Eeterij D’n Bal in Wijk 00 Oosterhout-Centrum

On Sunday, December 3rd, we dined here with 10 people (6 adults and 4 children) after making a reservation to celebrate a birthday after bowling at Merlijn. We've eaten at D'n Bal before, and the price-quality ratio was always good. We had to wait quite a while for our food, even though we were there early in the evening. The spare ribs are definitely not what they used to be. Such a shame. Either they have a different chef or a different butcher. The fish dishes (sole and salmon, the cod, and the fish stew) were dry. One person received the wrong main course. It was eventually exchanged for the correct one, but there was no cutlery. The staff didn't pay attention when you tried to get their attention. There were three other people chatting behind the bar. We had to ask four times for spoons for some of our desserts, and to top it all off, we received the cheese board. Four mini pieces of regular cheese with two pieces of fig bread the size of a euro coin, and without the grapes listed on the menu. The waitress checked with the kitchen and was told that grapes weren't included. A small bunch of arugula was included. And all for! Yes, €12.50. Quite a lot for nothing special. All a real shame. And then it turned out the website wasn't up to date, because the prices were suddenly completely different from what the website listed for the monthly menu. That turned out to be incorrect and had to be adjusted. Oh well, it was busy, you know. But we know this now, so it won't be D'n Bal for the foreseeable future.

Yesterday, we had dinner with 13 people to celebrate my mother's 93rd birthday. It had always been a success before, but this was the last time. The food was okay, but it took an awfully long time. After almost three hours, we left and skipped dessert. The steak was also overcooked, as was the cod. The surf and turf portion was incredibly small, and again, it was a tough piece of meat. A real shame. It was very different under the previous owners. So, no more visits to d'n Bal for us.

Simply good food. Informal atmosphere. Fast service.

This used to be a great restaurant with excellent spare ribs. Now they were barely brown and not cooked enough to come off the bone easily. The tomato soup was watery. There were few tables occupied last Saturday night. The menu is limited, but I never mind that. It seems more like cafeteria food at the moment, not restaurant worthy anymore. We have since understood that the restaurant will have a new owner from July 2023. He may still take a critical look at his dishes and hire a better chef.

Had a wonderful meal, nice and quiet. We chose the September monthly menu. Definitely worth repeating.

I noticed a decline in quality. No question how you want the spare ribs, sweet, spice or normal. A soy sauce made from mayonnaise!? And the ribs were bland in taste. Also many new staff without catering experience who worked hard and did their best. But still, the ribs, etc. were disappointing.

Poor service, dropped drinks on us (can happen) but then didn't clear it up. Had to ask for a cloth to clean it up. Starter was of mediocre, pre-produced quality. Spareribs remain tasty. Other main courses were fine, but the sauce was served separately over the dish despite asking for sauce. Services are also slow and unprofessional.

We had a nice meal and drinks there, nothing wrong with it and pleasant staff. The frog buttocks are highly recommended, provided you like them of course. The other dishes were all okay with us. Keep it up

Cozy atmosphere, service is very friendly, helpful and humorous 😉. Next to us was a group of elderly ladies who were intent on destroying the restaurant. This was very inappropriate and unjustified!! There was nothing to complain about. The picture is complete. Food was very good, great service and good atmosphere! We enjoyed our evening. Except for the group of difficult elderly ladies!

We ate at den Bal with a group, which we have been doing for years, reserved in advance. The service is poor, it takes a very long time for the first drink to arrive, you can order white house wine by the glass, a Chardonay only by the bottle at almost 30 euros, one bottle cold, the other lukewarm. Starter, some had to ask twice for accompanying bread, after a long wait, ordered the third bottle of wine, the same as the previous 2 was gone, the question was whether it could be another Chardonay, which was 1 euro more expensive, that's bad service and it felt as if we had used up the leftovers, if you come with 10 people you do not offer your last 2 bottles of wine, but immediately a kind that you have had enough of, and you do not ask for an additional 1 euro extra, stiff keep it full, add 1 euro otherwise no wine. The main course, the sole with salmon, was very well done, and fish cutlery only came to the table after the meal. the mood had already dropped considerably, due to several mistakes this evening. like waiting for a very long time, drinks out of order. Another mistake was the payment, a bowl of fries that you could order again when it was empty was on the bill for 6.50 and 1 euro may, which was not included, Carpaccio and a cappucino on the bill were mixed up, several of our group had to come back, eventually the error was discovered by staff. Went in for more than 3 and a half hours, and had 3 hours of annoyance, and bad food and drinks. SERVICE bad, den Bal you WAS so good, you will never see us again.

-It all took an awfully long time: the starter only arrived after an hour. We got there at 7, at 9 we only had a starter and 2 drinks. We ended up staying there for 4 hours and then a few desserts were still missing, so we left. -staff friendly but nothing more: they do almost nothing on their own and do everything very late, such as clearing empty dishes, only asking once if we wanted any drinks, and not actually asking for anything else. I did hear that 1 or 2 ladies were being trained, but then they should have informed us that it would take a long time or refuse the reservation. - the food was tasty but: somewhat sparse plates, especially the surf and turf. I wouldn't dare serve 3 small pieces of steak and 4 prawns myself. The desserts were beautifully presented but very basic. Conclusion: good cuisine, better policy needed

Had dinner here a few times while away from work, the food was great! Staff was customer-oriented and the atmosphere was cozy as it should be in a good restaurant! Great place to stay, whether it's quickly after work or extensively 👌 great place

Beautiful occasion and delicious food

A few years ago I ate here more often and picked up food, always thought it was a nice, cozy restaurant with good quality food. Tonight we had to wait an hour for our starter, we had cheese soup and fried mussels. This one tasted good. Herb butter baguette was supposed to be served with the starters but came afterwards, not a disaster but still. After almost 2 hours of waiting the main course arrived, we all had the spare ribs. Compared to a number of years ago, this dish has really compromised on quality. On the dry side and did not come off the bone nicely. We had also ordered drinks when we were finally asked (this would be the second round of drinks) after 1 hour and 45 minutes. After sitting for more than two hours and having eaten our main course, there were still no drinks on the table. When dessert was brought, we indicated that the forgotten drinks no longer needed to be collected. An apology was offered for this. When paying the bill, these drinks were on the bill! The boss was called in and the unconsumed drinks were eventually taken off the bill. No compensation was offered and no response was given to our dissatisfaction and unpleasant experience. As far as I'm concerned, a missed opportunity! Then perhaps this evening could have been given a better twist, so that we might come back to eat more often. So unfortunately this is not an issue now. A terrible shame if you ask me, because I always thought this was a nice restaurant before...

Delicious food! We were able to make a last minute reservation for Saturday, half past six. Lots of choice, separate children's menu and a wide choice there too. The staff was friendly and fun with the kids. Extra compliments to the tasting of liqueurs with the coffee, with a special booklet with information about the liqueurs. Highly recommended if you are ever near Oosterhout.

Very long wait between starter and main course. Main course sparse and overcooked. A lot was donated.

I was here four years ago and it was better then. Unfortunately, the steak was dry and the meat of the spare ribs did not spontaneously fall off the bone. The beer tasted delicious.

Just order a mixed grill and it is advertised as generous, you get 3 small pieces of meat and 1 children's portion of spare rib. Homemade hot sauce, just buy a bottle at the Albert Heijn, it is exactly the same as the salad, well the 3 leaves of lettuce with a radish and a little liquid from yesterday. Called the restaurant about this. This is indicated and the person on the line says I am not going to argue, but I can show you camera images that it is homemade. I didn't feel heard Oh yes, the owner doesn't even call it dishes but stuff, this says enough, never again, I'll order something here, the food was cold, the satay sauce is in the middle, a big disaster, thanks Oh yes, and the fries weren't even cooked

Had an unexpected dinner here, good, friendly, unsophisticated atmosphere. Chapeau!! Excellent friendly service, everything in one word, worth repeating! Most importantly: the plates were warm. 👍👍👍and what was served was HOT!!!!!!. I would say keep it that way. Thanks again for the fun.

Ordered for the 2nd time, this time on time, delivery person very friendly, but the food was not as expected. Pork satay was tough and the satay sauce was bland, the salad was immediately thrown into the garbage bin, it was wilted and a bit rotten.

Dinner offered for a birthday, at "Eeterij Dn Bal". The name reminded us of a cafeteria. Very surprised upon arrival. A very attractive restaurant with very helpful and friendly staff. After taking care of our drinks and eating our food, we are surprised by a very tasty appetizer from home. To keep it short, we thoroughly enjoyed everything that was served. Which by the way all looked and was very tasty. To conclude, the undersigned had a coffee dn Bal (coffee with three liqueurs), something that is certainly worth repeating. Definitely recommended in terms of price and quality.

Just received my order. I've never had such bad spareribs. The meat does not come loose from the bone and has a bad taste. It looks like the meat came out of the freezer and is very tough. Not the best spareribs in Oosterhout but rather the worst!

Bad again lately, not good quality, meat was NOT cooked well. and I had had extra baguette paid extra so you got old and stale little baguette + I had paid extra for that The fries weren't good either I don't know what they did with them but they were bad So the meat was bad not cooked Fries, no to chew Baguette, old stale. I also paid extra got 6 pieces of old stale baguette For 35 euros I hope to eat good good food + we are regular customers as a family We never order anywhere else but this time and last time it was really a bit bad at Ranzig's bagger. . . . . . I'm really disappointed! Because they can do it!

Unfortunately my rating does not go beyond three stars. The taste and quality of the food is excellent, but they sometimes fall short when it comes to service and that is a shame. Last time I ordered spare ribs, I accidentally received the spicy version. That was 'made up for' the next time with a disappointing 10% discount. And on a normal weekday Wednesday, the delivery time appears to be up to an hour and twenty minutes. The delivery person also didn't seem to smile. Shame.

Had dinner here for the first time this evening with four people. Reservation appointment fulfilled. Friendly welcome. Good Corona control. Good room/dinner temperature. Friendly, non-intrusive service. Sufficiently varied menu. Our 4 courses were served wonderfully at our specified pace. An adjustment to one of our served courses, replaced quickly and without any objections in the kitchen. Top With a personal thank you to the rinsing boy, because it starts with him, clean cutlery, clean plates and clean glasses, and friendly service and delicious dishes prepared by the chef made our evening here worth repeating. We were lucky that we had gotten a place to eat at the last minute, so it was a well-attended eatery. It is cozy here, good atmosphere and nice staff. Food was great! And when you have already eaten and drunk everything you wanted and receive the bill, you are quite surprised that you could get all this for such a nice price. We will definitely eat here more often!

Genuine Brabant eatery. The atmosphere and decor is not my style. The food is usually good, although the quality can vary from day to day. For example, the spareribs are sometimes tasteless and sometimes a bit dry, while at other times they are fantastic. The consistency of quality can therefore be improved. The political pain is also often somewhat simple. The staff is always friendly. All in all a nice place to visit.

On Mother's Day we ordered spare ribs here and had them delivered, my compliments for the fast delivery and the friendly delivery person... the spare ribs were tasty, really good portions, the fries were warm, not limp, but just tasty (many companies can do that). who also deliver fries with their dishes can learn something from this) the salad and sauces were also more than sufficient... the onion soup was also tasty and warm... Excellent price quality. Spare ribs were tasty. I picked up the food and it was ready at the stated time. Drove back to Rijen, arrived home and the food was still nice and warm.
