The best in Amersfoort! Also try the game croquette. And a free croquette on your birthday, too. It is wonderful to see how this establishment has been positively contributing to society for years. From local artists for the interior to a harvest festival for the little ones at the petting zoo where you can see your own homegrown potato being turned into fries.

I would have preferred to post a good review...it used to be delicious. Had a small bag of fries. Thrown half of it away. Didn't look like fries. Cardboard, hard and chewy. Very unfriendly staff.

Ridiculously rude staff. Walks around the kitchen without hairnets even though they are both fluffy. Takes orders they can't make. Then adopts a defiant attitude when you say something about it. Doesn't want to take responsibility for their own mistakes and then puts a supervisor on the phone for me, who agrees with me. Things have gone downhill fast here over the years.

In itself, there is little wrong with the food. You get fresh fries, including the skin. During this process, 25% isn't really edible and you throw that away. But what disappointed me was that there is no price list. Above the counter. (That's what you look at when you're picking something out.) So, as you might guess, everything is quite pricey. The homemade bami disc is fine, but it is very small. Also, you cannot pay with cash. It is mandatory to indicate VERY clearly that you can only pay by card. That is not the case here. Soon, with new legislation, it will become mandatory to accept cash again. I didn't have a debit card, so I had to borrow one from an acquaintance. So, it is quite disappointing.

Disappointing, worse fries than the local snack bar and quite expensive. Salty, greasy, overcooked fries. Mayo is tasty, but that's all.

An institution for a reason. Top-notch fries without snacks. It might cost a bit, but you get what you pay for. With Patates on Eemplein, the best fry shop in the city.

After I had ordered fries for us and my granddaughter, I saw the employee place a large container (a colander) on the counter full of fried fries. After about 5 minutes, she walked to the fryer and emptied the colander into it. When I asked why she did that, the manager/owner came walking over nervously. He asked me, slightly irritated, what the problem was, walked over to the employee, whispered something to her, and told me that this was a mistake and she wasn't allowed to do that! I could sense that this was standard practice. Just the fact that he blamed a young employee for this... I said that I wanted my money back. To which he replied that this wasn't possible (no cash). I was given a dirty, greasy piece of paper from a torn bag with a pen on which I was allowed to write down my account number, and I was told I would get a refund for my expensive fries. To this day, that hasn't happened...

A small snack bar specializing mainly in takeaway food. The selection of sauces was excellent, offering something for everyone. The fries were freshly prepared and cooked to perfection. The portion size was also generous, making it good value for money. Overall, a successful visit – I would definitely come back again.

Just ate a large portion of fries during my break. With mayonnaise. Paid €6, but it was absolutely worthless! Way too salty, way too dry/overcooked. The mayonnaise was quite sour. They weren't stingy with the sauce; two small bowls were included. But this was definitely the last time..

Last Saturday, we were served by 3 friendly guys. We had a very tasty meal on-site. We were served quickly, and afterwards we had a pleasant chat with two of the guys. A great experience and highly recommended!

Very crispy fries, definitely recommend

I regularly go to Van Gogh and am usually very satisfied. This was the first time I ordered the stew. The taste was truly excellent—exactly what you'd expect stew to taste like. However, the quantity was a huge disappointment. It comes in a container the size of a mayo container, and there's far more sauce than meat in it. With a container of stew, you expect a normal portion, like at other chip shops. The fries themselves were delicious, as always, but because of the small amount of stew, I wouldn't order it again. It's a shame, because the flavor is definitely there.

Did you eat fries with peanut mayo for lunch? Or are they fries with peanut/mayo? It doesn't matter here; they're called fries with fries. The fries are hand-cut and of good quality. We sat outside in front of the restaurant, which was possible because it was dry. The peanut sauce was delicious.

I thought they were very expensive. - But what was most disappointing were the fries. Lots of small, hard pieces, very greasy. I ended up throwing half of them away. A waste of money. I won't be buying fries from Van Gogh again anytime soon.

Excellent potato sticks bathed in a golden crust. The meat croquettes and cheese assoufle were also very good! Nice guys behind the counter. Extensive for a snack, but still good.

We ordered fries, but they were absolutely tasteless and saltless. The mayo was also awful. I won't be coming back.

Fries was oily and the mayo not tasty at all

Geweldig lekkere frites en een supergoeie, huisgemaakte groentekroket. Dit is zoveel beter dan de standaard snackbars... Alles vers gesneden en gemaakt en dat proef je. Ook nog eens aardige mensen. Oh ja, de huisgemaakte chips zijn ook waanzinnig lekker. Uitstekende prijs-kwaliteitsverhouding. Ik kom hier zeker terug.

Early in the evening, July 12th, I got two small fries with Flemish mayonnaise. It was very busy. Behind the counter, they were working hard to help customers as efficiently as possible. In this hectic atmosphere, it's dangerous to throw too many fries in the oil at once. This causes the oil to cool quickly, preventing the fries from searing and becoming crispy, but instead soaking up the oil. This compromises the quality and the overall experience. Beware of this risk!

A very nice and pleasant shop with simple but delicious food. I always enjoy looking at the wall while I order. It is always full of interesting posters and slogans. It is often busy because they simply have a good product. You would think that nothing more needs to be done about that, but they do. Because for me this experience is unbeatable, the potatoes are freshly cut in front of you, from which they make delicious fries with skin. The snacks are also delicious. The staff is always cheerful and the owner is also a real host! For me it is always a pleasure to go to this or the Van Gogh at the Koppelpoort.

Een kleine friet met mayonaise voor 4.15.... Het lijkt wel of de aardappels van goud zijn. De prijzen kon ik niet vinden op de borden . dat snap ik nu. De friet was redelijk maar voor ons nooit meer.

These were by far the best fries I have ever eaten. Price-performance is top. The staff was also very friendly. Great selection. There are also seats in the snack bar and in front of it, otherwise there are more seats a little further on.

The fries were delicious, and while not the very best we've ever eaten, they're definitely in our top 5. It was quite busy, but the order was prepared remarkably quickly. Finding a place to sit was a bit of a challenge. The price was not low, but not exceptional either. Furthermore, the staff was friendly and attentive, which certainly enhanced the experience.

Nasty cheese soufflé. Nice that it is homemade, too bad that it is very dirty. Fatty, slightly sour, dirty cheese. Fries are okay, lots of small pieces, but very sparing with sauce. Another customer asked if something else could be added, so I'm not the only one. Very disappointing.

Tot op de dag van vandaag nogsteeds de lekkerste patat die ik ooit gegeten heb. Gewoon avnuit de zak met een bult saus, of op de fiets mee naar huis. Waar ik van achterover sloeg waren de vega bamischijf en de kaassouffle. Ik weet niet wat ze met dat krokante jasje doen, naar ik keur het goed.

After hearing a lot of good things about van gogh frietenhuis... "Best fries in Amersfoort" Finally our friends brought us to get the famous "zak patat". This was sooo bad. The fries were tough and chewy. I am sure it was re-fried and the fries were for sure 3 or more days old. So from the frying pan to the garbage bin.. disappointing!!!
