Genuinely one of the reasons why I choose to go to Maastricht so often. Incredible coffee, people and workplaces. The pastries are very allergen friendly and made in house by an amazing baker, would definitely recommend the detour even if you're not in the area. The customer service made an obnoxious impression. Two young women working there kept complaining about being stuck at this working place and kept going on about their salary compared to the wealth the owners must have accumulated. These are conversations I do not want to be hearing waiting for a beverage that should grant me a calming moment, but they seemed too lazy to bring it to my table. I was commanded to wait for my overpriced coffee. A girl with an icy, entitled, even looking-down attitude bangs a coffee on the counter, milk burned, in front of me right before what seems a manager or owner comes in. As I sit down, the two otherwise impolite, bad-mouthing employees act sweet and joking with this person that's above them and they start gossiping about other employees. This atmosphere left me with a bitter, stressed feeling. I do not recommend supporting a business with this kind of staff morale. Update: Warning for the other customers wanting to leave a review: Fixed Gears response made me interested how they treat other reviewers. I found depending on good and bad review, they will greet and give regards or act passive aggressive or rude. They do not have issues telling you don't understand good coffee and that you might prefer the taste of rubber and charcoal (review by elahe) . They will say your account is not real and want to find out your «real» identity (review by me) or share your private things like Cherubienas (review by Chreubiena S.). There are many reviews about the staff acting rude with the reponse «We're all human. Please understand it was busy» and there is an explanation for everything (review by shiyi and more). They will call your review unjust (review by Jordy) and say that you seemed fine and the chat was nice meaning the customer was not honest or a coward and make you feel guilty «feels like a slap in the face.» -Team Fixed Gear Coffee (review by chris). If you give a bad review you will be told the review is unfair (review by honrata, chris). If you round up the price on your review to show it is too expenisve for you you will be corrected for cents again meaning you're not honest (review by Fleur, cian cian). Two good things: The inside looks good and they tell customers to come and talk about the review or come to the bar to get their order examined. But some customers have no time or no energy or are scared of workers that were already rude. Fixed Gear says review must be «purely aimed at hurting our small family business». I did not like drinking my coffe there and I do not recommend it. Their answer to my review is even worse.

I often go at fix gear to study with friends for the vibe and the service. the people are very kind. The place is lovely!! Couldn’t recommend it more 😊

Fixed Gear Coffee is definitely THE spot for coffee in town. Super vegan-friendly, cozy and warm atmosphere, and the best and most versatile choice of coffee. Could not recommend enough.

Great bike café! A fairly large and very cozy place where the bike decorations, bike clothes, and tables are arranged in a somewhat haphazard way, creating a very comfortable and homey atmosphere. Very friendly service, excellent coffee, and delicious sandwiches. They also have a few Rapha products.

Great atmosphere and lots of space. Sandwich was fresh but somewhat oily and the humous watery with too much garlic.

The people there are sweet, and the food is tasty n_n They make a great flat white!

Really nice place. The people are friendly, the coffee is excellent and the cookies are even better. What I liked most though is the atmosphere: lots of space, hardly any laptops taking up tables, and it just feels like somewhere you actually want to sit and spend time. A proper gem in Maastricht.

I started going to this place, because I had a date there. While the date didn't stick around, this place sure did! Love the atmosphere, the cakes and the coffee. The Americano, specifically the Brazil has my heart <3 On top of that, the staff is absolutely wonderful and it makes me happy to see them every time.

This café is simply a key part of Maastricht’s heart and life. Their quality of service, the range of vegan cakes offered, and the cool vibes turned this place super fast into my HQ. Their passion and expertise about coffee impressed me and made me want to learn more about it! Try their Pour Over! They have such a wide range of choice ☕️ Friendly staff team, always happy to see you and willing to help you the best way they can. This has truly become my favorite coffee spot. I come here all the time I know the coffee, the sweet treats, basically everything, and it never disappoints. The place is incredibly cool and alternative in the best way, something you don’t find everywhere. The staff is amazing, so kind and welcoming, it really feels like home. The sweets are light, healthy, and delicious (never heavy), and the yogurt bowl is a must I always get it. Small warning though: there are two different coffees here… and whatever you do, don’t say they’re the same. Trust me!!!

A very cozy cafe with a relaxing atmosphere. The coffee is always great quality (even if it seems a bit stronger than most other places), and the snacks are fantastic. The vegan cookies are absolutely delicious. The staff are friendly, welcoming, and make you feel right at home. There are tables available for people wanting to work or study, and plenty of tables for those that want to just have a coffee with friends, or read. I can definitely recommend this place!

Quality price range is way overrated. 5 euro’s for 1 Latte is a high price. while served coffee and Milk where not HOT, the waiter put a spoon just along the glass on a table. For 5 euro’s I expect a perfect coffee latte on a plate with spoon and a mini cake or chocolate next to it. While sharing my feedback in the coffee shop he only listened and did not respond at all….

Coffee and cycling, what more could you ask for? I enjoyed my cappuccino and a snack. The staff and owners are enthusiastic and always up for a chat. Despite the large building, it feels cozy and inviting. An added bonus is that there are tables where you can open your laptop, but also places where it's not appreciated. Students, coffee drinkers, and cycling enthusiasts are served. In short, the place where I start my morning ride.

This is a gem, if you are looking for a place to work and study. The coffee is nice, the staff is very friendly. My only improvement suggestion to polish this gem would be to improve the internet. Also, if you are easily distracted, bring along a good noise canceling headphones, it’s quite popular with students. There are also places that laptop is not allowed, which is great if you just want to hang out. One downside: The internet doesn’t work anymore and there is no signal to use the phone’s internet. So I reduced 2 stars for this! Update: I love the customer-centric approach in this amazing. The owner had a chat with me and explained how they have been struggling and how hard they have worked on fixing the issue. I worked today from the coffee shop and the internet has improved. I giving the 5 star back and continuing working from there ❤️

Fixed Gear is honestly my favorite café in town! The coffee here is unbeatable, every cup tastes amazing, and you can tell they really care about what they’re doing. If you’re not into coffee they also have matcha and delicious chai latte! The vibe in this place is awesome too. It’s super chill and welcoming, the kind of spot where you can hang out with friends, get some work done, or just relax for a bit. The employees are always so friendly and make you feel right at home, which really adds to the experience. And to top it all off, they sometimes have their two beautiful dogs there! They’re the sweetest and honestly make the café feel even more special. If you haven’t been to Fixed Gear yet, you’re missing out…

I used to really like this place. I wrote a lot of my essays here. Sadly it changed a lot the last years. The quality got worse, the products more expensive. The atmosphere changed a lot sadly, employees seem a lot more stressed. I personally felt uncomfortable due to comments made by one of the owners that I experienced as sexually inappropriate. I personally find it uncomfortable how the business seems to shift its political messaging depending on what appears profitable. Last time I tried to express my very Honest review of MY experience it is portrait as a smear campaign, and I got an email with threads, which is just sad. I am shocked. I have regrettably spend a lot of money here and many many hours of my life. I will never come back. (Ps: the fact that you try to sue everyone who offers you genuine criticism to reflect on is quite silly) No this is not a personal attack, as a once loyal customer this is my honest opinion and review of your business. PS 2.0. How you treat your employees and the negative relationships resulting from it seems to be a private issue that has nothing to do with me and my experience. I have been a regular customer for many years, and I am shocked, disappointed and disgusted with how my experience here has changed over the years and what this place has become.

Coffee before cycling, as they say. A great coffee bar for cycling and coffee lovers. Don't bother parking your bike in the overcrowded street parking garage; you can safely park it inside. Be sure to try the delicious vegan pastries and buy a nice cycling outfit as a souvenir.

bitter coffee and even the employees seemed a bit confused at the 'card table' assignment situation edit: I'm sorry to tell you but your coffee is simply bitter or not prepared correctly (which i doubt to be the case). I've since tried it again and had the same experience, in speaking to other people they've also had bitter coffee here. This experience and response is especially disappointing from a cafe that puts such an emphasis on their fancy beans. I would suggest listening to customers instead of condescendingly trying to explain why your coffee 'can't be bitter'.

Stopping by Maastricht and came across this lovely coffee. Honestly some of the best coffee Ive ever had. The pour over, espresso, and coldbrew were unbelievably tasty (and realllllly strong).

We stopped here during our bike ride through Maastricht and it was the perfect break. The staff is incredibly friendly and welcoming, which really adds to the warm atmosphere. The place has a cozy vibe, perfect for relaxing before hitting the road again. Coffee and drinks were excellent — full of flavor and nicely prepared. Definitely worth a visit if you’re cycling through the area!

If you're passing through Maastricht by bike, this is a must stop. I turned up covered in mud from the ride, standing outside in the pouring rain and wondering where I was going to safely leave my bike since all the stands were full. Before I could even go to find a lampost etc, the owner came to the door and ushered me in and telling me to bring my filthy bike inside with me to the stands next to their workshop. His colleague then met me with a towel and let me know that anything I needed for my trip I should just ask. It was such a nice surprise to find that this place was lively and it was a relief to have shelter from the rain. The cake I had was fantastic, as was the smoothie and oat milk cortado. The service from those working behind the bar was also very friendly and helpful. They have a fantastic work station with plenty of plugs for laptops and the bicycle store (clothing and accessories mostly) has a really nice selection. I left feeling recharged and really well looked after when I thought all I was going to get was a coffee! I'll be back whenever I'm in Maastricht.

A place specializing in coffees from some of Europe’s top roasters. It offers great quality at a fair price. If you’re into bikes and cycling culture, this is definitely your spot some of the bikes are even used for daily work. I ordered a flay pack pour over with three coffees from different origins and varieties. (V-60) The barista who served me was excellent friendly and attentive. I’ll definitely be back. Also, don’t miss the delicious pastries made in-house. Vegan, Highly recommend the carrot cake.

Incredible staff, the owners are extremely knowledgeable, they put their heart and soul into everything they provide. Best apple cake ever. I buy my beans here too and Brian will always tell you which bean to use for the best V60. My first stop in Maastricht every time.
