The so hyped buns aren’t bad, but I won’t go back for them again. I prefer to eat these kind of fillings with rice. It’s some kind of a Chinese version of shoarma, pita, so if you are into a fast food like that it’s definitely a good choice. Buns are soft and slightly sweet. Very affordable

We had two dim sum and one noodle soup with two toppings (roast pork and duck), plus hot tea. 37 euros. Our food came quickly and the service was good. After trying another dim sum place nearby, confirmed we were lucky in first try with Hoi Tin.

Authentic chinese restaurant. Kitchen is quite fast even when the place is packed. Service is equally quick and friendly. Overall we found the food a bit too fatty. The restaurant was packed, and due to the rain a bit dirty. The interior looks worn out, a good refresher is due. Prices were good.

Hoi Tin is a place where my family has been getting their pastries and sandwiches all my life. For me, this is true comfort food, and I keep coming back here for the delicious flavors that remind me of my youth. My absolute favorites are the egg tarts, egg rolls and pork buns. The egg tarts are perfect: a creamy, sweet custard filling in a light and crispy dough. Every bite is soft and deliciously sweet without being too heavy. The egg rolls are tasty, light cakes with a subtle sweet taste - great as a snack or with tea. And then the pork buns: the filling is perfectly seasoned, with juicy pork wrapped in soft, slightly sweet steamed dough. Truly a classic that never disappoints. 🍰 The offering at Hoi Tin goes further than just these favorites. They also have other traditional Chinese pastries such as wife cakes, mooncakes (seasonal), and savory snacks such as the sausage rolls. Everything is made fresh, and you can really taste the authenticity and care that goes into every product. The business itself is small and simple, but that just adds to its charm. IF YOURE PLANNING IN COMING HERE MAKE A RESERVATION!!!!!! We did not and had to wait half an hour which we didn’t mind btw :) but next time we will make sure to Service and location was super nice! The toilets are very clean and modern The dishes were amazing and their milk tea is indeed made in-house 🥹🥹 We left super stuffed and satisfied and would come back again anytime!

As a Chinese, I have to say this is a not-bad Chinese food restaurant you can get from a foreign country. Only one thing disappointed me is Chicken feet and steamed ribs tasteless. , the meat and skin of the roast duck are too thick and the dough is very hard, the rice roll skin is too thick. Recommend the XO sauce carrot cake.

I have been coming here for dim sum dinner with family and friends for several years. Everyone loves the food, whatever we choose. The staff is also very nice, helpful and creates a nice atmosphere.

I ordered several dishes, I found crispy pork is the best I ever had in life, the crispy part was the best, it was not hard and not oily and the meat part was really tender, perfect combination and the rest was also delicious. I took some bakery back home too! The bbq bun was so good. I will go back soon for sure.

If I could've given HoiTin zero stars, I would've. The workers at the bakery are so ridiculously rude. Or they are just tired. It is December 30th, 2024. After a long walk, we finally found this bakery. After a long wait, we started ordering, and not long after, out of the blue, shit hit the fan. The lady took a bun from the display, bent to the floor, only to come back up and put the bun in the paper bag. In a playful way, I asked, smiling: "Just to be sure, the bun didn't fall on the ground, right?" to then continue looking at what else I craved. While I was looking for my next bun to order, the lady got mad and started yelling that, of course, the bun didn't fall on the floor. Why did I think that? How would she sell something that fell on the floor? If I didn't trust it, I shouldn't buy there. Then her colleague came by to ask what all the commotion is about. I didn't even understand what just happened. I was still flabbergasted. Then I told her that it looked like the bun fell on the floor because her colleague ducked under the counter and came back up and put it in a paperbag. She said that there was a drawer(?) or something there, why would I think that they would sell food from the floor. If something fell, they would throw it away. I replied that that was a good thing, but I couldn't see what they are seeing, since I'm in front of the counter. (Mind you I was still figuring out what just happened.) She continued to say that if I didn't trust it, I shouldn't buy there. There are so many customers, so the quality is high, etc, etc. So... we have the same high standards, but they chose violence, over confirming that of course, it didn't fall on the ground. On top of yelling, they also made me feel so uncomfortable by showing their arrogance because they have enough clients and made it clear they don't need me. Obviously, they don't need me. I was just buying a box of 8 buns and looking for a snack from my childhood to show my little daughter, but a little customer service goes a long way. The way they defended their "high quality, hygiene" with their life, made me question the actual hygiene of this place. I can't think of a reason why one would get this angry for such an innocent question. I wasn't even angry or anything. The only thing that comes to mind why they are defending it with their lives because in reality it is not that clean. I see no other reason why you want a first-time customer to feel that way. This family owned and operated traditional Chinese restaurant is a hidden gem. No wonder the local Chinese come here on a regular basis. We had our table for 4 filled with the most delicious dishes (5x dimsum, duck rolls, crispy noodles, pangsit and springrolls, topped off by sesame balls and Chinese ice cream) for under €30 pp. Insane. Unlimited tea as well. Loved it. Fantastic service by the children of the family.

The best Chinese food I’ve had in Amsterdam. The pictures don’t do it justice! The sweet and sour was phenomenal and the dumplings were super tasty! Go hungry and don’t be shy to order large. We had 3 main dishes, dumplings and beers and came to €90. Please check it out!

Food was incredible but service not so great. We stood in line at 19h00 for about 20min to get in without a reservation - totally fine though and worth it as the main dishes were great. They were incredible busy which is understandable but at the end of our main meal, 25min after being served our main meal our starter was still not out when we were done and ready to pay and go. The server said that if it was coming out and made already so we needed to take it and pay for it, this is not acceptable in my opinion. Our meal was done, we were done. I refused given we were were done and it doesn’t make sense for us to wait and pay for this delay. She then went away to get the bill and lo and behold the starter comes out 30min after our main was served, literally as we already have our jackets on and ready to pay. Anyway, this was just getting silly so as she was taking a while to get the bill we just packed it up and paid for it all and left. Would I recommend the food? The sweet and sour pork was one of the best I have had! The milk teas was just as 🤤 Would I go again and order any extras? Absolutely not, no guarantee it will even get out while you are eating the rest of your meal. I recommend just getting a takeaway, leave the service for another restaurant.

Very Bad service. We decided to have lunch and we waited for 20mins for our food then followed up and was told that it’s still going to take 5mins or we can cancel. Waited another 10mins then followed up again and was told we should wait and rudely advised we should just cancel order. So we cancelled and left. Not worth visiting.

Wij hebben hier met zijn 2en heerlijke dimsum gegeten. Het was een vrijdag en we hadden geen reservering, maar omdat we vroeg waren was er nog net plek. Goede kwaliteit jasmijnthee, die niet op de rekening stond, heel netjes. Personeel was heel erg vriendelijk en dacht goed mee met keuzes maken. De dimsum waren stuk voor stuk heerlijk, wij hadden vooral vega en vis. Je kan ook om chili olie vragen, staat niet standaard op tafel, dus goed om te onthouden! Zal hier zeker een keer terugkomen!

Brought a friend here for dinner on a Friday eve and we were really looking forward to it. I had only known the bakery items but was confident that we would have a great time. Reservations highly encouraged (easily done online), as it is super busy with people queuing for walk-ins. Though they seemingly have a lot of staff, they yet seem a bit overwhelmed with the overall occupancy. Once we were seated in one of the various rooms we did choose everything to our liking on the designated ordering form. It took the staff some time to realize we had been done, and they were in such a rush that this nearly prevented us to add drinks but we successfully did. We were asked whether we wanted our dishes in phases of appetizers and mains, but we opted for everything as soon as it was ready, which might have been the better choice, given that some of the food took very long to be brought out. Highlights: • Peking Duck Pancakes - super yummy only downside was that the pancakes already arrived cold • Roasted pork belly - top notch Lowlight: • Xia Long Bao - quality of those was really questionable, super dense, nearly no soup inside Overall we had the feeling that the atmosphere and the food was very great and reminded us a lot of our times in Asia. The establishment is way bigger than expected and the service might be lacking a bit when it comes to the speed. But everyone was super friendly, and the mass of people might be a bit overwhelming. Extra points for the super refreshing and yummy homemade lemon ice tea.

Great restaurant and authentic cuisine. Fast and very professional service. The menu is ultra comprehensive, I highly recommend the beef with onions which was sublime. It's best to book, but even without a reservation, if you're willing to wait a little, they'll do their best to find you a table quickly. Excellent time, thank you!

Best Chinese restaurant I have ever tasted

I recently dined here and unfortunately, my experience was disappointing. The spring rolls were overly greasy, which overshadowed their flavor. The food overall didn't meet my expectations; the chop seuy was bland and lacked any seasoning or creativity. It felt quite uninspired. Given this experience, I wouldn't choose to return.

The dim sums are very authentic, reminds me those we had in Hong Kong, almost as good as those we have in Toronto 👍🏻👍🏻. Among them, the bbq pork steam rice roll is my favourite, though the siu mai is also very tasty! The deep fried shrimp dumplings were freshly made for sure. The services are good and attentive! Price is reasonable. We were there at around 3pm but still lots of people, luckily there wasn’t any lineup. There’s also a counter selling pastry and buns! The washroom/toilet is very clean btw!

One of the best dining experiences we've had in Amsterdam. We went for dinner one night and the food was absolutely delicious and the wait staff were super kind and friendly. Food was fresh and full of flavour and was brought to our table within minutes. We ordered two starters, two mains, rice and drinks and our total was in and around €60. We also went to their bakery in the morning and it was just as good as the dinner. My partner had the pork bun and I had a custard bun, both were beautiful, each pastry cost €2, very reasonable especially for what you get. We can't wait to visit again!

What else to say about this homey place? If you are in China Town and want to indulge in yummy dimsum bites, this is the place!! The rice rolls are sooo delicious here, especially the ones with shrimp or BBQ pork fillings. If you are with a big group, I recommend ordering the mix platter of cha siew, pork and duck. Heavenly combination 🤤 Don’t forget to order some rice to accompany the meal, and of course their garlic stir fried veggies. Another favourite is their stir fried rice noodles (the brown looking one) What keeps me coming back is the warm and friendly service here. It just makes you happy honestly!!

Looks really Asian, small, I think there are a lot of Asians so it seems like a guarantee for the original recipe, the sandwich shops are sold out, the message was to be there before 1400 hours to be successful

Great option for dim sum. The prawn rice rolls and tofu sheets wrapped with prawn were great, and the pork gyoza recommended by the waiter were also great. The salted egg yolk buns (liu sha bao) were good but not liquid or flavorful enough. The steamed cha siu bao were also good. We also took home a sampler of the small mooncakes for Mid-Autumn Festival; these were good and provided variety but were nothing special as the filling paste was not strongly flavored. The best mooncake flavors were the taro, green bean, and black sesame. Larger ones with salted yolks might be better. The wait was longer and there was not a lot of space to sit or stand while waiting, but the staff was very friendly.

I got the mixed platter (BBQ pork, Crispy Pork and Duck) with fried rice in stead of regular white rice (+€3,50). 1. Food: - bbq pork: a bit dry liking - crispy pork: really good (nice crisp, satisfying fat ratio)! - duck: comes with the bone, I really prefer duck without, but maybe that’s just my preference. Other than that was ok. - fried rice: nothing special, just good! BBQ sauce: very nice, but additional chilli sauce was really needed for this meal tbh. 2. Service: fast, polite, serious. Just what you expect, nothing bad to point out on this. 3 atmosphere: not really an atmosphere, but everyone is here for the food anyways. 4. Price: fair price, good portions! Overall rating: 7/10

The method of preparation was fine, but the portions were terribly small, much smaller than before. Checked the bill but strange surcharges for crispy noodles, a surcharge of 1 euro MMMM probably a surcharge for crispy frying, sheesh. I hope I don't also get a surcharge for picking up a cooking pan. 1 euro for ho-fan sauce extra now Now, that's about if you order a steak but have to pay a 1 euro surcharge for the butter to fry the steak. There was always tea for the Chinese on the house, but apparently that has stopped. The noodles with beef cost less than 2 euros to buy because I also have a restaurant myself, the sale was 18.50. Oh well, in Amsterdam the tourists will pay because they won't be coming back for a while, neither will I

Editing my review as I tried their bakery yesterday. They didnt have the custard ones but wow the pork buns were soooo good!!! My family and I went here for lunch! The Dim sum was absolutely delicious along with the chinese cabbage. It does take some time for the food to come out, but everything was a hit! 12/10 would recommend the honey bbq pork buns + shanghai dumplings ❤️

Very good Chinese cuisine, excellent roast duck. Very good and honest service was observed. Adequate prices and contents. The negative fact was due to the waiter who served us, I suppose because we were tourists: forcing and sneaking unnecessary dishes into the order, dishes that did not reach the table, although they did appear on the bill. Then he seemed upset that we reviewed the account.

I went to Hoi Tin for dinner a few times, what a great restaurant! A large menu with extensive different choices. Also super tasty! The staff is very friendly and hospitable, I felt very comfortable every time I have been here. It is also within walking distance of Amsterdam Central, so ideal! Overall highly recommended :)

I come here quite often. The food is always fresh and tasty. I always leave here full. The price is a bit above average, but then you get what you pay for!

Such a pity I had to queue for 15 minutes for the Hoi Tin bakery. When you get home it's disappointing. All cakes are soggy and the egg tarts are soft. The crust should be dry and crumbly. All cakes are soggy. Looks like they came out of the fridge. Quality has deteriorated greatly. Quality control taste what you sell.

Whenever I’m in the mood for a casual Chinese meal, Hoi Tin is my go-to spot. I’m a big fan of their dim sum and often order a soup to go along with it. The oysters are another highlight that I really enjoy. I’ve been there more than 10 times already, and it never disappoints. Definitely recommend it if you’re looking for a great casual dining experience.

Good service. The duck with its pancakes were good but nothing more. Comforting wonton soup. Very good rice pasta rolls but I took away 1 star because they arrived after I had finished eating the other dishes.

Hoi Tin Restaurant was fantastic. The food arrived quickly, and the central location is a real plus. Though it’s located in the touristy area, but the food was delicious and the prices were quite reasonable. We haven't tried many dishes but the peking duck and roasted pork belly are definitely must-try. Overall, it was a great experience.

Positives: * staff was super nice and helpful * dim sum was overall very tasty * the place was larger inside than it seemed from the outside, and the ambience was nice * free flowing tea and homemade chilli oil on demand was quite nice * food was served quickly, and anything else we asked was also promptly delivered * shrimp cheung fun were downright unbelievable, delicious stuff Negatives: * their black tea wasn't my favourite (big fan of oolong here but good luck finding it outside of Taiwan) - though my lady loved it * we were sat next to a huge family table with kids screaming to the point it was physically painful. When they left, they were immediately replaced by staff with another large family with screaming kids previously sitting nearby, in spite of the fact the staff spontaneously apologised about the kids before moving the new family over * the deep fried shrimp dumpling came to us still sizzling, which was nice, but also soaked in oil as a consequence. One minute or so in paper towels might have made a big difference, there * cheung fun only had two shrimps per roll (usually it's 3 in most large dim sum places) and still cost 8.5 euros per portion, which may be fine for you, but it's lower than my expectations in terms of bang for buck Note: I'm frankly a super demanding customer. In spite of the negative points listed above, I'm 100% coming back to this place whenever I feel like celebrating again. Try it.

Saw this from a reel from Karissaeats, glad that i’ve listened to her advice. I’ve never tried chinese bakery items so i went in it not knowing what to expect. Loved it, though some items might be an acquired taste. I recommend the pork ball and the egg roll its the softest thing you will ever eat.

We went to get the buns they sell and came back a second time to buy the ones that were out of stock the day before. Better to arrive early in the morning because after 1:00 p.m. some are already sold out.

Recently had dinner here with my aunt. You can really see that time has stood still when it comes to food. Food was bland and no taste. Not recommended to eat here again as the service was also poor. When paying, the staff dare to charge us their own tip. They determine the tip and not us. That's too crazy for words. Never got the tip back!
