Super cozy place in a unique location. Good food and drinks, excellent service.

A lovely spot for a drink while walking. A cup of hot water with a ginger cube costs over 4 euros. Well, that's normal these days. Less pleasant is that the waiter already shows my place to the next customers even though I haven't even finished half of that expensive glass of water.

Nice and atmospheric restaurant in the Delftse Hout

The three of us (me and two friends) came in for a drink. Upon entering, a young employee told us that the downstairs area was full, but that we could sit upstairs in the conservatory. He also explained that there was no table service upstairs and that we had to go downstairs to order and take it upstairs ourselves. Fine, no problem. We then sat upstairs and calmly browsed the menu to decide what we wanted to order. Another couple came upstairs after us. To our great surprise, they were indeed served upstairs and their order was simply brought upstairs, even though we had been explicitly told this wasn't possible. We thought this was strange, but decided not to say anything at the time. After about ten minutes, I went downstairs to order. I waited there for another five minutes because someone was ahead of me. When it was finally my turn and my order was taken by a man behind the counter, I was suddenly interrupted by a woman of about 30 or 40 with long, dark blond hair. In a very unfriendly, forceful, and unprofessional manner, I was told that we weren't allowed to sit upstairs and that we had to leave immediately because "upstairs was only for groups/parties." At most, we were allowed to sit outside. I pointed out that this wasn't true, because another couple had just sat down upstairs (clearly not a group) and they were even being served. I also told her that her own colleague had told us we could sit there. This was completely ignored. She kept repeating that we had to leave and that we weren't allowed to sit there, let alone order anything. I then went back upstairs to tell my friends, who were just as surprised as I was. Just then, the man who had previously told us we could sit upstairs happened to walk by. My friends asked him exactly what was going on. His response: "Yeah, sorry, you have to go... I said it wrong." We found this completely incomprehensible, since the couple who had sat upstairs after us was still sitting there and was even being served. Downstairs, I spoke to the woman again and explained that her story wasn't true and that it was all extremely strange and contradictory. Her response was, once again, rude, and completely unprofessional: we weren't allowed to sit there and had to leave. In short: it's completely wrong. Conflicting information, arbitrary rules, unfriendly staff, and absolutely no sense of hospitality. I have years of experience in the hospitality industry and have honestly never experienced anything like this. If I could have given 0 stars, I would have without a doubt. A real shame; we'll never be back.

Review update. It was a 5-star restaurant, but after the new owners introduced a very poor menu, the rating was adjusted.

What a disappointment, the new menu. Where have the regular sandwiches gone? And the prices have become ridiculously high. Too bad, our regular spot is gone.

What if you don't like blue cheese or mackerel salad? Where's the fried eggs, satay, or croquette sandwich? Unfortunately, they're no longer on the new menu. I couldn't find much I liked. We'd been going to Het Rieten Dak for years, and it was one of our favorite lunch spots. We were shocked by the new menu. I missed the usual, accessible lunch dishes. The service was friendly, though.

That tent turned out beautifully, what a perfect location for a party. It's also a wonderful place to enjoy a meal and a drink after a lovely walk through nature.

Cozy restaurant in a beautiful location. The surrounding area is perfect for lovely walks. There are ample parking spaces within a 5-minute walk. The restaurant looks lovely. The outside is cozy and tastefully decorated with lanterns and lights. The atmosphere inside is also pleasant. The staff was excellent; friendly and service-oriented. The food (buffet) was delicious with plenty of choices.

What a great party venue! Great service, everything is arranged quickly and expertly. Very friendly. Well-prepared buffets and an extensive drinks menu. It's also situated on a dike between the Bieslandse Bos and the Brasserskade area. A lovely walk and a drink there will make your day complete.

After sitting on the terrace for 15 minutes and watching several waitresses walk by, no one came to ask if we wanted to order anything. We finally got up and left. Very disappointing, and I've never experienced this anywhere else.

The service wasn't exactly smooth, and the "boss" was openly complaining. A lovely terrace and delicious sandwiches, (too) large portions.

During our drive, we stumbled upon Het Rieten Dak. What a wonderful place for a stopover. The chicken salad was more than enough, as was the ham sandwich. Both were generously filled. The service was also very friendly! Afterward, we mentioned to each other several times what a lovely spot this was.

August 7, 2025: I was back at my favorite lunch restaurant. I had a super delicious 12-hour lunch with a bowl of leek curry soup, a healthy sandwich with cheese, ham, and a fried egg, and a sandwich with a veal croquette and a salad roll. Highly recommended! My wife had an Italian roll with spicy chicken. Plus, the seating is so comfortable here, and the service is excellent! So if you're looking for a good lunch, go to Het Rieten Dak!

I'm a vegan. It's not indicated on the menu, but when I asked, I was told I could have the tomato soup and that a salad could be made for me. The soup was delicious, but the salad was especially pleasant. It was the goat cheese salad without the goat cheese, with extra fruit and nuts. But I haven't seen such a rich salad in a restaurant in a long time. Kudos for the thoughtfulness and the service!

Delicious menu. Something for everyone. Good, tasty sandwiches. Well-filled. Delicious soups. We went again today and had the "uitmijter" (bacon and cheese sandwich). It was delicious: 2 eggs, 2 slices of bread, and some fresh salad. The only downside was that the bread wasn't nice and crispy farmhouse bread. It was like supermarket bread. It was tiger bread, but it was soft and not crispy at all. That could definitely be improved. And an early dinner...you can come for that too. Just be on time, because it can get quite busy in good weather. And they're usually only open until 5:00 PM. Beautiful location, and from the terrace...you look out over a beautiful water and enjoy the beautiful nature around you from your seat. A very pleasant place to be and enjoy delicious food.

A very nice place in the middle of the forest overlooking a canal. The food is standard cafe fare, but well prepared. Good beer selection. Friendly and informal service. I really like it and come back as often as I can.

Restaurant Het Rieten Dak in Delft is an absolute must for anyone looking for a cozy dining experience in the middle of nature. The service is fast and personal. What makes this restaurant really special is its unique location. It is beautifully hidden in a nature reserve, so you can enjoy a great view of the surrounding nature from the terrace, giving you the feeling of being completely away from it all, while Delft is still close by. It is the perfect place to relax after a walk or bike ride in the area. There is also a cozy atmosphere inside that invites you to stay a little longer with friends and family. The menu includes many classics, but the bacon-apple pancake is an absolute winner. The flavor combination of the salty bacon with the fresh apple is perfect and the pancakes are always freshly baked. If you enjoy this with a delicious cold La Chouffe beer, your afternoon or evening is complete. In short: a wonderful place, friendly people, beautiful nature and delicious food. Ideal for families!

We had lunch here, and it was delicious! And after a long walk we had coffee with a hazelnut pastry! A nice restaurant to be in.

Op 20/10 koffietafel voor 10 p. besteld, werd koffie geserveerd, moesten dat extra betalen, maar er was geen koffie op tafel, terwijl bij het arrangement koffiekannen op tafel horen die er niet waren vandaar dat we apart koffie bestelden en dan nog extra moesten betalen ook. Nadat ik met 2 vriendinnen een heerlijke wandeling had gemaakt, wilden we een glaasje wijn met een bittergarnituur gaan gebruiken bij het Rieten Dak. Ik liep nietsvermoedend het terras op en een mijnheer ( klein kalend) riep mij terug, waar gaat dat naartoe????? Ik antwoorde dat we wilde drinken en er werd bot geantwoord nou er is alleen nog plek als je wilt lunchen. Ik antwoorde dat we een wijntje met een bittergarnituur wilden, hij antwoorde nou alleen als je flink door eet is er een plekje.. Sorry hoor, dit kan echt niet, dat je je klanten zo afblaft!!!! Beetje jammer dat je zo behandeld wordt!!

Restaurant with a very nice terrace in the middle of the greenery, on a canal. Parking is free, but a little further away (at the Delftse Hout lake, a short walk) or in the park on the other side.

Nice spot for lunch, drinks or drinks.

The coffee was delicious, as was the sandwich. When the weather is nice you can also sit outside.

We arrived on Monday morning so preparation was in full swing. But we still felt welcome.

A cozy terrace in a beautiful location in Delftse Hout park. Fast and friendly service. The menu was modest, but the salad we ordered was good.

We live in America and cycle here every time we come to the Netherlands as a tradition. Last time (7 years) was the first time with children, and our favorite photo of them. So we wanted to do it again with the children 7 years older, but the terrace was closed off for a course. Did they let us in to take that photo? And as always, very tasty coffee, apple pie, and lunch menu in general. We will definitely come back next time in NL.

Beautiful location in nature near Delft. Large terrace with plenty of sun and shade. Staff are friendly and the food was tasty. The thatched roof can be reached by car, but especially if you are walking or cycling, Het Rietendak is a pleasant stopover that is definitely worth it.

Vanmiddag weer eens heerlijk geluncht bij Het Rieten Dak. Genoten van een voortreffelijke erwtensoep met roggenbrood en spek. Een glaasje wijn maakte de lunch helemaal af. Het Rieten Dak is een locatie waar we graag nog een terugkomen. De prijs kwaliteit verhouding is dik in orde.

Zo als altijd leuke locatie met vriendelijk personeel. Maar was er tijdje niet geweest en schrok nu van de idioot hoge prijzen. Ik weet dat alles duurder is geworden maar hier is alle redelijkheid verdwenen. Mij zien ze er niet meer.

Prima lunchplek in mooie omgeving, beetje verstopt bij Delftse Hout.

Fijne plek voor een lekker herfstbiertje in het zonnetje op het terras. Ook leuk om te eten met een groep. Gewoon een gezellige sfeer, aandacht voor de klant en een goed product.

We hebben een feest gegeven voor mijn zoon met familie en vrienden van hem. Het was een top avond. Het is een sprookjes lokatie. Als het donker is heeft de eigenaar met verlichting het prachtig gemaakt. In de stille omgeving is het een beleving. De hapjes waren echt top en het assortiment aan wijn en bier (10 soorten) prima. De zaal (soort van rond)was met statafels erg apart en prima voor onze groep van ca. 70 man. De serre was lekker verwarmd en voor de mensen die moe werden een prima plaats om eff te zitten.

Heerlijke lunch in deze mooie zaak. Vlotte en vriendelijke bediening. Makkelijk parkeren op P2. Aanrader, ik kom hier terug!

Prachtige plek in het groen. Zeer vriendelijk personeel! Lekkere gerechten.

Hartstikke leuke plek aan het water, in het bos. Ik nam de Oosterskip met paprika en ui in ketjapmarinade. Er stond lekker veel op mijn boord en Ik heb zeker heel lekker gegeten. Mijn man nam de gerookte zalm met dillemayonaise. Het vond het wel lekker maar er was heel weinig zalm en wat leek, een halve pak sla. Voor €11,95 was dit wel een dure grap. Ze zouden beter meer zalm en minder slabladen kunnen zetten dan zal het wel erg lekker zijn. Voor de rest is het wel redelijk geprijsd. Personeel zijn heel vriendelijk en beleefd. Ik zal zeker nog een keer terug gaan en zou het iig aanraden voor de lunch.
