Upon entering, the entire restaurant was filled with smoke. We already had a bad impression, but we gave it a try. We were then given all the available seats, including high chairs next to the stairs near the entrance. We asked for a different seat, which, strangely enough, wasn't possible, despite having made a reservation. When we were told we couldn't get another seat, we weren't even asked if we wanted a drink, and the waitress had already left. The staff was very impersonal and downright rude. Not recommended; look for another Happy Italy or something similar.

It's beyond words! We had a reservation for 4 people, and it was 6:30 PM. When we arrived, the upstairs looked empty from below, and the downstairs was absolutely packed. After waiting 10 minutes, we were assigned to a table next to the stairs without a word of welcome. One of my companions had a leg injury, so we couldn't sit at a high table. We asked the waitress if we could move, but she said no, that wasn't possible. The upstairs was full. The waitress walked away without taking any drinks. The whole place was also blue and smelled of burnt pans. We quickly left, never again in Schiedam.

Upon entering, three staff members stood idle, yet we still had to wait. The restaurant wasn't even half full, and there was only one "reserved" sign at a large table. Yet, we were only allowed a small table where you could see our neighbors' plates and chat with them. When I indicated that I'd prefer more space and a larger table, we were told no, because "two of us" meant a small table and nothing else. We left and won't be back.

Happy Italië in Schiedam is a cozy spot for Italian food lovers. The pizzas and pastas are delicious and freshly prepared, and the menu offers plenty of variety for everyone. The portions are generous, and the presentation of the dishes is appealing. One minor point to note is that it can get a bit busy, and the staff isn't always quick. The service could also be a bit friendlier, but this doesn't detract from the quality of the food. All in all, a great place for a delicious Italian meal, and I definitely recommend returning.

You can order in the restaurant until 9:15 PM (even though they're open until 10:00 PM). We arrived at 9:10 PM after the movie and were turned away. Absolutely unfriendly. We won't be back.

December 3, 2025. Unfortunately, the texting waitress was more focused on her phone than on us. After waiting 20 minutes to order ANYTHING, we said goodbye to the idle chef and went to De Beren, the restaurant next to Happy Italy. There, we got drinks within a minute, and our order was taken incredibly quickly. So, the moral of the story: save yourself the trouble and just go straight to De Beren. The photo shows the drinks we got at De Beren; we couldn't order anything at Happy Italy.

Took a long time to get your food, and it wasn't really busy

Waiting 16 minutes for a Coke and arguing with the employee who calls himself the manager. Disgraceful.

While the Schiedam location used to be a place for a good, quick, and affordable bite, it's now sadly lost its charm. The staff is unfriendly, unmotivated (they walk around in a shambling fashion), and fast. The menu offers a fairly wide selection, but unfortunately, several experiences show that it's the rule rather than the exception that the dishes come out of the kitchen incorrectly and/or cold. When taking our dessert order, the table isn't cleared, and dirty plates remain on the table even when desserts are served. There are no cutlery or napkins on the tables, and when we ask for cutlery, they bring it fairly quickly, but not clean. We were also assigned a table that was still covered in crumbs from the guests before us. The advantage of this location is its accessibility: the nearby train station, the adjacent parking garage, and bicycle parking make it easily accessible.

Pizza was good, service was terrible.

We ate here over the weekend, and the service was nonexistent. We had to wait a really long time to be helped. There were only two people around to help everyone in the restaurant. If you ask for something, it's immediately forgotten. The food was delicious, but not worth the wait. The bench where we sat was covered in crumbs.

The food arrived quickly, even though they said it might take a little longer, which was nice. However, the food was awful. Everything was pre-prepared junk. The pasta pesto was more like cream pasta, no pesto to be seen. The chicken in it looked like it was three days old. The pizza sauce tasted heavy and overly garlicky, and the pizza crust was as soft as can be. Very bad. We won't be coming back here again.

Uninspired "Italian" food. The pizzas used to be okay here, and they had a nicer, more extensive menu, but unfortunately, these days it's no longer recommended...

We ate here with family. It took a while to order. A group of seven people had to wait much longer, which is understandable since their order was larger than others. Another group of two people had to wait even longer for their order. That's ridiculous!! After receiving it, we didn't have any cutlery. We had to wait for that as well. The pasta was delicious, though it could have been cooked a bit longer. There were a few hard pieces. The chicken had a nice flavor. The cocktail was also excellent! The restaurant is clean, attractive, spacious, and atmospheric, easily accessible by car and public transport. It's also good for small and large groups, including children.

Today, after a long time, I went for pizza and then, of course, to Little Italy in Schiedam. What a disappointment! The staff was friendly, but when I order a Coke with sugar, I don't want a Coke with sweetener. And if you say anything about that, sir, we don't have Coke, only Pepsi with sweetener. 😫 I did eventually get a bottle of water. Then my pizza arrived. It wasn't even hot, but lukewarm, and just try cutting a piece with (cutlery)—it's impossible! And look around... everyone's fiddling around with cutting... you can't tell me any of the staff doesn't see this. And then, when I went to pay, I saw that they had added the Pepsi and water to the bill. 😡 This was my last time here. 🤐

Had a bad experience, very disappointing. The food was scattered. The pizza was cold. The toilet was clogged and overflowing. You had to get your own cutlery, or is that the intention? Too few staff, or too many customers for such an evening. A shame. Went home grumpy.

We received extremely poor service at this location. It started the moment we walked in. The restaurant was only 20% full. We had someone with us on crutches, and the staff just stood next to us, chatting (not work-related). This took ages, and when I approached a female employee, I received an angry look. When we were finally shown to our table, it took fifteen minutes before we could order drinks. Our food also arrived after 40 minutes, even though we had ordered two simple pizzas and a pasta dish. A large family sitting next to us arrived at least fifteen minutes after us and received their food fifteen minutes earlier. Even while we were sitting at our table, we received angry looks from the employee I had previously approached. Truly unprofessional! We then proceeded to stuff our food down, but had to leave half of it behind because otherwise we wouldn't have made it to the movie. I've never received such poor service, not even at other locations of this chain.

The location is amazing for the cinema and is ideal for go with kids as they have a play place in the first floor. But unfortunately the food wasn't good the pasta was overcook and for some reasons have an after taste a bit extrange y really don't enjoy the food. I ordered alos a porn start Martini to handle my deception with the food and they gave me the cocktel in a glass without passion fruit even that the menu have it the waitress told me that the usual way of corn start martini with the cup and the fruit is only for the picture en the menu But they don't serve like this 😵‍💫. My sister order a dessert with lemon and longer fingers and she says that was good and didn't tried. The service was kind and fast.

Upon arrival (Wednesday at 5:30 PM), there was no table for three. The top floor was closed due to understaffing. After about half an hour, a table became available, and we asked if we could all eat there, as we'd already been spread out. My husband was sitting alone at a table five tables away. Such a shame 😞 At my request, a thin male staff member replied (to his colleague): "I really don't feel like switching tables or have time. Just leave them as they are." He has absolutely no empathy, but he's a stressed and exhausting man. We were so disappointed in him. My son went over to my husband four times to check on his father, as he's used to eating together...

Upon entering, a server asked if we had a reservation, and the answer was yes. We stood there for another three minutes, and the same server didn't look up or around. After asking again if we had a table (yes or no, we had a reservation), they went to check if there was one (at least 10 tables free). Yes, there was a table. We then ordered drinks and food. After 20 minutes, we asked, "Where are the drinks?" "Yes, they're coming!" And indeed, after a few minutes, the drinks arrived. After 40 minutes (so 60 minutes in total), we asked, "Where is the food?" Three pizzas, one pasta... "Yes, they're coming!" After two minutes, the food arrived. Women's restroom: one working, the other not. Hand soap was gone. Men's restroom: one working, two urinals out of order. Hand soap was gone. 70 euro bill: four pizzas, a bottle of wine, two apple juices. I'm sorry, but this Happy Italy still exists... and there are zero Italian pizzas on the menu! And it's not even full yet!!!! Poor, first-class stuff!

The food and reception were good. The restaurant itself was dirty...dirty chairs...dirty tables...

Great for a quick bite before going to the cinema: tasty food, fast service, and plenty of space inside and on the terrace. What I don't appreciate is the background music. For me, it really detracts from the atmosphere and the quality of the experience when you have to speak loudly to be heard over the noise.

Such a bad service. THE PASTA NEVER COMES! We waited for an hour. Paid a 4€ parking without getting any food. We ordered some pasta, garlic bread, cola and a summer special ice cold tiramisu drink. The cola came without a problem, but the ice cold tiramisu drink wasn’t cold at all and it was missing things that they described so I sent it back and took a while before it came cold without extra things that showed in the description of the drink. The bread was there after a while. But THE PASTA NEVER COMES! Asked the runners but nothing came out of it, so we left.

I can say that it's one of the best restaurants for those looking for a kid-friendly restaurant. You can leave the cinema and other playgrounds and come here with your kids, eat delicious food and hang out in peace. The food is served very quickly at the restaurant. The staff is attentive and polite. The atmosphere is very nice, the interior is modern, the kids love it here. (( But I do have a small suggestion about the water glasses. The glasses come clean but they should use a little more effective detergent. The glasses have a slightly bad smell. Also, water or food was spilled on the seats and they wiped it up but it still looks stained and there are food crumbs. A general cleaning is needed; the space between the seat we sat in and the next was very dusty. This made us a little sad. Such a beautiful place should have good cleanliness control.

The benches weren't in the best condition, stained and sometimes sticky. The food was delicious, though. Staff often only came to our table after we were called, not spontaneously asking if we wanted anything else.

The food was okay, but the restaurant needs a thorough cleaning. Everywhere you look, there's a thick layer of dust, and the windows haven't been cleaned in ages. The couch we sat on was covered in crumbs, and the floor was sticky. The table and menus were sticky. And the staff (except for one) were grumpy. No way, I won't be going back.

We received an unfriendly welcome. The lady who came to help us said we could pick a seat. Because there were many children downstairs, we went upstairs. After 20 minutes, we went downstairs to ask if we could order something, and the lady told us that upstairs wasn't open. We told her that her colleague had said we could sit wherever we wanted. We then sat downstairs, and after 10 minutes, we left because no one came to help. You'd think we'd be helped first, since we were already waiting upstairs, but unfortunately, the people who work there don't understand hospitality and prefer to do as little as possible. The neighbors, De Beren, have much better arrangements!

Super tasty food and drinks. Unfortunately the employees seem very uninterested and not interested in their work. They also chew gum extensively while serving and are constantly busy on their phones.

The staff is VERY SLOW, uninterested and not at all concerned with the guests. When we arrived, we had to wait like idiots at the door for 10 minutes without anyone saying anything or noticing us. And that while it wasn't even busy, it was just a normal Thursday evening. What a disaster. Eating out should be fun, but at this Happy Italy it was one big annoyance from start to finish. One person for the drinks for the entire place (who didn't look up or around), one person for the pasta and the rest were mainly chilling or looking around uninterested. We had to raise our hands several times to even get helped. Everyone in the restaurant was looking around, visibly frustrated because nothing was happening. How dare you offer such a service? It felt like we didn't matter. As if they would rather you get up and leave. And to think that this was a quiet evening. No idea how dramatic it is here on a weekend, but I don't want to think about it. There are so many better places to eat pasta or pizza. Places where you are at least treated as a customer. This shop is absolutely not worth it. Never again.

This was the first and last time. Today we went out for dinner with the family, including two young children. Upon arrival we waited outside for 15 minutes before anyone spoke to us, while there was not even a queue. When we were finally assigned a table, it turned out to be a high table with bar stools that was completely unsuitable for small children. While there were several tables with benches available, we were told that they were reserved for larger groups. Yet there were couples of only two people sitting at them. We found that downright strange and far from hospitable. Once at the table we had to wait 40 minutes for two pizzas. And even that did not go smoothly, one pizza came first, the other only 10 minutes later. No apologies, no compensation, not even a drink offered to make up for the long wait. There is clearly a shortage of staff and a lack of structure. The whole process seemed chaotic. Very disappointing experience.

They brought something different from what we ordered, the waiter wrote down the wrong order. We had to remind someone to come to us, the staff was standing and talking at the bar.

What to say about something nothing. Was nothing and will be nothing. Reservations are pointless and to be tucked away side by side with your nearest neighbors, no thanks. Fled away.

Choice of pasta was only spaghetti, the other types were already available at 5.30 pm 🙄. The salami for the pizzas was also gone. That does make the choice limited. Besides, it tasted good.

Ordered 2 pasta and 2 pizzas, came to pick up, turns out 1 pizza was not available. A lot of hassle, had to indicate ourselves that we wanted another pizza. HI could also have called with this information, now had to wait 20 minutes for a new pizza, rest of the food became lukewarm. No apologies..... Too bad

bizarrely bad service, didn't get cutlery with the food. there was nutella on my plate of cheesy garlic bread (which clearly didn't belong there). it was also under the plate so it was then over half the table. I wanted to report this and when I told a waitress, she just walked away at the end of the sentence?!

Downright disappointing! Knowing that it is a holiday and you can expect a lot of crowds, knowing that you have few staff, knowing that mainly families/small children come because you have an indoor play area... how can you find a waiting time of 90 (!) minutes acceptable? Simply BADLY arranged. I am not a Happy Italy manager but it seems very simple to me. If you have too few staff, you let fewer people in and you communicate to the people who are waiting outside what the actual waiting time is so that they can assess for themselves whether they should continue waiting or whether they should go somewhere else. Now you have a lot of irritated people outside AND inside because you do not communicate honestly. After the long wait, the food also tastes like nothing. Terrible experience, we will not come back.

17.10 arrived. 18.45 our food arrived once before the drinks were taken. Several people complained, some even left because the film had already started. If you said something about it you always get told "it's taking longer because you ordered pasta" The girl who made the pasta was close to crying than laughing. (later heard that she did cry!) Had to do everything by herself. The manager sent a girl upstairs to solve it. Finally got food, pizza bbq was watery and pasta biolognese too. There was a long queue outside and 2 children's parties that were served and arrived even later than us. Too few staff but they constantly let people in. No apologies from the staff for taking so long. They did say we are working on solving this problem for the future, but read here that it was the same months ago so it remains the same. In short, we will never come back here

Upon entering, the staff indicated that the waiting time for the food would be approximately 60 minutes, the actual time turned out to be 120 minutes! The orders for home seem to be taking precedence everywhere because you see them selling like hot cakes. The staff is unfriendly and walks around irritated! Food was good but service was bizarrely bad. No smile and no help. Staff sees you waving but they walk away and don't come back. After waiting 30 minutes, we just got what we needed behind the bar. When paying, the girl was very arrogant and no one asked if something was to our liking. We would have liked a dessert and a drink with the meal but they didn't manage to ask for that.

Messy restaurant, we were seated left at the back near the bar, which looked more like a storage. Service gives little to no attention. Definitely not worth repeating!

I had a delicious meal here with 5 people. The food arrived quickly, the cocktails were good and the staff friendly and attentive. No idea why there are so many bad reviews.

Most of the employees in the restaurant were very ignorant and rude. Employees did not have their hair tied back. I had the pizza quatro furmaggi, the cream cheese was only in a few places and not spread, this made the pizza very dry and soft. I also had a lot of stomach pain with diarrhea after eating. I'm sorry I wasted my money on this, you won't see me again!

The first floor was busy, second floor was completely empty. But waiters don’t want to go upstairs. So we were waiting about 20 minutes for the table. After they’ve found us a table, we were waiting about 10 minutes until the waiter brought us the check with qr-code for the ordering. We made an order with that code, they brought the drinks. After 30 minutes waiter asked if we remember our order, because they can’t find it. In the end I was disappointed with the food taste. Pizza dough was stale, cheese without taste. Spicy hot pasta was just slightly spicy. I even tried the slice of chili pepper with the seeds and it was sweet, not hot! It is the most disappointing experience in Netherlands. Everything with that place is awful. I will recommend that place if someone thinks, that in other restaurants in Netherlands the service is awful. You’ll never forget Happy Italy :-)

Nice place and delicious food but I don’t know why they don’t allow us to eat upstairs to keep an eye on the kids while playing. Stairs are scary for a 3 years old to get down.

It takes a very long time before someone comes so you can order and therefore also a very long time before you get your food. Vegetables in the pasta were not cooked enough and dessert was supposed to be a mix of mascarpone and meringue, but looked more like a cheesecake. The price was good for the portions you get

We bestelde een “ chocolade taart met seizoensvruchten en slagroom” tot onze grote verbazing kregen we een klodder jam als seizoensvruchten. Dit was een enorme tegenvaller.

Normally I don't leave a negative comment and I'm not quick to complain, but this restaurant is TERRIBLE! We arrived at 7:15 PM, other customers arrived fifteen minutes later! At 8:15 PM we didn't have our food yet and the customers who came in later, where the lady had literally ordered the same thing as me, did get their food! Well, you won't see me here ANYMORE! I think it would be useful to hire more staff because you will lose regular customers! Bye hey!

Delicious food and all sorts of customization options for your pizza. There's a children's play area and ample parking.

Pasta Verdure is not to be eaten. Tagliatelle is cold and hard. Vegetables not tasty. Mushrooms not tasty. Sauce is like oil. Really bad. No Happy Italy quality at all.

We had delicious pasta dishes. We had bolognese and spicy chicken, and we also had dessert: torta al cioccalate. They also had birra moretti as a beer, which was also delicious. Definitely recommended if you're planning a trip to the cinema or casino, for example. You can drive there, but it's also easily accessible by public transport.

Service was good, sorry but the food was really hard to keep down. Passion fruit lemonade tasted like cheap wicky and pasta salmone was more of a soup with chunks of salty salmon than a pasta. My husband had the chicken alfredo but he thought it tasted like dough and semolina. Furthermore, nice staff.

Ridiculous service! You shouldn't come here for a “quick bite”. After asking several times where the food was, it just kept taking... 1.5 hours later we kindly left the tent. Terrible service and not friendly at all. Unworthy of Happy Italy, there is little 'happy' about it.

I've been sitting here for an hour and a half. I never got my food. I've asked four times, and "it's coming soon" was the answer. And then they're surprised when I ask to cancel. It's a complete mess, not even worth 1☆!

We waited over an hour for our two pizzas. After asking, one pizza was brought while the second still needed to be made. After 5 minutes, we asked how the pizzas were. It was delivered, but unfortunately, the first pizza was cold and only quickly reheated. Drinks were delivered late. The staff was unwelcoming. There were too few cooks in the kitchen, and the kitchen was not hygienic. Staff were eating unashamedly behind their workstations. All in all, a no-go!

I have no idea what this is all supposed to mean. It's a messy layout. Everything takes an awfully long time. Luckily, there were a few servers who did their jobs well. The menu on the website also doesn't match the menu on the menu. All in all, Khoef won't be back, in any case.

A terrible place. An average wait of 30 minutes for a drink, "it's busy at the bar" (then you'd have to staff your staff differently!). Orders are getting messed up: please, no tomato (the tomato is still on it!) The restrooms are absolutely filthy, with shit smeared everywhere, YUCK! The pizzas tasted fine, but otherwise, it's a complete mess. I'd rather spend my money elsewhere!

Going to the cinema with my daughters. It wouldn't be nice if the ladies had a bite to eat beforehand. After an hour and fifteen minutes, we still had 15 minutes to get to the cinema. Unfortunately, no food yet. Way too busy with too few staff. It seems like there was no consultation with the cinema. Many people had the same idea. And then you get asked to bring it along. No, sitting at the cinema for pasta and pizza is an option then. A brainless and stupid observation. We'll never come here again.

We couldn't get a table upstairs, too few staff. My son can play upstairs in the play area, but of course, you should walk with him for a bit, then you'll understand why there aren't enough staff when they're sleeping on a couch upstairs. Hygiene is also lacking. It's a shame I can't post photos here.

Went to grab some food tonight with family and as we were eating there were 3 mice just running around and when we told personnel they just acted like it wasn’t a big deal. DON’T RECOMMEND!!!

My 5 years old son just had his bday party at the restaurant and it was great, good price great food friendly staff. He loved making his own pizza and even putting it in the oven. Great experience, highly recommended

The food was tasty and the service excellent. Unfortunately, our experience was somewhat overshadowed by mice walking around under our table just after our dinner 😩

I had gone with some friends, who all enjoyed their food. However, I got the seafood pasta with mussels that were atrocious, we were in a hurry so I took them out and left them on the side, but they were not cleaned at all. The flavour of the pasta was great, but I would highly suggest that the food is properly treated before being served. Especially seafood and meats!

After waiting at the front door for a while with five children, we finally got our turn. We indicated we wanted to sit upstairs because of the children. Staff indicated there was a spot available. The manager came and said I'd check upstairs later. Then a spot became available downstairs. We indicated we wanted to sit upstairs. The man snapped, gestured for me to shut up, and then said, "No, you are sitting downstairs!" It was ridiculous. I grabbed my children and left. Don't let anyone talk to me or gesture like I'm a dog. Never come back here again!!

It was freezing cold inside. The food wasn't exciting, but worse than before. Ordered a caramel latte for over €5, which was lukewarm/cold. We won't be returning anytime soon.

With our children we went here to eat after an hour of waiting we got 3 of the 4 pastas ordered. When we asked where the 4th pasta was the waitress looked at us and walked away without saying anything. After 10 minutes she came back to tell us that the pasta still had to be made. We left everything and left. We are eating somewhere else tonight.

The Quattro formaggio pizza was really poorly made. Far too little cheese and layers for a 4 cheese pizza. Was like having a mini layer of cheese on dough with nothing else. Super dry too.

A group of commenters before me are not satisfied with the prices. Think for a moment that everything has become more expensive in the Netherlands approx. Since 2020, pretty continuously. In 2009/2010, for example, one capsule cost 4 euros, nowadays it costs around 10 euros. I know, the salary does not increase at such a rate. Everything will be more expensive, we have to pay more or we won't go to the restaurant.

Ik verbaas me over de negatieve reviews, wij hebben zon heerlijke avond gehad dat ik me genoodzaakt voel een tegengeluid te geven; ruime porties van zeer smakelijk eten (risotto, pasta en pizza's) grote dessert, mooi opgemaakt. Eten/drinken kwam vlot. Kinderen (6 stks) hebben zich ontzettend vermaakt in het speelparadijsje! Bediening was neutraal. Manager kwam vragen of alles naar wens was. For that extra price, there are fewer ingredients in your pasta, so if you want exactly the same thing, it will cost you even more. I believe the ingredients are of lower quality, such as the sun-dried tomatoes nowadays not acceptable. You can no longer order jugs of syrup for the kids, so expensive bottles are expensive. Nowadays they have homemade lemonade which is tasty, but for a glass it costs almost 5 euros, so I think it is too expensive if I have to give 2 drinks to 3 children. And the staff almost everywhere seems to have no interest in anything. And like almost everywhere nowadays, you also have to scan your food yourself with a QR code.
