Just delicious Chinese food without having to stir-fry.

Whenever we are in Elspeet, we always get some Chinese takeout, sometimes we eat in too. This time we ordered takeout again and it was a bit disappointing. I don't know if it was due to the busyness, but the Tjap Tjoy was really very salty this time, too salty... and on top of that, really almost no meat. Just a few pieces at the top. After previous experiences, it was simply a letdown. The Satay, on the other hand, was super tasty as always, and the Babi Pangang is for tomorrow, so we'll just wait for that.

Food fine and served quickly. Service is a bit lackluster. The prices in the photo from six months ago are possibly takeaway prices. I used the babi pangang as a reference: €16.90 on the takeaway menu, but €23.00 in the restaurant. Generous portions, though. Lots of takeaway customers.

The food is delicious and of excellent quality. Owners and staff are super friendly. More than worth a visit!!!!

Had the pleasure of trying this place out during my trip to the Netherlands. Delicious food, friendly service, and a cozy atmosphere. My two favorite dishes were the Tipan Duck and the Char Siu Pork. Would definitely go again if I find myself in the area!

Yesterday I picked up a monthly menu with fried banana. The chicken satay was bone dry and lacked flavor. The small spring rolls had hardly any filling and the fried banana tasted like nothing; you could just throw it away. A shame. The rest was just so-so.

The air above Elspeet was heavy with the scent of pine when my wife and I, tired from a long bike ride across the Veluwe, settled in at Ho Wah Chinese restaurant. The gold-lettered sign glowed softly in the afternoon sun, as if it had been calling us for years. The village of Elspeet itself, so quiet and contemplative, seemed to pause for a moment when Els leaned her bike against the wall. Inside, the soft rustle of menus, the clacking of cutlery against china, and a conversation that was never too loud, never too emphatic. I read names that seemed simultaneously familiar and exotic: Babi Pangang, Tjap Tjoy, Pisang Goreng, as if I were leafing through a prayer book with dishes instead of psalms. Els, always insatiable in her zest for life, ordered three kilos of bami without hesitation. Her voice sounded as if she were singing a psalm, and the waiter nodded, unsurprised, as if he knew there were people who measure their hunger not in words but in kilos. When the dish arrived, fragrant and steaming, I watched her lift a forkful to her mouth, and I thought: this is the soul of Chinese cuisine—abundant, warm, and comforting. I chose the beef tenderloin with Chinese vegetables. The sauce was dark and full of flavor, the meat tender as if it had been waiting for ages to be savored at this precise moment. Every bite was a memory, as if I were leafing through an old family album filled with photos of times gone by: my father, who once said that rice is the foundation of a meal; my mother, who spoke admiringly of the scents of distant lands. On the wall hung a painting of a river landscape, Chinese in form and color, but in my mind it flowed effortlessly into the streams around the Veluwe, where deer quench their thirst. I saw how cultures intertwine and intertwine: rice and rye, tea and coffee, silence and murmur, loyalty and longing. Els asked for a doggy bag, as if she wanted to take the happiness trapped in bami home with her, to relive it later, when evening fell and the silence of Elspeet enveloped us. I smiled, because that's how she is: dancing on the roof of our van when necessary, but also tenderly fond of leftovers that carry the taste of memory the next day. The people here, I thought, live between forest and church, between rumor and secrecy. In small villages like this, fidelity is praised and infidelity is whispered – but at the tables of Ho Wah, only togetherness matters, sharing a dish as timeless as the surrounding forests. When we got up, I knew this had been no ordinary meal. This was an experience that transcended the words "Chinese restaurant Elspeet." This was Ho Wah: glorious and beautiful, as the name promises. A place where rice isn't just rice, but a symbol of connection. Where bami weighs kilos, but lies lightly on the soul. I wrote later, at home, under the dim light of the lamp: "My wife laughed, the noodles smelled, and I felt small and held. In Elspeet, under the pines and stars, we found ourselves again in the warmth of a Chinese meal."

I'm adjusting it because I didn't get it as much last year. That it was just me, but this year it's not what I'm used to. Beef tenderloin with tausi sauce. It's a shame it's different than before. A different chef?

At our vacation destination, we were looking for a good Chinese restaurant. We were pleasantly surprised. Ajam pangang ketchup was delicious and plentiful, and the combination dish with satay and other treats was also delicious. The service was friendly, and our food was nice and hot. We will definitely be back.

Give a discount on spring rolls if you are 40 cents short

We ate here on Sunday, August 10, 2025. The welcome was very friendly and welcoming. The service left nothing to be desired. Our orders, both drinks and dinner, were served quickly. The food was delicious. The portions were generous. We had a wonderful meal here. (Just like years ago.) If you're looking for a good Chinese restaurant in Elspeet, we recommend Ho Wah.

Warm welcome, good food but very expensive menu

Zeer slechte ervaring, acht of tien garnalen besteld (Naam vergeten, gelukkig). Garnalen zijn door beslag gehaald en in de frituur gebakken. Veel te gaar zat geen smaak aan. Zielig bakje met saus, niet te vreten. Voor de belachelijke prijs van PRIJS 29,00 Euro. Volgens mij denkt deze Chinees dat hij Chinese Haute Cuisine levert Nooit meer!!!

Lekkere zoete tomatensoep, het eten was heerlijk en de bediening was goed. De ossenhaas net gon bao saus is een aanrader. Sate met nasi was ook heel lekker. Je krijgt wel een flinke portie.

Delicious food, many times before

Worthless Chinese!!! After reading the recent reviews we thought well, it sounds good. Unfortunately, it turned out to be absolutely not the case. Tasteless food, ordered babi ketjap you get chicken and when you call and say this it is not correct. Chicken with pineapple in sweet and sour sauce??? Chicken without flavor and dry, sweet and sour sauce is actually just thickened water with a color. Tomato soup should be sweet! Not even remotely tasted. 50 euros lighter and a very bad feeling, so I went out for an extra meal at the Rabbithill holiday park.

Had great service here. We planned to have a snack somewhere in this picturesque village…. Upon some inquiry it turned out that you could spend a wonderful time here. There was no lie about this and I'll leave it at that......

Wordt er snel geholpen en het is lekker eten

Bediening snapte vrij weinig, moesten eerst 1 uur wachten op het voorgerecht toen het na vragen kwam en daarna nog een half uur op het hoofdgerecht. Eten was ook niet denderend. Geen aanrader.

Afhaal maaltijd gehad, oppervlakkige smaak. Ben beter gewend van Chinese restaurants.

Heel hartelijke mensen, royaal en erg lekker eten, vooral t-pan ossehaas! Veel afhaalklanten, in het restaurant zitten we vaak alleen.

Hoge kwaliteit. Supervriendelijke mensen. Zeker niet duur.

Ook kleine porties voor ouderen. Goede bediening. Goede ligging in het centrum. Ruime keuze. Prima kwaliteit.

Het tegen was echt lekker. De sfeer /aankleding is net als in de meeste Chinese restaurants niet echt om over naar huis te schrijven. Wel een aanrader als je gewoon lekkere Chinees wil.

Update 19okt 2022 Vandaag eten afgehaald hier… de kwaliteit van het afhaal eten kan niet tippen aan de kwaliteit van het eten wat we een jaar geleden in het restaurant voor geschoteld kregen. Heel erg zonde ,het biertje wat ik had besteld terwijl ik wachten op me eten rook naar schoonmaakmiddel. Helaas dus van 5 sterren naar 3. ================================ 2021 Heerlijk gegeten hier .vriendelijke bediening ook.het eten zag er goed uit. Restaurant was netjes en schoon. Prijs kwaliteit verhouding dik in orde.

Het was heerlijk..iedere keer weer een feest een gerecht van Ho Wah uit Elspeet

Goede service, vriendelijke bediening en de prijs/kwaliteit is ronduit goed. Een aanrader!

Ondanks de extreme drukte bij de afhaalservice verliep de bediening vlot en vriendelijk. We moesten even wachten op een tweede drankje maar hoorden ook dat de telefoon roodgloeiend stond. De door ons gekozen maaltijden mihoen Singapore en bami Ho Wah waren lekker. De mihoen smaakte goed af. Voor ons zijn de porties voldoende groot of misschien zelfs te groot. Aan het restaurant is parkeergelegenheid.

Afgelopen vrijdagavond bij Ho Wah gegeten. Bij binnenkomst verrast door de twee blonde dames in de bediening. Dit verwacht je niet bij de chinees. De kok was wel chinees zei de serveerster. De bediening ging vlot en het eten stond ook snel op tafel. Mijn vrouw had had KaiTin en Sieuw Agr. Beide gerechten waren heel goed van smaak en de eend was om weg te zuigen, zo mals. De porties ruim voldoende en de bijgeleverde bami en nassi ook goed van smaak. De bediening was goed maar ik vermoed, dat ze er nog niet lang werkten. Het eten werd wat knullig neergezet, Niet even iets op je bord doen o.i.d., maar hier staat het ga je gang. Is niet erg, maar het staat wat onbeholpen. De serveerster was gewoon vriendelijk. Alleen het stopzinnetje "Helemaal goed" zou ze af moeten leren. Mocht je Elspeet komen en trek hebben in chinees, dan kan je hier naar mijn bevinding goed binnenstappen.
