I was determined to visit Reggae Rita's on our trip to Amsterdam from the UK - I was not disappointed! The food was top quality. I had the curry goat meal and my partner had the brown stew chicken meal - authentic jamaican cooking at its finest. Rita and her son are just lovely people. The whole experience was fantastic. The cocktails at the Labyrinth bar were delicious too! Great atmosphere, reminds me of a jazz club. Highly recommend that if you are in Amsterdam you visit. Hidden gem! Thank you.

We had the barbi wings, plantain, jerk chicken, and oxtail with rice & peas. It was really delicious! We give everything, including the music and service, a 5/5.

The food was mostly tasty but not fresh. The juice was also not homemade. The music was so loud that we could not make conversation at the dinnertable. Boring! The location looked nothing like the pictures. Location looked like sero effort. So just come for the food not the experience. The place has not used potential. Very expensive for small portions, but that life in Amsterdam at this point.

We visited Reggae Rita during the Whine & Dine event hosted by DJ Jasmine Perez, and I have mixed feelings about the experience. Let me start with the positives: the music was absolutely great and really set the mood for the evening. The food itself tasted good and the presentation was impressive. Clearly some care goes into the dishes. However, the overall experience left a lot to be desired. The interior of the restaurant feels quite simple and outdated, and could definitely use some updating. Upon arrival, there was no host or staff member to greet us, which made things confusing. We didn’t even realize at first that we had to order at the bar. When we finally went to order, a large portion of the menu wasn’t available. That was honestly quite disappointing, especially since I had been looking forward to trying specific dishes. It also felt a bit unprofessional. Service was another weak point. There seemed to be very little staff, and unfortunately, the ones present appeared slow and uninterested. No one checked in to see if everything was okay, and there were no particularly friendly interactions. Guests essentially ended up looking out for one another. On top of that, we had to wait about an hour for the food, which is quite long, even for a busy event. One final note: in this day and age, accepting only cash is really not acceptable anymore. That’s something that definitely needs to change. Overall, while the music and food had their highlights, the service, organization, and overall experience need significant improvement. Lastly, that DJ saved the day. We stayed because of her. Because of her, we might come again and hope for better service from the restaurant crew.

We had an awesome meal here! Authentic mouth-watering Jamaican cuisine. Nice reggae vibe. Rita was so sweet - will be back again for sure!

If I could give zero stars, I would. We came here last year and had an amazing experience, so we were really looking forward to returning. Unfortunately, this year was completely different and very disappointing. We booked a reservation for 5:30pm and arrived on time, but there was no acknowledgment from staff and no service when we entered. The venue was also different from last year and, in our opinion, much worse. The music was extremely loud ..so loud that we couldn’t even talk to each other without shouting. No menus were brought to us, so we eventually went up to order ourselves. After placing our order, we waited over an hour with no food, no updates, and no communication from staff. In the end, we had no choice but to leave. We are very disappointed because this restaurant had so much potential .. we even recommended it to others after our first visit. Sadly, if things continue this way, I can’t see it lasting long.

The best jerk chicken I had outside Caribbean! Generous portion, really tasty, and we didn’t wait that long for our food.

We had a fantastic time as a Reggae Ritas. Delicious food, strong drinks and the music playlist was brilliant, she had all the classic tunes playing.

We were really looking forward to it because it kept popping up on Instagram. Unfortunately, it wasn't what we expected. We had oxtail with rice and beans and curry goat with rice and beans. We also wanted a patty and dumplings as a starter, but they were already sold out by 6 p.m. The oxtail came first. It seemed like a lot in the bowl, but it was more bone than meat. I know oxtail has a lot of bone, but this one had little to no meat on it. We had to wait over 10 minutes for the curry goat; I had to ask for it myself... and that too was more bone and little meat. We also had two juices, but they were just two glasses filled with juice and lots of ice cubes. We paid 70 euros in total, but it really wasn't worth it. What a shame!

I liked the plantain and the festival

Our experience at Reggae Rita was completely unacceptable and extremely disappointing. We arrived as a party of three and waited 30 minutes without a single staff member coming to our table. There was only one waitress working, and she was clearly overwhelmed and very disorganized. Eventually, I had to get up myself to ask if we could order food. Before ordering, I specifically asked how long it would take, and I was told it “wouldn’t be long.” That was absolutely not true. We ended up waiting two full hours for our food. When the food finally arrived, it was the wrong order. After pointing it out, they brought one correct plate, and then the second plate came 10 minutes later. While we were still waiting for the third meal, we were told they didn’t even have that dish anymore — after we had already waited two hours. That is simply unacceptable. While waiting, we spoke to other tables around us and found out they were experiencing the exact same issues — extremely long waits, confusion with orders, and poor communication. It clearly wasn’t an isolated incident. The staff kept blaming everything on the kitchen, but there was no real apology and no accountability. We even tried to speak to the owner about the situation. She claimed she was not aware of what had happened, yet she was sitting and eating at the table right behind us the entire time. It was very clear that there was no proper management or oversight. To make matters worse, when the food finally did arrive, it was not good. After waiting two hours, you at least expect quality, but the dishes were disappointing and not worth the time or money. Overall, the service was chaotic, unprofessional, and careless. Waiting two hours, receiving the wrong food, being told a dish is unavailable after such a long delay, dealing with disorganized staff, and poor-quality food made this one of the worst dining experiences we’ve had. I would absolutely not recommend this restaurant.

After waiting two hours, getting the wrong food, and receiving no proper communication, this turned out to be one of the worst restaurant experiences we’ve had. I definitely wouldn’t recommend Reggae Rita to anyone.

Two days ago, I made a reservation for today, but unfortunately, it was a very bad experience. Upon entering, it felt like we were being placed in some kind of storage room, while the other side of the restaurant was supposedly "full." When you make a reservation, you expect a table to be reserved for you, but that was clearly not the case. Furthermore, the door kept opening because guests were walking outside to smoke. With an outside temperature of 0 degrees Celsius, it was freezing inside, which made it very uncomfortable. After about 15 minutes, a staff member came to ask what we wanted to order, even though we hadn't yet received a menu. When she came back later to take our order, it turned out that almost everything we wanted was out of stock. We ended up ordering two jerk chicken dishes and two cocktails. Making it even more frustrating, four groups who arrived after us were told to wait just as long, but did receive their drinks. We also saw other tables receiving extra portions when they requested them. We, on the other hand, continued to wait. After almost two and a half hours without receiving any food or drinks, we decided to leave the restaurant. Then we received the surprised response: "You're still waiting?" That was the most shocking moment for us, as the employee walked past our table several times without checking if we had received our order. In short: very disappointing service and definitely not recommended.

Unfortunately I had a terrible experience, we waited almost 1h30 for the food, music was super loud, communication wasn’t good as some items were missing when we got served and we got charge the same as the regular I don’t recommend this restaurant

Warning ! The food was overpriced. Taste: 6.2 – dry and small portions. The service was bad. After we placed our order, no one came back to check on us. I ordered another drink, but nothing was done with it, so I ended up going to the bar myself. The fries looked like they were 100 years old I had previously been to Reggae Rita at the old location, and there was nothing to complain about back then. I think the lady can’t handle it anymore and no longer does proper quality control on the food. Even the toilets were dirty. There were four people in the kitchen, but only one was actually working. How long should it take to serve a jerk chicken? We had to wait an hour for it. This was the last time for me. It’s a shame, because I was really looking forward to it. Rita, step up your game or close your shop.

The music was too loud (although it was good music, it was as loud as in a club). After an hour and a half of waiting, we received our main course (before our appetizer). The only good thing was the rum punch, but with all the waiting and little communication (as part of our order was unavailable and this was only communicated after an hour), the food doesn't make up for the experience I had, especially not for the price, as there are restaurants nearby where you pay the same price with better service/more plentiful meals.

BAD! The two of us were able to order immediately upon arrival, but after an hour (!!) our order arrived. We ordered oxtail, jerk chicken, fries, and waffles. The fries came first. They tasted like they'd been fried in the meat fat. They were rock hard, like chips. A small square plate with an even smaller bowl of oxtail and rice and peas. A total of 5 small pieces of oxtail, and the rice and peas was terribly dry, so dry it kept falling off my fork. My partner ordered jerk chicken. The meat was tasteless and dry. Even the basmati rice was dry. Then we ordered drinks, which never arrived. When we asked Rita where our drinks were, she disappeared behind the counter and didn't bring our drinks. I had to walk to the bar myself. We didn't get our waffles until after we'd finished eating. Communicating in the restaurant is impossible; the music is incredibly loud. It wasn't even reggae. This little joke cost us 102 euros!! For two people!! No one asked if we enjoyed our meal; they probably already knew the answer. Even paying took half an hour because the system wasn't working. Too bad, we once had a great meal at Reggae Rita in Labyrint, but that experience is gone. And lastly: those fluorescent lights are absolutely useless when you're charging those prices. Disgraceful!

What a TERRIBLE restaurant! How does this have 4.3 stars? We had to wait ages for our food (I'm still waiting for it because I didn't get it). People who came after us (7 in total) got their drinks before us, and even the same drink we ordered! The chef was filming for promotion more than just standing in the kitchen; he was eating and taking breaks while people waited for their food. Some men had already finished their food, and they ordered another portion, which they got right away (while we'd already been waiting for AN HOUR!!!). The waitress did her best until the last moment when we decided to leave. She remarked, "You are still waiting," in a very interesting way. As if we were there for fun and to watch her do her job. I smell more of that jerk chicken than I tasted it!!!

The food is good and the portions are generous. However, many dishes are unavailable, and a 33cl bottle of water costs €4.50.

Great service, great food and the music was a vibe. My friends and I definitely enjoyed this restaurant during our visit. We arrived close to closing but they were able to accommodate us and were so friendly and welcoming.

What a mess, it smelled like a sewer. The main course arrived before the appetizer. An average Jamaican would have been shocked. The owner was shamelessly napping at a nearby table. Chicken with too much airflow and a goat stew that tasted like nothing. It was like a Gordon Ramsey show. I should have thrown my plate across the counter. The staff made the best of it. You won't see me there, no, never again.

Delicious. Some of the best jerk chicken we've had outside Jamaica — well-seasoned to the bone, without being over-peppered. Wife and I smiled from first bite to last. And Rita is as warm and authentic as the food.

Patties so good I did a backflip

As a Jamaican, the vibes were definitely right, the music, the energy, the cultural touchpoints all hit home. But the food just didn’t live up to the poetic point it promised. I ate here a few years ago and absolutely loved it, so I was excited to return to the new permanent location. Unfortunately, the experience fell short this time. The culture was there, but the quality and portions simply weren’t. I left disappointed, hoping the magic I remembered will return.

The food is amazing!! I had the dried fish with Rice cured in coconut milk. Great stuff

We spent almost 200€ last night in this establishment and it was so disappointing. We ordered our food at 8 pm. We waited give or take an hr before our food started to come outside. Unfortunately everyone did not receive their food at the same time. We were informed maybe 30-40 min in that the chicken had run out and needed to be "jerked". The oxtail is 30€. You are receiving rice, a little soup bowl of 3-5 pieces of oxtail and coleslaw (sry y'all, It was not appetizing at all). The curry goat and oxtail was so spicy I could not even taste the seasoning. We traveled so far, waited so long and to be disappointed really was unfortunate. Claiming to have Jamaican juices but then serve your clients Maaza juice is a joke!! Asked the lady who was taking our order on the menu what certain things were, her answer: I don't really know, I am not sure. Alot of things were not available upon request. As a islander I take pride in our cuisine and i will always support my own. But this here? Y'all can Neva get my money ever again! We had no choice but to eat because money was spent. My friend made light of the situation. We did not wanto be rude but I was pissed! Atmosphere is confusing, I was not even sure I was in the right place due to seeing bulls, a cowboy, and Sign saying #steakhouse. Your vegan stew was the most Delicious thing we ate. Do better y'all.

Had diner at this establishment last night and it was a let down. Really disappointed with the food and service. Ordered our food, drinks at 8pm. Took a little close to over 1hr before our food started coming out (party of 4). About 30- 40 minutes after ordering we were informed (after inquiring how long more) that they ran out of jerk chicken. The chicken had to be "jerked" atm. Disappointing. For an establishment that prides themselves on authenticity this wasn't it. Juices poured out of Maaza boxes, served with two tiny ice cubes. €30 for oxtail and curry goat, portion size was not worth that amount. Seems like they changed their plating ways ove rthe last 3 monthsnor so. Cause we were served a small soup bowl of oxtail with 4 a 5 pieces of oxtail in it., Curry goat that had more bones than meat. Rice and peas that was bland and about 1 tbsp of coleslaw smothered in mayonnaise (not eatable). The oxtail and curry goat was overpowering with spice. To the point you couldn't savor the meal or taste it properly. Our server kept stating she doesn't know or isn't sure about menu items. Menu items not available upon request but pictured and listed. As an island woman who knows we take pride in our culture, cuisine, art etc, I love to support our own, but This was NOT It! This establishment can't get my money ever again. It's because of the company and the fact that we traveled from afar to dine here we stayed and ate as our money was done spent. Addressed this to our server who said "too spicy" for you. I'm an islander there's spicy to enhance the flavor of food and spicy that overpowers the food. More confusion is not knowing where we were as the decor is Spanish/Brazilian with a hint of Jamaica. We got to do better and be better. Not like this!

We booked a table for lunch and we were the only ones there having a meal. In the back of the restaurant they were hosting a sip&paint event, so we waited 20minutes to order. When we got to place our order, they ONLY had two items of the menu so we had to leave.

Guys, the food is just not good and way, way to expensive! The rise is super dry, chicken wasn't that special at all. Fries 8 euro? Nah, i'm good as there so many great restaurants in Amsterdam. Way to over priced! Thanks but no thanks .. Oh and only Jerk Chicken is what we could order .....

Generally speaking, I am the kind of person who only makes time to write a review when I have had an exceptional experience and want to share with others. Reggae Rita’s was definitely an exceptional experience, one I will never repeat. I had a sneaking suspicion all was not right when I tried to order a Red Stripe (which was not only listed on the menu, but there was a photo of the label as well) and the waitress had no idea what I was talking about. When I pointed to the photo on the menu, she said, “Oh, we don’t have that one.” Foolishly, I brushed it aside and asked for a Heineken instead. I ordered the jerk chicken. Twenty minutes after placing the order, someone from the kitchen brought the food, and I have to admit, the heap of jerk chicken on the plate looked impressive. It came with a little plastic portion cup of coleslaw—about 2oz.—and a small basket of fries. As I dug into the pile of chicken, I discovered why it was piled as such—there was not one single whole piece of chicken in the whole mess. And a mess it was. It was mostly bones and gristle. It was cut up in such a way that almost none of it was recognizable as leg, thigh, wing or whatever. I picked up one of the larger pieces (maybe about the size of my pinkie) and when I bit into it, I discovered it was a spine. I spent the next little bit trying to discreetly spit it out bone by little bone into my napkin. The whole experience was like trying to pick through the leftover carcass of someone else’s Sunday dinner. And what little meat there was had been seriously overcooked and almost as dry as jerky, which is quite a feat when it comes to dark meat chicken. At the bottom of the pile was the coup de grace—a bone, completely bare from a chicken breast and the inedible end of a drumstick, the leg bone sawed through and the meaty part obviously given to someone else. I seriously wonder if my “meal” wasn’t simply scraps from other customers’ plates that were re-plated and thrown in a microwave. Our server was polite enough. She brought our initial drink order right away, but we waited twenty minutes for a meal that was OBVIOUSLY not cooked to order. I would have liked a second beer, but the server only showed up at the end to settle the bill. Our food was brought to us by someone from the kitchen. I was a hair’s breadth from going full Gordon Ramsay, but my partner was enjoying her vegan stew and relishing our last night out in Amsterdam, so I held my tongue. But seriously, it was insulting that anyone would charge 24 euros for a meal and expect that any customer would find what I was served acceptable. And, if I’m paying for that much for a meal, put my damn coleslaw on the plate, not in a plastic cup like I’m 5 years old. As I said, I’m typically not the kind of person who writes bad reviews, but I just don’t want anyone to enter this place with the high hopes I had only to be disappointed, if not outright insulted.

One of the best Jamaican restaurants I have ever been to. The chef is Jamaica born and raised and you can taste it in the food. The curry goat was super tender and juicy and the jerk chicken had the most authentic jerk flavor I’ve had.

Well let me tell you! If you're looking for a fun (dinner) spot to grab something to eat, I can recommend you Reggae Rita's! I've had it on my list for a while and finally had the opportunity to check it out with some friends. It was most definitely worth the wait. ORDER Jerk wings, mac & cheese, crispy fries, oxtail w/ white rice and peas, jerk chicken & waffles. Rum punch and a couple rounds of Jamaican rum shots. FOOD The food was absolutely delicious! Everything was perfectly cooked and did absolutely not lack zijn taste. Oxtail.was juicy almost fell of the bone, and the rub on the jerk chicken was on point. Unfortunately there's so much we didn't get a chance to try. We had ordered the mac & cheese and wanted some paties but it was already sold out. SERVICE Shout out to Mashanta! Amazing hostess and we can't forget Mama Rita as well. You can see that they really care about your experience and take care of their customers. A table across from ours didn't finish some food and I noticed Mama Rita was curious to their feedback so she could share it with the chef. LOCATION The restaurant is a hidden gem for sure. Just turn on your Google maps and walk from Leidse plein. It's a hidden gem not only because of the distance but also because of the signs outside. This used to be a steakhouse as can be seen by the old sign next to Reggae Rita's sign and also the inside. BUT, don't let this fool you! You'll have the proper Jamaican experience with the vibes. The food and music. We will be back Mama Rita!

We made reservations for 8:30pm (which you don’t have to), we was placed in a small corner in the restaurant, after 10 minutes of waiting, they took our order. After 30 to 40 minutes of waiting, They informed us that what we ordered was no longer available. So instead of letting us know Prior to ordering and letting us wait they waited a whole 40 minutes to let us know that. I would not recommend anybody come to this restaurant, especially if you are expecting customer service, Or a good experience

I had dinner with a friend, but the service was incredibly inexperienced. The menu didn't clearly state the prices. 8 euros for a small amount of rice and 8 euros for a portion of fries. The jerk chicken was also tasteless. TikTok made it taste good, but one thing was tasteless.

Far too expensive for what you get. Small portions, jerk chicken was very dry and lacking in flavor, and the plantains weren't ripe yet, making them dry and tasteless. The portion of homemade juice was also far too small. Sloppy service. I received my dish 5 minutes after ordering, and two sides were missing (mini coleslaw and, I think, the sauce, which I didn't receive). My husband didn't receive his dish until mine was almost finished, so he had to watch me eat the whole time. They came to ask how we liked the food at the end. My husband said the portions were small, and he was able to get a little more meat, but it wasn't very good. We were disappointed, as we love Jamaican food and were really looking forward to it. This is the first time we've been disappointed at a Jamaican restaurant.

Went to Rita’s just before I was due to go back to London on the last day of my visit.Had Jerk Chicken & Rice & Peas which was absolutely fantastic.Highly recommend that anyone whose in Amsterdam goes to this spot.You won’t regret it.

Reggae Rita’s for the win! Anybody traveling to Amsterdam looking for a bussing jerk.. look no further. The staff are so welcoming, the food even better the jerk was nice and hot. The rice was cooked perfectly you can taste the coconut milk in the rice and peas. The staff gave a complimentary Appleton Shot. This place kept me sane while being homesick. No matter how far you’re far from your origin, Caribbean folk looks out. Shoutout to Masanta & Angie

They try hard, but if you can’t remember the order and have to come three times, serve expired drinks, have the cook sleeping and us waiting for food for over an hour and then it’s not very good, that’s disappointing. Paying took another 10 minutes to calculate…

I hired the Reggae Rita team for a business event and they were amazing. The communication was great and the food was deliciious. My colleagues were very happy.

My boyfriend and I recently visited the new location. There’s plenty of space and it’s easy to find. We ordered the curry chicken and jerk chicken with rice and beans and plantain on the side. The food was really delicious! Dishes were served within 20 minutes after ordering and the staff is friendly and checks in regularly to see if everything is ok. We really enjoyed our time on the terrace. As to the menu, indeed many dishes were not available at 14:00, so i would recommend to work with day menu’s to not dissapoint customers who travel from a far in the hopes of trying certain dishes (mac and cheese, oxtail etc). Other than that we had a really good time and would recommend to try it yourself!

However, the portion was incredibly small and contained more bones than meat. It looked like the last bit had been scraped out of the pan. Afterward, I checked their Instagram to see what the portions should look like. That's absolutely not what we got. The food tastes fantastic, but it's ridiculous that the portions are apparently halved when it's busy.

Loved this place. I love Samantha's vibe, she is brilliant. Rita the owner is lovely and it was really nice speaking to her. They were having a sip and paint activity and because it was my hubby's birthday, the lady Sharon who organised it gave us a drawing of my husband and I to paint together. It was so nice to meet all of them including Paul. The food was nice, oxtail soft and juicy but be warned very spicy. So glad we found the place as we are regular visitors to Amsterdam . See you in December guys lol

I had an amazing experience at Reggae Rita’s! While the service was a kitchen was a bit slow on the day we visited, it was absolutely worth the wait. The chef, originally from Jamaica, brings authentic Jamaican flavors to life, and as someone who was born and raised on Jamaican food, I can honestly say it’s the best I’ve had outside of Miami, London, and NYC. It was so good, I can't wait to return, and the 2-hour drive was more than worth it. The staff made our experience even better. They were incredibly warm, welcoming, and polite. A special shout-out to the beautiful Caribbean queen from Aruba who made our visit unforgettable. We shared wonderful stories of growing up in the Caribbean and living abroad, and she was also so attentive and helpful to the rest of the guests. Truly a memorable experience—thank you for everything! I can’t wait to come back to Reggae Rita’s!

I'd seen so many good reviews and TikTok videos that I wanted to try it out. I finally made a reservation for 4 people, traveled for 1.5 hours, and then arrived, only to have to wait 10 minutes at the door and then ask myself what time we could be seated. She simply told me there were no tables available and that all reservations were CANCELLED. We'd made a reservation 4 days in advance and received no notification or email back. It's a place I'll unfortunately never return to.

The jerk wings were burnt and very dry. There was a pepper sauce but not enough.

As someone who’s actually been to Jamaica, I can confidently say this was some of the best Jamaican food I’ve ever had — flavorful, tender, and full of island soul. When we arrived around 2 PM, it was clear this spot is loved — several menu items were already sold out (always a good sign). We both went with the jerk chicken, and wow... it was smoky, spicy, and cooked to perfection. To wash it down, we had homemade lemonade and a crisp ginger beer — refreshing and balanced just right. The vibe of the restaurant made us feel like we were dining on the island itself, with reggae music floating through the air and a welcoming, down-to-earth energy. Food was really good and the waitress was very attentive and nice.

The jerk chicken and curry chicken are absolutely delicious! Well spiced, very tender meat. The sides of fries and rice were also great. The staff working here was very kind and attentive to us. Looking forward to coming again! ❤️

The food was decent. We had expected it to be spicier, but it was more salty than spicy. The jerk chicken was nice but a bit dry. The fries were good though. The people were friendly, but there was some mistake in the bill and we were overcharged ( which I realized later ). Just ok experience!

Average and expensive meal. My can of ginger beer arrived warm, without a glass and ice cubes, so it wasn't pleasant. Once the meal (jerk chicken) was served, we had to wait for cutlery, and I had to get up to call someone in the restaurant because there was no server on the terrace. I came at 3 p.m., and we were the only ones in the restaurant. The plantains were dry, not cooked to order, but rather reheated in the microwave because they were soggy. The salad served with the chicken was in a container like a sauce dish 😂, about 4 cm in diameter. It's ridiculous.

When we came in we stood at the door for fifteen minutes before someone came to us. Only after 45 minutes if not longer. Our order was taken. Everything on the menu was already gone. I mean tell them that right away when we come in. People who came in after us got their food earlier, super vague. The jerk chicken were just cocktail legs. And very dry, really ridiculous. On TikTok everything is made so beautiful. But in real life it is not at all. Nobody looked at us. We came for the experience, not to notice anything. Too bad because we had paid €134.

They have the open sign on, but the restaurant is closed. The Google times are also wrong.

Super delicious Jerk Chicken eaten with Plantains and Mac Cheese, especially the chicken and plantains were delicious! We will definitely come back and the prices are also really low, wow so much chicken for that money delicious!

My boyfriend and I have been looking for a GOOD Jamaican restaurant for a while. Went there for the first time and had a really nice meal and drinks. I had a coconut water and my boyfriend a mango smoothie which I was jealous of haha. For dinner I had Oxtail with Rice and Peas and my boyfriend had a Jerk chicken & waffles with a beef patty and a Mac & cheese as a side. EVERYTHING WAS SPANGGGG!! Of course our eyes were bigger than our stomachs but that was not a problem at all, we could just take the rest with us. The service was super good and friendly and Mrs. Rita immediately thanked for the friendly welcome and her delicious dishes. The music up to the food was perfect, really as if I was in Jamaica for a moment!

First of all, there is only 1 person working at the counter, which makes the waiting time very long. When we asked for drinks, we were offered a homemade punch that the staff made themselves, not knowing that this was the most expensive one they had. It was not on the menu and drinks on the menu cost up to 10 euros. The punch was 12.50. This was not mentioned. The food is so little, taste was not bad I must say but jerk chicken is more bone than actual meat. Salad that is served with it comes in a sauce container measuring 4 by 4 cm?!?!? Rice and beans are much tastier made at home. Also very small portion!! For 21 euros I expected more. It certainly wasn't worth the price. Nice atmosphere and music. Unfortunately not recommended, it looked much better on TikTok.

Ordered food from this place and it was the worst food ever. They should not call this authentic Jamaican food because it is far from it. The rice and peas was way off, I could tell they did not add coconut milk, thyme, scallion and scotch bonnet. The chicken for the jerk chicken was old and the seasonings was off. The curry goat was chopped up in very small, tiny little pieces with a lot of bones, dangerous to eat cause you could easily break a tooth. I’ve never seen curry goat been chopped in those small pieces. The salad was a joke in a small little plastic container, might as well leave it out. The only good thing was the plantain but I’d be surprised if someone messed that up lol. Overall I give it a 1 out of 10. And whoever rates this place high has never eaten real authentic Jamaican food before. Will never order from this place again.

Food was excellent! Portions were plenty. But the service left a lot to be desired probably because they were short staffed. I had to wait half an hour to place my order and then another 20 minutes for it to arrive. Apart from that definitely 4 stars ⭐️

Very disappointed - we had reserved a table in advance - I took my husband and son for their birthdays (Our son's 30th- he was visiting us from the UK) we arrived at 5:50 and were promptly seated. We waited 45 minutes before being offered a drink - then had to wait a good 15 mins to receive them. On trying to place an order - there were no dumplin, no fritta, no waffles. We finally decided on the meals that were available and waited patiently - the owner walked round with a constant scowl, a young girl came up from the kitchen and Rita tasted the coleslaw she had presumably made and screwed up her face.This doesn't look appealing to customers!! - we were not offered a second drink in the 2 hours we were there. My husband and my son's food turned up, they ordered fries they were both incorrect as they came with rice and peas and they had both ordered fries so they ordered the fries on top not to cause a bother. Half way through eating their meal the owner came and asked if the fries had arrived, we said no AND my meal hasn't arrived at all .... Next the waiter came and said "oh your meal is not available" .... At this point my husband and son were HALF WAY THROUGH their meal.... I got "sorry yeah can you have something else.." I said no thanks as they will have finished theirs by the time you've cooked mine, I'm going to have to just grab something elsewhere. The whole point of going for a meal is to eat together.. right?! ... We were then given a complementary plate of plantain... I don't like plantain! We left with another "sorry yeah" no discount offered or any decent apology. I left the restaurant 2 hours after entering without having eaten a meal, hungry and extremely disappointed.... Terrible service 😔

We had dinner at this Jamaican restaurant and were quite satisfied! The dishes were very tasty and well-seasoned, with that signature spicy touch of Caribbean cuisine. However, the vegetarian options were quite limited, and the overall menu didn’t offer much variety. Despite that, we had a good dining experience, and the service was excellent—the waitress was very kind to us. Overall, a positive experience!

My first and last time at reggae rita. The food was good but the service was HORRIBLE. Me and my friend had a reservation for 15:30. It took about 20 minutes before they could of taken our order. I had a lemonade and this had no taste. We recieved our food about a hour after ordering. I asked the owner how long more it would have took and she responded with "I hope it comes now". Our food came exactly at 16:45. We took one spoon of rice and the owner came to let us know " I don't mean to rush you but you have until 17:00 to eat because the building gets taken over by another restaurant". I responded that we just got our food and she once again said that she can't do anything about it and that 15 minutes should be enough to finish the food. This really spoiled our whole idea of dinning in. We couldn't finish our food on time so had to take it with us. At 17:00 they started to clean up the table even though we we're still eating. This was the worst restaurant experience. The food was great but the customor service was horrible. The owner should have been transparent when she saw the food would be late and already let us know about the closing so we could have chosen if we wanted to stay or leave. This horrible experience was not even compensated. We were not the only customers that this happend too! Reggae Rita needs to do better than this!

Don’t be discouraged by the riff raff in the area, this spot is fully worthwhile! Jerk chicken takes me straight back to summers at Notting Hill carnival. The oxtail was crazy juicy and sweet potato fries are the best I’ve had in the country. Looking forward to my next visit!

The jerk chicken starter was very good. The plantains were quite dry and the oxtails were very tasty. The only problem is that the oxtail portion is quite small.

Authentic tender and juicy Jamaican jerk chicken and oxtail. I recommend the fresh juices on the menu they were delicious and we didn’t have to wait long for the food. Service was excellent. Will be back again

Not even in Chicago can you find such authentic flavors of Jamaican cuisine. The Jerk chicken was amazing. The service was just as amazing, and the restaurant itself is very peaceful and cozy, with some nice yard vibes. I'll definitely go back again. Bless up!
