Nice pub in the center of Maastricht

They advertise Guinness everywhere; every way you look, you see Guinness, Guinness, and more Guinness. But then you order a Guinness, and you don't even get a Guinness glass. SHAMEFUL!!! On top of that, you pay almost twice as much as at a normal Irish pub. Don't go there, they can't even split the ‘G’ 🤬. EDIT AFTER OWNER'S RESPONSE: review already written in the pub, so false accusations about stealing glasses won't work... good luck!

Very nice place to get a piece of Ireland in the Netherlands. We were looking for a pub with live music and suddenly came across this pub. The girl who sang did it very professionally and inspiredly. Kilkenny tasted good. I can only recommend this place for rest and recovery.

This isn't your typical Irish pub. They play a wide variety of music, making for a completely different atmosphere than you might expect. If you're specifically looking for an authentic Irish atmosphere, you're better off skipping this one.

I was really looking forward to the pub quiz. We booked a table for four online and even received a confirmation, but when we arrived they couldn’t find our reservation and there was no table available. Very disappointing.

We visited on December 25th and were absolutely delighted. John Mullins Irish Pub makes you feel instantly welcome – a true place to "arrive." We especially want to highlight the incredibly friendly service. Since we're from Germany and don't speak Dutch, they went out of their way to make us feel at ease. Communication worked wonderfully with a mix of a little German and some gestures – incredibly friendly and warm! The food was also top-notch: the Grolsch Autumn Beer (0.0) herfstbier was delicious, and the fries were exactly as they should be. A great stopover before continuing our journey. If you're in Maastricht and looking for an authentic, welcoming atmosphere, this is the place to be. We'll definitely be back!

Not the Irish pub you expect after visiting Dublin, but still the Guinnes and the Kilkenny were quite nice. The food is sadly average and not includes any really Irish special dishes if not sausage and beans. I do know in Ireland bios also don't usually serve special food, but it was a good kissed chance to share something really traditional from their country and not simply nachos.

My brothers and I decided to try a real Irish pub and this was the right choice. Food and drinks were ok as we expected and the beers was spilled and served in the right way expecially the Guinness. Service was nice expecially the young guy, ordering can be done by the bar or wait for one of them to ask. We will come back for sure for the Irish breakfast to try and for others beers. In Maastricht ? That’s simply the place to be

The full irish breakfast (or breakfast rolls) always hits the right spot, especially after a rowdy night out. The service on weekend mornings is really great and the pub is pretty empty. Have only been on week nights a few times, but it's always been an enjoyable experience. I like this place, it's less popular among students but the spirits are high!

A real Irish pub. I've been coming here regularly for years for the fun pub quiz on Thursday nights. Thankfully, the sound quality has improved these days. They have a wide selection of beers and drinks. If you're a whiskey lover, you'll have more choices here than most other places in Maastricht. Mullins' extensive menu also includes plenty of fried pub food, which comes in generous portions and is delicious. Oh, and don't expect coffee.

I don't think they were interested in us. The drinks were good, but we waited 20 minutes for a menu that we'd asked for twice. So we just left...

We've been there for the third time in two months now. The welcome is and remains fantastic. It's exactly what we expect from a pub, and they're exceptionally child-friendly (oh yeah, and the rugby matches are fantastic!)

First time for me here, but what a Wonderfull place. Super Amazing food. And great service my place to be in Maastricht. And that from a Belgian 😉

It took a while before I realised you had to order everything at the bar. And when i had ordered a meal it took quite a while to be prepared. I had the burger (Angus Beef), and it was good but a bit too much garnish. The sauce leaked everywhere. But it was tasty and more than enough. Coincidentally there also was a pubquiz. I didn't join until a team asked me to join, and it was good fun. So I would recommend for the beers and the fun, but if you want to have a quick bite to eat I recommend to find some other establishment.

Food was very slow, had to go back up to ask for a knife and fork. Other than that it's an ok spot.

Not PTSD friendly. Wanted to eat here today with my family. When we were trying to seat ourselves, one of the wait staff poked me in the back and shouted something in my ears. I did not see him coming and his actions triggered me to the point I had to leave immediatly. Tip for staff: don’t touch people or shout at them to get something done. I almost had a violent response, and absolutely no-one wants that, me in the least.

The irish stew was very tasty with mashed potatoes. And the Guinness was delicious.

John Mullins in Maastricht is the place where you want to be for a fun evening! Think of the warm atmosphere of a real Irish pub, with friendly faces and of course a perfect pint of Guinness. The interior is cozy, and the staff knows exactly how to make you feel welcome. Whether you come for a quick drink or an evening full of good conversations and live music, it always feels like coming home here. In addition, genuinely good food, nice atmosphere and plenty of fun - this is a pub where you will definitely want to come back again!

Great live music, brilliant service and atmosphere

+ nice place to sit + cozy establishment + food and drinks were OK - Lousy handling and service. I have never seen so many things going wrong here before. Ordered 6 times and still not good. Choice of 2 dishes and it will then take another 2 hours before everyone has food. No control at all unfortunately and no saving grace either. They mainly blame the customer, but they should learn to look in the mirror themselves. Given that the response below also shows; These people don't understand their profession at all.

Very disappointing experience. They serve a fish and ship with Mayo and ketchup ! while on the menu it mentions sauce tartare! When I asked for the sauce this unpleasant 50’s man tells me they do not have and that a it- they should remove it of the menu if there were professional or announce it before serving… the guy should also go for a class to be polite as when I asked he rudely answer ‘I cannot fabricate it’ Also no lemon and very overcooked fries… a total disappointment, not the Irish pub experience, and very not pleasant manager.

A regular, average Irish pub. However, the white house wine was much too sour. We came for the live music, but it was nothing to listen to. The beer was just okay.

Stayed here on 31 Dec in the hours leading up to NYE. The atmosphere is really really good. Very welcoming, cozy, good music and friendly helpful staff. We ordered a burger and fish 'n chips: they were great too! Only downside was that we could not order at the table but had to order at the bar which meant standing in line every now and then. I really liked this place and if I'm ever in Maastricht again I'll definitely go back :)

Wat is hier gebeurd de afgelopen jaren? Dit was jaren geleden een mooie kroeg maar na de waarschijnllijke overname heeft de nieuwe eigenaar besloten dat er ook wel hoge prijzen zonder enige service te vragen zijn..niet dus... Een kopje thee ( zonder schoteltje,suiker,lepel en koekje )voor 3,50 euro,serieus? Ook is de kroeg vreselijk vies,grote spinnewebben aan de lampen,gore menukaarten en de toiletten zijn werkelijk zo VIES dat je er niet durft te zitten....Stop met deze kroeg op deze manier uit te baten en ga wat anders doen,Schaam je uitbater!!!

Zeer onvriendelijk! De tafels naast ons kregen nog eten geserveerd maar het was voor ons te laat blijkbaar…geen enkel probleem maar de gastvrijheid bleef uit.

Called in here on St. Patrick's day and whilst we thought the bar itself was quite nice on entry, I have to say that the service was simply chaotic, and in no way anything like it should be in any decent Irish bar. There was a great big long bar counter which 3 or 4 bar staff could easily have been serving drinks over, but customers had to queue at one end of it and order from just one guy, who gave a piece of paper to another guy, who then poured the drinks. It was so utterly inefficient, I can honestly say that I've never seen worse. Why they could just not both muck in and pour drinks for the hordes of thirsty customers I simply could not work out. Someone else had bought the first drink, so I was oblivious to this until I went to the bar to order a second one, only to be told by the barman to go to the end of the queue. Well there were 9 or 10 people in the queue, so I reckoned that I'd be standing there for at least half an hour, so we just left. I actually saw a tray of drinks on the bar with a piece of till roll sellotaped to a pint of Guinness! God knows whether those drinks ever found their owners. Irish bar? I don't think so. No Irish licensee would run a bar like that. It was Paddy's day for goodness sake, they should have known they'd be busy.

So today we went to Maastricht and I was surprised, because Google maps told me, that there should have been six Irish pubs… I went around and saw 4 of them, but I have to be honest - I only opened the door to this one (when I’ve been at the others I looked through the windows, but no. Just no…) So we’ve been here at John Mullins Irish pub. It’s a good one. You can get good drinks and there is also a good variety oh them. They also have vegetarian food and the nachos were quite fine (just have a look at the menu), but maybe a little expensive for this amount you will get. They also had live music, which was really lovely this evening. A lot of Irish music and a good singer (well the first one this evening, the other guy…) What you have to know… there is no service. You have to get your own drinks at the bar and also your food. No service also means, that there are a lot of glasses and bottles on the tables…. And there is no Wi-Fi for you, sometimes you won’t have internet access, because it doesn’t work inside… But it is a good pub, if you want to feel kind of home…
