Het Arnhems Gemaal in Malburgen-West

I'm not a fan of coffee stops during cycling routes, but I make an exception for the Arnhem pumping station. Because you order at the bar, you're not at the mercy of the waitstaff. I always order a slice of caramel nut cake. They bake it all in-house. I've noticed the cake getting better and better over the years. The coffee is good.

The Arnhems Gemaal was still on my list. I've cycled past it several times while cycling along the dike and always think it looks cozy and trendy. Today a friend wanted to cycle to the Decathlon in Arnhem South, and I thought this would be a great opportunity to stop for a cake. There's a wide selection of cakes, and they all seem freshly made. So, the initial problem was the stress of choosing. We decided to choose two to share. Afterward, we still craved a cake, so we even got a third to share. The price of €4.50 per cake is a great price, in my opinion. The view is fantastic, as you look out over the meadows and can see everyone cycling by. The Latte Macchiato also looked and tasted good. They also have a decaf version. You have to go inside to order, which I understand; it means they don't have to constantly keep an eye on the tables outside. I don't like having to wait for it to be made and then even have to take it outside yourself. I actually like finding a spot and sitting down. It would make a difference for me if it were brought to me, and it's not much trouble. Legend 1) Terrible! I advise against it, I'll never come back! 2) Too bad, below my expectations, I won't be back. 3) Okay, nothing wrong with it, but nothing special, nice for a one-time visit. 4) Fine, worth coming back. 5) Excellent! I recommend it, I'll definitely be back!

A (vegan) pearl, no, there is not only vegan, but there is a lot of choice. Went there for the first time today, walked past it during a walk. In any case, the caramel nut tart is very tasty and the atmosphere is nice.

Wonderful spot! But… they do have to learn to make cappuccinos. They make the milk way too hot, which means that the natural sweetness of the milk is lost and the cappuccino is much less tasty (and you burn your tongue). Once they get the hang of this, I will come there several times a week because it is so nice! Delicious homemade pastries too. But that cappuccino is a real shame.

Sit comfortably and quietly. It doesn't feel like you're in Arnhem, just the nature around you. There is a relaxed living room feeling.

Nice lunch room and during dry weather you can sit outside with a view of the floodplains. Wide choice of cakes and normal prices. Cappuccino with date cake was 7 euros. Neat toilet. The building has been kept in its original state and the pump of the pumping station is still there.

A gem when it comes to lunch. All dishes are freshly prepared on site and are super tasty. Nice choice of fresh tea where many combinations of flavors are possible. This place is absolutely recommended.

Driven by many times but never been before. What a nice place this is! Good coffee and plenty of choice to provide my cycling legs with new energy. And a homely atmosphere. Top spot!

Food and coffee offerings are very good at this little cafe away but not too far from the city. A little bit expensive though in my opinion. But I still return for the coffee and carrot cake because both are so good and complement each other very well.

Prachtige lokatie met oude techniek, eten en drinken goed en een prachtig uitzicht, wel veel verkeer vlak voor het terras.

Lekker buiten gezeten, met een mooi open uitzicht

Fantastische plek en ze hebben niet alleen koffie maar ook heerlijke verse thee met allerlei kruiden en mega veel smaken clipper thee opk super. De vers gemaakte taarten zijn ook echt een aanrader. Bijzondere plek en zeker een aanrader. Alleen parkeren is niet heel handig daar en je rijdt de ingang snel voor bij als je niet bekend bent.

Een gezellige bijeenkomst gehad. Thee met gebak en de drankjes en hapjes waren erg lekker.

Koffiestop bij hetvArnhems gemaal (hoewel ik thee had, dat kon ook). Waren met de NDC wandeltocht bezig en dit was een mooie rustplaats.

We hebben het drie keer geprobeerd hier omdat het op 2 min loopafstand zit maar het is gewoon niet goed. De dames die er werken zijn vriendelijk en doen hun best, maar hebben duidelijk geen kaas gegeten van horeca. Het eten duurt erg lang en is vervolgens ook niet bijzonder. Gisteren een half uur gewacht op twee tosti’s. De kaas was nog niet gesmolten en ook de pesto was niet goed verdeeld, het brood niet overal even dik gesneden. Kortom niet lekker. De koffie is ook niet lekker, je proeft dat de machine niet goed wordt schoongemaakt/onderhouden, want dan krijgt het zo’n aparte bijsmaak. De toilet was ook niet goed schoon. Jammer, want het is wel een tof pand op een grappige plek.

Binnen bestellen. Dit tentje is de moeite waard om even te stoppen voor een drankje en een stukje taart. Zit wel aan een grote weg. Relaxt sfeertje.

Ik beoordeel hier slechts de locatie en de koeken die ik er meenam. Deze koek was zalig, een 'boterkoek' smaakte vooral naar de kruimels speculoos ofzo en die + kaneelbun bovendien veel te droog . Eerder heb ik hier op het miniterras gezeten en dat is fijn, spelletjes aanwezig + een mooi vrij groen uitzicht, jammer dat auto's net precies wél over dit stuk dijk mogen . Zelfbediening. het eten / koffie lokt me niet .

Deze review is gebaseerd op onze ervaringen tijdens de pizza avond. Laat ik voorop stellen dat de plek echt leuk is, hier heeft iemand duidelijk zijn best gedaan iets moois te creëren. Personeel was vriendelijk, wel is alles self service. Een super leuk idee om extern iemand in te huren om pizza avond te organiseren. Een pizza over en 5 soorten pizza is het al gauw goed. Helaas vond ik de pizza kwaliteit echt matig. Ik zou dit soort pizza's misschien eerder verwachten bij onbeperkt slices tijdens je bier avond. Was best lang wachten, gemiddeld 11 euro per stuk, zeker niet voldoende voor een volwassene. Maar vooral de bereiding was niet helemaal ok. Pizza's waren te dik, en daardoor niet knapperig. Toppings waren ook niet top. Terwijl bij pizza de kwaliteit van de ingrediënten juist belangrijk is. Wel nog gebakjes genuttigd die zeker lekker waren, wel flink geprijsd. Ik nam de gebakjes mee naar huis en rekende meteen een biertje en wijntje af. Was 36 euro dit was los van de pizza's. We proberen deze plek nog eens buiten pizza avond om, ik update als de rating veranderd.

Wat een leuk plekje! Lekkere koffie met zelfgemaakt gebak, mooi uitzicht en tegelijk een mini museumpje over de wijk. Leuke ontdekking!

Heb lang geleden in die buurt gewoond, kwam er nu voor het eerst, schijnt al 5 jaar in bedrijf te zijn, even een stop met de motor gemaakt, leuk rustpuntje!!!

Het Gemaal noemt zich Huiskamercafe en dat sfeertje stralen ze ook uit. Lekkere koffie met iets lekkers erbij en.. alles zelfgemaakt. Ligt precies tussen de Mandela en John Frostbrug in aan de zuidkant van de Rijn. Helaas niet altijd open. Kijk op Facebook voor meer info. Zeer relaxed allemaal.
