Had a great meal. Excellent menu. Hong Kong style food. Pricey for what you get, but that's Chinatown in Amsterdam. Well worth a visit.

The restaurant is nicely located in the city center. Good and fast service. However, the dim sum is quite good, but still it is not authentic enough. The Cheung Fun is a little too chewy. The Siu Mai and steamed custard buns are okay.

Traditional Chinese food, just as I like it. Nothing fancy, but the dishes are super tasty. The kitchen is very fast and the service friendly! On the weekend it’s best to book a table; the line infront of the door can get long.

I bought buns from Hoi Tin. All of them are great! I really love pork bun and custard bun! The price is really affordable! You can buy a lot of them, keep it in fridge and heat it with air fryer. It’s gonna be a bit crispy on top!

The bakery is to die for! Very delicious and cheap bread! All are very tasty but my favorite is the pork bun, pork pastry, and the custard bun! Perfect for quick bite or lunch

Beautiful location in Amsterdam's Chinatown center. On the Zeedijk. Nice appearance from the outside. Lovely atmosphere inside. Friendly staff. This place has the best tsa siu Bao. The most delicious custard and egg tard buns. Of all the places in the whole of the Netherlands that sell tsa siu Bao, they score the best! Lots of filling and well-seasoned! We got it to take away warm! Even tastier! So The Pork Bun is the best in the NL! I will definitely be back to buy more! Definitely worth repeating!

As a Taiwanese person, I found the food completely unfamiliar. The seafood hot pot was made with a bunch of fish paste, a perfunctory and half-hearted attempt to pass off inferior ingredients. The stir-fried beef also lacked flavor, feeling like sauce had simply been poured over the meat slices. Plus, there was so much thickening agent that I felt like I'd fallen into the Taijiang Inner Sea and was eating there. However, the portions were very generous; I was quite full. The service staff were also very friendly, so I give them a thumbs up!

Having found a good rating on Maps and a recommendation from our guide, we went for dinner. It wasn't bad, but it's not a great dim sum bar... We've had much better in many other places. It's good for satisfying a craving and eating at a fairly cheap price for the city, but little more than that.

Love this place, one of the best in Amsterdam

I had dinner here with a friend in early August. I ordered chicken feet, steamed buns, and wonton soup, all of which were delicious. The waiters (who seemed like younger guys to me) were very friendly, which was a great experience. It's only one street away from the red-light district, so we went to explore it after dinner as it was getting dark.

This long-established Chinese restaurant has decent dim sum; I especially recommend the lemon tea.

Was quite excited to try this place, but ended up walking out. The waiter asked for my drinks order so I asked for a coke then requested a glass of water. Was told they can't serve water unless I buy a bottle of water. Given I was already buying a coke and food, I felt that was ridiculous. Maybe I'm too strict on these things (and I understand that here it's not obligatory like in other parts of Europe), but if I'm buying food and drink I don't think a glass of tap water is too much to ask for as well. Ridiculous. For that alone I cannot recommend this place.

The food was good, but quite expensive. The service was just okay. It's outrageous that a 750ml bottle of water costs €7.50.

First experience with Hoi Tin. Had a very tasty meal, very friendly and hardworking staff, and good portions. The buns are also highly recommended (very greasy, but delicious!). The ambiance is fine, not mega luxurious. Prices are fine in themselves, but it cannot be compared to your local Chinese takeaway in some backwater. It is a fairly popular place, partly because they once went viral on social media. As a result, you might sometimes have to wait quite a while before you can go inside to eat or pick up food.

The buns here are INSANE! You have to try all of them! Staff are super friendly and prices are surprisingly low. If you’re getting takeout from the bakery you don’t have to wait in line.

We stopped by around 11 a.m. and got one of each pastry that was on display. The traditional Cantonese pastries had just been baked, so everything was still warm We tried several different fillings and loved every single one, but the pork pastry was my absolute favourite :) The dough and the way the pastries look really reminded me of Ukrainian pirozhki))

Had dim sum here with good service. The inside is nice. The shu mai and kai lan were both pretty good. We wanted to grab some egg tarts on the way out, but they had already run out. :(

The food is of lower quality; someone else might like it, but for me, it was a one-time experience—way too greasy and tasteless.

We were recommended this place by the fritter tour operator we booked in Amsterdam, and it was a fantastic choice. So much so that we went back twice for dinner. The food is delicious, and they serve generous portions. They also have 1-liter bottles of water, which, although it might seem trivial, is a nice touch—since you're paying a fortune for water, at least it's a big bottle! There were three of us, and we ordered fried rice with egg, rice noodles, and spring rolls (two in a pack). Everything was really good. It's right in the heart of Chinatown. The service is quick and attentive; we didn't have a reservation, and they seated us right away, took our order, and served us. They give you the menu and then another slip of paper where you write down what you want. We definitely recommend it.

We have been coming here for years and the food was always good. The service was sometimes stiff. Now it has become more modern and so has the service. The food was delicious, as always.

It’s white rice mixed with peas and eggs and shrimp and stuff. Worst 20€ spent on anything actually. Roast duck is dry and roast pork belly is tasteless?! Only saving grace is the Charsiew, rice rolls, fried shrimp dumplings maybe the Xiao long Bao…. Save your money please unlike me 😭🙏🏻 (go to sea palace for Peking duck) Also girl serving us was sweet but overall lacked service and very the dishes was very catering to the western Asians please don’t come here , ok thanks

😅What does this mean? This Chinese restaurant only serves foreigners? I waited for half an hour, and all the other people who arrived later had their tables full, but I only had a pot of tea. I asked twice, and then all the food came out at once. 😂

Just picked up some pastries. The TanTa (egg pastries) were not fresh! They are from yesterday. The dough was soft and not crispy. Very disappointing.

Great chinese specialty restaurant, the plates are served generous and tasty. A bit expensive overall but this is the price of quality + quantity here. The cook was great with balanced spiciness particularly on my curry fried rice. The service also was great even if we came really late. Definitely a good spot in the famous red district, the chinese way.

The beer, lemon home made ice tea, dumpling, sweet and sour chicken, white rice and fried rice are all amazing. The portions are not too big but they are okay.

Food: A great dimsum joint in the middle of Amsterdam's red light district. Dimsums took a while to arrive, but is worth the wait. The Shrimp Dumpling seemed fresh and well prepared. We loved the Chives Dumplings too. There were tons of flavor with every bite. Ask for chili and soy sauce to make it better. We also had a modified version of the Crispy Noodles without the Beef. Sauce really seeps in the noodles and vegetables. Service: Our server was friendly, knowledgeable, and made great recommendations. Reservations recommended. Ambiance: Classic Chinese restaurant vibe. Great for friends hangout and family gathering. It could get loud on busy meal times. Value: Prices were reasonable for the quality of food and service.

Came here only for the pastries because I really wanted to try an egg tart! Got two of em, and so tasty! Also came back another day and got a Pandan roll, also quite good! So fluffy and moist. Didnt take any photos sadly bc just devoured them

The food is quite delicious, fast service since it is not busy yet. Pork siumai and xiao long pao are served hot but other dishes are just sufficiently warm. We find the prices pretty high for the portion compared to nearby restaurants. But somehow it makes sense given the location. Good place to go once in a while but not frequently. The service could be better if we get more hospitality from the (male) staffs. Could be because of language barrier that we didn’t get as much soft attention as we’ve expected.

Typical Chinese food. It's tasty, nothing super special, but if you're passing through and looking for something "safe," it's a good place to eat and reasonably priced.

This is great place to eat wonderful authentic Chinese dishes. Our super friendly host Timmy had great suggestions for our menu, varying from a classic hot and sour soup, to excellent Dim Sum and very tasty main courses, which included duck, pork (2x), chicken and deep fried fish. All of them very full of flavor and gave us a great dining experience! Will definitely come back here!

It's a pleasure to confirm that, despite the passage of time (2018) and how the city changes, establishments with such a long history as Chin. Restaurant Hoi Tin are still operating. This restaurant is a true landmark on Zeedijk Street. For those of us who frequented this area years ago, finding this place still going strong is a sign of perseverance in a neighborhood that's always on the move. It's a historic emblem of the area that deserves recognition for its longevity and for keeping the soul of Amsterdam's Chinatown intact.

Hoi Tin is has consistently been one of my favorite Chinese restaurants in Amsterdam for nearly a decade. The food is so good every time and the service is great too!

We clearly indicated that we wanted to share a meal. We received two bowls and assumed the first bowl contained the noodles. Because there were only 5 pieces of meat in it. A little later the second bowl arrived; thankfully. Otherwise, it would have been very minimal. Then we received the bill with *two* dishes on it.🤷🏼‍♀️ When we explained that we had really only ordered one dish and had mentioned several times that we wanted to share it, the answer was: you ate both dishes and must pay for them. After some haggling, €10 was deducted. The boy who served us was super friendly, by the way. But we couldn't get in touch with the lady we had ordered from...

I really loved this place. After a full day of sightseeing around Amsterdam, especially walking through Chinatown, it was the perfect stop. The food was delicious, and I especially loved the beef with onions. Everything was excellent and I truly enjoyed it. The service was also fantastic — very friendly and attentive. I didn’t get the chance to try the bakery, even though I heard it’s amazing… but I will definitely come back 😊

It used to serve real Cantonese food, but the last time I visited the taste is off. Also the bakery changed too.

The classic iconic pork bun was delicious and a great quick snack at a reasonable price. The custard bun was a delightful surprise and incredibly creamy and perfectly sweet. Highly recommend trying it out, but don't go out of your way for it.

A very friendly welcome. It feels like coming home after years. Friendly, good service. The Dim Sums are highly recommended; when my daughter and I arrived, there was already a line in front of the bakery, which is known for its Buns. Luckily, we had a reservation, because on Ascension Day there were even people queuing. Wonderful flavors, and allergies were taken into account very well. Worth the trip, I would say. A quaint little place in the noisy Chinatown of Amsterdam. Service took a while, but it was quite busy. Got some soup dumplings (unfortunately didn't have soup in them), cha siu pork buns, and wanton soup. The soup dumplings were served with a vinegar that tasted more like malt vinegar rather than traditional Chinese rice vinegar. No tap water also. Sweets with the bill was nice

Sorry, owners / workers seem nice but the food was not it. Too oily, doesn’t taste like authentic Chinese food. Ice tea was okay. Beef noodles and dim sum - no. Don’t believe the hype.

A truly authentic Chinese restaurant. The food arrived quickly and everything we had was excellent. Kung Pao is highly recommended.

I went there somewhat by chance, and it was a very good choice. The staff is very attentive and responsive. And the portions are very generous, which justifies the high prices. There's a wide selection of Chinese specialties. The place is spacious, and despite that, when I left, there was already a line of customers waiting. I highly recommend it!

We’ve been here for dim sum. I like all kinds of dumplings/dim sum so much that I am not really picky. They had decent amount feeling, not over boiled, and I was quite happy. Steamed were tastier than boiled. But a friend of mine (who is Asian and had a lot of access to dim sum there) said that the dough was much thicker than it should and dim sum were very okay. Service was nice and fast and the interior pleasant.

At Hoi Tin's bakery, you immediately notice what it's really all about: no fuss, just well-baked classics. I got three buns: the classic pork bun, the sweet bun, and a Hong Kong muffin. The pork bun is exactly what you hope for: juicy, generously filled filling with beautifully seasoned meat, in a soft, slightly sweet bun that is perfectly baked. Comfort food at its best. The sweet bun is simple, but strong precisely because of it. Slightly sweet, airy, and perfectly balanced. The Hong Kong muffin is along the same lines: super fluffy, with a fine, subtle sweetness without being heavy. These aren't complicated products, but that is precisely where the strength lies. You can clearly taste the routine and craftsmanship of a place that has been doing this for years. With a price of around €2.50 per bun, the price-quality ratio here is simply very good. The service was friendly and efficient. I would have liked to try the egg roll, but at 10:30 I was still too early for that, a good reason to come back again soon.

I don't know why this place got decent reviews. Went there for dim sum; the selection was very limited and repetitive. The prawn dumplings were inedible; complained to the waiter. They did not take that off the bill. Go down the street for better food.
