I've been here several times, and every time the food is delicious and the decor is very cozy! We got a lovely spot by the window over Christmas, and everything was in a beautiful Christmas spirit then too! I've made another reservation so I can proudly show my children what a delicious menu you have!

What an absolute disaster. I had higher expectations for a restaurant positioned in the center of Beilen, but this was truly subpar. First of all, the service: a collection of children who were clearly just out of high school and had never held a tray in their lives. The "waitress" who served us could barely have been 16, constantly looked scared, forgot half the order, brought the wrong dishes, and spilled drinks on the table twice (without an apology, just walked on as if nothing had happened). Answering questions? No way. "Do you know if today's fish is fresh?" – shrug and "Uh, I think so." That level. The rest of the staff wasn't much older; boys and girls who weren't dry behind the ears yet, constantly getting in the way, whispering and laughing with each other while the tables remained covered in dirty plates. It felt like I'd ended up in a school cafeteria instead of a restaurant. The food wasn't much better: a dry steak that had clearly been sitting out too long, cold fries, limp vegetables, and a "homemade" sauce that came straight from an Albert Heijn jar. For those prices, you'd expect at least decent food, but this was canteen-level fare at Michelin-star prices. The atmosphere? Loud, messy, and uninviting. Tables weren't cleaned, glassware was greasy, and the restroom... let's just say I wouldn't dare go in there again. In short: stay far away. If you're looking for an evening of frustration, inexperienced teenagers pretending to work in a restaurant, and mediocre food for way too much money, then by all means go. Otherwise: drive on, there's absolutely nothing to be had at De Rooie Kater.

The atmosphere is pleasant, not too crowded, and you can truly enjoy dining out. Ordering is smooth and you can control the speed of the appetizers via your mobile phone. The restaurant is beautifully decorated, especially now that it's December. The only downside is that some dishes, when labeled spicy, are a bit spicy. It's not really noticeable. Otherwise, the three of us really enjoyed ourselves, and the service was excellent all evening.

The small plates concept is great! There's a lot of choice, so you can really enjoy a variety of dishes. Ordering with the code is also easy, and it was served quickly. Friendly staff, and we had a lovely evening. 🤩

Cozy restaurant with good service. The food is overpriced for what you get. Many dishes had chili sauce poured over them, otherwise they lacked flavor. Desserts and drinks were an added cost. Tip for the owner: invest in a skilled chef.

The food was good, but with a bit more finesse, the quality would improve. On a quiet evening, you can enjoy the dish without having to prepare it in advance. Cozy interior, good service, and definitely worth a return visit. It's good, but it could be better.

Nicely decorated restaurant, friendly and helpful service, but the food is actually quite unremarkable. The kitchen staff seems incredibly afraid of spices. The tomato sauce on the meatballs tasted like cheap canned tomato soup, everything that's supposed to be spicy came with sweet chili sauce (even on the salad, oddly enough), and the caprese was carefully omitted from everything that might actually make it tasty (basil, olive oil, salt). The corn was bland, the shrimp, almost everything, really. The fries and desserts were good, but all in all, I thought it was very expensive for what you got. For that price, you expect them to put a little effort into adding some flavor.

In a word, fantastic. The four of us friends enjoyed a relaxing and enjoyable evening. It felt like home, but here, the snacks and drinks were provided by your very friendly staff.

The food was good quality, and the concept was fun with various tapas like carpaccio, oriental chicken, and so on. The owner was friendly and welcoming. Highly recommended!

An accessible restaurant. Ideal for guests with children (or picky eaters). Simple and delicious (tapas/small) dishes. The service is very friendly and they respond well to feedback. Definitely worth a try.

Tonight I had dinner here with a friend. The waitress was a nice lady. In addition, the food was very tasty and nicely presented! The young boy who works in the kitchen also brought the food and almost dropped the container of mayonnaise, but that can happen to the best of us. Furthermore, the atmosphere was great and the food was there very quickly. We enjoyed it and will definitely come back again!

Had tapas here yesterday. The service was very young and inexperienced. The food was not tasty and dry. Also, almost everything we ordered came with a thick layer of Chili or flame sauce. Because some tapas were drowned in the sauce and therefore could not be eaten, we were charged 2 euros per leftover piece. Furthermore, the restaurant is very nicely decorated. And the atmosphere was good. We had to pay almost 100,- for 2 people and with 1x drink and dessert. Unfortunately, for what we got, a general disappointment.

The food is just like the red tomcat enjoying his plate of food. Rolling and satisfied we went home. 🐈. The food was very tasty and the service was good. We enjoyed it and will come back soon (in June😉)

Surprisingly good. Small (tapas) dishes, and of excellent quality.

The tapas concept used is new and they still have a lot to learn. Chicken dishes and pork tenderloin were overcooked and therefore dry. Many non-fresh/non-perishable products, sauces often the same. 1 round of orders never came and it takes a long time before you notice that. I don't think the price/quality ratio is good at almost 50 euros per person.

Last time it was still a bit chaotic because the concept had just changed, but now we had a delicious meal, and we were not stingy with the salmon... the mustard soup was also delicious.

The restaurant is really nice and cozy. You literally step into grandmother's time. Really great. The service was friendly. The food was tasty, but too simple for us. I'll call it Dutch-style tapas. Some dishes could have been a little warmer.

Ate here with my husband and we really enjoyed it. The tapas tasted excellent and the service was good. The tapas was delivered quickly during the dinner. Normally you would like to see the time between servings increase, but that is certainly not the case here. We recommend eating here.

To be honest, I was disappointed last time. Many dishes were lukewarm when we received them, even though it was very quiet. I also thought it was a small cocktail for what it costs. It's certainly not bad but honestly found this restaurant better in the past. Hopefully the weather improves.

Great atmosphere, and playful cozy layout. Deliciously many choices in small quantities brought to your table so you can taste everything. Good service. I would definitely go here again if I'm in the area! Big fat well deserved 5 stars.

A new concept and new dishes for about 6 months. In the meantime (already been twice) I have tasted almost all the dishes on the menu and I like the new concept. Unlimited tapas with good products, served quickly and the staff is also enthusiastic and cheerful.

Maybe it was because of Valentine's Day... but it really took too long between orders. A number of times one person received an order... while the other received an order 10 to 25 minutes later. Ordered twice and not received at all. This is not the intention of eating delicious tapas together. There was approximately 10 to 15 minutes between each order. Not for us again

Atmospheric restaurant and delicious food. The service was friendly and gave good explanations about the dishes. There is no time limit for the unlimited food, so you can make it a pleasant evening.

Nowadays tapas for a fixed price. We certainly had a nice meal, but we couldn't eat it for 29.50. So way too expensive. Too bad, this new concept.

Nowadays they have a tapas menu. Very varied and very tasty.

Wij wonen nu al 9 jaar in buurt van de Rooie Kater in Beilen, maar hadden hier nog nooit gegeten. Wat een positieve verrassing! De buitenkant nodigt niet uit, maar binnen is het zo sfeervol en het is ook heel fijn dat je niet bij elkaar op de tafel zit te kijken. De tafels staan ruim opgesteld. We hebben hier de bourgondische tapas gegeten. Verrassende gerechten, vriendelijke bediening en heerlijk gegeten. De oude website is nog in de lucht en dat is verwarrend want deze geeft het oude menu nog weer. Pas als je bewust de url derooiekaterbeilen.nl intypt kom je op de nieuwe site waarop het tapas menu staat. Dit moet nog even worden aangepast, want de oude site is heel rommelig en geeft een vertekend beeld door oude menu-kaart. Tip; zo snel mogelijk laten aanpassen en leuke recente foto's van interieur en exterieur plaatsen. Maar voor het eten en de sfeer een dikke tien!

Hadden tappas menu. Maar met 16 personen waren ze het overzicht wel kwijt. Eten smaakte verder wel goed. Denk voor kleine aantallen beter te doen is.

A restaurant in a museum, very quaint and cozy. We really liked the concept with the many small “tapas”. Four of us were there on a busy Saturday evening and had a great time. All dishes were very tasty! The service staff are very friendly. Gladly again!

De Rooie Kater in Beilen has a nice variation on the "all you can eat" formula... A Burgundian tapas menu. Various snacks with a Burgundian twist are served at the table in small portions. The choice is large, especially in the starters and side dishes. Everything tastes wonderful. The only point of criticism is the relative size of the portions. When you e.g. If you order ham with melon or fries and truffle mayonnaise, the melon is excessively large and you actually get an almost full cone with the fries. That is out of proportion to the size of all other small tapas dishes. The atmosphere is casually cozy, as if you were walking into an antique shop from the 1970s. Nice seats and the service is smooth, friendly and correct. We were at the table at 6 p.m., when it was still relatively quiet, so we were served all the tapas very quickly. Maybe that will be a little longer at a later date. Price-wise... Ate and drank with 4 people. Total: 203 euros. For us it was definitely worth it. Our compliments to the kitchen. The preparation of the meat in particular is excellent.

We had delicious tapas yesterday. Maximum 2 dishes per person per round, without time limit. The quality of the tapas is good. The service was very friendly, good explanations and quick to take the order. We didn't have to wait long for the tapas. I'll come here again...

They have just switched to Burgundian tapas, we were told. Good for when it is quiet, when it is busier you have to wait longer for your dishes. They can still improve a bit in terms of taste, but everything was at least good. I haven't had a dish that really wasn't tasty. Have I ever experienced something different?

Unfortunately, it has become an expensive tappas restaurant. Before that time it was just a nice restaurant with everything on the menu. We just drove on now.

Vannavond gegeten bij de Rode Kater in Beilen waar ze sinds een paar weken een bijzonder menu hebben: Bourgondisch Tapas. Nog niet op alle social media bekend. We hebben genoten op het terras op deze lekkere avond. Het eten was wisselend erg lekker. Dit zijn dan ook de rode kater gerechten maar dan in tapas vorm. Door de tapas kon je alles proeven, heerlijk. Sommige gerechten waren wat minder, maar dat waren meer de ‘standaard’ dingen zoals frikandel en poffertjes. De sate, vis, vlees (buikspek) was heerlijk. De vriendelijke en hard werkende bediening maakte de avond compleet. Een fijn avondje uit eten met gezin en logies.

The restaurant has recently changed its concept. Now you get the dishes as tapas. Maximum 2 dishes per person per round, without time limit. We were 4 people and shared almost all the dishes. I am positive about the quality of the dishes. The meat was well cooked, even the chicken was still tender. Everything had its own flavor and was nicely served. The workers were very friendly and fast. People were very interested in what it tasted like. We didn't have to wait long for the tapas. We will definitely come again sometime.

Luckily we didn't have to wait long for our food and the service was very nice. When the pizzas arrived we were disappointed. The pizzas were watery or full of oil. not really tasty, had little taste. If you go here I certainly wouldn't order pizza.

The food is good but it took a very long time to be served. We waited for over an hour which was not fun. They also constantly ask if you want anything to drink, which is annoying. Too bad because this is a reason for us not to come back.

Unfortunately the pizzas are 'under par'. 16.50 for a 4 formaggi pizza; Then it must be a good pizza, I thought. Nothing turned out to be further from the truth. I've never had so much tasteless cheese on one pizza. For the same amount of money I can get a delicious pizza from a real Italian. Unfortunately! Way too much Cheese, which is also tasteless. My friend also didn't eat her cheese ham anan pizza. I do NOT recommend the pizzas here!

Delicious food. Not small portions. The service is top notch. Nice staff. The atmosphere is okay, but no sparks fly. The interior is clean, but a bit messy. You gotta love that. All in all, a very suitable place to eat out.
