It was delicious and good food!

I used to love this place but the quality of food declined drastically. Today we ordered butter chicken, paneer, and lamb but the gravy was so WATERED-DOWN like it was soup and not gravy. My naan was also really burned and the serving the food was half its usual size. The taste also was very watery. They used to have really good food and I recommend it to people, maybe they change the cook or trying to cut cost or something, but definitely won’t order again and won’t recommend anymore. Lastly, the person who delivered was rude, I’m glad I waited till food is delivered before giving tips.

⚠️🔥Read this before you go 🔥⚠️ We went here for dinner looking at the 4+ rating on Google reviews and boy oh boy were we so (unpleasantly) surprised 😳 Empty restaurant with no customers on a Friday should have been a red flag, but we blamed that on the holiday season and still decided to sit down. First of all, there was something wrong with the mango lassi. It seemed like the yogurt/curd was probably starting to spoil. So we did not finish that. We did tell the waiter that the lassi wasn’t good, but he simply asked if there was less sugar and didn’t bother to offer another one. Then came the plates, which weren’t washed very well. We had to wipe off some oily stains with the tissues and ask to replace one since the stain wouldn’t go away. And then came the stars of the show. As someone else pointed out in their review, the curries were just spice bombs even though we had explicitly repeatedly mentioned “Mutter paneer NOT spicy, Dal Palak MEDIUM spicy”. Even my Indian cousin, who can take way more heat 🌶️ than I can, was literally in tears 😭 We paired the curries with Basmati rice, which was weirdly lumpy, Probably cooked earlier and reheated in the microwave or in a pot before serving. You can really tell the quality of a (North) Indian restaurant by the way they cook Basmati rice and this one was a huge let down. We then tried the vegetable “biriyani”, in quotes because that definitely was a South Indian tomato rice with some veggies and 2.5 to 3 tons of chillies 🌶️🌶️🌶️ packing some serious Scoville scores worthy of competing on the YouTube show Hot Ones 🥵 Of course, we couldn’t finish this either and just left almost the full quantity we ordered. We didn’t dare to touch the bubbly raita next to it after we had the experience with the lassi; they both probably used the same yogurt/curd. The food in Indian restaurants usually makes up for the bad or below average customer service, but man, this is an all-rounder in disappointment. You can see the picture of food that we didn’t finish. I did give my unsolicited feedback about how spicy the food was. And the only thing the waiter/cashier/owner guy said in a proper Indian accent was, “Really? This one is very mild” I had nothing else to say but ask him, “Are you from Andhra?” to which he replied “Yes”. I made a pointy finger 👈🏽 and said, “That explains it” and left. In hindsight, it seems foolish of us not to walk out after the lassi or after the dirty plates or after the first bite of the curry. But then, if we did that, I wouldn’t have bothered to write this review and help my fellow Indian food enthusiasts. Conclusion: If you want a truly bad Indian Summer experience in the sense that you sweat 😰 from the heat 🥵 induced by the chillies instead of the weather, then go here. You can always go to the Ijscobar to have some really nice ice creams to cool off later 😅😉

I got food here 2 months ago. A crisis chicken masala turned out to look more like a piece of tree trunk after waiting 45 minutes (????). Bone dry and no longer cuttable. Really scandalous and my review was immediately deleted.... Hopefully they improve their lives.

We normally do takeout from here. Their portions used to be quite good. Unfortunately, they decreased the amount of food you receive with your meal and in my container of chickpeas, it was less than half full. My boyfriend and I both bought this and it was 50 euros so we would expect the container to at least be filled as it used to be. The food also tasted differently. It was good but not the same:/ I also ordered paratha and it came shredded. My bread was completely torn up. I also ordered a coke and received a Coke Zero. Drinks are 3 euros and I should have been told they were out rather than getting a replacement of Coke Zero because I don’t like coke zeros. My drink also arrived luke-warm. Felt very expensive for how little food there was and will not be buying from here again.

Unfortunately I have to say; It has nothing at all to do with authentic Indian cuisine. Very nice staff, but unfortunately the taste was poor.

Food is okay, but they serve EXTREMELY LITTLE for how much you pay, it didn’t use to be that way but they’re skimping down clearly… not worth it sadly. The curry was 19euros, each of the curries you see in the pictures!! Very disappointing :(

Delivered hot and fresh. Excellent flavour and can taste the marinade of the tikka.

Good place to eat. Food is tasty. And also not expensive. Owner nature is very sweet and kind. I would recommend if U are missing home taste pls visit Indian summer.

Good food- perfect taste and fresh ingredients used. Very welcoming and well behaved staff, they made us feel very comfortable. We ordered tikki chat, Pani puri and chicken thali for two - All turned out to be good. Overall satisfied. Improvements/suggestions- 1.Service should be improved. + Every table should have salt and pepper+ napkins so we don't have to keep asking every time we need it. 2.Guests would love more options in the drinks menu. 3. Toilets should be clean, it's a basic rule and was missing.

I’ve been coming here and ordering take out for a while as it’s my favourite Indian restaurant in Groningen. With that being said, this week we visited and ordered our usual menu for 2 with the butter chicken and the chicken korma. EVERYTHING was literally spicy, both dishes and even the side dish that is served with it. I asked our waitress about it and she mentioned how they have a new chef and that he has been making everything different and spicy. It’s sad when you finally go out for dinner and you end up with a completely different meal than what u wanted (in not a good way).

The best Indian restaurant in Groningen, hands down (and I have a very, very picky palatte!). All the curries are flawless, the 2-person menu options are a steal. As a bonus they also have delicious authentic pani puri and mango lassi. Super friendly staff and the food can be made to accommodate spice tolerance and any dietary restrictions.

The food was served well and they had very large portions. We loved the varieties of dishes that were in the menu and they were well prepared.

Super friendly staff who are happy to help you. Unfortunately, 'Chai by Indian Summer' is no longer available at the fish market, so the restaurant tried to pick it up this time. I thought the samosa chaat was better there, but it could also be a takeaway. Naan bread super tasty! Also tried the pani puri, not the best choice for takeaway. We didn't know which container belonged to which and how to eat it, everything was in separate containers. They could have explained that. That was also a bit disappointing. You can sit there, but it is not very cozy. Pick up also fine. Too bad Chai is gone in the city!

I tried out this Indian restaurant in Groningen and the food was really nice and spicy, just like you'd want it to be. It did take a while for the food to come out, but it was worth the wait. The flavors were spot on. I had the aloo tikki chaat, keema naan, and the chicken kolhapuri. The portions were fine.

Great, delicious food, leaves you wanting more. We will definitely come back. Garlic name and samosa chaat very good!

Ordered in and it took them 3 HOURS to deliver. I'm not exaggerating. Their estimate was about 1,5 hours. We called twice after two hours and twice they said the delivery was on its way. The food was good (we were hungry), the delivery was abysmal.

The first time at Indian Summer. We took a combo menu for 2 people. It was really delicious. Even in 3 months in India we have not eaten as well as at Indian Summer. The food is a straight recommendation. We will definitely come here more often. A comment about the toilet. The toilet seat was missing and a tap was loose. When we paid we lost €30 for two people. So also a good price-performance ratio.

Great food! Tastes authentic. Friendly staff. The ambience can do with a bit of improvement. Lots of mosquitoes in the restaurant. But the food is good enough to distract you from the ambiance. Prefer ordering in our take away if you can.

AMAZING food, reasonable price, mediocre dining experience (atmosphere, profesionallity) Highly recommend ordering takeout. Details below. Went to grab a bite with the girlfriend. Atmosphere of the restaurant was that of a takeaway joint. Poor lighting, awkward furniture placement. Also lots of delivery guys standing in the middle of the restaurant. There was a very loud electrical bug catcher in front of the entrance wich was distracting by times. Menu is big, asked the waiter if he had any recommendations and he hooked me up. (Forgot the name, my apologies) We had a chicken and rice curry dish with paneer. Out of this world. Food was delivered in seperate ingredients, rice, sauce, paneer and it was of different temperature, the rice was a bit cold but the sauce was nice and hot, and the flavour was to die for. Employees were kind, but unprofessional, cutlery was randomly put on the table, if you ordered a coke you got a can, and the water bottle was dirty. Overall the food was what mattered, ill definetly will keep getting food from here but i wont be dining in. 8/10!

After I've been to India, I've never had such delicious Indian food again, until I ate here. Highly recommended! The only negative thing I can think of is that there is too much choice in terms of dishes (so be warned, you may end up ordering more often or ordering too much!)

The gravy dishes at this restaurant were wonderfully flavorful, and the portions were generous. The staff provided good service, but unfortunately, the ambiance left much to be desired. The restaurant lacked design and cleanliness, and there were even issues with mosquitoes.

As an Indian who took my Dutch friend to try out food there, I wasn't impressed at all. We ordered Kulcha and it was very dry, it is not supposed to be like that. The Lassi was also not upto it. The Garlic Naan was also dry and not very soft. Naan is supposed to soft even without butter. The Paneer curry was also very basic. I would suggest you for improvement since it's a representation of our food.

Het is qua inrichting niet Het gezelligste restaurant van Groningen. Maar het eten is smakelijk, goede porties en nogmaals eten is veel beter dan de sfeer in restaurant. Je kunt ook afhalen of laten bezorgen.

Goed eten, snelle levering. Aanrader!

Prima eten! Vriendelijk maar helaas enorm gehaast personeel. Na het hoofdgerecht werd gevraagd of ik al af wilde rekenen. Nadat ik nog een nagerecht had besteld en had opgegeten, werd de rekening ongevraagd op tafel gelegd?! Jammer, maar heerlijk gegeten!

Excellent food especially chili paneer. My family liked mango lassi which they called lazzi. It had a taste of cardamom which I don't think was a great combination. Not much money given to the atmosphere. It's was little chilly inside the restaurant.

I ordered chicken tikka massala and pakoras and they were so tasy! Also portions are big and very filling.

This is one of the best and most authentic north a Indian food we have tasted in Netherlands We are from India and we’re pleasantly surprised by the amazing Indian food served in this restaurant. The service is very friendly and efficient and full marks to the Indian kitchen staff for preparing delicious and authentic North Indian food.

Bezorging was op tijd en hoofdgerecht ok. Had gehoopt dat het beter zou zijn dan dat van de concurrentie omdat de prijzen per gerecht ook hoger liggen, maar dat bleek helaas niet het geval. De salade die bij de twee bestelde gerechten hoorde zag er wel erg armoedig uit. Doe dan helemaal geen salade zou ik zeggen. En het nagerecht van 3,25 was erg karig. Drie bolletjes voor die prijs zou passender zijn. Zie foto’s.

Delicious and VERY vegan friendly. The chef is vegan himself so he kindly made a non vegan dish vegan for us. Very lovely service and atmosphere. Plenty of feed! One of the best Indian restaurants I’ve been!!

Lekkerste Indiaas eten van Groningen. Maar opeens zijn ze gesloten en nu al een aantal maanden dicht. Erg jammer dit was de enige plek in Groningen waar ze Dosa’s hadden.

Chilli paneer and the chaat were decent. Not the best, but decent. The main course- curry and rice were very disappointing. It felt stale. We ordered Darbari kofta- too sweet, Methi paneer- felt stale, Lamb Saagwala- decent, Chicken tikka masala- too sweet and Palak Channa- not a curry. Rice was over cooked. Even though the portions are generous, it isn't worth the money
