Jerk Bay is absolutely fantastic. Huge portions, good music and the people had great vibes. We ordered the fish fritters to start with and they were so good with the spicy sauce. For the mains we had the jerk chicken meals with rice and mac and cheese. The portions are huge, so if you’re smaller eater like me I would recommend ordering just the chicken and a side 😉 The chicken was roasted perfectly and went so well with the spicy sauce. I also really liked the side of plantains and wish they gave us more! Also loved the drinks, the ginger pineapple was so good and perfect for a hot day. Would definitely return! Came around 3pm on a Saturday so it wasn’t crowded but I bet their place fills up for dinner quick 😄

This was a phenomenal place to get Jamaican food. I ordered the oxtail (available only on weekends) and my friend got the jerk chicken. the sides were amazing and the meat was also very flavorful. Great atmosphere nice staff and amazing food. I hope the photos do the food justice.

Nice little eatery. The food is very tasty and the atmosphere is relaxed with friendly service and quite a bit of coming and going of (many regular) customers picking up takeout. Also tasty cocktails (especially the Kingston!). The service is a bit chaotic though (drinks not registered properly and starters forgotten by the kitchen) and quite a few dishes on the menu were sold out. But what was available was truly delicious and we will definitely be back. (Actually 4.5 stars in my opinion, but unfortunately you can't give that)

Wow! I stopped by Jerk Bay for my final dinner before leaving Amsterdam. I was literally mind blown that this place exists in The Netherlands. I felt right at home. The music and vibe were immaculate. The staff were super friendly and playful. And the FOOD?! Top tier. The jerk chicken and mac & cheese were my absolute favorite. The next time I’m in Amsterdam, this will be on my list for a return.

I went to this Restaurant yesterday and I must say that I had the best jerk chicken I’ve ever had besides from the jerk chicken in Jamaica. I’ve travel to many countries serving Jamaican jerk chicken and non of them tasted like actual jerk chicken from Jamaica but this establishment has captured the authentic taste of Jamaican jerk chicken to its finest. The festival were also impeccable, the oxtails was fire and they have the best rice and pease I’ve had apart from my own cooking of rice and pease. All and all the atmosphere was very homie from the food to the very Jamaican music they were playing. For my overall experience I give this establishment a 10 , with 10 being the highest score.

Slightly overdue but this place has stolen my heart. The food was absolutely amazing (we got the jerk chicken platter) as well as the customer service. The girls working there were the sweetest and I wish I could've gotten their names. The atmosphere was definitely uplifting which just made the vibes 10x better. I'd definitely visit again the next time I'm in Amsterdam! Compliments to the staff!

i have been to jamaica and tried jerk chicken there, the east coast and west coast in america, and have never found anything as close to the flavor i had in jamaica until this place! i was IN LOVE with how amazing all of this food was. this place is a must try!! and the service was top tier! highly recommend if you want some good jerk chicken

We had a delicious meal; I had oxtail and my mother had jerk chicken. We also enjoyed the drinks. Next time I'll order something else from the menu.

I tried ordening online after 2 tries and the system telling me they misses my order I called the shop. Someone told me to order online after 7 more tries while they still don’t accept the order trough foodbooking I called the store to get a very rude person on the phone. I am never ordering here again!

We had a very enjoyable experience here! The Jerk Chicken was absolutely delicious and packed with flavor — the seasoning was spot on and gave the dish a great authentic taste. Personally, I found the chicken slightly on the dry side, but the amazing spices and marinade still made it very enjoyable. The cocktails were excellent as well. They were flavorful, well-balanced, and definitely generous with the alcohol — something we really appreciated! We also tried the oxtail. The meat was tender and nicely cooked, although it didn’t stand out as particularly special compared to the other dishes. Still, it was satisfying and well prepared. Overall, we had a great time and enjoyed the atmosphere, food, and drinks. We would definitely come back again to try more dishes in the future!

A real hotspot in Amsterdam! Enjoying delicious, authentic Jamaican dishes at a high level. I have eaten from them often and am happy that they have now opened one in Rotterdam as well! Friendly staff, tasty drinks too, and a pleasant place to visit. Takeaway is also available and it is opposite the metro.

A not so hidden gem of Amsterdam! This chicken will change your life. Or the Mac and cheese will. Or the ox tail. Okay I guess what I’m saying is no matter what you order you will walk out the door forever changed, and every time you ride your bike through Mercatorplein and smell the chicken in the air you’ll remember the best meal you’ve had in Amsterdam.

Just a perfect dinner - loved it

After waiting at the table for 45 minutes, we were served for the first time. Then we had to wait another hour for our food. The reservation was for 18:30, but we received our food at 20:25. Absolutely scandalous. Moreover, the staff forgot the drinks we had ordered twice. Other guests entered the restaurant around 20:00, were served within five minutes, and even had their food within fifteen minutes (earlier than us). I have nothing bad to say about the food itself, but the lack of service really ruined this experience. Furthermore, the music was so loud that we couldn't hear each other at the table. All in all, if you want to eat here, get takeout and make sure you arrive half an hour past the agreed time. With a bit of luck, the staff will have time for you then, and you can get your food that same evening😆.

The chicken was burnt to the bone. So disappointing, we came from so far away only to have to wait almost 2 hours because they were delivering takeaway orders first and people who order online apparently have priority, really a shame, the food was really not worth the effort, very disappointing.

First of all, the food is great. I don't eat curry goat often, but I'm glad I ordered it as this one was really tender and full of flavor. The restaurant was full but still the service was great, as we didn't have to wait for our order noticeably long. We had some nice cocktails as well and the music selection was top notch(Buju, Shabba, Busy, Bob and more). All in all, a great evening with great food and vibes.

I had delicious chicken with spicy chutney, rice and beans, and coleslaw. It was served quickly. Friendly service and a pleasant atmosphere. The only downside was the loud music. Conversing with my tablemate became more like shouting.

Visited with my partner & young child to dine in only to be told by the light skin/white female at the cashier that only take out was the only option with visible seats available. She kept saying she doesn’t have seats for 4 people whilst it’s 3. She then went on to explain that to seat 3 people it needs a table of four. We were immediately turned off because we could tell she was just being lazy & unhelpful with trying to seat us. We then told her that we don’t want to take out, because you clearly see us with a young child. She then went on to explain that the seats are suddenly for reservations and she cannot give her reserved tables. As a Jamaican living in Amsterdam & wanted to experience your restaurant, she ultimately ruined out first experience and as a true yaad gal mi neva eva ago step foot again inna yuh restaurant just because of one lazy staff. My review yuh have strength fa? Look how much bad reviews but yuh waah come address mine? Move up! & learn fi tek constructive criticism. All di likke gal wid har crayon eyebrows dem di need fi say the likkle table dem reserve idiot man or woman. Bun it bun yuh say mi say mi nah come back.

The food here was amazing! So good that I came back a second time. However, one staff member’s behaviour was quite inappropriate . Trying to catch my partners attention and making a sexual remark which there was no need for. I don’t know what she was hoping to achieve by doing that, but she failed. After making my order the second time there, I’m unsure as to why she specifically asked ME, “can you finish the food”, that really threw me off. Unless she was planning to pay for me, why are you asking me that question? Am I not giving the establishment YOU work in more money hun? 🙂. We just laughed it all off on our way home. Shameful behaviour lol. Again the food was delicious! Congrats to the chef!! 🤩

Was here tonight with my toddler. The staff was very friendly, nice girls and guys. The food was great too, we sure got a little flashback from when we were in Jamaica lol. I have to say it but the portions are good and worth your money, at Reggae Rita the portions are super tiny. Definitely recommend this restaurant!

I am writing to express my deep disappointment and outrage at the treatment I recently experienced at your restaurant, Jerk Bay. During my visit, I was very tired and felt the need to be seated immediately, partly because I have an ankle injury and cannot stand for long periods of time. As soon as I entered, I walked to a table to sit down, intending to calmly place my order. Unfortunately, I was immediately confronted by a waitress who approached me in a very aggressive manner. She said, "You have to go to the cash register first, and you can't just sit down if you haven't ordered yet." This was unnecessarily harsh and completely inappropriate. This made me feel extremely humiliated and anything but welcome. As a customer who enters your restaurant tired and with a physical disability, I expect a minimum of understanding and hospitality, not a confrontation and a public reprimand. Because of this experience, I no longer feel welcome at your restaurant and will therefore never eat there again. I find it truly unfortunate that a seemingly minor interaction has left such a profoundly negative impression. I hope you take this feedback seriously and train your staff better on how to interact with customers, especially those who may need a little extra leniency.

Great tasty chicken and sides. Service is very Jamaican. They surprised me for my birthday with a song and cake, which we thought was very attentive as it was only mentioned while making the reservation.

The food looks excellent. We had a reservation for 8:15 PM, but they hadn't taken us into account, so there wasn't a table available. After waiting fifteen minutes, we left. +1 star for the kind waitress who apologized and tried to make things better, but this restaurant really needs to improve its organization.

I came to Amsterdam to celebrate my 40th birthday. Despite my food search, I found this place at the last minute. We had oxtails for dinner and jerk wings as an appetizer. I had a birthday drink, and I think my husband ordered a Kingston. The food was delicious and flavorful, and the staff were very friendly. They played a birthday song for me and helped me celebrate. I recommend this place hands down!! Look no further!

The food was excellent, nothing to complain about. The service was terrible; we ordered a beer and were given half-liters for €9 without asking. The man who took our order didn't know any Dutch beer, so we suggested we try one. Our bill was €9 too much; that was his beer, and he considered our tip a treat and refused to deduct it from the bill.

Insane! Jerk chicken was the bomb! But then again, so was the goat curry and ackee wontons! Plantains were cooked to perfection. Delicious cocktails, and tried festivals for the first time. Yummmmm!

Passing through Amsterdam for my birthday weekend, I couldn't leave without trying Jerkbay. Passionate about Jamaica, its culture, and its cuisine, it was a must-visit for me. Result: no regrets whatsoever. The flavors are spot on, the dishes are perfectly spiced and incredibly generous. You can clearly taste the Jamaican inspiration, both on the plate and in the atmosphere. A truly blissful experience; I loved it from beginning to end. If you love Jamaican culture and great food, go for it without hesitation! 🇯🇲🔥

I had absolutely no idea what Jamaican food was like, and honestly, I loved it! The meal was delicious, the atmosphere very pleasant, and the staff were incredibly friendly. One of the waitresses spoke a little French, which was really nice. The playlist was really catchy and added even more to the restaurant's ambiance. There were a few little things that weren't entirely to my taste, but that's mainly because I'm quite picky 😅 Otherwise, the food was really good. I highly recommend it!!!!!!!!!!!

Like stated; real authentic Jamaican food. Waiting time for takeaway was >15 min. I tried the Mac and Cheese, Jerk Chicken menu (Rice w/ Peas) and the Salt Fish Fritters; enjoyed every bite. Tasty and lovely jerk chicken!!

Let’s start with the positives. The restaurant was clean, the music created a relaxed vibe, and the food was generally good. The jerk chicken was flavorful, portions were typical for a Jamaican restaurant, and the mac and cheese had a slight oven taste, but it wasn’t bad. Where things fell short was the service. When we arrived, the waitress asked if we had reservations. I said no and asked whether reservations were required, and she replied “oh, definitely,” while rolling her eyes. That set the tone. The menu showed oxtails listed as a “weekend special.” We asked whether that meant the price was special or whether they were only served on weekends. The response we received was, “they are only sold on the weekends, like the menu says,” which came across more condescending than clarifying. Later, while serving a nearby table, the waitress commented on the space being tight and added that they should excuse her because she’s fat back there. It felt unprofessional given the setting. Overall, I might consider ordering takeout again because the food was decent, but the dine-in experience would benefit from more professional and courteous service

Truly enjoyed the authentic feel here. It gave me such a good Caribbean vibe right here in Amsterdam. From the decor, to the staff, to the music, I loved every bit of it. I ordered the Jerk chicken with Mac & Cheese and it did not disappoint. I also ordered a side portion of rice & peas which hit the spot. The chicken was grilled just right, with a nice level of spice. I loved the flavours of the Mac & Cheese, it was both smooth in texture and rightly cheesed up. The only miss was that it was a bit on the salty side which became a tad overwhelming the more I ate. Apart from that, solid Jamaican restaurant with great food options. Highly recommend!!

What can I say? It's a pleasure to stumble upon a good restaurant like this! The Jamaican dishes are delicious and, what's more, the price is excellent. For a small starter, I recommend the accras, and for a main course, the smoked chicken with mak and cheese, or the rice, which was perfect with the spicy sauce. Honestly, I have nothing to complain about, even the service was warm and welcoming.

Never been to a Jamaican restaurant where the food wasvso good we had to go back twice. Even a six year old enjoyed her food. Food was excellent, the staff super friendly 👌🏾 will definitely be back when visiting Amsterdam and visit the new location in Rottardam

The jerk chicken with rice and peas tasted good. The rice and peas had a nice coconut flavor. The chicken was a bit burnt, but the flavor was good. The portion size is good. The staff is friendly. The rum punch was unfortunately disappointing and not authentic. I got a glass full of ice with lemonade and too much rum.

Loved this place. I’m of Caribbean descent so Jamaican food isn’t anything new to me but I can be particular about it. This place lived up to my families cooking which was extremely unexpected considering it’s the Netherlands. The vibe of the restaurant was amazing and the music reminded me of home. I will 100% come back to Jerk Bay for another meal.

Best Jerk Chicken in the Netherlands, by a distance!

Jerkbay is a small, cozy restaurant where you immediately feel welcome. The waitresses are friendly and create a warm, relaxed atmosphere. After my vacation in Jamaica 🇯🇲, I was looking for a place where I could enjoy authentic jerk chicken again 🍗 – and Jerkbay absolutely did not disappoint. The taste is exactly as I remember it from there: wonderfully spicy, tender, and truly authentic. Although I live in Spijkenisse, I love traveling to Amsterdam just to eat here. Their mac & cheese is also highly recommended; unfortunately, it wasn't available last time, but I'm forgiven for that because of the rest of the menu. In short: an absolute must for anyone looking for authentic Caribbean flavors.

Best Jamaican food in the Netherlands

Great service from owner/manager and waitress. They kindly found us seating when the restaurant was fully booked. The food was great with good sized portions. Price is a little steep. They forgot our mac and cheese but they did end up making it for us so we had to wait for this, but it’s nice to know they’re making it fresh!

I went to this restaurant with my colleagues last Saturday. The atmosphere was good, but the service left a lot to be desired. It wasn't customer friendly, and we ordered an oxtail and a lamb curry to try. There were two small bowls; you could count the pieces, and we were charged €25 for one small bowl, a total of €50, which was a real shame. It was the first and last time for us. Too bad, too bad.

Love the food here! Just a heads-up don’t bother ordering online, because they never seem to check the website. It’s faster to just go in and order directly.

I had two very unpleasant phone interactions here - on both occasions the staff were incredibly rude, even though I only asked simple, normal questions. This put me off so much that I cancelled my reservation without ever trying the food. It’s a pity, because I usually enjoy supporting restaurants like this, but I cannot support such poor service. A reminder: customers have choices - you need us, not the other way around.
