A fantastic place to drink some quality brews. Also lots of 0% beers more choice than most bars have of normal beers. Staff friendly and very helpful. Lots of board games to play and nice outside seating. Did not eat here so can't comment on food.

Large selection of beer, European prices 4-6 euros

It used to be THE place. While being students we would come here if not every other day than every weekend, play some chess with a local “champ” and enjoy the atmosphere. It was truly a place where everyone was welcome and we as international students would learn some Dutch speaking with locals and learn why we need to choose Grolsch over Heineken (cmon we’re in Overijssel). Couple years since we all moved to work in other cities, we decided to visit (we are all a group of ~30 year olds). One of us has forgotten their ID, someone else brought their fries (I know omg). We acted politely and didn’t create any problems to anyone. We were kicked out. And yes, you can say it is against the policies and that the staff had the right to do so. And you’ll be technically right. Although, this is against what this the opposite of what it used to be, when you could even bring a shawarma with you as long as you and everyone else had a great time. Sad to see this change, whether it’s just us holding onto what’s not there or whether it is a real loss of a soul of one of the most ambient places in the town.

Selected this cafe in advance to visit. Beautiful location, at the back of the De Waag museum. Large selection of Dutch craft beers on tap or in bottles/cans. Cozy and pleasant cafe, especially when sitting inside. Definitely worth a return visit. Top notch.

A cozy spot with an extensive beer selection where we could unwind after the Zutphen-Deventer day hike. The house beer (the Bezemst'ale) tasted great, and the beers that followed were good too.

Extremely busy, and with only two people behind the bar, the wait is a bit longer. But it is Deventer's best beer pub.

I was here with my son and he had a special request. The staff enthusiastically went looking for it for him, but ultimately made him a mix between a whiskey and a stout beer. It's really nice how the staff here go the extra mile for you!

What a nice pub. During the day, families also come here to play board games. Cozy atmosphere, a very wide beer selection, friendly service, and a large choice of specialty beers. Highly recommended. Also for Sunday afternoons. Lots of good conversations over a nice beer. An institution in Deventer and the surrounding area.

Lots of different beers, friendly staff, and great music! Great atmosphere.

On Friday afternoon, there was one employee who could barely keep up. If a guest brought in two handfuls of empty glasses instead of thanking us, they'd be scolded for putting them near the sink on the corner just behind the bar. This guy had no idea what hospitality was about. We left instead of placing a new order. We did tell him we'd react differently in Brabant. Onlookers also found this person's reaction extremely strange. You won't see us back here.

A super fun traditional Dutch pub with an exceptionally large beer selection. We had a great time, and even though the bartender doesn't drink beer herself, she was able to give us some great advice. Before ordering, I was able to sample some without any problem. In short: a lovely afternoon with delicious beers, and the vegetarian bitterballen are 10/10.

Busy but super fun. People are open here and where you sit down is tasty against you. What we are not used to in the somewhat timid Friesland. Beautiful portions of snacks ... you don't have to share 5 bitterballen to just 10..bam. many types of beer, which you can taste first. And despite the crowds, they simply take the time for you. Just a smile. Actually I don't like crowded places but luckily I was persuaded.

Have never eaten anything here, but the best pub in Deventer. Diverse audience easy going. Highly recommended

Cozy beer café with an extensive choice of beers on tap and bottled/canned. Two negatives: the toilets are tatty and dirty. And the otherwise very friendly and competent staff do not let the draft beer 'drain' quietly and immediately place the foaming glass in front of you.

Potentially a very nice cafe. We were there with a group of 14 people and there was quite a bit of "digestion". Too bad there was no service, so people from the group always had to leave to get drinks inside. We sat on the terrace at the bar. Next time we will look for a different "tent".

What a wonderful pub this is. Really one as it should be. Also very similar to Cafe België in the Utrecht city center. Many types of beers on tap, bottled or canned. Friendly staff and you can smell the yeast. It might be a bit noisy inside, but I didn't mind. You can also sit outside and enjoy the beers. I didn't eat, hence no stars. I will definitely do this again next time I am in Deventer.
