The food was alright, but we had to wait a good 40 minutes for our takeaway. The server was working alone and barely spoke English. She took the change out of her purse and they were out of chicken… All in all, quite unprofessional…

The food takes way too long to be ready, the burger tastes stale and so does the bread, and there's no sauce with it either. And just a tiny bit of sauce with the fries too. Nasty fries 🤮

Good fries, but quite expensive

We ordered 2 portions of 'patatjes oorlog' with onions. The onions were frozen, so we took them off, and the fairly small portion of fries was lukewarm and not really crispy, and cost more than 5 euros per portion.

Worst experience in Amsterdam. A complete tourist trap with shocking staff behavior. Amsterdam has its fair share of tourist traps, but this place takes the prize. Looking at the high ratings online, there must either be a massive number of fake reviews connected to this restaurant, or the quality and service have severely deteriorated of late. Its actually a shame, as I enjoyed food and service in here on my first visit. I ordered a bacon cheeseburger menu and a standalone burger. When I got home, I realized BOTH burgers completely lacked the primary beef patties—they were literally just bacon, cheese, and a bit of salad wrapped directly in standard, cheap household paper towels. I initially ate the first one out of sheer starvation after walking home, but then decided to walk all the way back to show them the mistake on the second one. The female worker behind the counter flat-out refused to take accountability. She bizarrely claimed that their burgers "normally come without a beef patty" and that "no one has ever complained before." When I pointed out that a burger requires a meat patty, she went into a tense, continuous rant about how expensive her shop rent is, and then started making vague, intimidating hints that her boyfriend would be back soon and wouldn't be happy with me. She offered to remake it, but after seeing her use a condiment spatula heavily coated in old, hardened, crusty mayonnaise during my first visit, I refused out of obvious food safety concerns. The situation escalated when another customer walked in. I asked him if a bacon cheeseburger should have a beef patty, and he obviously agreed it should. At that point, the worker lost her temper and began badmouthing and insulting me in Dutch. I left with no replacement food and no refund. Unprofessional, unhygienic, and outright hostile. Avoid at all costs.

Super frites with a large selection of sauces to compliment them. We had the truffle mayo with Parmesan and it was delicious. A cheeky little cheese croquet slipped onto my tray too and it was flavoured with nutmeg, very good.

In the bacon burger there is also the burger, not just the (cold) bacon, damn it

2 fries with mayo 1 chicken corn dog 1 bami disc Inedible!!!! We are brushing our teeth right now. We swallowed a mouthful of frying oil. Everything tasted like old, dirty, poorly maintained oil. And it is overpriced. The woman who served us wasn't very familiar with the fry shop either. It looked like it was her first time. I am never coming here again.

The fries were brown but not crispy. Tasted like old oil. The onions were also glassy and tasted sour. Unfortunately, not worth repeating. None of us three liked it and we threw our fries away.

Honestly ? I don’t recommend… So here is my order (in the receipt at least): 2x Draadjesvlees croquet 1x Kaas croquet I received 2x the cheese and one time the meat one… After that honestly the cheese one was ok but the meat one ? Hell nah there is absolutely no meat inside. I don’t wanna know what crap they put inside it was like a brown sauce. And paying €12,60 for 3 Extremely small pieces is clearly overpriced. And while ordering I asked for fries that I didn’t received and not even in the receipt. Really disappointed 😔

What was once a 4-star experience has now dropped to 1 star. Who in God's name cuts their nails near a cutting board *and* the deep fryer? This is unacceptable. I will never come back here. If the owner reads this: the person in question was there on March 1st at 18:30 — just take a good look at the camera footage around 19:15.

Finally a snackbar that doesn’t blindly put cheese snacks under vegetarian (since they often aren’t, cheese usually contain rennet ) and I can’t applaud them enough 🙌🏼👏🏼

These fries were a disappointment compared to many other fries in Amsterdam; they were nothing special, not even the sauces offered.

I paid €30 for the food pictured – unbelievable! They fried things one after the other, so the fries were ready later. It was okay in itself – but I won't be back.

This is the worst experience I have ever had, the guy kept forgetting everything and had to ask 5 times what we had, forgot ours sauce after asking for it 5 times… and also he forgot half the order and demanded we’d pay again. he is just under the influence and not qualified to be after the counter… I never leave reviews but I have never in my life had such a bad experience at a SNACKBAR. To the guy with the cream beany with the dark blue stripe, I hope you get beter (this was at 28th of feb 2026

The burgers and fries here were delicious and reasonably priced. The owner was friendly and made my husband and I feel very welcome. Highly recommend this place for anyone looking for some tasty burgers and fries.

This snack bar was extremely disappointing. I had to wait over 30 minutes for a small order (family-sized portion of fries, Oorlogsaus (war sauce), three croquettes, and a special frikandel). After paying €36 (!), the rolls were gone—quite remarkable for a snack bar—and when I got home, the frikandel was completely missing from the order. I had to drive back another 15 minutes for this. Furthermore, the fries were extremely salty, and the croquettes were cold inside, making them inedible for the children. Truly amateurish!

Had dinner here in the evening. It was quiet, probably because it was pouring rain and thunder at the time. I thought I'd have a quiet meal, but the new owner, a young guy, talks my ear off. He shares some interesting information, but you have to be in the mood to listen. The owner was kind enough to hang up my wet jacket so it could dry properly. When I was about to write this review, I read that they ranked 3rd in the MokumMagazine fries test 2025. I can understand why. The truffle mayonnaise was delicious. The fries with the skins on could have been fried better. Some of the pieces were limp and raw on the inside. All in all, not entirely dissatisfied. But there's room for improvement.

We stumbled into this place for a snack. Just had the fries which were hand cut and fried in front of us. The owner Ian was wonderful to visit with and had lots of suggestions for other places to visit and see during our stay.

A nice little shop with delicious fries and very friendly service. All snacks are halal. The veal/beef croquette was much tastier than those floury things sold as beef croquettes at other places.

Not the most hygienic place. Guy was coughing all over the place why holding my fries. Coughing in his hand and used that same to grab a fork and stuck it in my fries then handed it to me.

I can understand why this place isnt viral 😛 for one of the reasons, I was the second customer in line and still waited for 15 minutes to get one portion of fries. But during thosw 15 minutes I got to observe the man touching all the food with his bare hands while coughing. Then I finally got the fries and I would say they taste pretty average. Also he charged me more than what was written on the menu.

It's not a home made fries that for sure because the fries are frozen in the freezer for long 🙃 some are even expired,Also like the beautiful sauces arrange, please note that the mayonnaise, curry,and ketchup sauce the silver containers are not wash for a year or more and they keep on refilling it ,honestly because the sate sauce the containers are very dirty not washed for almost a year too and so of some of the snacks are expired in the fridge but the boss allow workers to sell it ,the place looks new but very dirty with unhygienic surroundings when you watch around carefully. Serving plates and other angles , are very dusty ,the oil for this fries are changed twice only in a year this caused myself and family to be sick for a months so I will advise the Netherlands food and drugs board to go and immediately check the foods being sold for customers because all are stored in freezer and some are expired too ,thanks I have worked there too and I know what I am saying public please go to the next joint thier Dutch snack bar it's better than the Turkish man here frites and frites ,here you might pay for your sickness tourist please avoid eating snacks here for you own good ,try check the sate sauce port when buying and all fries are in the freezer stored, I remember selling expired food for customer for 3 weeks and after the boss didn't pay me my salary too but it's all well ,public avoid snacks eaten there please.A word to a wise is enough 😀
