Grandcafe Marron in Wijk 50 Hoogeveen

Great atmosphere and a beautiful cafe! The interior is nice and inviting, and you can sit by the window :) The service was great 💞 The food was also very tasty. We ordered the burger, which initially seemed very disappointing because the plate was very large and the two onion rings looked a bit sad... (too bad you only get two) But we got a good piece of meat, which was well-cooked and very filling 🫶🏼 The burger also had cheese, jalapeños, and pickles on it, which made it perfect. I really appreciated that the sauce was served separately. I can definitely see myself coming back!! 🎀

Marron offers a varied menu with a balanced selection, the entire menu clearly presented on 3 to 4 pages. We had a very delicious mustard soup as a starter and a lovely veal steak. The building is tastefully decorated with subdued, yet atmospheric lighting. We were given two small appetizers as an appetizer, which were very well received. So much so that we even received two more when we asked our waitress – kudos for the free service! The Snickers 2.0 dessert was also delicious. The food, ambiance, and staff were excellent. Highly recommended, worth every euro. We will definitely visit Grand Cafe Marron again!🙏

Nice, spacious restaurant. Good service. Tables are wiped down. Tables are cleared in between. Food is delicious. We had lunch twice during our weekend getaway.

The nachos were very bland, and the pulled chicken that came with them was very dry. The fries arrived 10 minutes later than the rest, and they were almost cold. The glasses weren't all that clean either. The service was very dull; the people weren't very spontaneous. I'll never come here again!

We've been here several times for lunch and dinner. Last night, the cozy restaurant was busy. The food was delicious, from starter to dessert.

Always good and enjoyable at Marron; this time I ordered a generous drinks platter and several other snacks. I drank mocktails, specialty beers, and wine...in short, I spent a lot of money at Marron. It's a bit of a shame then that, after politely asking, they refused a small block of nougat because you only get that with coffee...

Dry fries and the rawest steak ever served. The service offered to re-fry it, but then it was just flattened dry on the baking sheet with a spatula. I thought it was fine.

I had dinner with my girlfriend last night. The food was good and the service friendly. My girlfriend absolutely loved the dessert. The price was a bit high, but the place was cozy.

We had a great meal on Pullendag! This beer tasted great too, by the way!

Main courses don't come with any vegetables as standard. So you pay €33.50 for a tournedos just for the meat. I find the price-quality ratio poor, even though it tastes great. The fries are a bit overcooked.

Very tasty food. Enough choice for everyone and there are also vegetarian options. The Salmon is highly recommended and the Dame Blanche is also delicious. I really enjoyed the nice atmosphere and the top service. Taking some time to have a chat was also super cool. Everything was great and I recommend everyone to visit it.

In terms of food, drinks and staff, absolutely 5 stars. I'm not really into the look/ambiance, but that's purely personal preference (I feel like a slob in such a chic place). I do like to sit on the terrace, you can enjoy delicious food here (both lunch and dinner). Thought the card was very creative and had difficulty making a choice. Everything looked great and tasted very good. Compliments!

Spontaneously staying for dinner tonight. As always very friendly help. The staff deserves a big compliment! Unfortunately not the kitchen: I had something different: a tagine with lamb and cous cous. Unfortunately, this dish had nothing to do with a tagine. The meat was fatty, over-cooked and lacked the typical Moroccan flavor. The cous cous was poorly prepared because it was wet. On top of that on a soggy bun. This tagine had never seen the inside of an oven. It's a shame that they dare to put this on the table. Fortunately, the atmosphere in the restaurant made up for something. My proposal is to replace the cook as soon as possible

A year and a half after my 50th anniversary, I redeemed the gift voucher from colleagues. Had a nice meal at Gran Café Marron 👍🏼‼️

I really enjoyed it, right in the heart of the city, very plentiful and good.

Food was very tasty but we found it ridiculous that we had to pay 2.50 for fresh vegetables with the menu. It was rather standard with the food and that is how it should be for those prices. Dining is not something we will repeat with you 🤷🏼‍♀️

When taking an order, questions are asked such as, would you like .... instead of ... without indicating that there are consequences for the price of the dish.

On Boxing Day we had a sharing Christmas dinner here in the afternoon. A selection of starters and soups and main courses and desserts served on festive wooden planks. Very tasty and original and very friendly service! 1 comment: the dessert board could have been a little more festive with, for example, a burning sparkler in it or something. Had a very nice new experience this way at Christmas. Personally, it's also nicer than eating so much in the evening.

Went here for lunch with two people on Sunday afternoon without a reservation. It was full house, but luckily there were still a few tables available. Despite the crowds, we were helped quickly. We both went for the Korean Chicken and it turned out to be an excellent choice.

I eat here regularly when I'm in Hoogeveen. Staff is friendly, food is always great and it has a nice warm decoration. Never wait long for food or drinks. Very nice cozy tent. Definitely recommended

It was so busy inside that we sat on the terrace. The server had to be picked up to place an order. Many people walk there, the majority of whom are friendly. Our lunch was delivered quickly. Shrimp croquettes and satay with fries and ham. Croquettes were good but not home made. The fries were not crispy. The satay was very good and more than enough. We found the ham fries dish to be mediocre in taste. That is of course personal.

As always, it was wonderful to eat here.. not only the excellent meal, but also the service and attention you receive!!

Beautifully decorated restaurant feels comfortable and fun with a wide variety of seating arrangements spaced well. While the food I ordered was average, the place & wait staff were excellent. Great Sunday lunch vibe with groups of friends, families and couples enjoying themselves. I got this as a recommendation from a local, and can see why it's a popular spot!
