As a student I must say this feels like an incredibly hostike enviroment, the food and coffee is incredibly expensive and also very bad quality. But if you bring your own food there's a very real chance that someone will come and yell and call security trying to kick you out.

Nice spot in the middle of The Hague to eat and study, or just quietly enjoy a delicious carrot cake or other treats.

Boycott this crap place. Food is terrible, everything is unclean. This kind of place has no business operating. They keep deleting my reviews but I will keep posting them. Stay away

In the old building of KC, the kantine used to be accessible to students. Reasonable prices and decent quality. That is gone, unfortunately... The new kantine is rising prices progressively in an educational institute, hurting the student's wallet and financial possibilities. This kantine is FOR THE STUDENTS. The prices are getting more and more luxurious while the food is decreasing quality (except the wok ❤️). There isn't a good relation between price and quality. Other renowned music universities connected to KC with in.Tune are able to protect the students from rising inflation with very accessible prices (4€ for a warm meal). A warm meal in Statskantine is almost 10 € (the smaller plates can't feed a student properly). We the students deserve better food and prices protected from inflation. This is supposed to be OUR PLACE, not a pseudo-gourmet establishment.

Had a delicious lunch and great coffee. Lots of different items, and it was great that there were so many salads. Highly recommended for a quick bite in The Hague city center!

A lovely place that feels more like a covered city square than a restaurant. The chef was very friendly. I ordered the dinner deal and got a huge stir-fry (seemed like a double portion). The food is simple but good. It's also great that this is a social enterprise!

Cashiers are totally clueless and confused. Yesterday I asked for a coin when I returned my to-go cup, but the guy had no idea what I was talking about even in Dutch. I had to explain to him how it worked. Today I wanted the warm drink + cinnamon roll deal as advertised on the board at the entrance, but the cashier didn’t know why I was asking for a discount.

The food is reasonably priced. The sandwich and salad are fresh and with many varieties. Although soup is sometimes a bit salty and the warm meal is not so tasty. Staff are friendly. I find it a good place for lunch or coffee break.

I’m very confused by all the low reviews here. This place has the most affordable and decent lunch options in the entire Wijnhaven area. I love that you can choose from a buffet and have a whole plate of warm food for lunch for around 5€, especially since it’s mostly vegetarian! I’m curious what the reviewers here think of other university cafeterias and Albert Heijn, since they are all so much more expensive with worse quality. Edit: unfortunately I have to adjust my 5-star review, because since then, the prices have significantly gone up and the quality went down. Last time, I paid 7.44€ for 1/4 of a plate with vegetables and 3.50€ for one of the worst coffees I’ve had. The atmosphere has also completely changed. I sadly won’t be going back unless things change

Im sorry that apparently the working conditions are so bad that the people working there dont really care about what they serve to customers. I ordered a chai which is made with a powder (which already is not great). The guy just pressed the button for hot water then going on his phone to play music while he overfilled the cup with to much water and no space for the milk. While i was looking and he was vibin to the music playing from his phone speakers he just poured away half of the already way to too thinned out chai added the milk so now im left with a watery warm bevarage in which the chai flavour is as much present as the employees motivation for his job. On all levels not really satisfying.

I am usually forgiving of this place, but the red velvet cake I got was ENTIRELY stale. They should not have been serving that.

Dismal food and atmosphere - a failed bubble, doesn't have the vibe of a central hub for city residents to gather nor a place that has student friendly prices. Cashiers are pleasant, pre-packaged food OK. Constantly a radio barking top hits ad nauseum - definitely not a place for a relaxing escape during a meal.

Prices too high for a canteen that defines itself as "for students". Quality absolutely not in relation to the prices

Horrible coffee and extremely expensive, 3.15€ for a flat white (with student discount). As if that wasn't bad enough the sofas were very dirty with dried up stains.

Is there a way of giving 0 stars? Everything is expensive (which could be okay if the food was on par with the prices), and the coffee tastes like feces. Disgusting and not student-friendly.

Maybe google reviews will change something. This is definitely not a student friendly canteen. We understand this canteen serves the whole building of Amare but 90% of your regular costumers are students from KC and it’s really difficult to rely on the canteen due to its expensive price, small portions and poor choice. The staff is great, polite and most of the times very helpful! 1€ for 2 pieces of reporposed fruit and 2,50€ for AH chocolate brodje is outragous. I would suggest to give a break to your staff and focus on changing the higher positions that want to turn a student cantine in a posh place nobody wants.

Now visited and eaten for the fourth time, also with guests. Amare was drawn to it via the tour. Very tasty, well seasoned, nice choice of honest dishes, friendly and helpful kitchen staff. Cozy and clean presentation, inviting and surprisingly affordable. Spacious various seating/work area. Definitely recommended to visit here too. ♡ Especially if you also know that this project has a socially supportive objective for and with people who have skills and affinity.

Despite the nice staff people working there the food is too expensive, especially for students, and often of very poor quality.

I thought this was a nice flexible workspace. Good seats with enough sockets. I don't really understand the negative reviews about the prices, they have tasty sandwiches and soups for only 3.50 each. The setting is like a canteen, self-service where you get your food and drinks with a tray, find a seat and clean up your mess afterwards. Ideal for a day of work, there are also many students who work on assignments alone or in groups, so you certainly won't look out of place with a laptop.

Alas, what I did discovereth hath left mine purse in lamentation and mine palate in despair! Verily, this establishment claimeth to be accessible to all, yet priceth their wares as if they were carved from solid gold. Upon entering, one would expecteth a feast fit for a scholar, but alas, the food offered therein doth not match the lofty claims of grandeur. The fare, though plentiful, lacketh the spark of culinary excellence. Methinks the chefs hath forgotten their most basic of recipes, for the dishes serv'd tasteth neither delightful nor memorable. 'Tis a pitiable sight to behold when a simple loaf of bread or a humble bowl of soup doth not satisfy one's hunger, and yet the price for such modest repasts be exorbitant.

"This canteen is for everyone"... This on your website must be a joke. Ridiculous prices for small portions. This canteen is absolutely not suitable for students who often just need a simple snack for a cheap price. You should be deeply ashamed of yourselves.

Great place to slow down and relax a moment. It's basically a canteen, but the people here are chill and the environment is pretty and decent. Most tables have power outlets, so you can work/study here too.
