Community centre "Het Gescheelde Tomaatje" in Eibergen: a place where you can have such a good time that you almost forget that you went to a community centre and not to a cosy café in the big city. Imagine: you walk in and the first thing you see is a wall full of photos of local celebrities – mainly consisting of the prize winners of the annual tomato wrestling festival, which we should all attend by the way. Who would have thought that tomatoes could be so versatile? The atmosphere is so homely that you immediately feel welcome, as if you were plopping down on your grandmother's couch, but without the smell of forget-me-nots and with more 'interesting' conversations about the latest developments in the neighbourhood. The volunteers are friendly, but it is clear that the only real challenge for them is organising the cooking, which will in no way prepare your taste buds for what is to come. The community center is not big, but it offers everything you need: a dartboard with at least three missing darts, a karaoke system that has been lovingly and carefully set to the right volume to bring out your inner rock star, and a pool table whose balls always move just a little too much – but that doesn’t make the competition any less exciting. And then there’s the café! The coffee is *this* time exceptionally good, but the cookies are always a surprise. You never know if they’re freshly baked or just mysteriously come from a forgotten pantry. And the name, “Het Gescheelde Tomaatje” – who came up with that? The name makes you think of a well-intentioned fruit that may have been left in the sun for a little too long, but it makes the community center all the more charming. Nothing is perfect here, but that’s exactly what makes it so special. So, if you’re ever in Eibergen and you’re in need of an uncomplicated evening full of fun, don’t hesitate to go to “Het Gescheelde Tomaatje”. The tomatoes may be torn, but the atmosphere is always whole.

Incredibly friendly staff. The food was delicious. Tender meat, well-seasoned, and served with a tasty sauce. The plates were also beautifully presented, which is a plus, as everyone wants something special. Highly recommended for a lovely and satisfying dinner. Oh, and don't forget to save room for the delicious ice cream sundaes!

One of the best "all you can eat" restaurants. Reservations are highly recommended to avoid disappointment. Large private parking. A very warm welcome, well-trained, and pleasant staff. Spacious layout with numerous table settings and comfortable chairs. A separate children's section with lots of activities and even a movie theater and face painting. A wide variety of options to enjoy the wide selection of dishes. Skilled chefs behind the grill, teppanyaki, and wok. An extensive selection of desserts and, let's not forget, the delicious house wine. Self-serve soft drinks and beer, as well as bottled drinks. If you're in the area, go and see for yourself; there's too much to list.
