Had a delicious meal, a real brown pub with star power!

Overall, it was cozy and the food was good. However, I felt the price was a bit out of balance with what you got. With the name 'eetcafé' (eating café), I expect affordable dining. All in all, it is a nice place to eat.

Still a wonderful place to enjoy a delicious meal. Unfortunately, the dessert was a major disappointment. It was marketed as Sachertorte, but it was such a loose interpretation that it didn't even remotely resemble it.

Really a great restaurant. Good food at a normal price. The old cafe breathes the old atmosphere of Candlelight. Staff is great. There is also an outside terrace when the weather is good. Definitely a restaurant to often eat a nice meal.

We ate here with a group of 14 people, and everything was delicious. However, a dish was "forgotten" twice. The first time was a starter, forcing the rest of the group to wait for one person. The second time, one of us was served the wrong main course. While this can happen, it was certainly undesirable. However, the food was truly delicious and very affordable. The atmosphere and ambiance are fantastic, and the acoustics are superb. In short, I'll definitely be back!

A top restaurant in Hilversum for years!

It was fun again last night! And a delicious meal.

Even if you drink more than €200 worth of alcohol with a group, don't think you can get a glass of tap water. “No, the boss only allows us to offer spa blue.” Next time this boss will move on to another pub that understands service, atmosphere and responsible serving of alcohol.

My new local go-to for a nice meal, having just moved from the UK to NL. Language is rarely an issue here, they’re very understanding of non-native speakers but we were not provided an English menu and had to use translate (completely understandable, but just noteworthy as some restaurants do cater more so to English). Food is a little on the pricier side, but portions are generous. Generally very good, taste wise. So far, I’ve gone for Schnitzel and Burger, both were excellent and very filling. Sides were also delicious. Service is okay — little slow for my taste, but still very approachable and polite.

After shopping, grab something to eat quickly. You can always eat well at De Kaars. It took a while for the waiter to come to the table, perhaps because we were very early in the evening.

It is a cafe with excellent food, nothing more than that. I don't understand why many people are crazy about spareribs. You need a knife for them, and then they are just not as they should be. Not nearly tender enough. Marinade is good, but if you have a piece without marinade it is disappointing, so there is relatively little flavor in the meat itself

Really a (neat) brown pub. Good atmosphere and delicious food here. Carpaccio is very tasty, mixed grill was disappointing (dry meat except for the delicious spare ribs!), excellent fries. And the Big Soos was a grand dessert. Although it is a traditional pub, the food is quite expensive. You must order and pay extra for fries and vegetables separately.

We walked through the street, actually looking for another place to eat, but the Candle looked nice. Asked inside if there was still a spot. Not reserved, but still welcome. Got a quiet spot, a bit tight, but it went fine. Quick service and delicious food at a very reasonable price.

Schönes gutes Restaurant in Hilversum! Bei unserem letzten Hilversum Besuch, haben wir gegen 16 Uhr etwas zu essen versucht , aber fast alle Restaurants waren nocht geschlossen. Zum Glück sind wir auf 'De Kaars' gestoßen. Die Suppen waren dort sehr lecker. Es gibt auch viele verschiedene Sorten des Tees und natürlich Bier! Ich kann dieses Restaurant jedem nur empfehlen. Beim nächsten Hilversum Besuch essen wir gerne da nochmals!

Heerlijk gegeten. Zelf moet ik glutenvrij eten en had dit bij reserveren aangegeven. Er was glutenvrij brood en alle twijfels over gluten in het eten werden meteen met de kok besproken. Vriendelijk personeel en fatsoenlijke koffie. Top!

Tja. Het is al tijden rommelig en onpersoonlijk bij de kaars. De ene keer meer dan de ander. De prijzen zijn hoog. De bediening matig en de keuken vertraagd. Tijd om de kaars even een tijdje links te laten liggen.

Eens niet ter plaatse eten maar eens afhalen. Binnen 15 minuten alles klaar. Ook nu weer allemaal heerlijk gegeten. Dus afhalen ook een dikke 5 sterren. En zoals altijd vriendelijk personeel.

Geweldig eetcafe met heerlijke gerechten, een gezellig terras en vriendelijke bediening.

Voor een eetcafé heeft dit café wel heel goed eten, personeel was ruimschoots aanwezig en alles liep gesmeerd. We zijn niet heel lang gebleven maar we komen zeker terug. Mijn spareribs waren buiten gewoon mals viel zo van het bot af en de smaak was echt goed. Ook de carpaccio was vers en heeft een goede smaak combi van truffel en parmezaanse kaas. (Misschien iets te veel sla ). We hadden ook een probeer plankje met alle voorgerechten erop , soep carpaccio gamba gerookte zalm en nog iets echt een aanrader als je niet kan kiezen. Ondertussen zagen we de borden met tournedos voorbijkomen bij een tafeltje naast ons en ik hoorde alleen maar complimenten. Dus daar kom ik voor terug.

Een organisatie die zich inzet voor een wereld van minder verspilling. Ze hebben al verschillende winkels als partners ook.

Supergoeie carpaccio! Vriendelijk personeel. Waren met 7 personen met verschillende gerechten die allemaal erg lekker waren!

Geweldige tent, de kok bakt de heerlijkste gamba’s man man man ik kom altijd 10 kilo aan tijdens de gamba weken

Gezellige ongedwongen sfeer met n leuke bediening en lekker eten.

We mochten gisteren tv-opnames bijwonen dus vandaar even een hapje eten in de buurt. De menukaart sprak me aan dus zodoende hier beland. Was een goede keuze. Men hield rekening met het feit dat we op tijd weg moesten en hebben ontzettend genoten van de sate van de ossenhaas (werkelijk heerlijk) en de mixed grill (ook erg lekker). Als nagerecht hadden we de petit grand dessert en dat was ook allemaal super lekker. De bediening was snel en vriendelijk. Kortom; aanrader!

Eten laten bezorgen. Er werd heel snel geleverd, en het eten was heerlijk. Zeker voor herhaling vatbaar..

I ate here with my daughter on Saturday evening and really enjoyed it. Prices are reasonable and the restaurant has a really nice ambiance. What topped it off was the very friendly waiter who served us. Lovely evening.
