As a family, you enjoy coming to places like this, and for once you arrive on time; today was one of those moments for us, arriving on time, and unfortunately, everyone had their food before us. Ordering went wrong Drinking went wrong Food took a long time Sorry, I was not satisfied with Happy Italy 🇮🇹

My mother would call it a food factory. The food was actually tasty, especially for a food factory. Kids can play in a ball pit, which was fun. The service is a bit like at McDonald's.

We found it a very pleasant experience. It was way too sharp. Really too much! Screaming children. Not my thing there. Too expensive for what you get.

Nice spot after a day in Groningen!

It was very busy on a Saturday night, but we got a table for seven people after just five minutes. The staff speak perfect English and are very friendly. The best thing for kids is the ball pit.

We love visiting Happy Italy, both in Rotterdam and Groningen. The staff are friendly, the service is good (the restrooms are clean!), and there is a wide selection on the menu. Last time, it happened to be our anniversary as well. I had asked if they could make the dessert subtle but extra special. That was no problem at all. A small gesture, but incredibly nice and thoughtful! 🌸

Every time I go there, I eat at Rustica, but nowadays they put very little meat in it, so I don't choose it anymore; they have cut corners on the ingredients.

We had a delicious meal! We did have to wait a long time before we could order new drinks. But once we had ordered, they arrived quickly. The service was very friendly.

The food is okay. The toilets, on the other hand, are truly too disgusting for words...

The place wasn't full by any stretch of the imagination. Had to wait about 10 minutes to be seated. We got our starters and waiting 45 minutes for the main course to arrive and after all this the pizza was burnt on the edge and hard.

It's a nice place in itself with okay food, but it's so busy. The number of staff walking around isn't adjusted to handle this. It took a very long time for someone to come and take our order, and then we had to wait more than 45 minutes for our food. Next, we ordered a dessert using the QR code on the table, but after half an hour we still hadn't received anything.

Despite the crowds, the staff was very attentive and professional. The food was delicious and the service good. We used a Kruidvat promotion and will do so again next time.

It was busy on a Thursday evening.

Had a delicious meal. The chicken tart was plentiful and tasty. The scoops of ice cream were served in an edible waffle cup. The food was brought to the table quickly. Definitely recommended for dining.

The service was very nice! Friendly and helpful waiter. Unfortunately my food had mold so it was the first time in my life I had to puck in a restaurant. I didn’t read the reviews before, but now it makes sense

We absolutely can't complain. We walked in without a reservation, and the place is big enough that you can easily get a table. Our pasta arrived quickly, even a bit faster than the drinks, since we ordered everything at once. All in all, it was great here.

Unfortunately, we had to speak English. And we are not good at that. That is the only downside.

We didn't get exactly what we ordered (full-size pizza instead of the kids' version) and my extras were barely cooked (Parma ham and mushrooms). The toilets were really very dirty and the sink was full. Friendly and efficient service and a nice play area.

The weather was beautiful and we were able to eat outside. It was pleasantly busy and we were served very kindly. Everything was exactly to our liking; things moved quickly but not too fast, the pizzas were delicious, and the ice cream tasted great too.

The food was amazing and full of flavor! Everything we tried was delicious. I would also like to give a special thanks to the Greek gentleman working there. He was extremely kind and friendly. We accidentally ordered something we don't eat, and he happily replaced it for us with a smile. His outstanding customer service made our visit even more enjoyable. We will definitely come back. Highly recommended!

We went here for a second time because we wanted to eat quickly after a day of shopping, and the first time had been reasonably good, except for the uninterested host. The food is decent, but not a culinary masterpiece. The second time, we and other people (who were just standing in the rain) had to wait 20 minutes because the host, in particular, but also the other staff, completely ignored us and were making jokes with his colleague(!). When he finally spoke to us, he said that everything was full (half the place was empty). Why didn't you say that sooner when you see all those people waiting!!! We went across the street to the Mexican restaurant (Four Roses)... were immediately welcomed with open arms and they found/made a place for us. Had a delicious meal!

We were a group of 24 people at two tables. However, the kitchen treated us as two groups, resulting in a 45-60 minute gap between the main courses for both tables. Otherwise, the food was good and the service was friendly.

The food was delicious. The staff were friendly. The prices were comparable to other restaurants in Groningen. What surprised me was that we received our food before our drinks. However, I didn't mind because I was really hungry. Both the food and drinks arrived promptly.

I don't like going out to eat, but because it was my girlfriend's birthday, we ended up here with our children. We hadn't made a reservation, so we had to wait a bit. We were assigned a table with plenty of room for the four of us. It was busy, so we had to wait a little while for the food, and that's fine. The food—pasta and I personally had pizza—was good. Although I think my pizza was too spicy, and I hadn't ordered that. Anyway, otherwise it was fine. The nice thing is that if you can't finish it, you can take it home. It was busy, and I wouldn't be able to handle working there myself. Hats off to everyone who works there. So keep up the good work.

From the start the service people was horrible and we were seated at an awful table. The pizza was no different from Domino's pizza. It tasted like Gouda was used instead of mozzarella. The pepsi drink tasted only of sweeteners. The pasta is horribly overpriced and not tasty. The place was filled with loud and annoying children, which were not separated from the rest of the diners. They ran around the place. The view outside the window consisted of garages.

Had a delicious meal: a salmon pizza, a nice beer, and Italian mess for dessert. Worth repeating.

Nice place and the waiters were friendly and polite. Unfortunately, the food was a huge disappointment. The pizza tasted like the dough wasn't fresh and the tomato sauce had little to no flavor. The cheese, which was served as Parmesan, didn't resemble it in the slightest. As can be seen in the photo, half of the food ended up being returned. For dessert, the cheesecake was tasty, but we didn't finish the Italian Mess. It had a huge amount of syrup on top that was far too overpowering. I have never tasted anything so sweet. We pointed this out to the staff. They indicated that they receive the cheese delivered that way from headquarters, but nothing further was done about our complaint. It's a shame, because the atmosphere of the place and the service are okay, but the food/ingredients felt very loveless. Even with a discount coupon, it's not worth the price! A pity for such a nice place. With a good policy and a few simple steps, you don't need discount promotions to attract guests.

A great restaurant to go to for dinner. The food was good; the only downside for me personally was that it was a bit noisy. But that is a personal opinion and does not detract from the good food.

Unfortunately, I didn't like the salami pizza; the salami had a very peculiar taste and smelled strange too. I should have just picked the salami off. Otherwise, the servers were really nice.

We hadn't made a reservation, but there was a spot available anyway, even though it was busy. We were able to order drinks quickly, and they arrived promptly, but then it took a while before we could order our dishes. The staff kept apologizing for this and were super friendly! The pizzas are large and taste great.

We had to wait well over 50 minutes for our food. Twice, the wait staff came by to say that the kitchen was busy and that it was therefore taking longer than usual. However, it was striking that guests who arrived later did receive their food sooner. When the food finally arrived, it was very disappointing: the pizza was dry and the pasta far too salty. So, not recommended. Certainly not considering the price, which is manageable in itself (14 euros for a pizza), but absolutely not in proportion to what you get for it.

Delicious food, we'll be back. The food really deserves six stars. You can see into the kitchens and they serve you directly in German. The service was quick and friendly. We had salami and BBQ meatloaf pizzas. Completely satisfied.

The pasta was bad and the service slow 40 min waiting time

It's Saturday, two women in their 40s, enjoying the weekend without the kids. We were starving. After a 10-minute wait, we were seated at a table surrounded by noisy children, babies, and grumbling parents. Chatgpt claims you get a good meal here and that it's delicious. After 45 minutes, we were finally able to order, and another 45 minutes later, the pizza arrived. It was cold, but we didn't feel like waiting for another one. It was still tasty, though. We won't be back. A relaxed dining experience should be something else entirely.

It took a very long time for our food to arrive, waited almost 2.5 hours, I find this very sloppy.

The pizza was average, but it took over 1.5 hours to arrive. It only takes 4 minutes in the pizza oven. All the tables next to us were empty, so it couldn't have been due to the restaurant being busy. When we asked about it, the manager simply said, "Then go somewhere else next time." That's not what we call good service. They were completely unwilling to accept criticism. We won't be coming back.

We've waited 1.5 h for our pizza. Apparently a fault in the system. Good enough to use the privy. No more no less. The choice is yours.

The food was absolutely delicious! Only... we placed two orders: two latte macchiatos and two waffles... only one latte finally arrived. After waiting 45 minutes, we asked where the waffles and the other latte were; they'd probably marked them as "finished." We did get an apology and said they didn't know how it was possible... but it was certainly bizarre when you see tables around you arriving much later. The pizza did arrive quickly!

Went there with the Kruidvat sale, a really good deal. Large pizzas, and the pasta was delicious. It's a shame the desserts are served in plastic cups, but the cheesecake was nice on a plate and very tasty. Great drink options; restaurants often only have soft drinks or alcohol. We were served very quickly, and the food was ready quickly too.

We received a lovely and warm welcome, and was able to choose where we wanted to sit. The pizzas and calabrese salad were superb. The crust was just how a pizza should be, thin and crispy. The salad was super-fresh with a lovely coating of dressing and pesto. Could not fault it. Was disappointed that I was so full, that I couldn't manage a slice of tiramisu 😢😂. Will defo be going back soon.

The right restaurant if you feel like vomiting all night long. Let's be honest: the pizza isn't very good. But that's not the problem, it's that they exist including food poisoning! The kitchen work surfaces are cleaned with a vacuum cleaner. Is this the same one that is used to vacuum the leaves from the floor of the terrace (footpath)? You don't know. Just go eat pizza somewhere else, it's NOT worth it.

Yesterday I went to Happy Italy in Groningen on the Oosterstraat.

The reviews of this restaurant were not very positive. Still, we wanted to try out whether it was better than indicated. This restaurant itself is considerably better than indicated in various reviews. The service is super nice and competent, the pizza and pasta are delicious and the prices are great. The atmosphere is of course personal, in such a large store there is of course little Italian atmosphere, although Italian music would be an option. All in all, we are positively surprised and Happy Italy is highly recommended if you are staying in Groningen.

Super friendly staff. We arrived on Saturday evening and had not made a reservation, but we still found a nice place for our group where we could eat in peace. We were treated very kindly and the food arrived super quickly. We really enjoyed it.

Excellent food for a nice price. And friendly and fast staff. Pizza margarita and pasta with shrimp and spinach were tasty. I didn't think the desserts were worth 4 stars. The seasonal fruit with the chocolate cake was strawberry jam. And whether the tiramisu is really homemade... the cocoa was generously sprinkled over it.

Pizza without cheese and tomato. So you cannot get rid of dry bread with carpaccio. Perhaps staff could have pointed this out. Not to eat. Waste of our money.

Nice service but I was brought the wrong pizza, I raised it and a new pizza was brought to me. There were two of us and it was a shame that we couldn't eat together. The pizzas are huge and we still had some left over for the next day.

We were there first and first in Groningen. We were there with 4 people. We were warmly welcomed by the staff and given a table by the window. The selection was plentiful but clear. The food was top. My kids ate pizza that was like this yummy. My husband and I ate pasta. The portion was plentiful and the price was good. We'll definitely come back.

Delicious food in a nice atmosphere

Decent Italian restaurant but wouldn’t say authentic. Price was okay but a little bit on the expensive side for what you get in my opinion. Got the sticky chicken pasta and was lowkey mid tbh. Pasta was a bit hard but probably because I got the whole-wheat pasta so avoid if you don’t like hard pasta.

If I could, I would love to give minus ten Stars! The worst of the worst service ever! Line they sat us down and it took half an hour to even order (til a server came)! Amd then it took OVER AN HOUR TO GET OUR FOOD and that just came because we asked if we could cancelbthe order! Cause who waits that long for just some pasta?! Like I literally just wanted to leave at that point but when we wanted to cancel the order they suddenly came with the food.

Pasta was very watery and had almost 0 taste

I've been here both with my family and with people from work. It's fantastic for kids as they have an indoor play area with climbing and ball pit etc. Very busy and tucked away near the toilets so it doesn't disturb everyone eating. The pizza is very big and really good. They also have pasta and meatballs (including vegetarian). Good choice of beers, including a draught beer. The restaurant is really big, but I recommend booking at the weekend to ensure you get a table.

Enorm slecht, pizzas zitten geen smaak aan en later last van buikpijn. Personeel spreekt alleen maar Engels en bestelling kwam pas na 40 minuten. Ga niet eten hier! Weggegooid geld.

Had delicious pasta here before the concert

Good prices, good food, a friendly and helpful stuff. There was only one problem - it was really cold inside, had to put on my coat.

The quality and size of the pizzas are very good for the price.

De bediening is vriendelijk maar uitvoering van de bestelling en kwaliteit van het eten is ver onder waar het zou moeten zijn. Pizza vol met bbq saus en slappe bodem. Minimaal belegd. Zeker geen tweede keer.

While eating our pizzas, my friend and I saw a mouse walking around. My pizza already wasn't tasty, but this made it disgusting. Later in the evening, while walking past a closed Happy Italy, we checked if we could see any mice walking around. We saw 2. Don't go here. The food is overpriced, and there are mice.

I saw quite a bit of criticism in the reviews on the internet, about long waits for service and such. We have a completely different experience! Super fast and attentive service, and delicious food. Both the pastas and pizzas tasted great. The atmosphere was good, cozy, even on a Tuesday. No downside at all? Oh well, I would have liked to see the beer menu a bit more extensive, but that shouldn't spoil the fun.

Delicious food, pleasant atmosphere! The first drink only arrived at the table at the end of the starter. As a result, I consumed 1 drink in 1 hour.

We ordered two pizzas, both tasted horrible. But the worst part was THE MANAGER and his attitude. Honestly, fire him. I rarely experience such bad service from the person in charge. Eating here was obviously a mistake

Went here with some friends, ordered two pizzas and they both tasted horrible. We said so to the waiter, he told us he was sorry and that he would get the manager. And what an awful experience that was. He came up to the table and asked what was up?? When i answered and said the pizzas were not great he said that that was impossible, that the pizzas looked great and also tasted amazing. He immediately became defensive, didn’t even ask what exactly was wrong with the pizzas, just flat out said that it was impossible, that these are their pizzas and that he has tasted them many times so no problems. What an awful man that makes awful pizzas in an awful establishment.

DONT go here. There are more bad reviews apparently and they still don’t do anything about the food quality?? The food tastes horrible in all honesty; we had one bite and we knew. Im not someone to waste food, but it was that bad. We told the waiter that the food wasn’t up to par and just tasted bad, he then called the manager. The manager gave us attitude right off the bat. He came gave a quick look and said the pizza is fine and this is just how our pizza’s are. I can’t do anything about that. Not even trying the food to see if indeed something is wrong. He really just didn’t care and didn’t want to hear us. Never again and I suggest you go somewhere else if you’re even considering this place.

The pizzas were not tasty. The base was bad and the tomato sauce had a weird taste. It has nothing to do with Italy. They are more like American pizzas like Domino's and New York Pizza, but worse. There was no water in the ladies' toilet and you could not wash hands. We won't come here again.

I ate something here today that they call pizza there, but as far as I'm concerned this is unworthy of the name pizza. A frozen pizza from the supermarket's own brand has more flavor. The ham was not tasty and the 'tomato sauce' sour. I think it was tomato paste and not sauce. Our 5-year-old daughter was enthusiastic, she got her pizza in the shape of a rabbit's head. The tap in the ladies' toilet did not work, so we had to wash hands in the disabled toilet. There was a used diaper on the edge above the toilet. Children really enjoy it here because of the indoor play area, and the decoration of the restaurant is also quite nice, but if you want to eat a tasty pizza you shouldn't go here.

Pasta tasted old and bad service. Barely saw the waiter and it all took a very long time. During checkout, additional products were also added to the receipt that had not been ordered.

Last night in Groningen. Ordered pasta for myself and 6 year old granddaughter. Very bad!! Leave everything alone after 2 bites. You also couldn't wash your hands as there was no water in the ladies' toilet. Never again!!

The food here is always excellent, and we thought it would be useful to go with a child because of the play area in the back. Unfortunately, my partner and I got sick from eating later that evening, resulting in extreme stomach cramps. Not again. The toilet in the restaurant was also very dirty. There was toilet paper with poop next to the toilet, the tap was not working. When I mentioned this, the waiter said: “yes indeed” I hope we get better soon.

The food was mediocre. Pizza does not have a good base. Small wine glasses. Pizzas went into the oven after twenty minutes after we asked how they were doing. Penne had suddenly become fusilli, because we were under time pressure and ate it anyway. To top it all off, a wrong receipt.
