It took quite a long time before we got our drinks. The food, however, arrived quickly and was tasty. Most of the staff were nice. One lady didn't seem very enthusiastic. We received the wrong flavor ice latte twice, but it was still good.

A wonderful experience at Happy Italy Nieuwegein! The food was delicious and served quickly. The pizzas and pastas were well-seasoned and the portions were generous. The staff was friendly and helpful, and despite the busyness, the service remained good and pleasant. The atmosphere in the restaurant is also very nice. Super tasty pizzas and pastas!! However, the second time I came, no one came by to take our order, and we had to go inside ourselves every time to order something.

Not fresh, tables sticky, and the pizza wasn't great. Plastic plates and mini glasses of wine. Really cheap food.

Had a delicious meal and free parking

Well, the food was okay; we had a pizza, but there was a dollop of tomato puree on it that you could really taste. And we wanted a small plate with it, but then €1.50 was added to our bill for the plate because they would have more washing up to do. And my boyfriend and I looked at each other like, okay, very weird (we also work in the hospitality industry, that’s why). And when we went to pay, and when we asked for the receipt, we waited for almost half an hour, but still ended up going home without a receipt. So I don't think it's very good.

Had a great experience at this Happy Italy, the food was good and the service was excellent. Nichole worked really hard, communicated well, was generous, fast, flexible and friendly. Her genuine interest and care made our group of 7 feel very welcome.

Nicole is a true hostess. She understands the concept of ‘hospitality’. After a long week of volunteering and a conference at the Jaarbeurs Utrecht, we made a mistake with the order ourselves, and she resolved it hospitably and free of charge; a real star, she was running her legs off. The food was just great otherwise 👍🏼

The pizzas were great! The pasta was a bit less impressive, but if you make your own pasta, it's hard to beat. There's a children's play area upstairs; if you love hearing a screaming child with every bite, you should sit up there. Apparently, the staff aren't allowed to say anything about it. Raising children is tough.

Eaten at Happy Italy using a Kruidvat promotion. The service was very friendly and we didn't have to wait long. Dessert was tasty... Pizza not really. It seemed like a ready-made base....no flavor and was sparsely topped. Pizza quatro stagione........a quarter with a few mushroom slices....a quarter with a few artichoke leaves. The ham and salami quarters were sufficient though. Missed some paprika or onion. So little flavor. And quite a bit of noise from screaming children in the play area. I do admire the staff who have to carry all the food up and down the stairs 😉

Enjoyed delicious pasta with salmon and tuna, plus a super tasty dessert! Friendly service. The location is easy to reach with a large free parking lot right in front. Definitely recommended!!

The staff was very serious and not friendly. The pesto pasta we ordered was bitter. But the pizza was okay.

Too bad about the less friendly hostess (short hair), but otherwise very good. Tasty pizzas, baked quickly, the restaurant looks neat.

Experienced it for the third time: staff shortage. Waiting 45 minutes to order a drink. Serving, making drinks, and going to the kitchen is really too much for the staff. Sad, and unpleasant for us. Some people even left because of the long wait.

The pizza was delicious, especially with the Kruidvat voucher it offers good value for money. The ice cream was also delicious. It was a bit of a shame about the poor stock of drinks: Fanta, apple juice, Fristi, and chocolate milk were sold out.

Was there on the 5th of august and took over 50 minutes before our food arrived. Got the drinks on the house for the inconvenience but still was not a proper memorable experience. Good pizza but slightly too cold. Maybe better next time. Server was kind anyway. Might come back later.

I had a very pleasant experience at Happy Italy. I accidentally ordered a pasta carbonara, without knowing it contained bacon, which I do not eat due to my faith. A friendly employee helped me immediately and said that I could choose another pasta without any problem. I found the service very understanding, welcoming, and customer-friendly. Thank you for the good care and the delicious meal!

This place needs an authentic Italian pizza/pasta chef.

There was a shortage of staff, we had to wait a long time for our drinks, and they were not all brought at the same time.

Yesterday we went to Happy Italy in Nieuwegein. Because we normally really love Happy Italy's pizzas, we were looking forward to our visit. Unfortunately, we regretted it a lot this time. We arrived at 8:00 PM and received our drinks at 8:15 PM. About five minutes later, we ordered our food. After that, we had to wait a long time without anyone paying attention to us. My wife's pizza was only brought at 8:50 PM. Moreover, it was cold. My own pizza was not served until 9:05 PM. Unfortunately, it tasted strongly of iodine, which was very unpleasant. Because we were very hungry by then, we didn't say anything about it at the time and just finished our food. What also struck us was that after the pizzas were served, no one came to our table to ask if everything was to our liking or if we needed anything else. We have been coming to Happy Italy for years and have often enjoyed our meals there. In all those years, we have never had such a disappointing experience. It was truly a very bad experience for us, and we find that very regrettable.

Service was disappointing, I think they forgot about us upstairs..... too bad you lied about the large water bottles being gone.....

We went to eat at Happy Italy today and we were not satisfied. First of all, we waited an hour for our food to be served; furthermore, the food was lukewarm to almost cold... we didn't dare say anything, though, because the staff had been giving us dirty looks ever since we walked in, and we got the feeling that we weren't welcome. The food wasn't very tasty either.

Waited 1 hour and 10 minutes for pizzas, 2 out of 3 were almost cold, won't be coming back here...

We visited this branch for the first time today, and we are absolutely not used to this from other Happy Italy restaurants. Upon entering, there was no one to greet us. No "good evening" was said, and only after we had walked around for a bit did we hear: "Black table or upstairs left." Even while taking our order, there was no smile or friendly greeting to be had. After we received our food, we asked for some extra Parmesan cheese. After about ten minutes, my partner went to get it himself, because our pasta was already cold by then. Upon arriving downstairs, he was told by the employee behind the bar: "It was already on its way." Meanwhile, however, the wait staff was busy taking orders at other tables, so we hardly noticed. It's a shame, because we are used to much better from Happy Italy. Unfortunately, for us, this was the first and the last time at this branch.

I just picked up pasta here. When I wanted to eat, it turned out there wasn't even a third of the pasta inside that you normally get at any Happy Italy. And you pay €18 for that. So I won't be going to this location again.

Very nice waiter. However, he was working alone. So he did his absolute best. The food was delicious and ordering via QR code went well and smoothly.

The food was really delicious. I don't say this often. But my sincere compliments to the chefs. The pizzas were beautiful and had tasty toppings. The pasta was perfect. And the portion size was more than we could all handle. So we were allowed to take a doggy bag home. It is definitely highly recommended.

We ate using the Kruidvat promotion. The food tasted good, but the dessert was personally disappointing. We are glad we were able to take advantage of the Kruidvat discount promotion, because without that promotion, we feel the price-quality ratio is not balanced. In our opinion, for the regular price, you get too little for what is served. The service could also be better. The staff was not very friendly, and we had to wait a long time for the dessert. In the end, we even had to ask for it ourselves.

The pastas and pizzas were very tasty! We couldn't finish it and they offered to let us take it home, great! The children could play happily upstairs. The service was super! Sweet, helpful, and fast!

I understand that it is sometimes difficult to find staff, but then do invest in the people you do have. Train them, give them the right education. Furthermore, the food was very tasty. But there were dirty tables around us for too long, and it took a long time before someone came by.

Despite the bad reviews, I still considered coming to eat at Happy Italy, because it used to be a nice place, but that has gone downhill significantly lately (this might be down to this restaurant). We went for a bite to eat with some friends on a special occasion, having made a reservation of course so we were sure of a spot. There was no sign of that; the reserved tables were still dirty and not set up for the correct number of guests. We aren't difficult and didn't want to let this ruin our evening, so we gave it another chance. But it actually got worse over time; it took a while for drink orders to be taken and brought, and even longer for the food to finally arrive (the restaurant was otherwise practically empty). And just staring at an empty glass in this weather until the second round was ordered after, of course, another long wait, which was served without ice and without a new glass (also for ordering another drink). To top it all off, my friends had already received their food, and I was asked three times 'what I had ordered again' just so I could start on my food when the rest were already full. Nice and cozy. And not to forget, we spoke to the staff about this in the meantime. Unfortunately, we haven't heard anything back about it since then either: no refund, no compensation, and no apology. It won't spoil the fun with my friends, but it will spoil the restaurant.

The tables are too close together; it felt very cramped and there wasn't really any privacy with your company. We were also served the wrong pasta.

We certainly didn't leave with a smile. The staff spoke broken Dutch, which caused the order to go wrong. There were five of us, and only three main courses were brought to the table. The receipt was also incorrect, and that could not be corrected. A strange state of affairs; we will not be returning.

Nice place to eat with small children

The waiter was very accommodating, great service and very good problem solving skills. You don’t see that very often.

No warm welcome upon arrival; the lady who served us seemed very grumpy/uninterested. We had to wait a long time to order a second drink. We eventually ordered it ourselves using the QR code on the table. Furthermore, communication with this lady was not pleasant. The food was generally good.

Not recommended. A lot of noise from the ball pit and quite a lot of English-speaking staff (who were very nice, by the way). Furthermore, we waited about 45 minutes for our pizza. People who came in later got their food before us. When we asked about it, the wait staff indicated that the oven was burning the pizza bases. Couldn't they have just mentioned that? Then we could have chosen pasta...

We ate here for the first time. We didn't have a reservation. We ended up dining on the first floor with four people. It was a bit noisy up there, with the sound of children running around. The food was tasty. The price-quality ratio is good.

Ordered pasta pesto with chicken and pine nuts; quick, friendly service and nice seating. However, the pasta itself was really not good. The pesto tasted very watery and the pine nuts very bitter. There was also no Parmesan on the pasta at all. Next time I'll stick to pizza.

Great place! We were helped immediately on a Saturday afternoon at 5:30 PM, fast service, our dish served within 10 minutes, and friendly staff! Ordered tagliatelle twice and it was super tasty! We will be coming back here very often in the future. 🏆

It is very nice to come here with the kids. Upstairs there is a play area with a ball pit and climbing frames. The food is always good. The service is the best! Especially by the man with the red cast!

The food was good. Atmosphere, my goodness Nani “waiter” really knows what she’s doing. A world-class guy - sociable, friendly, and engaged. Tip: Nani Smoothie, refreshing and alcohol-free. We were a party of two - waited a maximum of 20 minutes for the main course, and that on a Friday evening with a full restaurant. We'll be back soon, and indeed, using the Kruidvat voucher is recommended.

Half of my food was not right. I ordered a lot of things, but I wasn't getting anything. When I was finished eating and wanted to pay, the employee said it was still being prepared for the rest of our order.

Unbelievable, there is always something wrong there! Either the air conditioning is broken or the heater is broken, or they close at 8:30 PM on one of the busiest days (Friday evening)!

What a wonderful experience at Happy Italië Nieuwegein! I received truly excellent service from start to finish. A special compliment to Nani Kraai in particular: wow, hats off! Such friendly, professional, and dedicated service. They really took their time, and I felt incredibly welcome and well taken care of. You can tell immediately when someone enjoys their work and goes that extra mile for customers. That really makes a difference. Thanks to Nani, I left with a fantastic feeling. Highly recommended, I will definitely be back!

We had a table for eight persons we reserved beforehand today so there was enough availability. Also in the restaurant there was enough space for us and we were held by a really Respectful and nice Albanian waiter the pizzas and pastas were delicious. Had a lot of taste and the pizza was one of the best we’ve eaten in a long time crops to the pizza chefs would definitely recommend especially during the midweek as it isn’t as busy as in the weekends.

To me, Happy Italy isn't known for its quality or service. Just for a quick bite. Unfortunately, the prices no longer reflect that (way too high) and this branch only has one type of pasta. The rest is 'sold out'. It had been busy. I'm going to help with that, because I don't go to Nieuwegein anymore...

Not recommended! Unfriendly staff, and I don't know if it had to do with skin color, but that's the feeling I got! Poorly ventilated room, and despite advertising vegan alternatives and meat substitutes, the unfriendly employee couldn't tell me what was available. The toilet was not clean, and there is only one toilet where you can sit and one where you can stand.

We had a very pleasant afternoon at Happy Italy, with the sunset as a backdrop, excellent food, and outstanding service. I would like to highlight the exceptional service provided by Spyros.

After a long workday, I got a pizza here with my colleague. The staff went above and beyond to give us the most pleasant experience possible. The restaurant looks neat and is a nice change from the standard highway offerings (lukewarm burgers and soggy fries). The only point for improvement I can think of is that there are too few branches along the highway. Highly recommended!!!

I am a regular customer and always get pasta here. I always get great service from Bea. Very friendly, and always solves things quickly if necessary. A real star!

What a lovely spot for Happy Italy. We were received quite nicely. But in terms of pasta, a lot was missing. No whole wheat and no fusilli. There was no tiramisu either. The pizzas were delicious, but the gorgonzola was sold out here too. A real shame. But anyway, we had a Kruidvat offer. There really is nothing to complain about regarding the price-quality ratio.

We ate here tonight with our group of girlfriends. Unfortunately, we had to cut our meal short halfway through the pizza because one of our friends became unwell (which was NOT caused by the pizza). The always friendly waitress sprang into action immediately and acted very correctly. She remained very calm while immediately calling an ambulance; she made sure space was cleared, offered us a cup of coffee, and waited for the ambulance at the same time. Because we were dining with Kruidvat vouchers and were actually still entitled to dessert, she wanted to contact her manager to ensure we could come back again. We replied that this was very sweet but we didn't think it was necessary (we will be back here anyway). Now that is what we call good service!!! Thank you for your kind and pleasant assistance.

After reading the reviews, we were a bit hasty, especially regarding the fact that people had to wait so long for the food. I do not share this opinion. The food arrived quite quickly and the service was friendly and helpful. The price-quality ratio is just OK.

The staff member was friendly and spoke good English, which was appreciated. However, she was the only one handling service, which led to long waiting times before we could place our order. Additionally, tables were not cleared promptly, leaving the dining area looking untidy. With better staffing and attention to cleanliness, the overall experience could improve significantly.

Food was not good at all, the old lady manager was rude and disrespectful. I ordered pasta with cream and mushroom . The mushrooms were totally disgusting. I eat one of them and left the rest. It took almost 35 minutes to prepare a single plate of pasta. I’ll not come back to this place again.

I was a bit hesitant because of the reviews recently posted here, but we really didn't notice any of that. Friendly and hardworking staff. Therefore, to compensate, here is my positive review. We came with a group of 13 people via the Kruidvat promotion; the order was taken quickly and we didn't have to wait long for the food. The food was delicious, both the pizzas and the desserts. Order is served very late Remote location

This was terrible. We went for the pasta, vague explanation... no pasta. The pizza was barely topped. The service was slow and they spoke poor Dutch. So, a lot of waiting... The lemon ice cream had such a terribly strong flavor, it almost made your teeth fall out... never again.

Nice fast food place, except that the food doesn't move that fast. Small children can play happily, but on Saturday night, do expect to wait 45 minutes for your food (pizza and pasta). Ordering via QR code went smoothly, and drinks arrived very quickly. I get the feeling they could use some extra staff serving; one girl for the entire upstairs was impossible. Fortunately for her, the food didn't come out of the kitchen very quickly.

As with other Happy Italy restaurants, the food is very tasty, but we won't be visiting this location again anytime soon. Finding an empty table was a struggle: the tables were no longer occupied but were still piled high with dirty dishes from departing guests. On Sunday evening (arrival time 7 pm), the wait for the main course was well over half an hour, and the same for dessert. Upon inquiry, the dessert suddenly arrived within 2 minutes. It was clear that there was a shortage of staff, but if the person serving the dishes had immediately taken the dirty dishes/glasses from an adjacent empty table, it would have looked a bit less chaotic. We were seated on the upper floor: it was quite noisy up there, which made it a bit uninviting, but the absolute worst part was that while we were still eating our dessert (and other guests were also receiving their main courses), the tables were being cleared and the chairs were immediately placed upside down on the tables. Sorry... but that was the biggest letdown for us.

The food was tasty and luckily we didn't have to wait too long. The staff, well... no friendliness to be found with our dessert. We ordered 4 coffees, but never received them. When paying, we mentioned that we never got the coffee; no eye contact, no apology, or even a word. Very strange, maybe just glad we didn't get coffee; the lady who was settling our bill shouted to the bar that the coffee wasn't good (this was while we were waiting for dessert). Such a shame, the food is tasty so there is potential, it's just a pity that even friendlier staff work at the McDonald's next door.

Happy Italy offers delicious, good food at a great price. There are often special offers through Kruidvat or Etos, where you can get a two-course meal for €12 per person, which includes a main course and dessert. It's not fancy or cozy, but it's enjoyable enough. And for the price, you get really good food. I had a spicy pepperoni pizza. It had a delicious thin crust, and my partner had a truffle risotto, which was also delicious. For dessert, I had the "Italian mess," which is a combination of meringue pieces, mascarpone, macaroons, and lemon curd. It was a refreshing yet sweet dessert. My partner had the tiramisu, but it was a bit disappointing. It was more like a mouthful of mascarpone than ladyfingers or cocoa. And the Italian mess was still on a plate, but the tiramisu came in a disposable cup. We each had two drinks: a regular one and a more substantial one. These aren't included in the special price, by the way. The two of us spent a total of €46. I'll definitely come back here when the special is available again. It looks like a fast-food chain, but don't let that affect the taste.
