Gastrobar Wendy in Wijk 00 Rijen

Yesterday afternoon we had lunch here with friends who live in Rijen. It was absolutely fantastic! As soon as we arrived, we were warmly welcomed by a waiter who escorted us to our seats on the terrace (we had reservations). Our drink orders were taken, and literally two minutes later, his female colleague was with us with our order. We indicated that we needed a moment to look at the lunch menu. That was no problem at all. A little later, we placed our order, and once again, it was ready very quickly. All five of us loved what we ordered. During our lunch, they repeatedly pointed out when we needed more drinks, and they were brought to our table quickly. This, despite the terrace being quite busy. And, importantly, this always happened with a big smile and a very friendly service. The prices are competitive: not cheap, but not expensive either. Do you get your money's worth? Absolutely! In short: highly recommended!

Gistermiddag hebben we met vrienden die in Rijen wonen, hier geluncht. Het was werkelijk top! Meteen toen we aankwamen werden we al vriendelijk welkom geheten door een serveerder die ons naar onze plaatsen op het terras begeleidde (we hadden gereserveerd). Onze drankjes werden opgenomen, en letterlijk echt twéé minuten later stond zijn vrouwelijke collega al bij ons met onze bestelling. We gaven aan dat we even tijd nodig hadden om de lunchkaart te bekijken. Dat was geen enkel probleem. Even later gaven we onze bestelling door en ook nu weer was die echt snel klaar. Alle vijf vonden we datgene wat we hadden besteld, heerlijk. Tijdens onze lunch werd steeds ruim op tijd gesignaleerd wanneer we behoefte hadden aan nieuwe drankjes en stonden deze snel op onze tafel. En dat terwijl het toch best druk was op het terras. En, niet onbelangrijk, dat gebeurde steeds met een big smile en hartstikke vriendelijk. De prijzen zijn marktconform: niet goedkoop, maar ook niet duur. Krijg je waar voor je geld? Jazéker!! Kortom: een échte aanrader!

When I made my reservation, I requested a quiet spot, and it was perfectly arranged. The service was extremely attentive and friendly, and the atmosphere was cozy and relaxed. The food was too generous for our liking, but it was delicious. My 98-year-old mother loved it! eGastrobar Wendy is a place to return to...

Cozy place. I regularly have (vegan) lunch there and even a vegan high tea. They go the extra mile, thinking along with customers and their needs and then knowing how to accommodate them. They're open to suggestions :) The food is delicious, the atmosphere is great. We love coming here. Definitely also for the coffee and my favorite: homemade iced tea.

They even had blankets for the kids to play on. Nothing was too much trouble! They embrace you as if you were visiting family! We had a great experience. Echt een fantastische ervaring gehad hier! Voor ons partnerschap hadden we op maandag de zaak voor onszelf. Wendy en haar man hebben ons zo geweldig verzorgd! Met alles was rekening gehouden. Ze hadden zelfs kleedjes voor de Kids om op te spelen. Echt werkelijk niks was te veel! Ze omarmen je alsof je bij familie thuis komt! We hebben een top ervaring gehad. Nogmaals heel erg bedankt voor de fantastische High Tea en natuurlijk tot snel weer! X

Fantastic food and staff! Cozy area outside, even with coaches. Very nice selection of non-alcoholic beers. We had a few, and also some lovely milkshakes, toasts and burgers. All delicious! Make sure to take note of the closing times as these may be earlier than you might expect for such a nice place.

Gezellige sfeer, de bediening is goed. Het eten is erg lekker. De eigenaarse Monique is erg vriendelijk en je ziet dat ze met passie de zaak runt.

Hele leuke zaak! Vriendelijk personeel en je kan er heerlijk en uitgebreid eten. Wij hebben de high tea gedaan en deze is zeker een aanrader.

What friendly people work here. Yesterday we organized a baby shower at Gastrobar Wendy. In advance and during a nice consultation about the possibilities. The high tea tasted very good and was sufficient in quantity. What was left over could be taken home. The place where we sat was nicely decorated. Definitely recommended to organize a baby shower! The free parking in the area is also nice.

Nadat wij getrouwd zijn hebben wij deze bijzondere dag gezamenlijk afgesloten bij Gastrobar Wendy waar we onze taart aangesneden hebben onder het genot van 'de beste' koffietjes!! Er was versiering en een héle fijne sfeer! Dank jullie wel!

Enjoyed the (vegan) high tea and the lovely terrace. There is nothing to complain about the service and atmosphere. The vegan high tea offering may be made more special in the future, but the fact that this variant is offered is a bonus.

We hebben met een groep van 17 personen genoten van een heel goed verzorgde high tea. We kwamen werkelijk waar niets te kort. Zeker voor herhaling vatbaar!!!!

Bij binnenkomst word je vriendelijk ontvangen. Het personeel is onwijs vriendelijk. De koffie is heerlijk en het softijs valt ook enorm in de smaak. Je hebt voldoende plaats km te zitten, wat ook erg fijn is.

We had to wait 50 minutes for our lunch, it was said that everything is made fresh, yes, but croquettes still have to be baked, which is a shame. I had brought visitors from The Hague for lunch. I'm very honest, I won't do it again anytime soon. It was very busy now, everything was busy on Friday, but it wasn't.

We had the High Tea here. Tasty dishes although without the traditional scones. But the other things on the tower made up for a lot. The teas were also tasty and we could even get other flavors upon request (they had made a pre-selection because not all flavors fit on the tea tray). Nice and friendly staff!

Samen met vriendinnen genoten van een High Tea! Naast dat het eten heerlijk was was de service top! Er werd speciaal een glutenvrije versie gemaakt en ook qua eten werd rekening gehouden met een zwangere. Ze hadden binnen een plaatsje gereserveerd voor ons maar we wilden liever buiten zitten… geen enkel probleem. We mochten een tafeltje uit zoeken buiten en alles werd voor ons verplaatst. Zelfs toen we vroegen of ze toevallig zonnebrand hadden werden we op onze wenken bediend ! ECHT een aanrader!!!

Even relaxen, begin van de dag of juist het eind van de dag. Even een koffie met wat lekkers of juist een biertje van de tap. Alles kan en de sfeer is goed.

Heerlijk geluncht met een broodje Cas & Kas (vega) kroketten. Mega goede koffie, ook haver- amandel en sojamelk beschikbaar!

Very good coffee, great sandwiches and great atmosphere! I loved the “kroket”, a typical Dutch snack on a burgerbun. Service is very nice and kind and always willing to help and make changes to the dishes when needed.

In a word AMAZING AGAIN 🤩 Everything was perfectly arranged! We came to dinner with 14 people. We enjoyed delicious snacks upon arrival. Then a tomato soup. As a main course we all had lasagna with a delicious salad and for dessert a delicious tiramisu! Delicious food. We were even allowed to take the dog inside

Had a lovely relaxing lunch with 16 people. Tasty, filling lunch dishes and special coffees. Wendy was alone in the kitchen and managed to serve almost all of us at once. Nice atmosphere and friendly!

We had a delicious high tea, and the service was truly excellent. These are people who truly have a passion for hospitality. The warm and personal welcome made us feel right at home. The price-quality ratio is also very good. If I had to mention one area for improvement, it would be the savory/sweet ratio at the high tea (it's currently quite sweet). But that's just a matter of personal taste. We'll definitely be back!

A great addition to Rijen. The quality is good. Could use a wider selection of coffee and cookies, but it's a great place!

Wij hebben een bijzondere high tea georganiseerd, met 16 personen een kerstviering bij ons thuis, in de de gastrobox zat heel veel, hartige lekkernijen tot taart en chocolade zelfs vers fruit en een heerlijke soep, we hadden 3 specifieke allergieën,die hadden een aangepast menu het was heerlijk, we komen zeker nog eens terug, dit alles was ook kompleet met servies verse thee en etagères, er was voldoende voor iedereen, met dank aan Gastrobar Wendy. Great birthday celebration for my mother. 85 years is a special age. Reserved a table with 8 people and had the opportunity to decorate a bit, the service also dressed up a bit festive. Very friendly help and she enjoyed it. Delicious coffee, cappucino, etc. and freshly made cakes in various flavors. And some fireworks. Great! Ik raad u deze plek niet aan daar wij met z’n tweetjes een lunch hadden besteld. T.w. een tosti Asian en een broodje hete kip ! Met daar bij 2 kopjes koffie. Er werd eerst gevraagd of wij melk bij de koffie wilde. Dit zat in een klein kannetje. Bij het inschenken van de melk ging er meer melk naast de koffie dan in de koffie. Dit kwam door het onhandige kannetje. Toen wij de lunch kregen geserveerd, zag ik tot mijn verbazing dat het broodje hete kip eruit zag als een broodje met kipsaté. Mijn partner kreeg een tost Asian wat ok eruit zag als een tosti kipsaté. De “hete” kip was helemaal niet heet of pittig en proefde zelfs zoet. Op deze “hete” kip zat zowel pindasaus als zoetzure saus. De tosti had dezelfde ingrediënten als het broodje “hete” kip. Ik heb de bediening hierover aangesproken en ze stonden eigenlijk met hun bek vol tanden en wisten hier géén antwoord op te geven. Na mijn opmerking over zowel de melk als over de lunch van ons beiden, kreeg ik een kortingsbon aangereikt van 25% voor de eerst volgende bestelling. Ik heb deze niet geaccepteerd en hen verteld dat ik een recensie zou schrijven op TripAdvisor. Voor mij is dit etablissement niet voor herhaling vatbaar ook gezien de prijs kwaliteit verhouding.

I ordered a meringue with my coffee, but there was no meringue to be found, just a big bubble and a very greasy buttercream on top. I complained, and they offered me a bonbon to soften it. However, I had to pay a hefty price for this bonbon as well. I'm not going to see it again for a while.

Yesterday we celebrated a great birthday at Gastrobar Wendy. The entire evening was taken care of down to the last detail with snacks and drinks. All our 50 guests enjoyed themselves immensely and were served according to their wishes. From coffee to special cocktails nothing was too much to ask. Many thanks Wendy, Sander and staff.
