Due to the busyness, absolutely no attention was paid to us. It took almost an hour before we got something to eat. Absolutely no understanding or eye contact.

Nice restaurant, attentive service, but we found the food very overpriced considering the preparation and, in some cases, the portion size. Offering half an eggplant, not cooked properly and not particularly flavorful, for €22 is quite something 😐 My bavette was okay; the menu said it came with green asparagus, but unfortunately, there were only 1.5 spears. The rest was beans and snow peas. My tuna ceviche appetizer was rather disappointing—literally tiny... 😕

We celebrated my husband's birthday here and everything was perfect. Highly recommended and we'll be back.

We were absolutely delighted with everything we ate. The sashimi, tournedos, chateaubriand, curry, and desserts were all absolutely delicious. It was the best restaurant.we went to in De Koog. The food was really good. The Texel lamb was prepared very adequately and was delicious. That would be my number one suggestion. The shrimp starter was also very fancy. The pasta was good. Atmosphere was very calming and pretty. We sat for hours. The staff were very professional and helpful. The menu was good. The only downside was that it took a long wait for the food to be ready, but it was understandable given how crowded the place was.

We were disappointed. We had reserved for 6 people at 7:30, but were informed that we had reserved for 8:00 (the confirmation email clearly stated 19:30). We finally got a table at 8:30, only to start eating at 9:30. People who arrived after us received their food earlier. We spoke to the manager about this, who had one of his staff members sort it out. We received compensation, but a simple apology stating "we made a mistake" would have been sufficient. It was not the kitchen's fault; the food was excellent. We also requested no nuts due to an allergy, yet there were nuts in the salad.

Delicious food and amazing staff. We arrived a few minutes before 9 and this place was the only one willing to serve us. I'm glad about it because we had a really good meal.

Very disappointing and bad experience! A week ago, we dutifully reserved a table for Friday, May 15th at 6:30 PM. Upon arrival, the waiter blithely told us that there were no tables available inside and that we would just have to sit outside, right in the cold and rain! It is incomprehensible and totally unprofessional how reservations are handled. Why reserve a table in the first place if no spot has been arranged inside? This demonstrates poor organization and little respect for guests. A real huge letdown and absolutely not hospitable.

Absolutely ridiculous. We had made a reservation for 9 people; apparently, the owner called us an hour beforehand from a number unknown to us. We had noted in the comments that we wanted to sit outside if the weather was nice, but it was cold and raining. We arrived and asked to sit inside, and the gentleman casually said, "I'm full, no room." So there you are, standing there with 4 children and some older people, and with a group of 9, you can't just quickly find another restaurant. This gentleman still has a lot to learn and perhaps needs to take a customer service course, as well as a course in solution-oriented thinking.

We had ordered mushroom pasta and lamb shank. After 4 bites of pasta, we left it because it wasn't tasty. The "sauce" was watery and tasteless. The fries we received with the lamb were lukewarm. When we received new fries, it looked as if the salt shaker had been emptied over them; inedible. The lamb shank, meat-wise, was fine, but the gravy was tasteless pure melted butter. The plate of pasta was taken back after we had eaten 2 bites of it. Only to be told at the checkout that it had simply been charged because we had eaten some of it. Well, you give it a try anyway because it will probably be okay, right? But it was really bad. The poor waitress had to inform us that nothing was being compensated. The owner didn't even come to speak to us personally. Very peculiar. Having worked in the hospitality industry for years myself, this is not service or the way to handle a legitimate complaint. Bad business. Unfortunately, we will not be coming back here. The atmosphere is great and the music is nice. It is not the service's fault; they are just the messengers.

This was also my first time at the tavern in De Koog, and as is often the case, I found it thanks to the good Google reviews. The welcome was immediately very friendly, and I felt right at home. The staff is attentive and creates a pleasant atmosphere. The restaurant itself is also really cool, very inviting, and cozy. The menu is interesting and offers a good selection. I opted for a meat dish with fries and also had a dessert. Everything tasted absolutely fantastic, the meat was very well prepared, and overall it was a very enjoyable meal. My only minor complaint is the portion size in relation to the price. The portions are rather small; I would have liked a bit more. Nevertheless, I have to say it's a very good restaurant, and I would definitely come back. 👍

We ate here twice during the week we were on Texel. We called 15 minutes in advance to see if there was still a table available around 6:00 PM. And there was. Friendly staff, pleasant atmosphere, and delicious food. Oysters, Texel lamb, Texel lamb ham with burrata. Unfortunately, I didn't take photos of the dishes my dining companion had, including carpaccio and Iberico pork. If we are ever on Texel again, we will definitely come back.

Whenever I spend a few days on Texel, I always visit De Taveerne at least once. This time, the experience was a bit mixed. It was nice that they still had a spot for me at the last minute. The table was good, I was already familiar with the menu (when is a new one opening?), and I would like to see more vegetarian dishes. Also, it took a while for the main course to arrive. On the other hand, the service is very friendly and I always feel welcome.

The food was excellent, the location very nice, but unfortunately, they no longer accept American Express cards, even though it's listed as a payment method on their website and outside the restaurant. The way they handled the situation wasn't very pleasant.

We particularly enjoyed the spinach salad with feta cheese and pickled red onions, and especially the Iberico pork cheeks. They were perfectly cooked, very tender, and served with a delicious sauce. The tagliatelle with wild mushrooms was a bit disappointing, and the smoked duck breast appetizer was overpriced at €16.50. Overall, it was a tasty meal. The ambiance and service were fine.

Very tasty food! Neat and very cozy location. The spareribs and carpaccio are absolutely amazing here; I haven't eaten such delicious ones anywhere else. We come here almost every day when we go on vacation to Texel. Mr. Richard is a true host (just like his colleagues, by the way).

For the past six years, I've been coming to Texel around early March and make sure I eat at De Taveerne at least once a year. I always have the oysters and the lamb with my main course. Every year it's a real treat, and the quality is consistently good. Friendly staff and a lovely atmosphere. Keep up the good work, and see you next year.

The evening at the taverna was a highlight of our vacation. Even from afar, you could see the inviting atmosphere and the crackling fires in the fireplaces. Inside, it was just as inviting. A restaurant couldn't be more cozy and welcoming. The service was attentive and they immediately switched to German when they realized where we were from. The food was fantastic! For starters, we had the lamb ham with burrata, and for main courses, the picanha and the filet. Everything was cooked to perfection. 👌 This is how hospitality should be!

My wife and I dined here. We both had the carpaccio as a starter: beautifully thinly sliced ​​and delicious, although for me there was a bit too much dressing, which underscored the meat's full potential. I pointed this out immediately; they said it was a bad cut of meat, which I doubt. With real picanha, toughness usually depends on the cut, doneness, or resting time. I mentioned this immediately and switched to the pork tenderloin satay. The flavor and sauce were fine, but the pork tenderloin was cut into fairly thick pieces, which quickly leads to dryness with this tender meat. Unfortunately, that was also the case here. It was also very warm on the first floor, which made it uncomfortable. Considering the price, I expected more. Plus: the staff is very friendly and fast.

The bottle of Malbec that came with it was rather mediocre, but €37.50 isn't exactly expensive. So, excellent value for money! We're going back again tomorrow...

You can certainly eat well in Texel, but the Taveerne is a hidden gem.

We had a wonderful meal, delicious spareribs and leg of lamb. We mentioned that we wanted to share a starter, and they kindly accommodated us with extra plates. The desserts, crème brûlée and Pastel de Nata, were also delicious. The service was quick and courteous.

Last night I had dinner with seven people to celebrate my birthday, and I felt so special! The table was decorated, with balloons, a birthday card, a glass of bubbly, and someone sang for me! I felt truly special ❤️ and...we all had a wonderful meal and drinks (but that's perfectly normal at the Taveerne).

I went to texel island and has heard alot about the texel lamb. I was interested in trying lamb cooked in the Dutch style and it topped the expectation. Booked the restaurant via Google and enjoyed the food. Side dish order isn't necessary as the portion is good.

Hello, we had reserved a table for 7:00 p.m., received a friendly welcome, and were given a nice table by the window. Ordering was quite quick, but unfortunately, it took 1.5 hours to get our food. We think that's too long. When we politely asked, the waitress reacted very rudely, saying she was just doing her job and not in the kitchen. We think this could have been handled differently. The food was okay, but we certainly won't be coming back.

Unfortunately, the evening that started fantastically, had a very disappointing ending! We arrived at the reserved time and had been offered a drink before a table was free near the heaters outside. After three minutes, there was already a table free for us. Starters were super delicious, so was the wine. Also, my husbands salad was great. I had the Curry with chicken. The Curry itself was amazing. But as you can see in the pictures, the chicken was almost completely RAW and uncooked. Red-pinkish meat. I could not eat that. After dinner, I claimed that to the waiter. All he did was putting a knife in it and having a look in his face of “you overreact”. He did not even come back with the bill but sent a colleague along. We then claimed it again and he also did not care. They did not even remove the 5€ (!) extra fee for the chicken. Sadly, the service was extremely unsatisfying.

My companion and I only ordered gambas and paella, but we had to wait over two hours for the paella to arrive. What's worse, a table that arrived after us had already finished their meal and left before we even got our food. I can't help but wonder if we received such service because we were the only Asians in the restaurant. Even after waiting for such an incredibly long time, the paella was so tasteless that it almost made me sick. As you can see from the picture (if provided), I couldn't even touch the rice; I just ate the seafood on top and left. We paid 102 euros for just one dinner during our vacation. I truly question whether this was a justifiable price for such a disappointing experience. It was completely unacceptable.

I'm generally very apprehensive about ordering spare ribs. You have your own local store in your town/city that no other can compete with. But the spare ribs from De Taveerne are truly delicious! I'm normally a fan of spicy food. But these are simply delicious. You pick up a bone and the meat stays there—what do you mean, cooked?! Tender, delicious. It was truly fantastic!

Unfortunately, only 1 point for the food. My beer had a foot bath, and it dripped all over my dress. I ordered the curry with chicken. In the sauce, I could find two dark pieces, maybe mushrooms, and a few green pieces, maybe spinach. Otherwise, the sauce was thin, albeit tasty, with no other recognizable ingredients. The meat, which cost €5 on top, was okay except for a few bones, but over €23 for the dish, no, that didn't satisfy me.

What was still there was certainly tasty, but that is to be expected for the price. The bill was on the high side. In short, NOT TOP.

The staff is quick yet very friendly and attentive. They also accommodate individual requests regarding the food, and in my case, they were fully fulfilled 👍 Reservations are definitely required, but no problem using Google Maps.

Yesterday we had a delicious meal at the Taveerne, a cozy restaurant where dogs are also welcome! The service is nice and enthusiastic. Food and wine were fantastic! A small point of attention is the cheesecake. This turned out to be “disassembled” and that was not indicated on the menu. All in all we had a great evening and would definitely come back here!
