Beautiful location, great location. Everything's perfect.

What a special experience. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Sometimes you go somewhere where absolutely everything has been thought of. Where food, drinks, and service come together in a kind of total experience that stays with you for a long time. We started with two croquettes with bread. The mayonnaise was delicious. Seriously. Kudos to whoever opened the jar. Unfortunately, that was where the culinary highlight ended. The croquettes themselves were mainly a nice reminder that you have an air fryer at home too. After that, we felt like having a cocktail. A Long Island Iced Tea seemed like a good idea. Unfortunately, we were told there wasn't time to make one. Understandable, of course. A Long Island isn't just a drink, but a multi-year infrastructure project. A mojito, on the other hand, was possible. Apparently, there is a mysterious dividing line somewhere behind the bar where stomping mint, slicing limes, and building a cocktail takes considerably less time than just dumping some liquor into a glass. But anyway, we aren't mixologists. We are just simple people who are thirsty. Fortunately, the wait staff made it clear afterwards where all that precious time went. You see, the table next to us was being cleaned. And by “cleaned,” I mean: made even wetter. An impressive technique where dirt is apparently not removed, but simply given swimming lessons. The absolute highlight came when the menu was brought. You would expect someone to just hand over a menu like that. Maybe with a smile. Maybe even with a revolutionary word like “please.” But no. The menu was expertly tossed onto the soaking wet table, as if the waiter were auditioning for the Dutch Discus Throwing Championship and we happened to be sitting in the landing zone. In hindsight, I also understand why there wasn't time for that Long Island Iced Tea. With all that watering tables and launching menus, you naturally have to set priorities. In short: the mayonnaise was tasty. And that is perhaps the best compliment I can give about this experience. The rest was enough to make you cry — although fortunately we didn't have to wipe our own tears off the table. It was already soaking wet anyway.

Great location, but very unfriendly staff and poor service.

Amazing and delicious Food ,the best truffle pasta in Venlo. Very kind staff. Lynn which served me few times is one of the best, together with Eva , they are young but always smiling and positive. I like to come to De Werf for my coffee , lunch and dinners.

Unfortunately, a very disappointing experience. Upon arrival, we were politely escorted to a table, but after that, we were completely forgotten. Although the restaurant was very quiet and there were only a few other guests present, we waited for over 25 minutes without anyone coming to take our order. We tried several times to get the staff's attention by signaling and making eye contact, but there was no response. Eventually, we got up and left without having lunch. It is a shame, because a good first impression was completely ruined by this. You would expect a little attention for the guests, especially in a quiet restaurant.

Nice, relaxed atmosphere, friendly service, and delicious food. It seems there has just been a change of management. I can't judge how it was before, but as I experience it now, it is perfectly fine. Good value for money in a time when everything is just getting more expensive. Highly recommended as far as I'm concerned 👍🏼.

Amazing Food , one of the best coffee in Venlo. Very kind staff. Eva which served me few times is one of the best. She Makes feel customers like home. Happy to be a customer of De Werf.

Never been, but worth repeating

The place is pleasant, thankfully... The value for money is disappointing. I chose truffle pasta; the portion was far from generous, and the truffle flavor was subtle. My partner had a hamburger... which was okay. We ordered a bottle of Pinot Noir, but unfortunately, we didn't realize it was Romanian. It cost us €28, while the actual value was only €5.95. We know restaurants take a significant markup on drinks, but this is excessive. In short, an experience we certainly won't repeat.

Extremely expensive for the quality

We went for lunch at De Werf for a special occasion by reservation; knowing that there is a new owner, that is genuinely an improvement. With a view of Venlo's inner harbor, we had a more than fine table in the shade. The service was extremely friendly and the level of service is excellent. Just like the quality of the served appetizer, asparagus soup, and main course. The price-quality ratio is balanced and the portions do not feel like they are being measured out. In short, a recommended location for a bite to eat, a drink, or both...

A lovely spot for lunch! With the warm summer weather, the terrace is highly recommended. There is a nice cooling breeze, making it a delightful place to spend time. The menu offers tasty drinks; I chose a homemade lemonade and a fried egg. Everything tasted very good and the portion was exactly what I was in the mood for. The service was prompt and my order was on the table quickly, so I didn't have to wait long. Definitely a nice place I would love to return to!

We only had drinks, but the food served at the tables was very good. I can't comment on the taste, but it was probably very good since everyone finished their plates 😄🥰

Yesterday, the service consisted of three young people who clearly didn't want to work. There were only six to eight other guests besides us, so it was quite small. Our table and several neighboring tables were very dirty – mainly with food scraps. At times, three of the staff stood around in the conservatory, staring off into space instead of cleaning tables or clearing glasses and bottles from empty tables. The glasses weren't clean either, so we had to drink from bottles. While one could overlook certain things when the restaurant is busy, it's unacceptable when the staff are busy chatting amongst themselves and there are hardly any customers around. Service isn't just about silently placing drinks on the table; it's about interacting with the guest – eye contact, a smile, checking in to see if you'd like another drink. Unfortunately, none of that was present. Consequently, no tip. We probably won't be back.

Had lunch with 5 people. Previous experience: price-quality was fine! This time, the quality was really a whole lot worse! I doubt we will come back!

Dear Management, your restaurant looks great, but the service is simply awful. We waited over 30 minutes only to be told the kitchen was closing. Please post this information on your website and on Google so other guests don't have to wait so long. I will never visit this restaurant again.

Koert, thanks, I just ran into you in Venlo and I wish you all the best. The food is still good at De Werf. The service really leaves a lot to be desired; no ability to truly empathize with the customer who ultimately determines their salary. To that, I say go do what your passion and talent truly lie in and don't ruin the customer experience. Koert, all the best to you; you truly deserve it. Highly recommended for chilling in the sun in the afternoon.

The location by the river/water is well situated and somewhat away from the hustle and bustle. It's especially lovely to sit there and watch the sunset. We had the surprise menu (3 or 4 courses) and were pleasantly surprised. The individual courses were beautifully presented, and the texture and taste were fantastic! The service was very courteous and attentive. We'd gladly return. I can highly recommend "De Werf" 😊👍🏻

Delicious food, excellent service.

We wanted to have lunch here today at 1:45 PM with two people. Drinks arrived quite quickly the first time. We ordered a steak and a hot chicken sandwich. We had to wait an hour and a half for our food. The staff didn't seem surprised that we had to wait so long. The chicken sandwich had been ready for a while and was completely cold, not very tasty anymore. For 25 euros, I also thought it was a very small steak, which is a shame. I'd rather eat at the restaurant next door.

Friendly service, nice chic ambience, and the food was really good

We ate there last night. The atmosphere was great. The food was very expensive for what was served. I ordered a steak, medium rare, but it was well done. Also, very small for the price. The wheat beer was very tasty. My wife had chicken satay, made with chicken thigh. For that price, it should have been made with chicken breast. Not something I'll be returning for.

Nice restaurant with a great view

On a quiet Sunday, there were five service staff members walking around, but you still had to ask for the menu three times. The steak was unfortunately inedible, and the fries were so greasy that you lost your appetite.

Had a staff lunch at De Werf. Everyone was the same. Sandwich with croquette and sandwich with egg salad. Small soup. Everything was perfectly taken care of and organized!

We had a wonderful meal. The service was impeccably attentive and genuinely friendly. The food was very well-prepared and delicious. Highly recommended in our own city.

Went for lunch today, had to wait 45 minutes for the food because they lost the order, finally got the food, the staff threw a beer over the table, everything was wet. Once and never again.

We were there last week for a three-course meal. We sat outside. The service was wonderful, very attentive. The food was incredibly delicious, and with that view. We have no complaints whatsoever.

The location right on the water is really great, but they obviously know that. The service wasn't particularly great, even though it wasn't busy on a Monday night.

Op het terras van de Werf aan de Maasboulevard in Venlo. Een niet heel uitgebreide kaart, maar wat erop staat is goed wij namen de Eendenborst en die was heerlijk. Mooie setting langs het water en vriendelijk personeel.

Great, delicious coffee and beautiful view

Prachtig terras aan de Maas. Bediening zeer vriendelijk, attent en behulpzaam. Aperol Spritz uit automaat, geen bubbels en vlak. Eten viel enorm tegen. Bruschetta tomaat geen tomaat gezien en onsmakelijk. Sate zonder smaak en slechts een stokje. Plateau zeevruchten met droge oesters en overgare kreeft vis en gamba's. De eend en aspergesoep waren goed. Teleurstellend, zoveel meer verwacht!!

The location is wonderful, but you also pay for it 🙈 service is downright bad. When I said something about the fact that I had already been waiting for 20 minutes, she also said that that was exaggerated....I had to wait another 15 minutes before paying... It wasn't even busy. Finally I went to pay inside. No, I won't go there again.

Good food in a beautiful location, that's how it can be described here. Recently enjoyed a four-course menu. The food is well prepared and very tasty. You get a nice variety of food on your plate. The staff is friendly and alert, they are at your table on time and you don't have to wait long for your food/drinks. Any adjustments will be taken into account. Highly recommended!

I can recommend the restaurant, unfortunately it's still too cold to enjoy the water and the area outside. But I was very happy with the food and the service was also very good like almost everywhere in the Netherlands 😊😉 As soon as the weather is better again I will come back.

Ate here following a Social Deal. The first four courses were very tasty, but unfortunately the dessert was disappointing. At the end we ordered a coffee, which was served with a chocolate. A friend of mine, who is pregnant, took a bite and discovered that the chocolate was completely moldy on the inside! When we raised this, we did not receive the understanding response we had hoped for. Very unfortunate. We didn't even know that chocolates could mold...yuck!

Beautiful location. Beautiful view. Unfortunately the food is disappointing. Nice presentation of food. The fish seemed cooked and was very limp, probably fried at a very low temperature. The Ribeye was very chewy and very thin. The vegetables that came with it were very hard and raw and almost inedible. Staff was very busy with themselves because there were almost no customers, but they stayed seated and said we could just sit. They also sat outside together for a while, while customers were inside.

We weren’t in a good place there when their kitchen had just closed... we waited an hour, we initially asked for a menu but they didn’t give it to us, saying: we’ll give it to us as soon as the kitchen opens... an hour later they didn’t even come up, after another 20 minutes we called them ourselves to they gave the menu. We waited another 30 minutes for food and despite the prices being higher than usual, the food was not tasty. The presentation of the food is beautiful but the taste doesn't pay for itself. I asked for tea with mint, they gave me boiling water with mint branches….

Ordered chef's menu. Service was fine, friendly and fast. We didn't like the atmosphere very much. Food was fine, nothing special but just okay. Wines were tasty, prosecco on the other hand was not good.

Service terribly aloof and conceited. Sorry for definitely not welcome next time. Disgusting. Customer is king???

On our walk through Venlo we passed this wonderful restaurant. We actually just wanted to have a cup of coffee, but when we entered we realized that we would probably be staying a little longer. Because lobsters and auszern laughed at us. We were warmly welcomed and shown to our table, given advice and looked after. Very comfortably furnished, everything clean. The food was super fresh and incredibly tasty. We will definitely recommend this restaurant and look forward to seeing you again. Thanks for the great time🙋🏻

A very cozy atmosphere and very friendly and helpful staff.

Restaurant opens at 12 o'clock, my husband and I arrive at a quarter to 12, there was already a couple sitting at a table, so my husband and I want to take a seat... we are simply sent away because the restaurant only opens at 12 o'clock says the waitress... that's how you really win customers, DEFINITELY NOT!!! At the very least we could have started with a cup of coffee... we will definitely never come back here again!

We were not immediately helped in a friendly manner. Table not clean, there were still crumbs on it. Order wrong, requested without cookie due to celiac disease. Still a cookie

This restaurant has a very nice location, right on the water, where the boats moor. The service is nice and smooth. We first sat on the terrace, where it became chilly because of the wind. Asked if we could sit inside even though we had already ordered something, this was no problem! It also looks neat inside, good atmosphere! The food is very tasty and quite affordable. The sandwich was very tasty! Compared to many others where we have eaten toasted sandwiches. Highly recommended if you are in Venlo.

comic shop, We sit down and want to order something to eat and we're told the kitchen closes at 5 p.m.! even though it's 4:15 p.m.? I specifically asked again whether we weren't getting anything to eat and was explicitly answered with a no. Weird load.

Das Restaurant hat eine sehr schöne Lage direkt am Wasser mit einer überdachten Terrasse. Dort haben wir auch bei bestem Wetter gegessen. Der Service war freundlich und aufmerksam. Die Speisen waren insgesamt alle sehr gut abgeschmeckt, Gewürze haben wir nicht gebraucht. Gegessen haben wir in der Vorspeise Jakobsmuschel und das Brot mit Dips. Im Hauptgang gab es Salat mit Hühnchen sowie Fisch. Alles lecker, es gab nichts zu beanstanden. Insgesamt haben wir uns sehr wohl gefühlt.

The prices for the food were too high for me personally. That's why there were only 2-3 beers. The location is of course excellent, right on the water, dead arm.

As long-time guests, this is the last time we will spend money on dinner here. So far we have always received good and courteous service. The service was perfect even when it was busy. Unfortunately everything is different now. After a long wait, the Chateau Briand we ordered was slammed onto the table without comment. No recommendations were made. Unfortunately, there is one less restaurant business for more demanding guests.... Swiss customers are now looking for something different to eat out.

Great restaurant in Venlo on the Maas.

Geweldig restaurant gelegen op een schitterende plek. Uitstekende menukaart met heerlijk smakende gerechten. Top gastvrouwen. Zeer zeker voor herhaling vatbaar. Bedankt team "De Werf".

No response from waitress for bad, rotten food. Do not order the shrimp croquttes they were left in the sun. Very slow service, make sure you have plenty of time. How do they rate 4.1 avg? Must be really bad math. Look at the plethora of bad reviews.

!!! Absolutely not recommended as far as food is concerned!!! The location is nice if you want to have a drink right on the Maas in Venlo. To clarify: We ordered shrimp croquettes. When we ate it, we felt really sick and had to spit it all out because the product was slightly spoiled and inedible. We reported this to the service staff and had the food returned. However, we had to pay the full price of EUR 16.50 without comment, and no one apologized. We definitely won't go there again.

Helaas niet wat we er van verwacht hadden. De uiensoep was echt niet speciaal en de kreeftensoep had een nasmaak. Hoofdgerecht het is qua prijs/kwaliteit niet in verhouding qua sfeer vonden wij het ook niet gezellig maar dat is persoonlijk. Personeel zo was wel vriendelijk. Het eten was niet slecht maar een kleine voldoende

After a shopping tour through Venlo we stopped here. De Werf is located above the Maas. Here you have a great view over the river. The food was tasty and fair in price. The ladies in service were friendly. The sanitary facilities are clean and tidy

Unsere Erfahrung war eher bescheiden. Pommes und Cheeseburger waren ok. Salat mit Hähnchen würde ich nicht weiterempfehlen. Der komplette Salat war mit Mayo übertüncht und irgendwas darin schimpfte sich Ei, schmeckte aber grässlich. War das teuerste Restaurant, das wir während unseres Aufenthalts in Venlo besucht haben. Gleichzeitig war es auch das enttäuschendste. Preis geht für die schöne Lage am Wasser noch knapp in Ordnung. Der Lippenstift der Vorgängerin am Glas und die nicht sehr motivierte Servicekraft haben aber natürlich auch nicht gerade zu einem positiven Restauranterlebnis beigetragen. Schade, das geht besser.

Beautiful location at the harbor of Venlo. Took the 3 course menu with a group of 10. Food was tasty and well presented. The fish (sea bass) was a bit dry but the starter (kingfish) was delicious

I had the best hamburger ever here.

Exceptionally nice weather today. That's why we got a table by the water. We had to wait until the empty crockery was taken away. The table was not cleaned even though there were enough staff in my opinion. First ordered drinks and the menu. It took a long time before we could order food and again before it was served. Previously, the cutlery was placed on the table in bags. The satay we got was good; add the bean sprouts and atjar fresh and nice and crispy. The fries a lot but too hard. The parasols and bar stools emphasized a Mediterranean atmosphere at the harbour. Due to substandard and unfriendly service, no tip was given, contrary to our custom.

The mojito was absolutely amazing and the food was good. It's very beautiful there. The only drawback is that you had to wait so long between courses.

Essen war qualitativ gut. Preis angemessen. Im großen und Ganzen war ich zufrieden. Das Ambiente war sehr schön und wir haben uns sehr wohl gefühlt.

Op zich wel goed maar geen plek om nog een keer terug te komen. Flinke nasmaak door het feit dat de tafels buiten bij het water gereserveerd waren terwijl de tafels erg lang onbezet waren. Het leek er erg op dat alleen Nederlands aan de tafels welkom waren die een sjieke uitstraling hadden en dus veel te besteden hadden en die de eigenaar (?) kenden. Pure discriminatie en absoluut niet eerlijk tegenover gasten die maar binnen plaats moesten nemen en konden wachten terwijl bekenden van de eigenaar (?) gewoon konden plaatsnemen. Hier komen wij niet terug! Daarnaast viel het eten flink tegen en duur.
