Eetcafe Singel 404 in Grachtengordel-West

My experience was as follows: We ordered breakfast and it arrived beautifully. We ordered tea, but the employee didn't tell us they were out of it. We ordered five teas, but she only brought two. I asked her why, and she said they were out. I asked why she hadn't told me, and she replied that she looked but couldn't find any. Besides that, they served warm water three minutes before breakfast.

The food is very good and you can sit outside in a relaxed atmosphere.

The homemade lemonades are unfortunately very tasteless, lukewarm, and lack any real flavor. The waitresses are friendly but very shy.

Perfect canal side seating to enjoy a nice bite and drinks in the heart of Amsterdam. The new menu includes gluten free items which are worth exploring.

Delicious! The ingredients are top quality, everything is super fresh, and being right next to the canal creates such a pleasant atmosphere. Highly recommended!

Terrible cocktails. Ordered a spritz and it was flat as a pancake. Sent back and ordered a G+T and while better it was sub-par. Service is “sparse”. Avoid.

Delicious Dutch breakfast and great service. Also got a latte, my boyfriend got a cappuccino (pictured below) and the breakfast comes with an orange juice. Would recommend!!

lovely staff, beautiful location, delicious menu and so reasonably priced! couldn’t fault it, went there for a drink and then went back for breakfast the next day! the open sandwiches were lush but very filling, the paninis are fab and the bagels are excellent (the eggs were lovely) and the coffee was delicious! great atmosphere great decor would 100% recommend :))

Lovely omelette with gluten free bread. The waitress said most things could be made gluten free. Delicious coffee.

Stopped for a drink with a friend on a hot day. We were excited to see homemade lemonade on the menu but very disappointed to get syrup/cordial mixed with water for € 6.25. I decided not to drink it and got a refund. The staff were nice and welcoming. Note to the restaurant maybe take off ‘home made’ from the menu.

Titre : Rude response when asking to split bill at lunch: We came for lunch,. The waitress who spoke to us wasn’t the one who served our table, but she stepped in when we asked about payment. I politely asked if we could split the bill. She immediately said no and told me “I’m in my place, you cannot force me to do that.” I wasn’t forcing her at all — I was just explaining calmly. She started accusing me of being rude while I was speaking normally. Nothing was written anywhere about not allowing split bills, and the card machine does have the function. She didn’t let me finish speaking and kept putting the amount in the machine while talking over me. My husband ended up paying the full amount to avoid a scene. The way we were spoken to felt disrespectful for a simple payment question. Madame if the restaurant don’t do this kind of so try to act another way than accusing me of being arrogante as for sure I wasnt If you don’t allow split bills, it should be stated clearly. Otherwise, customers should be treated with basic respect when asking. I was looking for something to eat in Amsterdam and finaly ran into this restaurant randomly because the spot was nice. After being sitted in the cold, the first shock came with the price. I didn’t know that I had to leave my liver here. Second shock, the food itself. I ordered a pancake with apple and cinnamon. I received a crepe with way too far cinnamon and half of a quarter of an apple. I was super dissapointing and still hungry after 10 minutes. I don’t reccomend it. Also, 4€30 for an expresso is massive institutionalised robbery.

I wanted to drink a Marotti beer, but they brought me a different one and claimed it was a Marotti beer just in a different glass. It's really annoying to be lied to.

We were incredibly lucky and got a table right by the water. Blue skies, sunshine, and a few Aperol Spritzes. The owner was very friendly and funny. A perfect spot for a quick break.

Visited on a Saturday at lunchtime and order a tuna melt which was delicious along with a beer. This place has a fantastic view next to the canal and it’s a great place to spend the morning with the family

Great location. Service was lovely once we were seated. Beer and cocktails good. Food was mediocre. Brie smoked chicken had very little chicken. Burger was overcooked. Truffle fries were tasty but not hot. Just didn't hit the mark.

I came here to have a light meal and a drink. I was told that snacks were still available (e.g., fries with truffles). After I had already ordered a drink (for 8 euros), I suddenly received a message that the snacks were no longer available either. Had I known this, I wouldn't have ordered a drink and would have gone somewhere else.

My girlfriend ordered lemonade for €6.25; we expected a larger glass for that price, but it did taste good. I had an iced latte for €4.00; it came in a 250ml glass with ice cubes and took 3 sips on cheesecake. It was tasty, but could be better. The staff try to do their work quickly, which makes them seem abrupt, but they are friendly.

The food is delicious, the seating by the canal is lovely, and the service is friendly. However, the food is a bit pricey.

A lovely place, we used a few times on our short stay on Amsderdam. A good varied choice of food that caters for all tastes. Very Friendly staff, the food is superb and well presented. A nice choice of beers to go with your meal. It can get busy but worth the wait. Outside seating also available if it's warm. Highly recommend. We will use again. 10/10

I'd already eaten there in 2019 and had wonderful memories of it. I went back this weekend and what a treat! The open-faced sandwiches are still fantastic! It's not the place to go for cocktails, though... The little dessert pancakes were amazing too. A great discovery for my sweetheart, who doesn't usually like open-faced sandwiches. A very good meal and a lovely time.

We have brunch here during our visit to Amsterdam. Staff were friendly & attentive. Food was delicious. We sat outside by the water which was so lovely on a sunny day.

The food was amazing and everyone was really freindly. There was a slight mix up with the food but it was quickly sorted and they were very apologetic. I would DEFINITELY reccommend!

We ordered a pancake and an apple pie and it was incredible! So great that we came back again for our last breakfast just for the pancakes. The vibe and view are very relaxing. The staff was very nice and in our 2nd visit, I got icecream and whipped cream on my pancake for free! Worth a stay

I ordered a salmon, avocado, and egg bagel, and it was excellent! The spot is really nice by the docks, and the staff is very welcoming. Go there without hesitation for lunch.

We stopped here for a relaxed lunch after spotting a board advertising pumpkin soup. The dining room was completely full, so we grabbed a table along the canal. It was definitely chilly in November, but we were dressed warmly enough to enjoy the setting. The pumpkin soup was delicious and piping hot, exactly what you want on a cold day. Rich flavor, smooth texture, and served at the perfect temperature. We also ordered mulled wine and learned it is intentionally not very sweet. That was exactly what arrived. Pro tip: ask them to heat it extra hot because it cools quickly when you are seated outside. The fresh mint tea was fragrant and very comforting. For food we shared two sandwiches. The smoked chicken and Brie panini was hot pressed and served open faced with a generous layer of Brie. The tuna melt arrived closed but needed more time to fully melt the cheese, which the team handled immediately when we asked. Both sandwiches had clean flavors and good bread structure although the tuna melt would be even better with an open faced toast to finish the melt evenly. Overall this is a solid daytime cafe with friendly service, a classic Dutch lunch menu, and canal side seating that feels very local. Great option if you are wandering the Nine Streets area.

We stumbled upon this restaurant by chance while searching for a place with delicious food. We tasted the most delicious falafel sandwich and the most amazing scrambled egg bagel with guacamole. I highly recommend it! Yummy! 😋👌🏻 Our Saudi and Gulf brothers will love it too! It's a shame this restaurant isn't praised! 🫶🏻

A bit disappointed by this place, we have taken the bagels : 15€ for a slice of cheese and a boiled egg … the quality and quantity weren’t there. Maybe we have chosen wrongly

Super sandwiches! We stopped at this little place after a long stroll through the streets of Amsterdam. In the summer, there are also some very cute outdoor tables. Inside, there are very few, so you might have to wait a bit. The sandwiches are really good, so I recommend it especially for lunch. Don't expect super low prices, but the quality is there and you can taste it.

Never again!!! The smallest cheeseburger in Amsterdam!!! Tourist rip-off!!! Go two streets away and get a full meal for the same price. The young waitresses couldn't help, and the "boss" wasn't available.

Wonderful little Canal side cafe. A good selection of gluten free open sandwiches. Sadly fries are cooked in the same fryer as gluten containing items so no fries. But the truffle parm steak sandwich was absolutely excellent! Tasty flavoured lemonades and great service. Would recommend.

The food and the terrace were quite disappointing. The Club Sandwich was 6 toasted white bread slices and the home made lemonade tasted like a normal lemonade.

The food is good, the service is fast, and the waitresses are lovely. Other restaurants in Amsterdam should follow their example.
