Grand Cafe Tante Fie in Houten Buitengebied

Despite a rocky start, it was still a pleasant experience. We had reserved a spot about three months ago. We arrived at the agreed time, which was also listed in my email, and just walked inside when we arrived. The woman behind the bar completely ignored us. We were clearly waiting to be served, and not even a "If you have a question, please ask my colleagues." Eventually, we managed to get hold of one of the friendly ladies on the terrace and mentioned that we had a reservation. Apparently, no one knew about it?? "Just pick a free spot somewhere." Then the woman behind the bar suddenly had a voice. To which I replied: "Well, we reserved three months ago. And there is no room outside, even though the reservation clearly stated outside." "Well, then you'll just have to sit inside." Sorry??? Incredibly rude. And I had the feeling that the waitress, who was otherwise super friendly, felt the same way, because she looked at us and said: "No problem, I'll just take a look with you..." Eventually, we did get a spot, and with some rearranging, we ended up with a nice place. The ladies serving there are truly amazing. They made my experience ten times better after that first interaction! Hence the 4 stars. The food was top-notch, the service was friendly and really helpful! Real stars there. They single-handedly boosted the review through their service! I will definitely be back!

We walked into this restaurant at around 8:50 p.m. after checking the opening hours on Google Maps, which showed that the restaurant was open until 11:00 p.m. When we arrived, there were only three tables of customers. We stood at the entrance for several minutes. Three staff members saw us, served desserts to the customers who were already dining, and then went back to the bar to continue chatting instead of coming to greet us. When I finally called out to them, the first thing they said was, “What do you want?” There was no greeting, no politeness, and no apology for leaving us waiting. I patiently explained that we were there for dinner and asked if they were still open. They simply replied that the kitchen was closed, again without any apology or explanation. I understand that a kitchen may close earlier than the listed closing time, but the way we were treated was rude and unprofessional. If the kitchen was already closed, a polite greeting and a simple apology would have been the minimum courtesy. Instead, we felt ignored and unwelcome. The issue was not only that the kitchen was closed. The real problem was the complete lack of basic hospitality. Being ignored at the entrance and then spoken to so rudely made us feel extremely unwelcome. I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone expecting decent service. And it is the first time I have felt strongly enough to leave a negative Google review.

We went yesterday for Valentine's Day! It was a super fun evening with artists. The staff had decorated the restaurant for Valentine's Day. The food was excellent, and the chefs had created something delicious. The waitresses and young man were fantastic. Highly recommended for a cozy meal 🥰

On our way to Moulin Rouge, we had a wonderful meal for two, with friendly service and a very nice restaurant. Recommended

Tonight, December 19, 2025, we had dinner in the conservatory with 13 people, and everything was perfectly taken care of. Staff: a big 10, lovely, friendly people. The food was more than good. We had a fantastic evening, thanks to Aunt Fie.

The café has a very pleasant atmosphere with the rides all around, nice decor, and a cozy style. The food wasn't bad, but it wasn't homemade.

Accidentally ended up here for lunch; the atmosphere was nice thanks to the activities at the riding school. The food was fine, but don't expect anything special. The service was good, with a lady who did everything with a friendly smile.

The restaurant is located on a riding school. The terrace is next to the arena where the horses trot. So, horse lovers will definitely find something to their liking here. Parking was difficult because it was incredibly full. The restaurant wasn't very clean. The waitress was single-handed and busy, which didn't seem very encouraging. I can understand that, but as a customer, it shouldn't bother her. The food was delicious.

Booked online. Was super easy. When we arrived we thought, where have we ended up. We were going to eat, not ride a horse! Inside it was really nicely decorated, with a view of the riding arena. Service was really nice, and the menu was so good that we actually couldn't eat. I had Peking duck, and my wife onion soup as a starter. Then I had the curry, and my wife had beef in stroganoff. A really nice Grand Café. Finally a really nice place in Houten. The food is delicious and the service is absolutely great.

We unexpectedly landed here with 7 ladies on a Sunday evening. We were allowed to take a seat at the large table. The restaurant is spacious and has nice corners. So even when it's busy, you certainly don't feel like you're sitting on each other's laps. Super friendly staff! The food is certainly good and the price-quality ratio is also right. I had the fish of the day and it was well prepared. Just as it should be, compliments. Vegetables were also well cooked and had a nice taste. In short, definitely worth repeating! To the staff of Aunt Fie: thank you for the wonderful evening!

Gisteren een babyshower gehouden bij Tante Fie. Het eten was uitstekend en vooral de huisgemaakte soep was lekker. Echt aandacht besteed aan het geboden arrangement. We konden naar hartelust versieren, wat erg gewaardeerd is omdat we een thema (jungle) hadden die veel decoratie vereiste. Flexibel in het meedenken. Prima centrale locatie als gasten uit alle windstreken komen. Iedereen heeft genoten.

When you arrive you don't expect such a nice and tasty restaurant. A cozy warm atmosphere, friendly service, very child friendly and the food was very good. We will definitely come back here again!

Super nice place to eat, have drinks and eat, super quality of food and price quality is super good! Management is very professional! And extremely friendly! It is also very nice to have a drink with snacks and cocktails! Once you sit down, you will never come home from the fun!

Heerlijk gegeten. Uitgebreide, goede menukaart. Mooie wijnen. Betaalbaar. Vriendelijk personeel. Leuk uitzicht op de bijbehorende manege. De paardrijders in de bak binnen. De paardrijders buiten. Mooi verlicht ook ‘s avonds buiten. Leuk om ook even bij de paarden te kijken. Aanrader!

We ate the onion soup and the meat platter for 2 people. Everything was very well prepared, very tasty and super tender and the portions were generous. I think they rarely sell desserts here, because you're just full after the main course. You have to get used to the horse smell when you enter, but in the conservatory you hardly notice it and it is also special that you have a view of the training of show jumping horses while eating. Definitely worth a visit.

Wile had a drink here on Sunday, August 4, 2024, were sent away with the message that we always close at 8 o'clock on Sundays, but it's a shame not.

Was fun. Friendly staff and helpful. There was a dressage going on, so there was something to watch. And a delicious onion soup.

Superlekkere ervaring. Salade met zalm en garnalen waarbij je ook echt zalm en garnalen geserveerd krijgt. Broodje kroket waarbij je het gevoel krijgt dat de kroketten toerplaatsen gemaakt zijn heerlijk, Burger tante Fie vol lof evenals de gehaktbal en broodje geitenkaas. Allemaal even smaakvol voor een aantrekkelijke prijs. Evenals als de drankjes. Hertog Jan en een tot wijntje waarbij je niet de hoofdprijs hoeft te betalen. Fijne bediening en een top chef.

Bei uns war es eher eine Zufallsbegegnung, aber wir waren sehr erfreut über das leckere Essen und den netten Service :) gerne wieder

When you arrive at the site you think you are wrong. But if you walk into the building on the left side of the riding school, then you are in the right place. A special experience! Delicious food with a view of the horse arena. It is nicely decorated and the atmosphere is cozy. The service is extremely friendly. There were only two of us now, but we would love to come back with the children. The lady who served us told us that children are also welcome to go to the ponies to pet them and feed them a carrot. Really a very nice concept.

Nice café next to a riding school. The food was fine, I think the smoothies were made with frozen fruit, or at least that's what it tasted like. That was a pity. Friendly service.

Superleuke en gezellige locatie, met enorm vriendelijk personeel wat er alles aan deed om het iedereen naar de zin te maken. Was daar voor verjaardagsfeest.

31-12-2023 had New Year's Eve drinks, super fun with music and 👌 great arrangement with snacks and fun, it was super fun, team Aunt Fie thanks and see you in the new year 2024!!!!🎉

Neat service, friendly atmosphere and you are asked if everything is to your liking. The food is then immediately replenished. Nice, non-overpowering music is played...! Everything for an affordable wallet and that too..! Great..

Fijne plek en lekker eten! Vriendelijk personeel.

Met een groep van rond de 20 man heerlijk gegeten in de serre. Vooraf reserveren ging super en personeel was gezellig en professioneel. Eten is ook van kwaliteit. De muziek was aan het einde van de avond behoorlijk hard maar dat kwam door een paar stamgasten die het gezellig hadden. Aanrader voor verjaardagen e.d. De toiletten mogen wel wat netter.

Geweldig lekker gegeten. Goede service en gezellige atmosfeer. Makkelijk parkeren en goed bereikbaar. Tot snel! 🤙😎👍

Na een mooie wandeling kwamen we hier, mede door de reviews, terecht. Helemaal gezellig. Mooi uitzicht op de binnenbak en vooral: superlekker geluncht. Met liefde en aandacht gemaakt van krakend verse producten. Ook de lieve en attente bediening verdient een speciale vermelding. We komen zeker nog eens terug. Een aanrader!

We waren op zoek naar een goed bereikbare plek (dwz centraal in Nederland) om bij te praten en kwamen hier terecht. Het bleek het café van een manege, maar het eten was verrassend goed en de bediening uitermate vriendelijk. Vanuit Utrecht CS heel makkelijk te vinden op de OV fiets (volg het spoor), en voor autorijders helemaal makkelijk. En je kan dus tijdens het eten naar de langsgaloperende paarden kijken 😀

Heerlijk gegeten, gezellig restaurant met zicht op de paardrijders in de bak van de manege, hoe leuk!. Bediening super aardig, meedenkend en gezellig! Alleen waren de toiletten vies en oud, daar mag echt wat aan gebeuren. Zonde want het past niet bij het restaurant.

Gegeten met de familie, het is een aanrader. Persoonlijk eet ik bijna geen vlees. Maar eet ik bij tante Fee. Dan eet ik altijd een biefstuk. Super.

Kwam vandaag thuis uit m'n werk en m'n vriendin had een verrassing. Spare ribs :) Ze had vanmiddag bij Tante Fie gelunched, en raakte daar aan de praat over spare ribs. Er werd gepocht over de beste spare ribs uit de regio. Aangezien ik liefhebber ben heeft m'n schatje ze gelijk mee genomen. Zojuist gesmikkeld. Al ken ik niet alle spare ribs uit de regio, dat pochen was geheel terecht. Suppermalse spare ribs die bijna van het bot gleden. Daar mag ze vaker mee thuis komen of anders ga ik ze zelf wel halen.

Super leuke stek bij een manage, heel kindvriendelijk en lieve bediening. Het eten was heerlijk, wij komen zeker nog een keer terug.

Zag er erg netjes uit allemaal niet gegeten daar. Maar wel een lekker kopje thee gedronken. En vriendelijk personeel

Wat een geweldige tent! 24 maart 2019 super gezellige middag gehad bijTante Fie, een heerlijk 4 gangen diner met vrienden. Even snel geteld 120 gasten meer of minder misschien, maar het was perfect of ik in een sterren restaurant zat goede wijn, perfect eten echt top! De bediening was echt geweldig niks op af te dwingen hier kunnen heel veel restaurants een voorbeeld aan nemen. Een 10 met een griffel!

Eten was erg lekker, jammer dat mandje brood zo lang op zich liet wachten, nog niet op en hoofdgerecht staat er al
