Lunch was delicious, and we also ate there in the evening. The food was delicious. Good and friendly service.

We wanted to sit comfortably on a terrace and order a carafe of sangria. The website stated €22+, and we assumed a margin of €5.00. In hindsight, it turned out to be more than double... €45 for a carafe. We were not informed of this price either, and were even advised to order two. We discovered this price when we wanted to pay; while checking with a colleague, it was pointed out that the strawberries had become more expensive. It is a shame that fair and clear prices are not displayed and that you come up with these kinds of surprises.

When we are in the area, we love going for lunch at De Twee Wezen. There is a wide selection on the menu and the food is always delicious. A lovely place we enjoy coming back to!

A lovely, large restaurant in the heart of Hengelo. We only had a drink and carpaccio. The carpaccio was absolutely delicious 😋 There's a playground and a water feature right next door. Perfect for families with children.

The ordered Cola and Cola Zero both came from large bottles. The bottles of both colas are probably not screwed shut properly, resulting in flat cola. 2 flat colas for € 6.80 is really very expensive.

Recently beautifully renovated, you can now enjoy sitting both indoors and outdoors. Outside under a good canopy or parasols, in or out of the sun. And of course, the food is perfect for a reasonable price.

Delicious soup, after Eating and Cycling.

The lemon sorbet was very bad and they refused to accept our gift card, even though it was less than 2 years old. The fact that they have a new system is not a valid reason to refuse the card.

For the umpteenth time, I have to chase after my order myself because it just isn't arriving. It is something simple, mind you—a cup of coffee—but even that seems too much to ask. There is a complete lack of communication, and as a customer, you have to figure out where your order is every time. This is truly below par and not customer-friendly at all.

Worthless place. Had to pay 2 euros by card just to use the toilet during the Night of Hengelo. So I'm never coming back. 👍

It is bizarre what prices they dare to charge. Prices aren't on the menu, so they don't have to reprint them every time there's a price increase. I had a Tripel beer, €8.55 for a bottle that you can buy for €3 in the supermarket. The Grand Dessert consisted of 2 scoops of ice cream and 2 mini cakes/tarts. We thought it might be a selection of desserts from the menu. A waste of money.

We thought we'd give it a try after the renovation to see if it was better than previous experiences. Unfortunately, we were sorely disappointed. No atmosphere, no motivated staff, no attention. First, we waited 15 minutes before someone came to the table to ask if we wanted anything, this after someone had walked past 4 times and seen that we were new. Anyway, we ordered food and drinks. A little later, the waitress came back to ask if we wanted bread on the house; the answer was yes, and it arrived quickly with a slam on the table. But still no drinks. The drinks eventually arrived, and a minute later, the food. But we didn't have any cutlery yet. We received cutlery and wanted to start eating; after the first bite, someone came and snatched the food right from under our noses—apparently it wasn't meant for us. This included the cutlery. A little later, we apparently did receive our ordered food, which was the same as what had been taken away.🙃 We ate it all up in amazement, but the food was tasteless. The fried potatoes were very greasy, just like the schnitzel. So, once is enough, never again.

Had a high tea last Sunday; lots of chocolate and few other snacks. Friendly waiter who served us, but the other one, what a nasty little man. Besides that, 12 euros more was charged than it was (my daughter found out later) for what we received; I think the price/quality ratio is too high. No more high tea for me here. Would I recommend them? No.

They are so helpful when you have allergies. At some places, they come with an allergy menu and just say "this is it," leaving you with two dishes you can eat. At De Twee Wezen, the first question was "what are you in the mood for?" and they worked with you to figure out how to make it so you could eat it. Really great!

The food was okay; the waiter came by often to ask if everything was to our liking. The downside was the meat, which unfortunately wasn't prepared as desired. Otherwise, it's a fine, atmospheric place to dine.

After avoiding this place for years, my friends and I decided to give it another try in December, and I regretted it immediately. The female employee with the ponytail and grumpy face who served us didn't seem able to handle the crowds and clearly took it out on the customers. When I mentioned that my cappuccino was very weak and tasted mainly of milk, I asked if I could get a coffee. The response I received was anything but customer-friendly: “That’s your taste; we just use coffee from the machine.” There was no understanding or apology whatsoever. The replacement coffee only arrived after I had to ask for it again. If you value good service, customer friendliness, and a decent cup of coffee, I would skip this place and go sit across the street.

Nice place to sit! The nacho tasting was also very tasty. Unfortunately, however, there were several mistakes... out of stock, wrong order, double payment; that could be improved!

It was very crowded, but we were still served regularly. The food arrived very quickly. All the staff were very friendly. They were playing great music, and there was a live DJ. I really enjoyed it. The food was excellent and very reasonably priced. I will definitely come back again; it's definitely worth a visit. I'd also like to mention that even though the restaurant was very busy, we didn't have to wait long to be served, and the staff were attentive to our needs.

I've never experienced such a terrible restaurant as the two orphans in Hengelo. They dare to charge over €15 for kibbeling and fries, and then you get frozen fish cubes instead. The club sandwich is as if I made my own sandwich. Furthermore, the staff is completely disinterested and unfriendly. You're ignored even if you try repeatedly to order or pay.

It's a shame that when you order a brie sandwich, you get a dry baguette with brie and lettuce. And when you order a cheesecake, it's soggy and tastes awful. Such a shame.

Restaurant with a covered and heated terrace. The food is excellent. The interior is also cozy. It's a nice place to sit down for a bite to eat or a drink while shopping!

Ordered two cocktails. One arrived, and they forgot the other, which didn't arrive until 15 minutes later. The cocktail tasted like overly sweet orange juice and tons of sugar. There was no alcohol. I mentioned this twice, but they couldn't do anything about it. I was here last week and ordered chicken nachos. The nachos had a whole blob of tomato sauce on them. It tasted like the kind you put on spaghetti. Absolutely awful.

The food is good. The seating is comfortable. The service is okay.

The sandwiches are tasty, huge, and worthy of lunch. The lunch menu is very diverse and has something for everyone. The beer list is extensive. Friendly, entertaining service. Find a cozy spot yourself. It wouldn't hurt to make a reservation on the weekend.

The waiters weren't interested in service. You have to call them over, even though they're a meter away and don't see that you want to order. Then the food is placed there listlessly, and you don't even get a napkin with your toast. This can happen when things are hectic, but not when there are only two guests.

The food was delicious! The waitress was friendly and helpful, as we were also attending a theater performance. We'll definitely be back when we're ever near Hengelo.

The food was fine, good. I thought it was a bit overpriced for the quantity and quality, hence not five stars. The service is good when it's quiet, but not so good when it gets busier; then they don't notice if your glasses have been empty for a while, and you have to confront the staff. I like the atmosphere, and they also broadcast live football on screens. One major drawback: we arrived just after opening time, and the tables and chairs we sat on were dirty! So they hadn't been properly cleaned the night before.

Nice place, but the service is a bit clumsy and lacking in expertise. They don't see empty plates or glasses, and they don't look around for people asking questions. They're on autopilot. They also don't know much about the menu. As soon as you start asking questions, they get lost. This could use more attention in terms of instructions.

Excellent food, beautiful location, nice decor. There's an outdoor area with a glass wall and roof, so you can sit there comfortably even in mid-November without freezing. All in all, absolutely top-notch.

Third time at the two locations where the staff's service is subpar. I had to wait a very long time for a simple order and then argue with the customer.

You can have a delicious lunch here. I had a white baguette with warm brie, walnuts, bacon, and a delicious honey mustard sauce poured over it. It's just a shame the cola is served with three ice cubes, which means you end up with half the glass filled with cola. I should have asked for that beforehand.

This place is crowded for a reason. There are heaters inside and outside plus blankets for comfortable dining. Staff are great! We had an awesome dinner from 20:00 - 23:30. Their complimentary bread and butter were very good. The reviews said their apple pie was awesome but we didn't really like it. Nevertheless, I was intrigued about their dessert - pornstar martini tiramisu and gave it a try. The name speaks for itself!

A beautiful building and beautifully decorated. We walked in without a reservation on a very busy evening. They did everything they could to free up a table for five. The service was very friendly and patient. The food was fantastic, and our tip was very generous by Dutch standards. One minor drawback was the live DJ. The music was, of course, contemporary and a bit too loud to have a normal conversation. This restaurant was recommended by a local, and she was absolutely right. This is the place to be for a fun evening.

Cozy Grand Café. It has a reasonable fixed menu and a daily special. When the terrace is full, you have to wait a long time for your order. That's been better. They should consider something new.

The spicy chicken that isn't spicy 🌶️. Apparently, by Twente standards, three pieces of seedless red pepper are spicy. Otherwise, it's a busy and cozy place, especially on a market day. Prices are a bit higher on average, which you can tell from the menu without prices, so that's the only downside.

Whether you order a bottle of wine or individual glasses, the price is exactly the same: you get 5 glasses from a bottle and this is the same amount.

It took a long time for the Irish coffee to arrive. The whipped cream had collapsed, and the coffee was definitely not warm anymore; they probably waited too long for it to be served. We reported it, and our glasses were taken, but they came back the same. We could have gotten a dollop of whipped cream, so we did. The waitress certainly did her best, so thanks for that. But the two orphans/the square could have come up with a better solution. Bad business. There was a fair, but they weren't hanging out with their legs hanging out.

Atmospheric with smooth service

Always a pleasure to sit here. Good wine, delicious gin and tonic, and a great limoncello spritz. The service is very friendly, even to dogs. I come here often; this was my first time with a dog, but they're well-equipped for that.

A flat white (a cappuccino with an extra shot of coffee) for €6.35! And they even make it in a small cup.
