De Waterman in Werkendam

For a place that pretends to offer a lot of culinary value, the service was exceptionally poor. We repeatedly mentioned our plant-based diet, but were ignored, and when we suggested the (overpriced) flammkuchen without cheese, they simply added crème fraîche. No apology was offered, only a grumpy request to "just make a new one." By then, we were feeling aggrieved by the staff's attitude and didn't want to delay the group we were dining with. So, we scraped it off the flammkuchen as best we could to avoid stomach cramps (as we're lactose intolerant). Incidentally, the place was completely empty except for our group, so the lack of service wasn't due to the crowds.

Hello. Yesterday we had brunch at The Touch with a group of 41 people. I can only say that everything was perfectly organized and it was delicious. Very friendly staff. Truly fantastic, keep up the good work. Great. Regards, Jaap Vink d'Altenaer

We had to wait a long time for lunch. We were among the first on the terrace; tables behind us received theirs much sooner. After asking if they'd forgotten us, our lunch arrived within 5 minutes. One small brown bread sandwich with delicious salmon. They'd forgotten to put the cream cheese on the sandwich. €16 for one meager sandwich is way too expensive.

Nice chocolate/strawberry pie (with a bit of bitter after taste) and coffee, good start for a weekend hike!

I've been here regularly, and I noticed the name and menu have changed. It's a bit of a shame they used to have more delicious menus and treats for us, but what we had tasted good. The salmon has also been changed; I used to prefer it a bit more; it was presented slightly differently, which I found to be a bit better. The food is delicious, beautifully presented, and the portions are generous. A lovely terrace. Friendly staff. You can sit inside or outside. The interior is also nicely decorated. Plenty of space. There's also ample parking. It's neat and clean. Quiet location. It's right by the harbor. (It was very quiet there, though; I might have preferred some soft music in the background.) They've changed that as well, and the atmosphere has become more inviting.

Deliciously fresh pastries. Almost straight from the oven. Friendly service.

The Touch Burger is very tasty, clear recommendation, very good service, great restaurant, nice view outside.

Tonight we were invited to eat here with 22 people in buffet style.. The food was lukewarm and everything was served in a small corner of the room, they didn't tell us what it was and the carpaccio came cold from the freezer, there were 2 baguettes for 22 people and the replenishment came after the meal and they had been in the oven for far too long. The steak tips were of good quality but lukewarm. The room where we were sitting did not have air conditioning and no window could be opened. After the buffet we wanted to go back to the terrace but this was not the intention, according to the owner due to reservations but everything was not set or reserved. All in all a ballet.

Half a meter of chicken satay not properly cooked (raw) Staff starts smoking next to our table on the terrace, but as non-smokers this is not pleasant.

A new formula for delicious food on the edge of the Biesbosch... large terrace... beautiful new restaurant! The new menu and chef are doing a fantastic job!

Great help from Mathijs, what a nice, enthusiastic employee, a natural talent, hospitable, welcomes the guests in a super friendly and attentive way.

The food was superb. Only the controls did not look neat. Wrinkled and stained. We got a starter and were still working on the sandwich. Coffee was served while the plates had not yet been collected. Staff walked through the restaurant with a pack of cigarettes in their hands. I really didn't feel welcome. Maybe also because we didn't order much.

The sole was great, you can eat at your leisure and if you ask for a glass of tap water you get it and they don't sell you a spa or sourcy for 3.50.€ The food is great, the rosé was delicious We thought the total price was excellent in relation to the quality. The staff was relaxed, friendly and attentive to the two Rhodesian Ridgebacks. Dogs that were allowed inside (* footnote; the dogs are on a leash and sleep next to the table) Get a bowl of water. We will eat there again when I am in the area. KEEP IT UP😍😍😍😍😍

We as true Werkendammers were particularly surprised last Saturday 01/03/2025 by the menu choice of the owner Johan. A mix plate starter and main course. (please order in advance). Highly recommended and definitely worth repeating. Every snack and dish has its own taste and there is a choice for everyone they want. Extremely excellent, thank you Johan and his team for giving our day a memorable ending

Just took a turn and followed the road looking for a restaurant for lunch. That's how we ended up here. Sufficient parking space and also a choice of tables. Great food, took a bit long, but we had time. The only downside....the coffee. Strange, but not tasty.

Had lunch at this attractive restaurant on a beautiful Wednesday afternoon. We received a very hospitable welcome and we were able to take a seat straight away. The food arrived very quickly and was of high quality. In summary, a good restaurant that is definitely worth it!

Atmospheric restaurant with an excellent menu. Not too big and not too small. Great meal. The lunch board is original but a bit on the small side if you are hungry. The salmon sandwich, on the other hand, is large enough

Very nice and stylish restaurant. From the outside you think of a canteen, but as soon as you enter the restaurant or the beautiful terrace, you are pleasantly surprised. I can't comment on the food, I only had a burger for lunch. But this one was great. The service was friendly with an arrogant touch. I'll be back!

On a Sunday afternoon after a lovely walk in the nearby Biesbosch, we were hungry for a tasty, if not culinary, meal! The restaurant looks cozy and attractive and we quickly knew what we wanted to eat. But then the long wait began. It took a very long time before we received our lunch, at least 45 minutes for our first course and another 45 minutes for our second course... If it is very busy then I can understand that, but in that respect it was not too bad. In the meantime, our first drinks were finished and it took a while before we could order another drink. I had ordered the 2-course lunch surprise menu and perhaps the chef still had to think about what exactly the surprise would be. The food was sometimes very good - such as the pre-prepared tuna and fried pieces of sole - and sometimes it was quite disappointing. And if you are not asked at checkout if you liked it, then you already know that they saw that we were not very satisfied.

Great beautiful atmospheric restaurant. Delicious food. Very hospitable staff, except the younger waitress who took our orders was not hospitable and clearly did not feel like it. However, this does not stop us from recommending this restaurant. A top location. Highly recommended.

During a nice bike ride, we had a cappucino on an attractive terrace at Tims Touch. I was surprised at the high price of the cappucino. I thought for a moment that we were sitting on a terrace in Amsterdam, but the meager cookie that was served did not make it any more special.

Latte macchiato way overpriced by €4.50. As far as I'm concerned, the atmosphere falls into the category "we try to make it fancy/hip with the same price tag" but the finishing touches are lacking. Absolutely beautiful view and top location of course

A real improvement after the renovation. Perhaps an air conditioner could be installed or turned on in warm weather. Service neat and customer friendly. We come here every year on our way to the campsite and will definitely return next year.

Nice place for lunch. Well taken care of. Only a dessert of 3 Leonidas chocolates for that price. That's really not possible 😡 and that costs you a star.

Excellent place to have lunch. Ample parking, lovely terrace and cozy tables inside. Tastefully decorated. Great variety on the menu; meats, fish and vegan 🌱 options. Attentive staff. Extensive wine and liquor list.

The restaurant has been renovated and has become very attractive. The surprise menu was really delicious. One of the guests did not like one of the dishes, but was given a very nice alternative by the chef on his own initiative. Hostess Mies is super friendly and knows what she is talking about. An absolute strong improvement since the previous concept!

Top location for a coffee with apple pie as a stop before/after the Biesbosch, staff always friendly, after the renovation the Dutch hits were unfortunately exchanged for house music!

Beautiful ambiance, sourdough sandwich with hot chicken and an Italian bun with steak tips, both delicious. I thought the cappuccino was a bit strong, but I enjoyed it better. Friendly staff.

Nice restaurant where you can enjoy a delicious meal. It's a little more expensive than you might expect but the food is excellent. The service is a bit slow and occasionally forgets something. The lighting of the tables could also be improved: you are now almost in the dark and that does not benefit the food experience. Could be better.

Beautiful location and beautifully renovated, now with a new chef that we came especially for. Tim really puts very tasty dishes on the table and can really work magic with meat and fish. Food was really delicious, great atmosphere, highly recommended. We will be back soon.

You enter a wonderfully warm and cozy environment, how beautiful it turned out! We were warmly welcomed and served throughout the evening. The menu contains enough choice to suit everyone's taste. The dishes are beautifully presented and the flavors are exquisite, just like the accompanying wines. You can tell by everything that they know how to do it. Definitely recommended, we will definitely come back more often! Thanks again for the nice evening.

*Found hair in the food * Had to wait a long time (1 hour and 15 minutes) * Food was disappointing. Fish and Chips consisted of a few pieces of fish. Perhaps we had an off day or suffered from staff shortages, but things were clearly not going well.

Have had lunch at the Waterman a few times. The food is always excellent. The service is also always friendly. In terms of atmosphere, something may change in the restaurant. It feels a bit cold/old fashioned.

Duurde erg lang voordat we werden geholpen,hoewel restaurant niet druk op dat moment. Zeer bescheiden porties,sla niet fris. Bij ingang staat dat als je met een groep komt je als groep moet afrekenen,maar dit geld ook als je met 3 personen aan een tafel zit, dus dwz dat er per tafel moet worden afgerekend ! Dit gaf bij afrekening problemen ,jongedame gaf vrij onvriendelijk aan dat we dan maar een tikkie moesten sturen! Helaas voor ons geen herhaling.

Restaurant De Waterman was echt geweldig! Het eten was super lekker en zag er heel mooi uit op het bord. De mensen die er werken waren heel aardig en letten goed op je. De sfeer was gezellig en warm. Ik vond het echt een topervaring en ik raad het zeker aan als je lekker en speciaal wil eten!

Het begrip 'cuilinair" in de naamsaanduiding van dit bedrijf hebben we vanmiddag niet kunnen ervaren. Het stoofvleesgerecht bestaat, net zoals Robert V 3 maanden geleden ook heeft ervaren, uit ca.3 stukjes stoofvlees met een beetje jus, een beetje salade en afgerond met een bord vol aan frieten, zonder mayo. Dat ook wij dit hebben moeten ervaren toont wel dat het belang van de consument hier niet zwaar weegt.

Hele leuke locatie binnen en buiten. Op het terras zicht op de haven. Vriendelijke bediening. Eten was uitstekend. Minpuntje: het toilet zag er niet fris uit met closetpapier op de vloer zonder extra rol closetpapier. Tip: loop regelmatig de toiletten even na .

Erg onvriendelijk jonge dame in de bediening. Bij de vraag of ze misschien suiker had voor in de koffie, wees ze naar een andere tafel en zei:" daar staat het!" Het terras waarop we zaten, was wel gezellig ingericht.

We waren toevallig in de buurt met onze studie groep en wilde wat lunchen. Dat is hier zeker goed gelukt. Luxe uitstraling en zeer goed eten!

Perfect place for lunch in mid town near marina, served a delicious/ fresh salad , real homemade “ kroket “ typical Dutch dish , price really affordable and the lady who serve us also very friendly and show a great hospitality

Un lugar agradable para tomar una cerveza y comer un snack.

Jammer dat je alleen binnen kunt betalen. Verder alles prima. Wij namen alleen koffie met appelgebak.

Jammer dat er net 40 motorrijders zonder reservering aan kwamen schuiven. Daar kun je je niet op voorbereiden qua personeel. Deden erg hun best dit niet teveel te laten blijken.

Heerlijk gegeten. Prachtig terras.

Vandaag weer sinds lange tijd hier wezen lunchen, normaal blijf ik graag bij oud en vertrouwd. Deze keer wat nieuws genomen en daar behoorlijk spijt van. De stoverij, dit zou een huisgemaakte stoofvlees moeten zijn met friet en salade. Misschien was het wel huisgemaakt, maar de portie stoofvlees was zo armzalig klein dat het eigenlijk te schandalig was om te serveren. Drie kleine stukjes vlees 😭en dat voor het best behoorlijk hoge bedrag van €14,50. Volgende keer als die er gaat komen toch maar weer een saté.

Heerlijk met mijn vrouw daar gegeten. Een aanrader.

Mooie locatie met een mooi terras. Met fiets vrienden wat gedronken. Op het terras stond aangegeven dat er als groep afgerekend moest worden. Aan de bediening gevraagd wat de koffie, cappuccino kost, stond niet op de aanwezige drankenkaart. De bediening wist het niet. Verwacht je toch wel dat die terugkomt om het te vertellen. Helaas niets meer van gehoord.

Just eaten the best apple pie ever. Four very happy cyclists. May the rest of the Maas deliver food and drink as good as this. Oh and excellent service by the way!

Fijne plek om ff rustig op het mooie terras te zitten. Koffie met kersenvlaai was heerlijk. Aardige bediening.

Was gesloten zonder bericht, op een van de mooiste dagen van de week en op een zaterdag? Toch zonde. Nette reactie van de eigenaar, gesloten vanwege personeelstekort, had ik zelf niet bedacht zag er meerdere mensen lopen namelijk. Werk in de zorg dus volledig bekend met het personeelstekort, dus dan is het begrijpelijk dat je soms niet kunt openen.. Wie weet tot gauw voor de herkansing dan maar!

Prima locatie voor een lekkere Lunch, na een bezoek aan de Biesbosch. Een heerlijk Sateh gegeten en de wijn was zeker de moeite waard.

Fijn terras, prettige bediening. Vegan koffie was echter niet mogelijk :-( dus maar naar thee uitgeweken en de lunch maar elders genuttigd.
