Amazing coffee workshop! Just finished. Brian was passionate and friendly. He explained everything clearly: from single origin to third wave coffee. He had a good answer for every question. What I liked best was that Brian really listened to what we wanted to learn. He delved deep into specialty coffee and tailored everything perfectly to us. Not standard, but truly personal. So if you want to get serious about coffee: definitely go to Brian's workshop!

Awesome coffee shop with a great atmosphere and friendly staff. The coffee was really good, and the food was fresh and tasty. It’s got a really nice cycling vibe, making it a great spot to stop in before or after a ride. Definitely worth checking out if you’re in the area — I’ll definitely be back!

Great spot if you’re looking for good coffee or a nice place to work. The team is so friendly and welcoming, and the vibe is great. The cakes and cookies are fantastic too! It’s perfect for a date or meeting up with friends. You can also stop by after a bike ride, or get your bike fixed while enjoying a coffee and waiting.

Very good place. They use a La Marzocco, and you can taste that immediately in the quality of the espresso. Light, perfectly balanced, with lovely citrus notes — truly an excellent espresso. Additionally, there is a nice atmosphere and the music is very good. Highly recommended!

Very cozy café, centrally located. Cakes are homemade and vegan. Coffee and food is extremely delicious. Special thanks to Sam, who always has a smile on his face.

I just took a photo for the app, which also found this place for me. The toasted sandwiches contain exactly enough protein for today. It was very tasty. The service in the shop is quick and pleasant.

I've had better pita breads in other places, but food ain't the main reason to come to this place. I will definitely come back and try the coffee :-)

It is very confusing that the menu on the website does not match the menu in the cafe. I ordered a pre-workout shake (or something like that, I don't remember the name) because peanut butter wasn't listed as an ingredient on the website menu, but firstly, when I ordered it, it didn't seem like the staff really knew what it was (it was later explained that the names on the online menu don't match the names on the physical menu either), and when I tasted it, there was clearly peanut butter in it? I also wanted a brownie, but apparently they don't sell them (even though it is actually on the menu), then I wanted the chocolate cake as a second choice, but it turned out that wasn't in the assortment anymore either. The staff was very sweet and very friendly, so there are absolutely no problems with that, and they handled this very well with apologies! But it remains a bit weird and confusing.

Very sympathetic staff that loves talking bikes, tyre pressure and helping out! We visited three times during a short cycling trip in the area, and coming back in for good coffee and vegan cakes was a delight each time :)

We were given such a warm and friendly welcome by Sam, one of the staff members. He even took the time to write down some recommendations for other great restaurants in the city, told us about the other Fixed Gear Coffee locations, and shared some interesting history about the building the coffee shop is located in. The iced latte was excellent as well, and the whole place is incredibly stylish, with a cool atmosphere that perfectly captures the spirit of a cycling-inspired coffee shop. Such a great experience overall — highly recommended!

Had a wonderful chilled breakfast break this morning. Coffees were excellent as well as the carrot cake. All served up by very friendly staff. This has to be one of the coolest places to visit if you are in the area. Highly recommended.

Nice shop but we had two Doppio, coffe was so sour probably underdistracted. the columbian beans even worse, not drinkable.

I came in with about 10 mins before closing. Once I began to chat with Stefan about my passion for pour over he allowed me to smell as many of the beans and provided me with a recommendation. To my surprise, he poured me a cup and allowed me to drink it while he worked on closing the place up. I also bought a bag of beans and he ground it for me. I will be coming back for more coffee and to chat about the different beans. Highly recommend this place!

Good vibes & even better coffee! Our go-to place for a decent cup of coffee, cappuccino or iced latte. The vegan bakes are also delicious. If we have time we chill on the couch, but also great for take-away. Glad to have Fixed Gear Coffee close to us.

Fixed Gear Maastricht is the ideal place to get the day started. Aside from the amazing coffees, of which they have many to try, homemade baked goods are delicious. The employees always welcome you with a warm smile, which definitely translates into the atmosphere, and the taste of the coffee. It is also the perfect place for a productive work or study day, as they have large tables specifically dedicated to that purpose. For those who simply want to enjoy coffee, there are also laptop-free tables available. My go-to place in Maastricht!!!

The coffee is good, and the place generally has a relaxed vibe. But, sometimes the staff can be unfriendly. The bathroom smells really bad and leaks into the common area, which is really gross. I’ve had to change seats because of this. Make sure to choose a seat far away from the back.

Here's a bit of a salty review incoming. I had an iced flat white, and in short: it wasn't great. The ice cubes were well ahead in the melting process upon serving (making the drink quite watery), the milk froth was as though it came from a bubble blower (yes it was that bad) and it was obvious that the espresso was bitter, probably as a result of not properly dialed in grinder and/or dirty group head (less likely). Normally I wouldn't complain like this, but when you charge 4,5 euros, it better be banging...

Fixed Gear Coffee is genuinely one of my favorite specialty coffee spots. The coffee is always amazing, with a really nice selection of beans and brewing options. The staff is always welcoming and helpfull especially when I wanted to buy some beans for home. I especially love the Superpunch on the V60, it's definitely one of my favorites. Their cakes are all made in-house, and honestly, I still haven’t found one I didn’t enjoy. They also have a second location near the train station, which is just as warm and welcoming. Overall, it's a lovely spot for coffee lovers, cake lovers, and anyone looking for a cozy place to slow down a little.

We were greeted by a very passionate coffee enjoyer who offered us a "coffee flight" to discover new bold flavors. It was an amazing experience, reccomended for everyone, coffee lover or not !

Go here every day and the coffee is always amazing! If you want good coffee and good vibes, this is the place for you. There are designated places for laptops and usually not that packed.

Service was mediocre at best. Owner called us out for having sat at a table for 'too long' and said we have to order something at least once an hour in order to stay. This was disclosed very arrogantly and forcibly. I came here once and had a different and positive experience but I expect that experience to repeat itself. Everyone can have a bad day, but don't take it out on others. Also, a bigger sign saying that you have to order every hour might be a good idea. Too bad, coffee and place was very cute !

Nice place, rustic chic, spacious with great coffee of course, lots of chill out corners, a play area for kids was a first for me, cool merchandise, delicious cakes, lots of bike stuff, to buy and browse, but above all a great bike and cafe community atmosphere.

I tried the coffee flight tasting menu here and it was a great experience. The selection of fruity filter coffees was excellent; each one had its own distinct character, and tasting them side by side really made those differences stand out. What made it even better was the barista’s detailed explanations. You could tell he was genuinely passionate and knowledgeable! If you’re into coffee (or just curious to explore beyond your usual cup), this is definitely worth trying. I’ll be back for sure! ☕️

Stumbled across this place by accident while looking for a place to study. The staff is extremely nice and easy to make conversation with!! The coffee is exceptionally good with specialty roasts. Really good prices as well!! The place is roomy but cozy. With an outdoor space as well. Smaller tables are reserved for leisure/conversation (no laptops), but there’s bigger group tables that are equipped with extension cords and are specifically there to welcome students/ coworking. It’s peak co-existing with other beautiful and kind humans. <33 I’d come back anytime!!

First time visiting Maastricht. We were served by Matías, a fantastic waiter and a great person. Thanks to him, I was able to try one of the best coffees, bitter with coffee notes. PS: The floor quality is really high.

A very solid place to grab coffee in the city. One thing I really appreciate, and something that’s quite common in the Netherlands, is their loyalty card system: after 10 coffees, you get one for free. It might seem like a small detail, but it’s genuinely great. Where I'm from, you don’t often see this outside of big franchises. For me, the coffee is easily top 3 in the city. The flavor is rich, well-balanced, and consistently well-prepared. Yes, coffee in the Netherlands is generally expensive, but within that context, the prices here feel fair. As for the pastries and breakfast options, they’re in line with what you find around the city: for €5–10 you can get something sweet and quite good. I had a cappuccino with a slice of cheesecake for around €9, which I think is a reasonable deal. The cheesecake, in particular, is exactly the kind I like: a biscuit base, chilled (not baked) style, topped with blueberry or mixed berry jam. Well-balanced and not overly heavy. The place is usually quite busy, which is a good sign, but you can normally still find a seat. There are two locations in the city, and in my opinion, the one near the town hall is the better one. Overall, definitely a place I’d come back to.

I've been going there for two years now; they have the best cappuccino I've ever had in my life!!! This place is the best for either chilling with friends, studying for exams, or reading your book in a cozy and well-decorated atmosphere. I highly recommend this café. The food is also delicious

Easily the best coffee in town, and in Limburg. Friendly and knowledgeable staff, cool atmosphere, good banana breads.

The customer service made an obnoxious impression. Two young women working there kept complaining about being stuck at this working place and kept going on about their salary compared to the wealth the owners must have accumulated. These are conversations I do not want to be hearing waiting for a beverage that should grant me a calming moment, but they seemed too lazy to bring it to my table. I was commanded to wait for my overpriced coffee. A girl with an icy, entitled, even looking-down attitude bangs a coffee on the counter, milk burned, in front of me right before what seems a manager or owner comes in. As I sit down, the two otherwise impolite, bad-mouthing employees act sweet and joking with this person that's above them and they start gossiping about other employees. This atmosphere left me with a bitter, stressed feeling. I do not recommend supporting a business with this kind of staff morale. Update: Warning for the other customers wanting to leave a review: Fixed Gears response made me interested how they treat other reviewers. I found depending on good and bad review, they will greet and give regards or act passive aggressive or rude. They do not have issues telling you don't understand good coffee and that you might prefer the taste of rubber and charcoal (review by elahe) . They will say your account is not real and want to find out your «real» identity (review by me) or share your private things like Cherubienas (review by Chreubiena S.). There are many reviews about the staff acting rude with the reponse «We're all human. Please understand it was busy» and there is an explanation for everything (review by shiyi and more). They will call your review unjust (review by Jordy) and say that you seemed fine and the chat was nice meaning the customer was not honest or a coward and make you feel guilty «feels like a slap in the face.» -Team Fixed Gear Coffee (review by chris). If you give a bad review you will be told the review is unfair (review by honrata, chris). If you round up the price on your review to show it is too expenisve for you you will be corrected for cents again meaning you're not honest (review by Fleur, cian cian). Two good things: The inside looks good and they tell customers to come and talk about the review or come to the bar to get their order examined. But some customers have no time or no energy or are scared of workers that were already rude. Fixed Gear says review must be «purely aimed at hurting our small family business». I did not like drinking my coffe there and I do not recommend it. Their answer to my review is even worse.

Genuinely one of the reasons why I choose to go to Maastricht so often. Incredible coffee, people and workplaces. The pastries are very allergen friendly and made in house by an amazing baker, would definitely recommend the detour even if you're not in the area. Fixed Gear Coffee is definitely THE spot for coffee in town. Super vegan-friendly, cozy and warm atmosphere, and the best and most versatile choice of coffee. Could not recommend enough.

Great bike café! A fairly large and very cozy place where the bike decorations, bike clothes, and tables are arranged in a somewhat haphazard way, creating a very comfortable and homey atmosphere. Very friendly service, excellent coffee, and delicious sandwiches. They also have a few Rapha products.

Great atmosphere and lots of space. Sandwich was fresh but somewhat oily and the humous watery with too much garlic.
