When I was younger, there was a place called Hip op t hoekje (Hip on the Corner). During our walk around Hippo, past old addresses, this is still a nice "resting spot." A good place to refuel, eat, and drink. So we could start our walk around Hippo.

De Smulhoek, the name says it all. A delicious treat what you get there. This afternoon we had a nice meal, my wife a nice pancake. And I had fries with sausage and a nice sauce and greens on the side. Delicious.

It's always a surprise what you find at the daycare center, the tasty corner. It's that it's the only snack bar in Hippo, otherwise I wouldn't have gone there. I understand that working and children is difficult, but it can also be crazy!

It is a bit far for us, but when we are in the area around lunchtime, we set a course for Hippolytushoef.

The food was a complete disaster! Fries were cold and the ketchup was anything but ketchup. At first we thought there was alcohol in it, but it was sour and inedible. The burger was soft and had hardly any flavor. The coffee wasn't tasty either! The service was nice but totally overwhelmed.

Food was good, nothing else to complain about. The service was less since we had to wait a long time and I ended up going to the counter myself for a 2nd round 💪

Gezellige bediening, familiebedrijf, prima gerechten, uitgebreidere kaart dan je van een snackbar zou verwachten, het is meer een eethuis. Enige terras in Hipolytushoef wat overdag open is. 👍

Even een fietstocht van Texel naar Den Oever gemaakt en even gestopt in Hippolytushoeve en op het gezellige terras van de Smulhoek heeeeerlijk geluncht . Zelf gemaakte tomatensoep en spek/kaas pannenkoek, en die was zo lekker dat ik er nog één heb besteld . Als je in de buurt bent, de moeite zeker waard om langs te gaan.

Vandaag op het terras gezeten mijn vrouw en een broodje kroket besteld dit kwam al danig afgekoeld aan dus terug gebracht en weer nieuw gekregen maar ook dit was niet super het brood was al zodanig oud dat ik het niet opgegeten heb. Ik heb dit gemeld bij de kassa er werdt niets mee gedaan ik heb maar betaald en ben weg gegaan wij komen dus nooit meer terug,jammer dit alles ik hoop dat jullie hier wat mee doen.

Uitstekende service en de patat was heerlijk, de slechte reviews kunt u totaal negeren er is namelijk niets van waar.

Sehr schönes Bistro mit abwechslungsreicher Karte direkt im Centrum von Hippo. Die Bedienung war äußerst nett. Wer ein gutes einheimisches Lokal abseits der Touristenorte sucht wird hier fündig.
