one of the worst Chinese restaurants I ever had, the food is really greasy and bad. Highly don’t recommend!!!

I only bought pastries at the bakery. You need to go early in the afternoon because they sell out fast. The pastries are made fresh daily and are really really good.

Nice, big place. I had noodle soup with wide noodles. You can choose two toppings for it. I also had dim sum, but the soup alone was actually more than enough! Good price too, and tasty tea.

Great chinese specialty restaurant, the plates are served generous and tasty. A bit expensive overall but this is the price of quality + quantity here. The cook was great overall with balanced spiciness particularly on my curry fried rice. The service also was great even if we came really late. Definitely a good spot in the famous red district, the chinese way.

DO NOT ORDER FRIED RICE I don’t know why I keep trying Asian places in the Netherlands becuase it’s all so extremely disappointing The “fried rice” is not fried …. It’s white rice mixed with peas and eggs and shrimp and stuff. Worst 20€ spent on anything actually. Roast duck is dry and roast pork belly is tasteless?! Only saving grace is the Charsiew, rice rolls, fried shrimp dumplings maybe the Xiao long Bao…. Save your money please unlike me 😭🙏🏻 (go to sea palace for Peking duck) Also girl serving us was sweet but overall lacked service and very the dishes was very catering to the western Asians please don’t come here , ok thanks

This is great place to eat wonderful authentic Chinese dishes. Our super friendly host Timmy had great suggestions for our menu, varying from a classic hot and sour soup, to excellent Dim Sum and very tasty main courses, which included duck, pork (2x), chicken and deep fried fish. All of them very full of flavor and gave us a great dining experience! Will definitely come back here!

Hoi Tin is has consistently been one of my favorite Chinese restaurants in Amsterdam for nearly a decade. The food is so good every time and the service is great too!

It's a pleasure to confirm that, despite the passage of time (2018) and how the city changes, establishments with such a long history as Chin. Restaurant Hoi Tin are still operating. This restaurant is a true landmark on Zeedijk Street. For those of us who frequented this area years ago, finding this place still going strong is a sign of perseverance in a neighborhood that's always on the move. It's a historic emblem of the area that deserves recognition for its longevity and for keeping the soul of Amsterdam's Chinatown intact.

We clearly indicated that we wanted to share a meal. We received two bowls and assumed the first bowl contained the noodles. Because there were only 5 pieces of meat in it. A little later the second bowl arrived; thankfully. Otherwise, it would have been very minimal. Then we received the bill with *two* dishes on it.🤷🏼‍♀️ When we explained that we had really only ordered one dish and had mentioned several times that we wanted to share it, the answer was: you ate both dishes and must pay for them. After some haggling, €10 was deducted. The boy who served us was super friendly, by the way. But we couldn't get in touch with the lady we had ordered from...

I really loved this place. After a full day of sightseeing around Amsterdam, especially walking through Chinatown, it was the perfect stop. The food was delicious, and I especially loved the beef with onions. Everything was excellent and I truly enjoyed it. The service was also fantastic — very friendly and attentive. I didn’t get the chance to try the bakery, even though I heard it’s amazing… but I will definitely come back 😊

It used to serve real Cantonese food, but the last time I visited the taste is off. Also the bakery changed too.

The classic iconic pork bun was delicious and a great quick snack at a reasonable price. The custard bun was a delightful surprise and incredibly creamy and perfectly sweet. Highly recommend trying it out, but don't go out of your way for it.

A very friendly welcome. It feels like coming home after years. Friendly, good service. The Dim Sums are highly recommended; when my daughter and I arrived, there was already a line in front of the bakery, which is known for its Buns. Luckily, we had a reservation, because on Ascension Day there were even people queuing. Wonderful flavors, and allergies were taken into account very well. Worth the trip, I would say. A quaint little place in the noisy Chinatown of Amsterdam. Service took a while, but it was quite busy. Got some soup dumplings (unfortunately didn't have soup in them), cha siu pork buns, and wanton soup. The soup dumplings were served with a vinegar that tasted more like malt vinegar rather than traditional Chinese rice vinegar. No tap water also. Sweets with the bill was nice

Sorry, owners / workers seem nice but the food was not it. Too oily, doesn’t taste like authentic Chinese food. Ice tea was okay. Beef noodles and dim sum - no. Don’t believe the hype.

I went there somewhat by chance, and it was a very good choice. The staff is very attentive and responsive. And the portions are very generous, which justifies the high prices. There's a wide selection of Chinese specialties. The place is spacious, and despite that, when I left, there was already a line of customers waiting. I highly recommend it!

We’ve been here for dim sum. I like all kinds of dumplings/dim sum so much that I am not really picky. They had decent amount feeling, not over boiled, and I was quite happy. Steamed were tastier than boiled. But a friend of mine (who is Asian and had a lot of access to dim sum there) said that the dough was much thicker than it should and dim sum were very okay. Service was nice and fast and the interior pleasant.

At Hoi Tin's bakery, you immediately notice what it's really all about: no fuss, just well-baked classics. I got three buns: the classic pork bun, the sweet bun, and a Hong Kong muffin. The pork bun is exactly what you hope for: juicy, generously filled filling with beautifully seasoned meat, in a soft, slightly sweet bun that is perfectly baked. Comfort food at its best. The sweet bun is simple, but strong precisely because of it. Slightly sweet, airy, and perfectly balanced. The Hong Kong muffin is along the same lines: super fluffy, with a fine, subtle sweetness without being heavy. These aren't complicated products, but that is precisely where the strength lies. You can clearly taste the routine and craftsmanship of a place that has been doing this for years. With a price of around €2.50 per bun, the price-quality ratio here is simply very good. The service was friendly and efficient. I would have liked to try the egg roll, but at 10:30 I was still too early for that, a good reason to come back again soon.

I don't know why this place got decent reviews. Went there for dim sum; the selection was very limited and repetitive. The prawn dumplings were inedible; complained to the waiter. They did not take that off the bill. Go down the street for better food.

Probably the best place in Chinatown. Would love to go there again, we were passing by and noticed it had a good vibe, we waited like 20 min to get a table but it was worth it. Perfect place to enjoy delicious food in great ambience in the center of Ams. Staff was amazing, smooth and pleasant. Food was excellent.

We came with our 90-year-old mother and just wanted to have a quick cup of tea: We weren't allowed!!! We had to leave!!! Good service??? Never again!!! Regarding your comment: did I say it is a café? Do you drink tea in a café? Our mother, in her late 90s, doesn't drink at a bar in a café the way you mean it.

The best place in Amsterdam to eat a good quality meal at a reasonable price, ideal for groups. Don't forget to try the pastries in the morning.

To be honest, I had high expectations due to all the positive reviews, but my experience was really disappointing. The pork bun tasted like it was burnt, which ruined the whole flavor. Additionally, the meat itself had a strange taste. That just made it unpleasant to eat. For the price and the good reviews, I really expected better. Maybe I was just unlucky, but this was a major disappointment for me. It's a shame, because I was actually looking forward to it.

Even though the back of the restaurant is a bit outdated, we keep forgetting how delicious we actually find the dim sum here. And the wait staff is very friendly and helpful—at least, that is always our experience. :-)

The waiting line is long, but don't give up, it's worth waiting. The pork-bun is Phenomenal here, filled with loads of pork, the heaviest pork-bun I've ever had!

Arrived without reservation… place was tightly packed, but we got a couple of seats… ordered a starter and a main dish (noodle soup)… starter arrived fast… tasted good, albeit a bit bland For the main dish my travel companion got his dish and managed to eat it before mine arrived! Had to ask about my soup before I got it…. Again good taste, but a bit bland An okay experience, just a long way from good Chinese food 🫣

We shared 9 dishes. I would order all of them again, except for the noodle with beef. It wasn’t bad, just not to my liking. The service was good and the bathrooms were very clean. I recommend this place.

The best food I had in years! 🥰 Almost got emotional, it triggered youth memories, I used to live in Southeast Asia as a kid. This was the best sweet & sour pork since then, that's over 40 years. I don't care if it is only take-away at 20:55. Forget the wooden spoon, I'll do with the chopsticks

Dining at Hoi Tin is a pleasure. The very friendly welcome, the escort to the (spacious) table, the pleasant atmosphere in the restaurant with guests clearly enjoying their food, and of course the extensive menu featuring the most delicious dishes (which are explained in detail upon request) all promise a lot. But the dishes surpass everything in quality and taste! We (5 people) enjoyed the delicate, authentic flavors and were impressed by the extremely friendly and prompt service. Moreover, there was plenty of time to relax and enjoy ourselves, without any urge to leave quickly, which is often the case in restaurants around the Zeedijk. We will definitely be back soon. Hoi Tin staff, thank you so much for your hospitality and the truly delicious food! Excellent!!!

The bakery was great! I went around 12:00 on a Saturday and it was quite busy. I ordered a custard bun and a Hong Kong muffin. The custard bun was still warm. I really enjoyed it!

We arrived around 7:50 pm without a reservation. We had to wait about 30 minutes. The service was quick; they were clearly stressed with so many customers. The food arrived quickly and was delicious: shrimp toast, xiu gao soup, and stuffed peppers were all good. You get a menu to check off what you want so you can keep track of what you've ordered. The next table had Peking duck, which also looked very crispy. Definitely make a reservation if you want to eat there. It was very busy.

One of the Highlights of our trip to Amsterdam was the food here and service we had received , fantastic food, reasonable priced. Good portions too. We had grilled belly pork, singapore noodles and noodle soup.

We had dinner with a group of four, we could talk and listen easily, this helps when an restaurant is not to noisy. The service was fast and the waiter was very friendly and easy to talk to. As usually we just are to much, but the food was tasty and the menu had wide range of options.

Great service, even better food! Definitely try the Cheung Fan (rice noodle rolls). I will come back just for that.

Today we tried the restaurant for the first time after years of enjoying the bakery. The dumplings were okay, but not exactly restaurant quality, and we also found the portions a bit small for the price. Especially the steamed ribs, which had more bone than meat. Unfortunately, the atmosphere wasn't what we'd hoped for; due to the excessive noise from other groups, my wife and I couldn't hear each other. The staff was friendly and acknowledged the problem, but couldn't do much about it. We left after 30 minutes. €50 less and an experience poorer. We won't be returning to the restaurant; we'll stick to the delicious rolls from the bakery from now on.

I had a delicious Chinese dim sum meal and thoroughly enjoyed it. I'd never had it before, but it was very tasty and delicious. I ate a lot of delicious dim sum variations, and the tea served with it was a great accompaniment to the dishes. I'll definitely be back.

How does this place only have 4.5 stars. The staff was awesome. Food came out hot fast and delicious.. waiters helped out picking the best dishes. Probably the best Chinese food in Amsterdam.

They are well known for their bakery, especially the egg tarts, which are perfectly flaky with a rich, smooth custard filling. By around 2:00 PM, the pastry selection was quite limited, which was a bit disappointing. After picking up some pastries, I stayed for dim sum. It had been a long time since I last had dim sum here, but everything was just fine. Overall, it is worth visiting for the bakery, but arriving earlier will give you a much better selection.

When we paid, we received a Chinese calendar as a gift, which was a nice touch! A decent restaurant overall.

Unfortunately, this was a very disappointing experience. The staff was not friendly and made us feel unwelcome throughout the meal. The restaurant did not appear clean, with dirty tables and an overall lack of attention to hygiene. The food was the biggest letdown: it had an unpleasant smell and tasted far from fresh, which made it hard to enjoy the meal. When we mentioned our concerns, the response was dismissive and unprofessional. Overall, poor service, questionable food quality, and low cleanliness standards. I would not recommend this place.
