The quality has gone down dramatically! I was a regular customer ordering the same 3 things: Garlic Naan, Butter Chicken, Saag Paneer. Last few times I ordered, I've noticed the quality of the butter chicken has gone from 7/10 to 0/10. I'm confident that they are operating a ghost kitchen with another company to save costs during certain times. Also I noticed that their portions have decreased significantly, yet the pricing is the same if not more. See attached picture - the butter chicken is now coming in a smaller dish as compared to what it used to as shown by the container under it. It might be clear from the picture but the container size has changed from what it used to come in before. This used to be a decent spot but recently they have started cutting costs, offering low quality food, and skimping out on portions. They have lost a loyal customer and I will not be ordering from here again.

I can’t rate the atmosphere as we had a take away so maybe they get marked down but I don’t mean to. I’m always a bit hesitant of reviews but our experience was excellent. It was a Monday, we usually order elsewhere even though it’s expensive but we knew it was good so didn’t mind paying. However our ‘local’ was shut so we buckled up and tried something new. Really glad we did. I’m great with spice and ordered chicken tikka Marsala curry, chicken tikka chicken for our 10 year old plus a vindaloo for medium spice, it was great and not blah like some places are! Going to think twice before returning to the old favourite! Great balance and spice. Happy for the new discovery. Would definitely return. Thanks!

If you are ordering from them, please don't bother. I had ordered at 7 pm, and after calling twice post 8pm, they mislead me with information like "food is on the way". The man on the phone was absolutely rude and extremely arrogant. He said, "We haven't delivered orders which came at 5pm, so I don't know when you'll get your food." If you do not have the bandwidth, do not take the orders. And maybe hire better employees who can handle situations better than this particular guy did. 08-Dec-25 8.49pm

Why does a once cherished place go rogue? Greed? I would naively like to believe ‘kutch majboori rahi hogi’. Regardless.. the place gathered ratings based on its genuinely exceptional food and the recommendations that spread via word of mouth. I really wish the management didn’t have to sell. And if you opened a new restaurant please let me know! I used to love their lababdar and I ordered it second time yesterday (since the management changing), hoping that the last times disappointed was a one off.. hoping all rumours of management change were fools trying to keep me away from Dabbawala’s great food. Inside the familiar nice packing was a slap on my expectations. The taste was even worse. To new management: please update the menu to remove the dishes you can no longer cook. 3-4 months ago the food used to be great with perfectly balanced flavours, would always get 2 fresh and thin naan breads. Today the food we ordered was terrible, garlic naan was nothing like it was before, and the paneer tikka massala was flavourless. Also poorly packed and leaking oil everywhere. Used to be my favourite restaurant to order Indian from, guess I'll have to look for a new place.

I had high hopes for this restaurant, but unfortunately, it was one of the worst dining experiences I've had in a long time. The food was overwhelmingly spicy, to the point where it completely masked any potential flavor. I enjoy a bit of heat, but this was simply unbearable. If that wasn't bad enough, everything was drenched in oil. Every bite felt greasy, and it made the entire meal feel heavy and unpleasant. The worst part? I found a hair in my dish. That is completely unacceptable and shows a lack of care in the kitchen. To top it all off, the food tasted like it was cooked by an amateur chef. There was no balance of flavors, just a mishmash of poorly executed dishes. For the price, I expected so much more. I would not recommend this place to anyone who values quality food. Save your money and go somewhere else.

Paneer Makhani came with paneer dipped in tomato sauce. Like raw puree. This is not the Dutch Dabbewala I knew. There has been change in chef or management. Not sure but the place has gone from my Favorite Indian takeout to terrible

This place has become a terrible place for Indian food after change in management. Today we ordered food after a brief gap and we were appalled by the lack of quality, service and taste of the food. Here's are some points to note, 1. The chutney promised with lollipops was never delivered 2. Food was too spicy with nothing bug raw chili powder 3. Manchurian was oily and best for causing acidity 4. Got a free black hair in the chicken 5. Chicken pieces were large, uncooked and tasteless Overall, this place has sunken than the mediocrity. There is no sign that it came from Dutch dabbawala. Not sure if it's change in management or chef, but this is probably the worst Indian food I ever had. Never again. I caution readers of this review not to order from this to save yourself from total misery and mouth burning chili spice.

Want to see how worst a restaurant can get after capturing the market with great quality foods in its early years? Visit this place...Utter and complete disappointment... I used to order almost every week untill 7 /8 months ago...then the packaging changed, the taste doesnt exist anymore and the feedbacks are also ignored..and now I place orders just hoping, if the old chef/old management has returned..But, disappointment... The food's quality can only go up from here. This is supposed to be Jeera Rice (in the pic)!! Hahhhaha...

Really bad experience doing home delivery. They wait to get multiple orders before they leave for delivery as a result of which the delivery was late by 1 hour and the food arrived was soggy and tasteless.

I ordered via home delivery and I can say the food was AWESOME!! They have new dishes in the menu and they also left a very sweet message. Even though there are new employees, the food is still tasty and top-notch. Will definitely order again!

The food lacked taste in my opinion and felt there was more potential from the smells and texture. Portions are generous and has good value. However, The veg Manchurian and butter chickens were solid but let downs overall. I’d try the place again for different dishes to give it another chance.

Food used to be consistently good and authentic North Indian Punjabi flavors/taste. Ownership and chef has changed, food is nothing like before nor do they make it Indian style. Chane have no masala and basically just cooked in tomato paste and sent off. Quite disappointing, it was our go to spot for Indian food

A year ago I gave this 5 stars and have ordered several times since. Unfortunately, the quality has really deteriorated. Spinach from the saag paneer seems to be made from frozen spinach, it was saltless and watery. The paneer was also much less good than a while ago. Everything indicates that the quality of the ingredients has been cut back. Shame.

What happened to this restaurant? Ordered from here almost weekly because it was excellent. But the last few times the delivery time has been longer than 2 hours. The food was often cold and the last time there was a long black hair in the food. I tried to make contact via telephone number, email and contact form. But received no response. Super shame because it was always good. But with this quality and no proper handling of complaints, I will never order again.

Delicious! The best Indian food I've ever ordered. I have ordered a number of times and have to say that the butter chicken and saag paneer are highly recommended. Delivery time may be a bit long, but you will get what you want. This restaurant is definitely recommended.

It's a shame to read that the reviews of this restaurant differ so much. In Amsterdam I tested the chicken tikka tandoori dishes from a large number of Indian restaurants and I still rate those from Dutch Dabbawala the highest. The chicken is tender, the quantities are good and always tasty.

Ordered 3 times from this place. 2 times Food was great, however one time dessert was stale and tasted sour.

I was very impressed by the food here. The quality, portions, and flavor were all wonderful. I’m always happy when I find an Indian place that really has spicy, tasty food. Everything was so good we ordered again the next day.

Wow! What a lovely indian takeout - We ordered a bunch of different menu items and everything was delicious. The potato wedges are amazing, the vindaloo is spicy although it would be nice to have a lamb option for the vindaloo! Delivery was quick and packaging is very good. Would definitely recommend this place if you are craving some delicious indian food.

Wow, nice food! We placed an order online and had it delivered. It was delivered exactly at the requested time in well organized and labeled containers. Really enjoyed it and the quantities were very generous. We had two main courses (one with rice and one with roti) and also ordered a naan and this was actually too much. Some Indians only give you a small piece of naan, but here we got two really large pieces of both the roti and the naan. I just expected a few more raisins in the (peshwari) naan. There was mainly a lot of coconut in it. Both the baingan bharta and the paneer makhni were delicious. Now completely full 😄 We will definitely order from here again.

Best indian in the greater Amsterdam area. We moved away from Amsterdam but when we are in town we always order!

We rented a boat and got pav bhaji takeout from this place to eat while cruising through the canals! Honestly, it was one of the best pav bhajis I’ve had outside of India! So so good, loaded with butter just as a good pav bhaji should be 😍 would definitely order or get takeout from here again!

We have been picking up food from this place quite often. It is sad that the quality is just getting worse. We took methi matar malai and all we could taste was matar in a thick gravy. There was no taste of malai or methi. We took the chicken lolly pop and it tasted stale. We will not be coming again and are highly disappointed. It would be nice if the guys at the counter greet you with a smile 😊

Hier besteld, lekker en goed gekruid, niet te vet. Je kan ook kiezen hoe scherp je het geruid wil hebben. Roti en naan waren ook lekker. Ik ga hier zeker vaker bestellen.

This was a completely random pick, I had never been in before or heard about these guys. But what a nice surprise, this was the real deal. I had sour chickpeas, one taste and I was back in India. The flavour was subtle and just perfectly authentic.

We ordered aloo Paratha and pav bhaji and both the dishes tasted bland and nowhere close to Indian. Pav bhaji had just chilli, no other spice. Probably the worst food I had in Amsterdam during my trip

Disappointed to say the least. Aloo parantha was bland AF. And the pav bhaji was just an explosion of Mirchi/spiciness without the necessary flavor. You guys have to buck up. 29 Spices next door was wayy better.

Best Indian takeaway in Amsterdam!

The worst Indian food! Medium Chicken Tikka Massala is extremely spicy and not tasty at all. Naans are underbaked with a strong yeast flavour. Wouldn’t recommend it!

THE MOST AMAZING TASTY INDIAN FOOD I HAVE HAD! Been living in Netherlands (Rotterdam) for about 3 years and surprised that I didn't hear much about this place. Me and my boyfriend just happened to stumble upon this place since they sell pav bhaji. Due to Covid we couldn't eat in but that didn't let them to shy away from good service. First of all we both got a specially packed bag for our own respective order. Everything was neatly packed with 3 layers with cute labels on the package describing each food showing with what it's supposed to be eaten with. They gave us a personal handmade written card wishing ur a healthy new year. The price is super. They serve good hearty portions of food just like an Indian restaurant should. I won't think twice before coming back here from Rotterdam just for another meal. MUST TRY PLACE! I am shocked how this place doesn't have 5 stars yet. They deserve it.

Very good- liked the kulfi in particular. Overall very good and very reasonable value for the money.
