Dukers in Wijk 01 Elsloo

Friday, August 29th. I was in Elsloo, what an unfriendly lady. She couldn't even smile. She should put the "welcome" sign inside. The neighbors also have sandwiches.

Authentic Limburg pies. My favorites: rice pie (just creamy enough) and open gooseberry pie (although I think it could be a bit tarter). They can be kept in the refrigerator for up to a week without any problems.

We ended up here using a gift card. Unfortunately, it was a very bad experience all round! What we wanted to buy turned out to be unavailable in the store, so we had to figure out what we wanted. Since there was a line behind us, we offered to have the lady help other customers first, but "that wasn't possible," she said irritably. We rushed to choose a few items, but we still had some questions about certain pastries, etc. The lady was clearly not happy with us. When we got home, a DURT FLY flew out of the bag with the croissant. My friend wanted to warm the croissant up before eating it (to kill bacteria). It turned out there was STILL A LIVE DURT FLY INSIDE THE CROISSANT! We called the main branch and were told, "This is because the municipality doesn't clean the containers in front of our door; there's nothing we can do about it." So... if you buy anything from Dukers, be aware that a live fly here and there IN your pastry is "just part of it," according to them. Everything else we bought there was simply thrown away, just to be safe.

Poor service, flies on and in the food, and the main branch is blaming the municipality. They didn't help at all. First and last time.

Delicious bread...too bad the Plus in Beek doesn't sell it anymore...now off to Elsloo to buy my bread

Nice place with a large window displaying all their delicious products...
