De Nieuwe Vangst in Westlandgracht

De Nieuwe Vangst was one of the highlights of my visit to Amsterdam. The seafood was incredibly fresh, flavourful and prepared with great care. The quality of the ingredients really stood out and every dish was beautifully presented. The staff were welcoming, attentive and happy to offer recommendations from the menu. The restaurant had a relaxed and inviting atmosphere, making it a great place to enjoy a meal with friends or family. The portions were generous, and the overall dining experience offered excellent value for the quality provided. I would definitely recommend De Nieuwe Vangst to anyone looking for fresh seafood and great service in Amsterdam.

Excellent fish. After reading the reviews, I didn't try the kibbeling, but the sandwiches are excellent. Friendly people, too.

What a disgrace this so-called fishmonger is to fishmongers who actually understand the trade. This man and his wife sell fish from the display case and heat it up in the microwave. It's disgusting and disgusting, and they charge €9. They're not fishmongers, they haven't eaten anything, and they don't understand the trade. Can I also buy fish from Albert Heijn, heat it up, and then charge €8?

Not much on the shelves. The kibbeling is heated up in the microwave, and on a salmon sandwich you get four small pieces of salmon on your bun. And that for almost 9 euros... Didn't taste good.

I went here to taste the new herring. I also wanted a portion of kibbeling. I had arrived in the morning. The lady walked out of the shop laughing with a large bag: she had bought up all the fried kibbeling and they wouldn't have any left for the rest of the day. A favor was asked: the herring would only be prepared for me once I had paid. I believe I had to pay €3.50 for a herring that was firm, not very salty, but still had that bloody taste and bones in it. This place is not worth a repeat visit. They were glad I was leaving because they couldn't manage to answer my goodbye.

I am not a fan of Kibbeling and prefer herring and eel (sandwiches). And personally, I think those are fantastic. I first visited the extension of the De Lieven complex, located diagonally opposite. Now I work in Amsterdam again, near the Olympic Stadium, and I went there to get sandwiches again for the journey home. I find the managers incredibly friendly and enjoy going there. Always a nice, easygoing chat, and I will come here more often when I am in the area.

Way too expensive for microwave fish!! Definitely not recommended.

Herring and eel are very tasty here! The people who work there are very friendly and hospitable.

If you order kibbeling, they heat it up in the microwave, yuck. Soft, nasty, and expensive.

Damage to fish sales! Kibbeling reheated in a microwave. And delivered half-cooked! A big, greasy mess! And way too expensive for the reheated stuff.

Just bought a tasty treat for 6.50, it was in the display case and was put in the microwave. Not crispy and dry. Will buy fish elsewhere in the future.

Kibbeling not tasty at all. Reheated in the microwave, crispiness was nowhere to be found, rather tough. Very disappointing

GREAT, a little take out stand next to a grocery store. The owner was very friendly to American tourists. I came here multiple times during my trip. The crab cakes were EXCELLENT. I would much rather save some money and eat here as compared to a sit down restaurant.

On a brackish afternoon we decided to get a nice fish, after arriving we decided to have a medium bowl of kibbeling. The owner took a container from the display case (I think it had been there for a while) and put it in the microwave. Such a preparation method did not look too good. After the first bite you noticed that the kibbeling was once crispy, all that was left now was a half cold/half wet bowl of kibbeling. It's a shame and that for just over 6 euros... The herring and salmon sandwich was quite tasty.
