I have already picked up the gluten-free pastries here several times and am pleasantly surprised every time! 😊 It is sometimes quite difficult to find tasty gluten-free pastries elsewhere, so I am very happy that they have multiple delicious options here. The pastries I have had so far have all been truly delicious, and you absolutely cannot tell that they are gluten-free. It is also nice that the selection changes regularly, so there is always something new to try. Definitely recommended if you have to eat gluten-free, but of course also if you don't! ❤️

A bakery of excellent quality with a rich tradition, rightfully renowned in the region. The assortment is impressive: in addition to the fresh, crispy bread and rolls, the pastries, cakes, and classic Dutch delicacies are also masterfully crafted. I particularly recommend their savory and sweet treats, as well as their famous croquettes, whose taste and texture are simply perfect. The shop is clean and well-organized, and the service is extremely friendly and professional, ensuring you are served quickly even during busy periods. It is clear that great value is placed on quality ingredients and the preservation of traditional recipes. An excellent choice for both daily groceries and luxury pastries for special family occasions. I can wholeheartedly recommend it to everyone!

We got cake from Jan Boer on Valentine's Day, but this is not the quality we expect from Jan Boer. We had 4 pastries & 4 iron cookies; this cost 19.00 in total. The quality of the BPM pastry was absolutely terrible; the BPM pastry was green in color (it is supposed to be white/cream colored) and was only 2 cm high. And that is not even mentioning the taste and presentation; it looked like nothing at all, and for this amount... you go to Jan Boer for the good name and quality, but unfortunately, there are better pastry chefs in Vlaardingen now. For us, no more Jan Boer since the Patisserie College opened. On July 25, 2026, we picked up pastries (a BPM pastry and a double tompouce) from Jan Boer again, just to give them the benefit of the doubt. However, this is really the last time; what you get for an absurd price is truly not normal. When we opened the box, we were shocked by what we received and what we paid. Jan Boer was always a household name in Vlaardingen, but at the moment there really are better bakers like Herweijer and Molendijk. No more Jan Boer for us; this is truly scandalous. Judge for yourself based on the photos. In response to Jan Boer's comment: it is put in a small box and you cannot see what is put inside, but this certainly wasn't caused by transport. It is difficult to admit that this pastry really doesn't look worthy of Jan Boer, and that is why the blame is placed on the customer, but we know better. It is difficult for you to take responsibility, so this doesn't surprise me coming from Bakery Jan Boer. Where you were always one of the best patisseries, you are now truly the worst in Vlaardingen/Schiedam.
