It was a very nice cafe. I remember there was a huge storm that day.

A previous misunderstanding was resolved with understanding and a complimentary lunch. That's how it should be! Had a wonderful lunch with musical friends before the recording session in the studio. Excellent service. Thank you.

The waiters weren't interested in service. You have to call them over, even though they're a meter away and don't see that you want to order. Then the food is placed there listlessly, and you don't even get a napkin with your toast. This can happen when things are hectic, but not when there are only two guests.

The food was delicious! The waitress was friendly and helpful, as we were also attending a theater performance. We'll definitely be back when we're ever near Hengelo.

Nice restaurant with friendly service

The food was fine, good. I thought it was a bit overpriced for the quantity and quality, hence not five stars. The service is good when it's quiet, but not so good when it gets busier; then they don't notice if your glasses have been empty for a while, and you have to confront the staff. I like the atmosphere, and they also broadcast live football on screens. One major drawback: we arrived just after opening time, and the tables and chairs we sat on were dirty! So they hadn't been properly cleaned the night before.

Nice place, but the service is a bit clumsy and lacking in expertise. They don't see empty plates or glasses, and they don't look around for people asking questions. They're on autopilot. They also don't know much about the menu. As soon as you start asking questions, they get lost. This could use more attention in terms of instructions.

Excellent food, beautiful location, nice decor. There's an outdoor area with a glass wall and roof, so you can sit there comfortably even in mid-November without freezing. All in all, absolutely top-notch.

Third time at the two locations where the staff's service is subpar. I had to wait a very long time for a simple order and then argue with the customer.

Great atmosphere, you can watch football or just chat 👍 The food (I had a hot chicken flammkuchen) was definitely delicious, just be aware that the portions are quite large. I was also impressed with the service; we didn't have to wait long.

You can have a delicious lunch here. I had a white baguette with warm brie, walnuts, bacon, and a delicious honey mustard sauce poured over it. It's just a shame the cola is served with three ice cubes, which means you end up with half the glass filled with cola. I should have asked for that beforehand.

Sandwiches are tasty, huge and lunch worthy. The lunch menu is very diverse and has something for everyone. The beer menu is extensive. Friendly amusing service. Find a cozy place yourself. Making a reservation is a good idea on the weekend.

This place is crowded for a reason. There are heaters inside and outside plus blankets for comfortable dining. Staff are great! We had an awesome dinner from 20:00 - 23:30. Their complimentary bread and butter were very good. The reviews said their apple pie was awesome but we didn't really like it. Nevertheless, I was intrigued about their dessert - pornstar martini tiramisu and gave it a try. The name speaks for itself!

A beautiful building and beautifully decorated. We walked in without a reservation on a very busy evening. They did everything they could to free up a table for five. The service was very friendly and patient. The food was fantastic, and our tip was very generous by Dutch standards. One minor drawback was the live DJ. The music was, of course, contemporary and a bit too loud to have a normal conversation. This restaurant was recommended by a local, and she was absolutely right. This is the place to be for a fun evening.

Cozy Grand Café. It has a reasonable fixed menu and a daily special. When the terrace is full, you have to wait a long time for your order. That's been better. They should consider something new.

The spicy chicken that isn't spicy 🌶️. Apparently, by Twente standards, three pieces of seedless red pepper are spicy. Otherwise, it's a busy and cozy place, especially on a market day. Prices are a bit higher on average, which you can tell from the menu without prices, so that's the only downside.

We had a fantastic evening at De Twee Wezen in Hengelo. We were helped by a very nice and spontaneous girl, Zoë. Congratulations! We'll definitely be back.

Whether you order a bottle of wine or individual glasses, the price is exactly the same: you get 5 glasses from a bottle and this is the same amount.

It took a long time for the Irish coffee to arrive. The whipped cream had collapsed, and the coffee was definitely not warm anymore; they probably waited too long for it to be served. We reported it, and our glasses were taken, but they came back the same. We could have gotten a dollop of whipped cream, so we did. The waitress certainly did her best, so thanks for that. But the two orphans/the square could have come up with a better solution. Bad business. There was a fair, but they weren't hanging out with their legs hanging out.

Always a pleasure to sit here. Good wine, delicious gin and tonic, and a great limoncello spritz. The service is very friendly, even to dogs. I come here often; this was my first time with a dog, but they're well-equipped for that.

A flat white (a cappuccino with an extra shot of coffee) for €6.35! And they even make it in a small cup.

A price tag with no prices, then charged €6.35 for a flat white coffee. WHAT??!! It was served in a coffee cup. Not even a tall glass. I was absolutely shocked.

Staff scolded guests. Unfortunately, a very unpleasant experience. Because several drinks had been returned, we had reservations about the bill. Only one of the five of us was believed. A written slip of paper with times followed. They were not receptive to our response: an explanation (with photos) and a compromise solution. A waiter told us: "We should just keep our drinks and shut up." An apology followed, but we had already been unfairly addressed in front of all the guests.

Yesterday I had lunch with my 10-year-old son. We both ordered a grilled cheese sandwich and I ordered a "twelve o'clock." His sandwich arrived, and I said, "Go ahead and eat it, or it'll get cold." Mine will be here soon. After 20 minutes, I still hadn't eaten. I went inside and asked where it was. They'd forgotten to pass it on to the kitchen, so I was out of luck and couldn't eat together. I finally got my "twelve o'clock" sandwich, and the croquette was still half frozen. I asked, "Is there any goodwill?" "Well, you'll get a coke on the house for the inconvenience." Personeel totaal niet gastvrij….. getinte man vertelde ons om ‘op te rotten’ alles was kapot volgens hem’. Helemaal niks was kapot maar toch moesten we van het terras ‘op kan*’ is wat de getinte man zei’ sorry maar hier komen wij natuurlijk nooit terug…... als tip meer gastvrij personeel kleine moeite, anders kun je beter niet in de horeca gaan werken…..

Unfortunately, I had a bad experience today with the satay. It wasn't prepared properly, and the sauce was far too spicy. I sent the plate back to the kitchen, and within 5 minutes, the same chicken satay was returned with the chef's message that it was fine. Sorry? If the chicken isn't fully cooked and other pieces are too dry, what's really good? Apparently, the kitchen can't handle a large crowd, which is why some dishes didn't turn out well. Accept the return and re-make it, but as a chef, don't shout that it's fine and then give it back to the customer. It's completely customer-unfriendly, and it seems like every complaint has an immediate response. In my opinion, you're not a chef in that situation; you belong in a snack bar. The peanut sauce should be subtle with the satay, not so much that it'll make your mouth water. Not good. This could definitely be better, especially considering the price. Advice: don't eat there when it's busy; enjoy the good specialty beers and eat well at one of the restaurants in the area. Honestly, the food is definitely worse when it's busy; there's little attention to customer service and quality. If there were a negative Michelin rating... - 3 stars. Sorry, Chef.

It was a warm day, but the terrace is a lovely place to relax in the sun and enjoy a drink. The service was friendly and fast. Yes, we'll definitely be back to try lunch.

The service was not good. Gluten free for someone this was not (!) that is even dangerous! I thought my lemon chicken looked very messy and we had to ask 3 times where the mayo and the ordered drinks were. When paying we each got a free drink - without asking. But it is nicer if you just get good service

We recently went to De 2 Wezen and had a great evening. The cocktails were very tasty and arrived promptly, which is always nice. The atmosphere in the restaurant was great and the food looked good. Unfortunately, our baguette was taken from the table while we were still eating it. That was a shame, because we weren't done with it yet. The staff was otherwise okay, not unfriendly, but not particularly warm either - a bit "medium nice". All in all, a great place for a drink and a bite to eat, but there is still some room for improvement in the service.

Nice atmospheric double café, together with Het Pleintje. The latter café was also the place where I actually sat with my pub quiz team. (Google asked me to write a review of De Twee Wezen instead of Het Pleintje.) Anyway, the quiz (by the organization Let's Quiz) that is organized twice a month is always a party. Especially because of the fact that Mr. Let's Quiz himself takes care of the presentation. This is a man who understands the pub quiz profession. The questions he makes are great mini-essays with a cheerful note, which he strings together in a cabaret-like manner into an evening of top quiz entertainment. One thing I have to get off my chest: I have been there three times now and each time there was far too little fizz in the cola. Only drinking beer on a weekday evening is not an option either, so dear people of Het Pleintje, please pay a little attention to this. Otherwise no complaints.

Had a nice time with a colleague. Staff was busy setting up parasols and heaters. Sometimes it took a while before we got in touch. Had a spicy chicken, looked nice but the chicken was nothing special, looked like a chicken burger from the supermarket. Hot sauce camouflaged the taste.

For years this was our regular spot during the day, in the evening and for dinners and parties. Now the service is super bad. Very long wait. If I don't taste alcohol in the Aperol Spritz anymore, the quality goes down. Food all tastes the same. Smaller portions. Very unfortunate.

Very nice bar! We go there every week for "afterwork" in groups of 8 to 10 and there is always a lot of space on the terrace which is very nice (heated terrace, lit, with sofas, etc.) In terms of beer or drinks, the choice is wide (sometimes a little expensive but for a bar in the city center and not far from the station or the central parking lot it is understandable) and the staff is very friendly and very fast! We usually order towers (4 liters to share) because it's more cost-effective and also more fun (since you have to serve yourself directly at the table, which is great fun!). We usually stay for several hours because we enjoy the atmosphere so much, and sometimes there are even themed nights (like music bingo, which I highly recommend because we had a great time! We only spoke English, and the host, who was excellent, personally made sure we understood everything. It was so nice!) In short, the best bar in the center of Hengelo, for sure!

The service is still very variable. It depends on who you meet. There is a lack of good management. The food is tasty and for what you pay, it is fine. The terrace and the conservatory are cozy but very cramped. There are so many tables that the staff sometimes has to be very flexible. The coffee tastes like weak tea. We grumbled about this and a new one was immediately arranged. Unfortunately, this was the same. This place actually always has room for improvement when we are there. It is not unpleasant but could be much better. There is more to be gained. Perhaps the owner should think about this more with the arrival of more competition in the city center.

It was OK. Nice seating outside, too. Good selection of food, but unfortunately just OK. Service was good, even though we waited over an hour for our food. In the end, they forgot to let us know that the appetizers were finished.

The restaurant scores with a pleasant atmosphere and very friendly service - you feel like you are in good hands. There are also some vegan dishes on the menu, which we found positive. The taste of the food was okay, but it didn't quite justify the price - we would have expected a little more. Nevertheless, overall it was a solid visit and definitely recommended for a relaxing evening.

Ate here today after the performance. The atmosphere is really great and relaxed. More than enough staff who also joke among themselves, are friendly and we like that. I can imagine it bothers others. Then the food. A tasting for 2 people. The mustard soup was way too salty and I didn't eat it. Small piece of flamkuchen with salmon was good, as were the prawns with ravioli. The pokebol would have been better served if it were in two small bowls. Now it was awkward sharing. We had a snitzel that was delicious including garnish. The tenderloin tips were also nice and tender. The fries were too salty, especially with a mayonnaise that was too sour. We did not eat the sitedic salad. This was bare lettuce without sauce and, above all, lots of homemade crutons of multigrain bread. This added nothing, too bad. For dessert a lemmon sorbet and a strawberry sorbet. Both wonderful, nothing to complain about. 1 tip; If you turn on the TV and you have to stand on the table for a while, clean it afterwards. A swipe with your hand doesn't do much afterwards and it's not really tasty for the customer. Will we come back? Of course. All in all, a big 7.5, especially compared to the affordable bill and where you are not rushed by eating. So relaxed.👍😋

A few days ago we went out for dinner at De 2 Wees and ordered a cup of soup and vegetarian lasagna from a friendly waiter. The soup was brought and we enjoyed it. Afterwards it remained remarkably quiet around our lasagna. The friendly waiter did not appear again while we waited for our order. After more than half an hour, another waiter (let's call him Rick) came to our table and collected the soup cups. We told him that we had not yet received our lasagna. The waiter realized that The 2 orphans had forgotten us. He expected it to take 10 to 15 minutes to get the lasagna on the table. That surprised us because it would take more than 10 to 15 minutes for lasagna. In a poor attempt to give the impression that he was busy for us, the waiter brought a set of cutlery. “Look at that,” he said. We looked but saw nothing special. After 10 minutes the long awaited lasagna arrived on the table. But what should have been lasagna was nothing like that, even in our wildest fantasies. We ate some more but left the remainder. When paying with Rick, we made a comment about the poor quality of the lasagna. Rick said that he had never eaten vegetarian lasagna and therefore could not judge it. We took it for granted that we did not pay more than the invoice amount. All in all this was an example of a poorly functioning restaurant. As Herman Finkers might have said: I shouldn't be the 2.

Ik kom hier vaak aangezien ik hier in de buurt woon . Een tijdje geleden heb ik een Carpaccio besteld waar ik ziek van werd en wist niet wat de oorzaak was. In deze heb ik jullie deze week het voordeel van de twijfel gegund en heb nogmaals de carpaccio besteld waardoor ik wederom ziek werd van hetzelfde product. Ik wens geen standaard antwoord dat jullie je hier niet in kunnen vinden en vandaar ben ik genoodzaakt om de VWA in te lichten. Gezondheid staat immers voorop! Nog 1 opmerking. ik begrijp dat jullie ROC leerlingen hebben rondlopen en ik zie dat de 1 harder rent dan de andere...Ik ben immers een klant die vrij snel wil worden bediend waarvoor ik betaal. Ik vindt het niet prettig dat ik personeel zie lummelen terwijl ik een poging waag om iets te bestellen. Doe hier iets aan! Al met al ben ik wel tevreden maar neem bovenstaande in acht! Gr. Fons

We came for dinner. The wait time after ordering was 45 minutes. It was nice to hear this beforehand, and we accepted. We ordered drinks, but after 20 minutes they still hadn't arrived. When we inquired, it turned out something had gone wrong. Unfortunately, 10 minutes later, still nothing. We asked for the bill and went elsewhere. It's a shame. They're not at all set up for dinner. It's a very good place for drinks and snacks (or lunch) in the afternoon, and I enjoy going there too. Unfortunately, there are much better alternatives for dinner in Hengelo.

Had dinner at the Twee Wezen last night before the theater (started at 8:00 PM). We were there at 5:30 PM. At 5:45 PM someone (Dutch speaking) came to take our drinks and at 5:50 PM we could order our food from an English speaking staff member. I ordered Mustard soup and the Surf and Turf large, my girlfriend an onion soup and a meat dish. Asked to replace the prawns in the surf and turf with extra beef medallions. Prawns were out, beef was nothing more than normal in the mix. The soup was served at 6:30 PM and after that it remained quiet. In between we asked if we could also order dessert because of the time, since we had to be in the theater at 8:00 PM. After asking several times where the main course was, we were told at 7:00 PM that it had been served 10 minutes ago and the waiting time had increased to half an hour! Apparently this is only followed through (even after asking) once your empty plate or bowl has been collected. Indicated that we had been there for over 1.5 hours and had only had soup. The gentleman found this very annoying and tried his best. His predecessor had not communicated that the main course had already been ordered. At 7:25 PM he brought the salad with the announcement that the dessert could only now be continued. So we could forget this one... All in all, it became a matter of getting the food down to ensure we could get to the theater on time... The food was delicious, the gentleman did his best to save the situation, but the fun was a bit gone and the stomach was not really filled yet.. We regularly have lunch here and the food is more than excellent and the service is fast. Lunch is therefore highly recommended! But don't go here in the evening when you have a follow-up program..

Two Beings is a concept. Service that is looking forward to their work, food that is tasty, and its spacious conservatory is a wonderful place where you can enjoy the early spring sun. Even on a Monday afternoon it can be quite busy. I think that says enough how loved The Two Orphans is.

Gezellig restaurant! Bediening prima! Maar...... Glutenvrij brood is echt echt met betonnen korsten. Tanden/kiezen brekend! Terwijl je tafelgenoot heerlijk brood krijgt zit jij alle korstjes te verwijderen en blijft er weinig brood over. Ook heel fout is het dat het brood geroosterd wordt in de ook voor gewoon brood gebruikte broodrooster. Dus besmetting. Echt zo jammer.
