The food is delicious and the service is good. The seating is a bit noisy, though. Having a beer in the adjacent room is pleasant and much quieter.

in general, an okay restaurant a bit disappointed about the lack of meat options, however, the taste of the vegetarian options did make up for that! the service was unfortunate, often forgetting or mistaking things, an improvement would be writing it down, because its such a small menu doesnt mean you can remember an order for a bunch of people! in short, nothing to write home about this restaurant its not bad, but certainly not excellent either.

De Smoeshaan is a nice café where you can comfortably sit before attending a show at the Bellevue Theater. The bar area is cozy, and there's another section where you can sit with a bit more space. We only had tea. My companion ordered apple pie and found it disappointing.

I have been coming to De Smoeshaan occasionally for 20 years. Always good food. The menu is not extensive, but there is always something to choose from. Staff is very friendly and down to earth. No blah blah or fake nonsense. The food is relatively cheap compared to the drinks. Drinks are a bit pricey, but that's not the case these days. If you were 200 meters further on Leidseplein you would pay even more... I will keep coming anyway.

Delicious food, friendly staff, and a pleasant atmosphere. Areas for improvement: there's no newspaper available to enjoy a quick read.

It's a nice place to grab a bite to eat before the show. The food is decent, but the portions are too small. The prices are reasonable. However, the prices for draft beer are a bit high.

Got here five minutes before our reservation, ended up waiting 25 minutes to get waited on while people that came in later were already getting served their drinks. Eventually left without being served. Atmosphere was very brown cafe, gave a kind of murky vibe and the person that showed us to our table kind of seemed like she didn’t want to be there. Such a shame, because we were hoping to just grab a bite here before the show we were going to see at the Bellevue. Also read such good reviews so my hopes were quite high, bummer.

Excellent food and great to combine with a theater performance

Friendly staff, nice atmosphere, served on time. Natuurwijk was tasty. Not enough fennel in the fennel soup, dessert was disappointing, tagine with lamb sausages was tasty.

Matig eten gecompenseerd door vriendelijke serveersters. Plakkerige couscous met droge worstjes was geen aanrader. De Pastelli beetje apart, maar was wel lekker.

Met some friends here while we were in Amsterdam and love this spot. Solid beer selection, friendly staff, and was quiet in the afternoon. Would definitely come back if we are back in town.

Very pleasantly surprised by this restaurant. Friendly staff good selection of beers and food. From vega to an easy burger or sate but also starters and dishes that go far beyond barfood. Outdoor seating. Highly recommended

Vandaag lunch genoten. Ik had brood met kroketten en de vrouw brood met tonijnsalade. Verder La Chouffe van de tap en thee. Alles kwam snel (fijn, want veel tijd hadden we niet i.v.m. een volgende voorstelling), en voldeed geheel aan de verwachtingen! Bediening was vlot en attent! Zou er graag terugkeren. 💯

Altijd even naartoe wanneer ik in de stad ben. Bij mooi weer lekker aan het water zitten. Leuk personeel ook.

Ik kom hier graag. Fijn sfeertje en heel prettig, geen of nauwelijks toeristen.

Heerlijk eten, fijne wijn, goeie service. We kwamen met een gezelschap van 6, zonder te hebben gereserveerd. Was geen enkel probleem.

Handig om hier te eten als je naar theater Beleveu gaat. Hebben een leuke eenvoudige kaart en wat extra's buiten de kaart om. Goede prijs kwaliteit.

Altijd kans de echte belangrijke cultuurmensen van ons land en daarbuiten te zien. En ontmoeten, als jullie elkaar kennen.

Erg gezellig café bij het theater. Altijd weinig plek om te zitten. Maar geen probleem om tafel te delen hier. Koffie is prima!

Leuke zaak voor een drankje zomaar of na afloop van de voorstelling in Bellevue.

Geschikt om even wat te drinken in de pauze van een voorstelling. Hoog kantine gehalte, dus niet erg geschikt om zomaar wat te gaan drinken.

Typical real dutch cafe with an artistic swing. Lot of yongsters and metro people mixing with the real Amsterdam incrowd. You can see lesbians kissing, famous actors and just anything... relaxed atmosphere. Do try the Dutch Vieux (poor man's cognac) they serve.

Heel goed eten en tosti's tot sluitingstijd. Recht toe recht aan theatercafe. Fijne tent. Vaak wel heel druk.

Lekkere koffie goed bier en zeer vriendelijk personeel. Wat vooral fijn is het zit naast het theater en er komen geen toeristen, of tenminste ik heb ze er niet gezien.
