They were also very child-friendly; they even brought a game to our table because the kids were a bit restless. Open after the lockdown with a new menu! Welcoming, friendly, with attention to food and guests! The food is good and the price is fair. Long known to divers, but cyclists, walkers, and passers-by also know how to find Even Pause.

I stumbled across Even Pause online and thought I'd give it a try. The atmosphere is typical of a chip shop, but that doesn't necessarily mean anything. We found a free table right away and were served quickly. We ordered loaded fries, and they definitely fell short of our expectations. Don't get me wrong, the fries were tasty, and overall, the food was good. But all things considered, I'd say the place is overhyped because of social media.

We were a group of four for dinner. We hadn't made a reservation beforehand. It was around 5-5:30 pm. The staff was very friendly. The atmosphere was also very nice. The food was absolutely delicious. I can highly recommend it. The price was perfectly reasonable.

Yes, you can do that. It's presented in a somewhat fun way. The wait was really long, just for the menu and the drink. The food tasted okay, but it didn't blow us away.

Even Pause is simply the perfect place for a relaxing break! The fries are super crispy, fresh, and made from Zeeland potatoes. Whether you prefer them classic, with the delicious Even Pause herbs, or as loaded fries with cheese sauce or stoofvlees (a local specialty). They also offer build-your-own burgers, where you can choose the individual ingredients for your own burger. The quality is top-notch, and the service is friendly and welcoming. Highly recommended!

The choice of regular fries, fries with salt, or the flavorful house spices makes it complete. We enjoyed the fresh herring, the richly topped Loaded Fries “Even Pause”, the delicious kibbeling, the tender sweet spareribs, and the fragrant satay. Everything was fresh, flavorful, and prepared with care. The hip atmosphere, the beautiful location, and the hospitable service make this a place you love to return to. A big thumbs up to the entire team for your hard work and clearly noticeable enthusiasm. Absolutely recommended for a cozy & tasty lunch at a fair price!

Even though the service was very friendly, we can't give it more stars. We waited a very long time for our order, and we can't confirm the high ratings for the food here. We had a burger, kibbeling with fries, two frikandel specials, and one kipkorn. The food was consistently under-seasoned, not hot, and very expensive.

We ate here for the first time today, mainly because of the many positive reviews. There were five of us, and we each ordered something different, from schnitzel to XXL frikandel to loaded fries. We've been there several times before, and the food was great. However, our last visit was a complete disaster. The cook or server came to the tables with clothes so filthy I've never seen anything like it. The "Lekkerbeck" (a type of bread roll) was a tiny, child's portion, served on a small plate. The price was an outrageous €11! The fries were nowhere near as good as they used to be. They offered fries in three price categories, but the large portion was no different from the small one. All in all, unfortunately, never again!

The best fish and chips I have ever eaten. Every time I am in Zeeland, I try to stop by here, and so should you. A small portion is also enough for two people for lunch.

A small portion is not small! If you order fries, you get a huge chunk (yes, a whole chunk) of chips. The fried fish fillet is also very large. Everything is very well seasoned. It was just a bit quiet, so we looked out onto the parking lot.

I wasn't impressed. There are better burgers nearby. Unfortunately, the burger was only lukewarm and the buns were cold. The fries were tasty and served in clogs, which I really liked (but unfortunately, that wasn't enough for three stars). The special salt that came with it was delicious. We even took some home with us.

Best kibbeling and fries on the Zeeland coast. Very friendly staff, pleasant seating, and the fries are served in traditional Dutch clogs. The beer is also delicious, and our wonderful server even remembered what we wanted to eat and drink the next day. Even Pause is idyllically located near our holiday park on the Grevelingenmeer lake, and there's lovely outdoor seating. Dogs are welcome.

Young staff, but the service was very good. They regularly asked if we wanted drinks and if everything was to our liking. There were also toys for the children who were with us. The food was tasty and the portions were really good.

What a great place! We ordered fries and some snacks to go, absolutely delicious, the chicken nuggets were our absolute favorite – even KFC can't compete! :D The service was so nice and friendly, I haven't experienced that in a long time. While we waited for our food, our daughter was allowed to play inside with books and toys – excellent facilities. Please keep up the great work! I hope I'm in the area again sometime, and then I'll definitely be there! I've rarely been so happy to give 5 stars! 👍🏻

We stopped there for a break during a bike tour. We really enjoyed it: the food (bacon burgers with fries served in a wooden bowl) was delicious, the service was good, and the atmosphere was very nice.

A very cozy cafeteria that's not really a cafeteria, but more of a 4-star restaurant. Today I had a fried herring sandwich, what a fantastic invention and delicious. The owners are incredibly friendly. Oh, and don't forget to buy the potato seasoning to take home.

Marijn's eyes are shining as he talks about this restaurant. A local who almost convinced our entire table to switch restaurants that very evening. Today we ate kibbeling (cod) with four people. My brother-in-law was even offered a delicious new herring product to try. He was thrilled with the taste. He's becoming a big fan. And that kibbeling, oh my, what a treat it was. Not fake, but real cod, and fried just the way it should be. We'll make this our regular spot when we're in Zeeland. Beautiful location, too. Greetings from two former divers and their spouses. P.S. It was nice and warm next to the stove.

We had a very tasty hamburger. The baguette with brie was also delicious. It arrived a little late because one of the bags was burnt. This was immediately corrected, and we all received a free drink as compensation.

No longer a hidden gem, but still a top spot for fine dining. The homemade fries with herb salt and fresh kippers (cod in batter) are highly recommended. The mega burger was good, but the bun was too dry. Good value for money.

I'm giving Even Pause 5 stars because this is a truly fantastic place to eat. I initially thought about giving it 4 stars because the restrooms are outside, and I ordered plain spareribs but got sweet marinated ones. Furthermore, the staff were incredibly attentive and helpful, so those 4 stars were well deserved. But when the desserts were being served, one of them came with a cookie, and both my children (who had a fantastic ice cream from the children's menu) wanted that cookie. Within seconds, the staff member was back at our side with a cookie for each of us. Add to that the fact that the spareribs were almost as juicy as my own, falling right off the bone. It's a nice difference between a small appetite and a big appetite (which is a really large portion for a man). Well-filled wine glasses and a cozy atmosphere—what more could you ask for? And then the bill arrived... That was the biggest surprise! I haven't had such a delicious meal in a long time, with a bill you can't even afford. Therefore, a well-deserved 5 stars. Highly recommended, and if we're ever in the area, we'll definitely come back.

We went there with our little dog 🐶 and had the meal deal with kibbeling. Super fresh and delicious. The service was very friendly and attentive, and the price was right. Definitely worth a visit.

We went here for dinner with the family. What a lovely place to eat, and the staff were friendly. In the reviews, we only saw the first section in the photo, which seems quite small, but it turns out there's also a "restaurant" section with a cozy atmosphere. The food was excellent. Definitely recommended.

Update Nov 2025: After eating here for a year now, the quality is and remains excellent. The staff and owner are incredibly friendly and welcoming. Regardless of the crowds, there's always a good, cozy atmosphere and quality. This is top-notch!

On Thursday, October 30th, after diving, I warmed up by the stove and ordered a portion of "leukbek" (fish steak) with fries and a beer. The fish was perfectly cooked, the service was friendly, and the price was very reasonable.

I have to think back a long, long time to the last time I ate such disgusting fries. I don't mean the "even pause" seasoning—that's really good—but our Pomeranians were in the fryer at least three times. You really shouldn't serve that to a guest!

Delicious kibbeling with spicy fries in a clump. And a salad with a bit of everything. For dessert, we chose our favorite ice cream; they have a choice of 10 or more flavors. The service is very friendly, and the kitchen is very fast.

We spent a week in Brouwershaven and ate there four times. Everything was freshly prepared, great value for money 👍, and the staff was very friendly.

What great service! Service with a smile still exists here. Here you can enjoy delicious fries, nicely served in a clog. The kibbeling (fried fish) and the farmer's schnitzel were also excellent. Thanks to the various portion sizes, you can eat here with both large and small appetites. If you're not in the mood for fried food, they also serve sandwiches, salads, and fried eggs.

It's gotten very expensive, and the regular kibbeling is the same size as the large kibbeling, but with two lemon slices. If someone mentions it, they give you an extra slice. Strange. Besides, I found the kibbeling salty and flavorless this time.

Friendly, but expensive, and the ice cream is truly awful. A long wait, and then a lot of confusion about a simple cheese sandwich (which, for some reason, always seemed to come with ham).

Location close to the Grevelingen Lake. Right next to the parking lot, which is used by many divers. Lots of activity and plenty to see. Service was mediocre and the food was bad. The fries at the Schuhe restaurant were a good idea. Unfortunately, I can't understand the 4.6 stars. I wouldn't recommend it.

The food was truly delicious, the service was very friendly and attentive to the guests' well-being. According to the menu, the "Strammer Max" is only available until 5:00 PM. We were still able to order at 5:30 PM without any problems. The restrooms have to be shared with the divers, who unfortunately left it a bit sandy and wet. Nevertheless, it's recommended and worth a visit.
