Den Hespel is a charming restaurant, easily accessible, with friendly service and excellent cuisine. The menu is good, with lovely seasonal dishes. In good weather, the terrace is also a pleasant place to relax. My group of five adults had a delicious meal. I'll definitely be back, or at the Jacobushoeve, which is a little further away and also owned by Bas.

We had a wonderful meal! Excellent value for money. The steak with mushrooms and the Jacobushoeve schnitzel are highly recommended.

We had high tea yesterday with nine friends. It was excellent. We started with fresh orange juice, followed by a delicious soup, followed by a platter of tasty sandwiches and other savory items. After that, another platter of delicious sweet treats. They regularly checked on us to see if everything was to our liking, and in addition to unlimited tea, we could also order coffee, cappuccino, or latte Machiatto. There was plenty of it. We could take any leftovers home with us. Friendly service. It was truly fantastic.

We went to the golden wedding anniversary of a dear friend of ours. Very pleasant place, kind of like a boerderij (traditional Portuguese tavern). We were very well served.

We had a fantastic meal at Den Hespel!!! We've been back a few times now since the food changes. What an improvement! We'll definitely be back. The service is very polite and friendly. However, I do miss a manager at the front who can really bring some soul to the place. The atmosphere is great, perhaps a bit more decoration in the back.

A truly beautiful national monument. The food and staff are fantastic, truly worthy of 5 stars. The atmosphere is truly a throwback to the old days. And the menu is superb. We will definitely be back.

The meat on my sparerib fell off the bone. It was truly super tender. I can honestly say these are the best ribs I've ever eaten.

What a nice place and what attentive staff. After a 55th wedding anniversary we ate again. Nothing had changed about the place and the staff. The food was as usual. Tip to the chef, stew with a Bolleke van de Koninck and a slice of gingerbread. It's just my idea.

Too many flys and wasps. Really disgusting. The food is okay. No salad or anything with the fries/meat. A bit too sparse. The fries and gravy from the meatball were also too salty. The ice cream was good. The service was also very friendly.

It's a great place to enjoy lunch, dinner, or just relax on the patio. The scoops of ice cream are getting smaller and smaller.

Had lunch here last week; the service and location were great, the croquettes with bread were nothing to complain about (but what could go wrong?), but the club sandwich I ordered was very sparsely filled for a hefty 15 euros, so perhaps something to consider for the hosts/hostesses in question.

De Jacobushoeve Dorst ligt aan de Steenovensebaan tussen Rijen , Dongen en Dorst in. Deze weg is uitsluitend voor bestemmingsverkeer. Op de menukaart staan zowel lunch als diner gerechten. Er is ook voldoende keuze voor vegetariërs. Het personeel is vriendelijk en behulpzaam. Er is voldoende parkeergelegenheid. De Jacobushoeve heeft zitplaatsen in verschillende gebouwen. In een oude boerenschuur staan de meeste tafeltjes , maar deze zaal kan ook voor een feest gebruikt worden. Een paar meter verder staat een glazen pui gebouw waar nog ca. 25 mensen kunnen eten. In drukke perioden is het raadzaam om te reserveren. Dit kan op de website geregeld worden.

Midday snack. Delicious food. Tomato soup and two generously filled sandwiches. More than enough. Friendly service. Nice location.

10 people thoroughly enjoyed the farmer's tea, more than enough and everything deliciously fresh!

Disappointed. The farmer's vegetable omelet was cold. The mint tea leaves were unappealing. The veggie sandwich had wilted lettuce and wasn't complete. The staff even argued that it was supposed to be that way, but the menu stated otherwise. When I calmly expressed my disappointment, the lady argued again. In short, a disappointing visit and not one we'll be repeating.

Nice location; rural location. Beautiful farm. Restaurant in a casual atmosphere. Quality and good quality offered. We had a Brabant coffee table there for a party. Location also suitable for consumption and/or ice cream only. Small playground and some animals next to the location. Operation correct.

It is a cozy farm, we only had an ice cream there, the choice is large and delicious!

Once again, we had a delicious meal! Nice atmosphere and super nice staff. Always a great place, whether it's for an (incidentally homemade and suuuuper delicious!) ice cream or to go out for a nice meal. If the weather is nice, I would make a reservation just to be sure. We are fans! 😁

Vegan menu was a half full small pan with 2 tablespoons of vegetables floating in a kind of soup. This had to be drunk. Despite the fact that portobello was on the menu, this was not to be found in the dish. With it were fries and a small amount of salad consisting mainly of lettuce. The pancake was served blackened on the bottom and smelling burnt. Returned and asked for a new one. In short, very bad food for a lot of money.

Together with my husband we had the mussel menu. The mussels were delicious and the dessert made it complete. The ladies in the service were hospitable. It was wonderful on your terrace.

We went there today was a super beautiful location! The friendliness was really worth 5 stars. The food was worth double what we enjoyed the delicious food! And the atmosphere was completely perfect! A real recommendation!

The food is delicious, good extensive menu. The portions are large, I am a big eater but after a starter, main course and dessert I was very full. The service is good, 2 lovely ladies took good care of us. Certainly a place but we will come back more often.

Great location for young and old.

I had stew, pan was not even half full and to be precise found 2 pieces of meat. The rest was sauce and some mushrooms. There was only some fries on the shelf and no garnish or salad. My husband had schnitzel xxl with mushroom sauce, but after 4 bites the sauce was already gone. The service was neat. We will not go there again.

Om een bijzondere verjaardag te vieren, hebben we hier een boeren hightea gehad met een groep van +/- 20 mensen. De ruimte die was gereserveerd voor ons, was perfect voor een groep van dat formaat. Het eten was heerlijk en meer dan genoeg. Eerst een klein tomatensoepje vooraf, daarna lekkere broodjes en vervolgens nog een plank met zoetigheid én het overheerlijke ijs van de jacobushoeve. We zaten propvol en hebben genoten. De bediening is ook heel erg vriendelijk. Bedankt voor een top middag!

Service is amateurish. Can carry 2 glasses at a time and then can't open the door. If you are in the garden room you have to go outside to the toilet, nice when it rains. In the garden room everything has to be fetched elsewhere because there are no facilities. Also a lot of flies.

I was invited for one birthday. It was a high tea, Well cared for, very tasty and diverse. First savory sandwiches and then many sweet treats. What a beautiful location and beautiful farm! Highly recommended!

Friendly and fast service. Tasty steak. They had forgotten cutlery, but it was brought after our comment. According to the menu, you get fries, vegetable garnish and apple compote with every main course. When you place your order, you will be asked which sauce you would like. It is not said that this costs extra money. You get 2 (!) bowls of salad with 3 main courses (?). The explanation was that the salad replaces the apple compote. When I asked where the vegetable garnish was, I was told that red cabbage was available, but that it was usually not eaten anyway, so it was not served. But if I wanted, she could still arrange that. At that point we had almost empty our plate, so a bit late. I thought it was special that the service decided for itself whether you wanted vegetables. Please provide an explanation when ordering. The menu was outdated, so it was not in good condition according to the staff. Simply putting a Dymo sticker over it might be a quick solution, because I read this in many older reviews.

Voor mijn 50ste verjaardag een toffe boeren lunch gehouden in zaal Koeienstal voor mijn lieve vrienden en familie. Heerlijk en voldoende gegeten, mooie locatie, fijne en gastvrije bediening, kortom: totaal ontzorgd en helemaal blij🥳

The weather was nice and very busy but there was plenty of staff but everyone went past each other. We asked for information about a dish, unfortunately they never came to tell us. There were also no vegetables and compote that were on the menu. When we asked about it they had forgotten it and it never came. The schnitzel jacobushoeve was hidden under a mountain of tasteless mush. For all this the price was WAY too high so definitely not recommended. Too bad

Vreselijke ervaring! Allereerst lang wachten op de bestelling, vervolgens weggestuurd van onze plek omdat het blijkbaar gereserveerd was en ergens anders een plek gekregen. Om daar vervolgens door de eigenaar op een zeer agressieve en asociale manier gedwongen worden om wederom te vertrekken omdat die plek volgens hem ook gereserveerd was. Koffie laten staan, afgerekend en vertrokken om nooit meer terug te komen op deze vreselijke plek.

Great helpful staff. We had done an MTB Clinic with our grandchildren from the Jacobushoeve. Unfortunately I seriously hurt my ankle. The way they welcomed me was great. Very attentive. We certainly hope to come back again.

Last week we held a party in the 'Cow stable' at the Jacobushoeve. Very nice location, friendly and helpful staff and well-stocked snacks and drinks. TOP location!!

Een restaurant in een voormalige boerderij. Men heeft een mooie menukaart. De bediening is vriendelijk. Heerlijke voor-, hoofd-, en nagerechten. Wij hebben er prima gegeten. Omrijden is zeker de moeite waard. Men kan er ook terecht voor bruiloften en andere feesten. Er is ruime parkeergelegenheid achter de boerderij.

I had the stew. Taste was OK but not special. The portion was very small, and that for 20 euros. At the snack bar a fries of stew costs €6.80 and then you have more fries, more stew and it is just as tasty. They asked twice if everything was okay. Twice politely indicated what I thought of the portion, but they do nothing with it. They ask because they have to ask I guess. I won't be back.

Cozy atmosphere where we had a delicious lunch with four people. Nice round table (which every restaurant should have) cozy by the warm stove and a nice, spontaneous and attentive young lady for the service. Brabant hospitality and conviviality as it should be. The food was delicious. Ditto. I think recommending dishes is nonsense. Everyone has their own taste. But what we had was all fine. Even the price.

Have expressed my condolences here. Beautiful location and excellent food. Had agreed on 3 tasty snacks and fries for the kids. Ordered for 45 people. It took a very long time to be served. By the third bite, most of the guests had already gone home. Fries for the children also took a long time. In the end I paid for 45 people but received much less than agreed.
