We had a lovely and delicious meal. The food came very close to the taste of home, something I haven't experienced before. Among the starters, I found the lemper particularly exceptional. The pork belly satay was deliciously roasted, and the sambal goreng green beans were nice and spicy and well-seasoned. We ate until our bellies were full.

We sat outside on the terrace. Eventually, after waiting for quite some time, we ordered 2 drinks, a pastry, and an Indonesian lunch. My pastry was soaked in grease and still cold. The oil temperature was probably too low. The lunch tasted decent, but the soto ajam looked very different. Service was super slow; you have to chase after your own cutlery. They forget everything. We were treated very unfriendly when paying the bill. So... never here again!!!

5 people reserved and ordered main courses, but only 4 people received a main course; worthless service.

The food was very good, but the service was very poor. Had to go inside to order drinks. Staff sit on the terrace and smoke while working. Saw several people sit down and eventually get up because they weren't being served. If the service were better, this would be a good place.

I've been a few times for the buffet night, which was fantastic. Today I just went for a bite to eat. The soto and bami soup were delicious. I found the gado gado and bami very pricey for what you get, but everything was flavorful. However, I found the service really inadequate. I personally don't mind young, inexperienced staff, but I literally had to go inside and ask for everything: the drinks, the menu, the cutlery, and where the food was (we had eaten after 2 hours, but hadn't received our reordered food after 30 minutes). The staff were sitting on the terrace themselves and were hardly proactive. No more à la carte for us, mainly due to the price compared to the portion sizes in contrast to the buffet. Tip: hire a floor manager who encourages the younger staff to be more hospitable and proactive. There are plenty of people walking around, but they don't see where the work needs to be done themselves. Everyone has to learn, but this was truly unprofessional; it's a shame, because it's a nice place.

We had lunch. It was very tasty and well prepared. The only downside is that you have to wait a bit longer before your drink order is taken and brought to you.

On Saturday, July 25, 2026, the four of us had a delicious meal at Saté Indonesia. We checked in at the bar and were received very warmly. We mentioned that we had reserved a spot on the terrace. There were still a few tables available, so we could choose where we wanted to sit. Both the ordering and the delivery of the food and drinks were quick and very friendly. The food (rice table for 4 people) is delicious ✅ extensive ✅ and PLENTY 👌🏻 We enjoyed ourselves, so there is definitely a reason to come back again.

We absolutely did not have a pleasant experience here… Out on the terrace, everyone was being served, but we were completely ignored after finally being able to order after half an hour of drinks, without any apologies… then ordering food… yes, they had to ask because the kitchen was closing; we had already been waiting 40 minutes before we could even order food… the drinks were then forgotten again as well. The rice looked like sushi rice… it was so sticky it was inedible. The service was a farce. Never again for us…. The people working there are really not professional. Shame.

Very tasty satay. One of the few places where you can get delicious satay kambing (goat).

We had a pretty good meal here. However, the price-quality ratio leaves something to be desired. Staff are hard to find; to order a drink during dinner, you have to go inside to get the waitstaff.

We waited for our food for more than an hour (3 people). Once it arrived, my mother, who had ordered sambal goreng telor, received 2 eggs and a bowl of rice. This cost 15 euros. Quite pricey, I think? The satay tasted good but was very dry.

The kids serving don't look at what's happening outside; they run inside after every order instead of checking if there are more new customers. The girls still have a lot to learn.

Delicious authentic Indonesian food

Very busy. We only had drinks. The service was good, despite the crowds. I did find it strange, though, that if you needed to go to the toilet, you had to pass the kitchen. The toilet was right next to it. It was clean, though.

Had a delicious meal. It's not an extensive menu, but what is on it, like satay, is very tasty. And you get a beautifully presented cup of coffee. And all for a very reasonable price. The menu is extensive with many tasty dishes.

Not a second time for us; we are looking further for a really good Indonesian restaurant.

We had heard a lot about this restaurant, so we decided to give it a try ourselves. Upon entering, we were greeted by a young lady who apparently only spoke dialect, which wasn't easily understood by everyone. Our drink order arrived quickly, after which we started at the buffet. It would be nice if the names of the dishes were displayed at the buffet so you know what you are putting on your plate; this isn't always clear. For instance, I scooped up something with liver, assuming it was smoor. The flavors of the dishes were authentic, though a bit spicy here and there. My final conclusion is that I have definitely had better Indonesian food.

We had made a reservation on Thursday for Friday evening. On Friday afternoon, we informed them that we would be arriving fifteen minutes late. I was told it was no problem. Upon arrival, the name was unknown. Plenty of room, so just pick one. The food wasn't really warm. Neither my wife's nor mine. Rice and noodles together with 3 small satay skewers. The taste was fine, but too expensive for what was served.

Had a delicious meal at the satay house with a pangang menu and nasi kuning. Very flavorful and generous portions. Delicious. For dessert, a tjendol and es campur went down very well 👍 The restaurant was quite full, very good atmosphere with Indonesian music.

We had made a reservation and arrived at 19:10. Because the weather was nice, we sat outside. At 19:25, my partner went inside to ask for a menu, as no one had come to us after all that time. After waiting for minutes again without success, I went inside myself to ask for attention and get a menu. This was handled completely unprofessionally. They didn't even know where we were sitting, and when I pointed out that we had been waiting for quite some time, the response I received was: “I told you to wait.” — in an unfriendly and condescending tone. I have worked in the hotel industry myself for years, but I have rarely experienced such a rude and almost shouting response. That you, as a guest, simply ask for a menu and are treated like this is truly unacceptable. Hospitality means that guests feel welcome. That was absolutely not the case here. Eventually, we left, and what should have been a pleasant evening ended in disappointment at home. Perhaps basic hospitality training is not an unnecessary luxury.

We always enjoyed coming here, but this time we weren't even served. We asked for a menu twice and still received nothing. The lady behind the bar was downright mean, and the staff were arguing amongst themselves while we stood waiting. In the end, we just left. The friendly team from the past seems to have disappeared. It's a shame, but for us, it's a reason not to come back.

First of all, a compliment to the young man; I would wish him a job at another restaurant!! I would have liked to review the food, but didn't get to. I left after 1 hour. The kitchen was jammed, that was the reason.... The tables were not cleared, not wiped down, no service, although everyone was chatting very busy with each other. We went to spend our money at another restaurant in Geleen.

Extremely disappointing, tasteless.

Went there today for a quick bite to eat. It took a very long time before someone came to take our drink order; customers who came in after us were served faster. They had a limited selection today due to King's Day. But 9 euros for three satay skewers where you had to search for the meat, plus a very small amount of lettuce and satay sauce, I still find quite expensive. A bit ridiculous prices, but above all, poor service.

Reserved for 2 people on a Saturday evening at 7 PM; the place was reasonably busy but not full. After 10 minutes, we were asked what we wanted to drink and a menu was supposed to be brought. A quarter of an hour later... still no drinks and no menu, and all around us dissatisfied sounds from other tables who had been waiting for a sparkling water or their food for 45 minutes. Suddenly, a waitress came to ask what we wanted to drink, so I indicated that we had already ordered but hadn't received anything and asked how long it would take for the food to arrive if we ordered... her face couldn't have been more uninterested and her answer was "no idea, but it's busy." I asked... "but within an hour..." "no idea" was the answer.... We left without eating or drinking and went to another place where we had a delicious meal and the staff actually knew what service and working hard was all about. Never again! Very well-prepared authentic Indonesian food. Really enjoyed it. More than enough, and we are quite big eaters. The food did take a while to arrive (it was very busy). The staff did their utmost and, despite the high workload, were friendly and attentive. A cozy place; we will definitely be back.

We have had delicious meals several times, but every time the service completely missed the mark.. Last Saturday was the last straw for us. Upon entering, we waited politely to see if anyone would greet us; we were ignored, and the staff continued chatting busily with each other behind the bar. There were hardly any tables occupied inside (it is mainly parents sitting there with coffee), so we just took a seat ourselves. (There was a nauseating smell, and I discovered an air freshener plugged into a socket; this is fine for a bathroom, but not right next to the table where you want to eat.) The empty tables were not clean, and there were rings from drinking glasses stuck everywhere. 15 minutes later, we still hadn't been greeted by anyone, so no drink orders were taken either. The staff were still busy talking to each other; we saw that tables around us were also waiting impatiently for their drink orders even though it wasn't busy. We got up and left with the idea that no one had noticed us at all. Just a simple "hello" when someone walks into the restaurant could make a difference. What a shame! The food is great! But the service is terrible; it hasn't been up to standard even once. After the previous visit, we were already hesitant to go back (normally fries are always fried for my toddler, but the waitress insisted that this absolutely couldn't be true; in the end, of course, it was possible, just like the previous times), so this was truly the last time for us.

We ate there last weekend. Upon arrival, we still had to wait for our table despite having a reservation because other people had sat down at our table. The service was substandard, especially the man who came to take our order. The staff are young; they apparently haven't learned to say thank you when they still receive a tip despite everything. The service was slow; we had to wait a very long time for our drinks every time. The food was okay. I certainly wouldn't recommend it.

It didn't disappoint. We're from The Hague! The rijsttafel had generous portions, so we headed home with a bag full.

Terrible, ate with 7 people, no good service, late with everything, waited 15 minutes to order drinks, food, burnt meat. No, a waste of my 290 euros. Also, reserved for 7 o'clock but couldn't get a table because they had given it away. Left a tip anyway because it was in our pocket, didn't even say thank you and didn't say goodbye when leaving. After sitting at the table for 15 minutes with no one coming over to ask what I wanted to order, and with the fact that it really wasn't busy inside, I just got up. I can spend my money anywhere, so the service was miserable.

After many glowing reviews, we went to eat here with high expectations... the food got cold after an hour... ordered for 5 people but only received enough for 4... nothing was done about it after complaining... the waiter was completely uninterested... we are never going here again.

Delicious Indonesian buffet on Wednesdays and Thursdays. We had a wonderful meal. Truly authentic Indonesian food. Delicious satay, etc. Friendly staff. Reservations recommended, and then just dig in. 29.95 euros pp for unlimited feasting.

I visited for the first time today. 😉 For the "Weekend Buffet"... And what can I say?... very delicious and authentic! ❤️ Definitely a clear recommendation! I'm not exaggerating when I say that trying the various dishes at the buffet reminded me of my mom's or even my grandma's cooking. ❤️ I'll definitely be back! - The service: was very attentive and checked on us regularly. I really can't say anything negative about that. - There's a nice outdoor area, but we sat inside today because it was still a bit chilly.

We had another delicious meal together today, just the three of us; we even got satay kambing (which isn't on the menu). I am also proud that I got to design the stickers for their food cart.

We went on an all-you-can-eat buffet day. Upon entering, we were asked to wait for a server to show us to our table. This took at least 10 minutes. After being seated, we also had to wait at least 10-15 minutes for someone to come to our table to take our drink orders. During the second round, we were told that the Babi Ketjap and satay skewers were unfortunately out of stock. That was a major disappointment, as you'd expect satay skewers to be a must for an all-you-can-eat concept. Then we were told that the Tjendol was also out. We then asked for the bill, and unfortunately, I realized too late that they'd charged us for extra drinks even though they hadn't been ordered. We expressed our displeasure by saying it was a shame so much had already been consumed, after which we were told that the owner was on vacation and that we should perhaps have come earlier, so there might have been more. All in all, the service was very poor, the food quality was fine, it was just a shame there was so much left. Unfortunately, I won't be returning here again.

I drove from Maastricht to Geleen with my old, critical Indonesian father. We have already been to all the Indonesian restaurants in Maastricht with him. We chose the Cemilan Besar, the rijsttafel (rice table) combined with shrimp and Pangang menu. It was more than enough for four people and tasted delicious. We took containers home with us. My father wants to drive to Geleen again next time. He loved it, and that says a lot!

The food was fine, the service was poor. We had made a reservation for 5:00 PM, thinking it was due to the rush. The people who arrived at the same time as us had already eaten, so we still hadn't had anything. I asked if they'd forgotten us, but they said they'd check. They came back and said no, 10 minutes. That turned out to be 15. So, after being inside for 1 hour and 15 minutes, we finally got our food. After paying, I thought that wasn't right, but it turned out they'd added two Weizen beers that I didn't have. €9.80. This isn't the first time I've had to wait so long. Perhaps a tip for the staff: spend less time with each other and other staff members and more time with the guests.

The food was delicious. There's a bit of coconut in almost everything, though, which depends on the taste. The service was okay, but could have been a bit more professional.

We went today, and unfortunately, we were disappointed. It was buffet night, but the replenishment was really poor. No one even came to ask if we wanted anything else to drink. When we paid, we weren't even asked if everything was to our liking. I don't think we'll eat here again.

The atmosphere is first and foremost wonderful, very peaceful, the staff is friendly, and then we get to the food and drinks. The Tjendol is truly delicious; it couldn't be better, and therefore gets a well-deserved 10 from me! The satay babi was also delicious and, along with the bread and the longtong, which were delicious, earns a 9.0. The salad was a minor drawback, though. Homemade atjar would have made it more appealing. So, overall, I give it a 9.5. Well deserved.

When I'm lazy to cook my own Indonesian food and I'm craving for it, this place provide the most authentic Indonesian food I can find in Geleen. So I'm happy to have access to it.

We opted for a meal for two. More than enough, delicious flavor, but the balance between meat and vegetables/side dishes was a bit too meat-oriented for our liking. The staff was very friendly, open, and attentive. The atmosphere in the restaurant could use some improvement, but it's certainly not unpleasant.

I thought I'd have a tasty soto here, but it was a huge disappointment. The broth was okay, but everything else was very mediocre. Bread instead of rice, a small piece of egg, meager vegetables (not even bean sprouts), and two stray pieces of chicken. Such a shame, I was really craving it.

We were here earlier in the evening, and I was very enthusiastic and had a delicious meal. This time we wanted lunch -> "12 o'clock snack"! Poor service; after a long wait, I had to ask someone to take our order. Huge difference in wait staff. The "12 o'clock snack" wasn't available. Fortunately, the chef was accommodating and came up with a variation. Satay once: it was cold. Not really satisfied at all. It was a disappointment, unfortunately.

Super well-maintained Indonesian restaurant, delicious food and good friendly service, highly recommended.

Reasonably priced, but I don't find it Indonesian at all. The satay sauce is a real thick Dutch satay sauce (like Wijko), and the lettuce that comes with the satay is in honey mustard sauce, which doesn't complement Indonesian food at all. I've eaten at a lot of Indonesian restaurants and restaurants, but this is the most Dutch-tasting. Friendly staff, though, and the place looks nice.

What a terrible experience! A whole lot of staff serving, and we often found ourselves socializing around the cash register... the first round of drinks was quickly ordered upon arrival by a waitress (which was a good thing), who then presumably finished her shift, unfortunately... Despite the four staff, I had to ask for another drink myself. There was much more money to be made there... After a long wait, we finally got our main course. The food wasn't great either; the nasi and bami (fried rice) tasted awful, and the satay was lukewarm, and the chicken thigh dish was also dry. A waste of time and money!

Great restaurant. The food was delicious and well-seasoned. The Rijsttafel Batavia is more than enough for two people, and for €45 for two, it's a great price. Friendly service, too.

Always top and tasty, very hospitable

We had a buffet on a Thursday evening. We initially had to sit upstairs, which wasn't very inviting. It was also inconvenient, as I had difficulty walking. The buffet was very extensive with plenty of choices. However, there was no indication of what it was, so you often had no idea what you were eating. You also had to carefully check whether it was meat or fish. We also found the flavors rather bland. The staff was friendly and quickly cleared the table and plates. But unfortunately, the buffet didn't live up to our expectations in terms of flavor. We expected more and have often eaten better Indonesian food. Or perhaps we'll return and try a dish from the menu.

We had a delicious meal from the buffet. Fantastic, what a selection! Everything was perfect, even the music. Afterwards, we were offered a glass of cendol.

Delicious rice table and it was certainly enough

We ordered the panggang menu. The dish was delicious. After dinner, we ordered tjendol, which didn't meet our expectations. There were large chunks of "coconut cream" in the tjendol. According to the woman behind the bar, this is how tjendol should be, and we were told to stir our glasses well. Our group, two people of Indonesian descent and two of their partners, know how tjendol should be. The chunks were so large that we couldn't dissolve them. Furthermore, two glasses had the chunks and one didn't. When I asked the woman behind the bar if this was correct, she reacted angrily, and after I returned to the table, I also mentioned it to other staff members. As a staff member, you should always listen to a customer and speak to them properly. The staff is very young. There were no experienced people present, so we had to wait a long time before we could order. We were here with friends who had been here before, and according to them, this was the first time things had gone this way.

We had a delicious meal from the open buffet. It was just a shame there weren't any cards with the dishes telling us what they were called and whether we could or couldn't eat them. It was also a shame that the chicken satay at Saté Indonesia restaurant was gone by dinnertime and wasn't replenished.

Had a delicious lunch here. We had Dutch cuisine, not Indonesian.

We ate once at the old building, and we had no complaints there. In the new building (more than twice as large), the food is also excellent; portions are generous and well-seasoned. The chef is super friendly and professional. However, the staff seemed clueless and had little experience. We had to wait a long time for our drinks and there was one small mistake with our order, but all in all, it worked out well. The delicious food made up for the long wait.

Nice restaurant. The food was good. Wednesdays and Thursdays they have buffet. There was a lot of choice. Especially saté and peanutsauce. Sadly there was no information about, what was in the food. I almost missed ayam ketjap because I thought it was fish. Please name the dishes and if it's ayam, babi or ikan. Optionel spekkoek or que lapis for dessert would be nice too.

We had a delicious Indonesian rice table. Everything is freshly made, there's a cozy large terrace, but also a large restaurant inside. Friendly staff. Highly recommended! Our bellies were full! On Wednesdays and Thursdays, the food is buffet-style. I'll definitely be back. The price was for two people, food and drinks. And definitely worth it!

Ended up on the advice of sister and brother-in-law. Coincidentally, buffet on that day. So ideal to try different dishes. Every dish was simply delicious.

Had a lovely meal with Mo and Luna

Satay is in the name so that raises expectations. The satay-ajam tasted ok in itself. The cubes could be a bit smaller. Then the marinade will also penetrate deeper. The satay sauce was certainly below par and not Indonesian so perhaps not homemade, including too little soy sauce and not sweet enough. You can actually see it from the color. The dish Ritja Ritja, on the other hand, was a nice surprise. The sauce was very rich and spicy enough and the amount of chicken was more than average. The service was young and lacks the element of host/hostess. There were enough staff walking around. The location is fairly new, neatly and attractively decorated and there is a nice large terrace. Parking is possible a stone's throw away on the market. Update 20-06-2025: Quick response to my review. That means that my review is taken seriously. I really appreciate that. And yes, that's right. Tastes certainly differ. Mine is based on those of different islands. Personally, I like the Balinese taste. But I will go back to taste the satay sauce again - it can vary from day to day of course - and also try another dish to see how it is.

The food and drinks etc is delicious and super tasty, And the owner is also friendly and very hospitable just like we Indian people are. Only what I find less is, the staff in the service, I don't find them really friendly and hospitable! They seem more like they don't feel like their work! For an Indonesian restaurant, I find the staff in the service less! (Especially the ladies.) They need to learn more about customers and how to receive them best and be more friendly and also really hospitable. I come from Indonesia myself and was born and raised there and the difference is there, With us it is about conviviality, eating and being together and having respect for each other and not to forget always keep smiling and positive. Good food, very nice service. Good experience. Two very small points for improvement: A little more food for the price would be nice, and a separate dish for the little ones. But in the end, top!

Delicious chicken satay eaten with Nasi goreng. You can taste that it was made on the charcoal BBQ. Satay sauce also delicious in taste. Nasi had some lumpy balls in it which did not bother me, but I did hear another customer sitting next to us. You sometimes have to "catch" staff to order something, I personally have no problem with that. We will definitely go back.

Have wanted to try it for a while and today I spontaneously and totally inappropriately dressed walked in. Food was very good and large portions. Not enough space on the table. Staff is incredibly friendly and we had a lot of fun with them, especially her. Service that remained very friendly, polite and also very professional. Compliments. I think we may not have been the easiest customers, but were treated more than nicely. I will definitely come back here.

The order was taken. I asked if there was rice with the tempeh. The answer was no, only with meat and fish. Ok, ordered a bowl of rice. Table companion asked if there was atjar and kroepoek with the sate babi? No. Ok, also ordered extra. It took quite a while before the food arrived. When it was served we got 2 bowls of white rice, 2x atjar and 2x kroepoek. I got tofu. I hadn't ordered it. It was exchanged without any problem. Tempeh was cold. I asked about it. Yes, we only serve it warm on request... ok, how should I know? The nasi was also cold. Yes, she said, it has to stay warm on the warming plate. Nice, but it turned out that it wasn't on. At the end they asked if it had tasted good. We explained about the atjar and kroepoek. Yes, the girl said, that depends a bit on the kitchen. Sometimes they give it with it, sometimes they don't. Drinks were only put down in bottles the second time, no new glass. Now I had to pay 15.50 plus 3 euros for rice while rice actually belonged with it. 15.50 for that bowl of cold tempeh was also really too expensive. Our criticisms were heard but nothing was done about it. Very unfortunate. 1st and last time for me. Had email correspondence with the owner about this review (I think). He watched the camera footage... (what???) to trace the incident and address his staff. The offer was then 2 free drinks on a next visit. Great, that 3rd person should not come along... Given the extra money we spent unjustly last time, no thanks.

We come here regularly, but only because of the good food. Today we felt like having a Soto Ajam, so of course we went to Geleen and back :) We could forget about that 'just'....... We are used to the fact that the staff is not at all familiar with each other, and sometimes just walks around like a headless chicken. Today was no different. We had to wait a long time before someone came to us, but that can happen. After we had ordered (2 Soto Ajam, and a portion of satay), it took no less than 70 minutes before the soups were on the table. 70 minutes for two soups!!!! Just before my patience ran out and we wanted to leave, they arrived with the soup, and also the satay. Without cutlery, we had to wait a few minutes for that of course. The satay was lukewarm and the satay sauce was even less than lukewarm. I didn't feel like saying anything about this because at the table next to us, things had also gone wrong. And the reaction of the employee said enough. The snack that these people had ordered at 12 o'clock, appeared to be gone, so they had added another snack without consultation. I won't go into details. The soup was nice and warm and was very tasty, that must also be said. The umpteenth experience at Saté Indonesia where you can eat very well, but the staff is otherwise below par. Little experience and perhaps a bit understaffed today, I don't know. But if you want to run a restaurant, you have to get this right first. Next time when we want to eat a soup 'quickly' we will think again :) We will just stick to the buffet next time because this is always very good.

Ate here for the second time. Now in the new building. The food taste was excellent again. Some downsides; the food was not nice and warm. The tables are far too small to put all that food from a rice table on the heating plates. Other than that, we will definitely come back.

We had a delicious meal and friendly helpful staff. The restaurant only opened because the other one was too small. With some more Indonesian items to decorate the restaurant, you will feel completely in Indonesia. 🇮🇩 But all in all...great food.
