Lovely cafe with very spacious seating. The food is also very good. It's definitely recommended for the whole family.

After hearing that this is a nice restaurant, we decided to give it a try! Unfortunately, we came home disappointed. First of all, the restaurant is acoustically very poorly finished. If people on the other side of the restaurant are having a good time and talking a bit loudly (which is allowed!!), you will be bothered by that on the other side. It echoes enormously, and it is also a high ceiling. Acoustic screens on the ceiling could help, for example. So if you use hearing aids or are easily overstimulated, think carefully about this. The food: we ordered a bread board together, which we waited 20 minutes for. Once it was finished, it remained on the table for a long time and it took even longer for the main course to arrive. We ordered a plate to share with 2 people, a very nice idea. However, the chicken was cold and the food on the tray was not really pleasant to eat without a plate. We indicated this and asked for new chicken and plates, but fifteen minutes later it still had not arrived. We left the chicken and started fiddling around to eat the food from the tray in a somewhat neat way. We ordered a drink between the starter and the main course, which also arrived quite some time after the main course had been cleared away (1 coke..). We went to the cash register without having had dessert, we didn't feel like it anymore 😅 Unfortunately, it is really not recommended.

When we arrived, there was ample parking. Upon entering, we were allowed to choose a table and were asked if we'd like something to drink. After perusing the menu, we ordered mustard soup and nachos as a starter, and both spare ribs for the main course. The mustard soup was supposed to be served with bread and herb butter. Unfortunately, it was just mustard soup with herb butter and no bread. A huge missed opportunity, considering neither the chef nor the server realized this. After raising the issue, we were asked if we still wanted the bread, but 10 minutes before the main course, I didn't need it. The mustard soup was good. Personally, I didn't like the Parmesan cheese shavings. The nachos were nothing special and could be made better at home. The tortilla chips were bland, and the toppings weren't very flavorful either. A bit of a wasted dish. On to the main course. The spare ribs are served with coleslaw and your choice of fries or baked potato. The coleslaw was fine, and unlike the spare ribs, the fries were well-seasoned. The spare ribs were easy to eat off the bone without too much gnawing, but they were bland. Not, for example, a good barbecue, sweet, or spicy lacquer. Just plain boring. We had to wait 35 minutes for the bill, which is simply too long. Not a successful dinner for me. A shame.

The atmosphere was pleasant, with a cozy ambiance. However, the service seemed a bit out of sync. Without being overbearing, someone came by about every 10 minutes to ask if we wanted another drink. The food was delicious and in ample portions. The average price per person was around €30.00 for a starter and main course.

Had to wait too long for service. Price-quality ratio was not okay.

I have been coming to this nice and cozy café a few times now, we like to sit on the terrace with friends to enjoy the weather but also our drink. Now quite close with the staff who do everything they can to keep it pleasant. As for some vinegar siders, iced coffee has recently become available, unfortunately only when the manager is present, and the iced coffee is as iced coffee should be. I regularly taste this from my girlfriend. If you want ice with it, you shouldn't order an iced coffee but a frappe. 😉 During cocktail evenings it can be very busy and unfortunately they no longer serve on the terrace. It might be an idea to close the terrace (partially). 5 stars are actually not enough for this business, if I could, I would definitely give them more stars if possible, top business and top staff, I can't say anything less.😘

We had reserved a table online and called again a day later to be sure. It went well, I also received a confirmation email later. But upon arrival we were not in the agenda? But we were able to sit at a table that said "reserved". It all went a bit slowly, the order for a second drink took a long time and others did get food... We had to wait a very long time because... it turned out later... our order had not been passed on to the kitchen. There were (after more than an hour and a half) apologies and an offered drink. Then the ordered food arrived fairly quickly. Fortunately that was not disappointing. The spare ribs were wonderfully tender and tasty, the burger was also fantastic, nice bun and the meat was also excellent. After 9 p.m. it became very noisy in the Grand Café, so we chose to skip dessert.

Beautiful grand café, spacious and yet a cozy atmosphere that suits the historic center of Appingedam. Attentive and friendly service! A relatively small menu, but everything that comes out of the kitchen is simply delicious. My girlfriend eats gluten-free and has not been able to enjoy such a delicious hamburger in a long time. Compliments! Very affordable too, I would have paid more for this and will definitely come again. An undiscovered gem for many.

Nice location, beautiful location also inside. They use iron straws for children, not seen before but sustainable! And the food was also tasty: the fries, bitterballen and the nachos pulled chicken were very tasty!

Located in a beautiful location in the center of Appingedam. Service is smooth and good. A small menu nevertheless provides enough choice. O.a. various burgers and satay are on the menu. The quality of the food served is excellent. Highly recommended!
