, I did miss the pasta. The chairs where you sit at the table are not made for people of 1.83 too low so you automatically lean forward on the too low dining table. Normally the table wobbles. Now the plate wobbled when you wanted to cut your sandwiches. Was the plate crooked, or was there a bump in the table top? Maybe you can have a great drink here after a forest walk or bike ride, with a brown fruit basket? But I'm not sure I'll join you here again. We didn't feel very welcome. Too bad for a catering establishment. May 2025.

I can't give it a zero rating...because they didn't earn more..we went to eat on Easter Monday, we had something else first, but it was closed..called this address and we thought it was crazy that we could go straight away..two of us, had ordered plaice fillet, for 29.50 euros per person..you had to look for it with a magnifying glass..a third person had ordered the ham..it was dry, like cardboard..I had to pay 147.50 for three people..was sick the whole weekend..waste of money.. Never again

Heerlijk gegeten, vriendelijke bediening. Fijne omgeving. Gezellig een hapje gedaan in een fijn gezelschap. Was zeker de moeite waard

Wijziging van de reservering ging vlot. Ondanks dat de kaarten al op tafel lagen toen wij arriveerden, werden onze wensen pas 40 minuten later opgenomen. Bij het voorgerecht was de soepkom slechts voor de helft gevuld. Bij het hoofdgerecht werden de frietjes opgediend, toen we onze borden half leeg hadden. De bijbestelde frieten werden op tafel gezet, toen we ons hoofdgerecht al 20 minuten op hadden. Ook de kaarten voor het dessert werden pas 20 minuten gegeven na onze vraag. Wij hebben ruim 3u daar gezeten om van een 3-gangen-menu te kunnen genieten. Borden + Porties zijn niet overdreven groot, graag hadden we ook meer groentes gezien. Het opgediende is wel lekker, maar dus niet zo heel veel. Bediening is vriendelijk. Maar op het moment dat wij er waren, hebben we de plateau's minstens 5x horen klingelen achter de bar/keuken. Leeggoed van het drinken op tafel werd slecht opgeruimd. De eerste theekop stond er 3 u later nog.

After contacting us a few times by telephone and email to discuss everything thoroughly, 20 of us went for drinks here on a Sunday from 12:30 to 3:00 PM. I received very pleasant help from the staff and everything that concerns us was arranged very well. The space, the last minute adjustments, everything no problem. I am very pleased with the friendliness and helpfulness. We will definitely come back here.

Normally we always have lunch at the galgewiel, which is always perfect whatever you take. Excellent price-quality-quantity. We also wanted to try dinner, there were six of us. We each had a starter, main and dessert. Whatever you take, the quality and taste are excellent. Unfortunately we all had the same experience about the quantity, which is actually disappointing. And we are certainly not all big eaters. If all plates are completely empty, this may mean that the portions are just enough or not enough. In our opinion, the portions could be a little more.

Nice location. Serving food is an area for improvement. We were 3 people. Of which 2 people were served at the same time and the third was served 13 minutes apart. There was no lettuce for 1 person, even though this was ordered separately and there were no fries for 1 person? The menu is extensive but the fish tempura doesn't taste like anything. You can't taste the fish. Veal medallions with roasted tomatoes, these were 4 candy tomatoes and there were no mushrooms in the mushroom sauce. Spare ribs had no choice of marinade . Very unfortunate. Service staff walked past each other when ordering and the ordered was served after 2 contacts with 2 people from the service. Staff remained friendly, business operations have a task here! Price is not commensurate with quality.

We hebben onze GiftForYou voucher gebruikt om een keuze te maken uit het daarvoor samengestelde 3-gangen menu. Je zou denken dat zo’n “coupon menu” karig is (vanwege de low budget promo). Echter niets bleek minder waar. We hebben echt overheerlijk gegeten. Bediening is uitsteken (vlot, vriendelijk, zeer gastvrij, servicegericht). Daarbij opgeteld de uitstekende locatie op het ruime buitenterras, aan de bosrand, laat deze culinaire beleving een uitstekende herinnering achter. Zeker een aanrader, dus onze 5 sterren waardering is dik verdiend.
