Kota Radja in Hoge Zijde

Quite disappointing, actually. I placed an order via their own website. A product was missing (bami), and it was delivered relatively quickly after a phone call. That can happen, of course. They also called back politely afterwards and offered another apology. In hindsight, it was because they gave me two half portions instead of one large one containing the bami and one half portion. It is a bit of a shame, especially when you find out; they should have included the other half of the babi pangang right away instead of with the next order. I am afraid there won't be a next order this way... because was it actually tasty? The Foe Yong Hai was really massively burnt with bits of eggshell still in it here and there. I was able to throw the whole container in the trash after one bite. The babi pangang was tasty, but it seemed like there was more atjar tjampoer than meat in it. The bami was very tasty, but I think it ended up being half a container too. In the past, I have always been able to order and eat here just fine. But now? I'll just look elsewhere. This is really a shame.

Bad customer service. Upon arriving home, we discovered there was pork in the bami. We called and were told we could come pick up a new batch. Once on location, we asked the gentleman if there was pork in the nasi as well; the gentleman said no. However, when we arrived back home, we saw that there was pork in the nasi after all. We called again, the gentleman raised his voice on the phone, and we said we were being a nuisance. In the end, we hung up. The gentleman also refuses to refund the cost of the nasi, and the food itself isn't very tasty either. So, we'll have to go back tomorrow to find a solution for this.

Treated very poorly, and the food wasn't very tasty this time either, after it was delivered an hour late with a small extra ice cream (she said 900 grams), when it was actually a 300-gram ice cream. Calling didn't do much good either; a bit of a shame this time.

Poor service. We ordered after a hard day's work because we had a good experience with Kota Radja. After an hour, our food still hadn't arrived, so we called the restaurant. Our food had been delivered to someone else's house. 🤷 It happens. Some respect for that, but we still had to wait 15 minutes for our food. It was either no food and a refund, or food after 15 minutes and no refund! They admit they were wrong, but there was no way to get compensation; nothing was negotiable. Never ordering from them again!

We ordered the holiday menu (for 3 people) and were thrilled. Large portions, fair price and above all: it tasted good!

Delicious food, definitely the best Chinese in the area

After reading some good and bad reviews, I decided to place an order. I chose the spring roll menu with foe yong hai. It was delivered within a reasonable time, friendly delivery person. The package was greasy because 1 container had leaked. The satay sticks were sticking out of the container so they didn't close properly. The spring roll: lots of bean sprouts and a piece of chicken here and there. There was a little bit of other green food, but not too much. The dough was soft, but the taste was okay. The foe yong hai was decent, lots of red sauce. Chicken satay was also decent, enough peanut sauce. All in all tasty, but not a second time. In addition, there were many additional costs: Packaging: 0.40 euro cents, delivery costs: 3.50 euros and transaction costs: 0.25 euro cents. The total is 4.15 euros. I think that's quite a lot of money. The menu was 12.90 euros.

Meat was very fatty, it was a real disappointment and never again!

This is no longer what it used to be, unfortunately..... If you indicate 'without mushrooms' and these are still included: too bad. If you send another email about this, you will not receive a response. I didn't think the rest of the food was that good anyway.

Na lange tijd hier een bestelling gedaan. Een zeer vriendelijke dame bracht de bestelling, hoewel afgesproken dat we zouden pinnen had ze geen pinautomaat meegekregen. Toen we alles uitpakten bleek dat we waarschijnlijk een verkeerde bestelling hadden gekregen maar we zijn gaan eten omdat we al hadden moeten wachten en we trek hadden en dachten, dit lossen we later op. Na ongeveer 10 minuten werden we gebeld door het restaurant dat de helft van onze bestelling verkeerd was, ik merkte op dat we eerst verder gingen eten want dat we niet wilden wachten op een gedeeltelijke vervanging. Gedurende het eten bleek dat er helemaal niets klopte van de bestelling. Na het eten contact opgenomen met de mededeling dat we een terugbetaling wilden van het bijbestelde (wat we ook niet hadden gekregen) en dat we het daarmee wilden afwikkelen (€14 op een bestelling van €65 die waarschijnlijk rond de €45 was maar totaal anders dan we besteld hadden) Wat er toen gebeurde was werkelijk ongelooflijk! de schuld werd eigenlijk naar ons toe geschoven en terugbetalen deden ze nooit! Dus een restaurant maakt een fout, dat kan gebeuren, en wil het dan oplossen door een half tot een uur later de rest te brengen maar dat kon helemaal niet want alles was verkeerd! wat een bar slechte service en domme opstelling van de eigenaar. gezien de reactie hier wordt het tijd dat er wat meer aandacht aan de service wordt besteed! Voor ons nooit meer hierheen of bestellen!!

Placed an order here after a long time. A very friendly lady brought the order, although we had agreed that we would pay by card, she had not been given an ATM. When we unpacked everything, it turned out that we had probably received the wrong order, but we went to eat because we had already had to wait and we were hungry and thought we would solve this later. After about 10 minutes we received a call from the restaurant that half of our order was wrong, I noted that we continued eating first because we did not want to wait for a partial replacement. During the meal it turned out that the order was completely incorrect. Contacted us after dinner to say that we wanted a refund for the additional order (which we had not received) and that we wanted to settle it with that (€14 on an order of €65 which was probably around €45 but completely different than we ordered) What happened next was truly incredible! the debt was actually shifted to us and they never repaid! So a restaurant makes a mistake, that can happen, and then wants to solve it by bringing the rest half to an hour later, but that was not possible at all because everything was wrong! what terrible service and stupid attitude of the owner. Given the response here, it is time that more attention was paid to the service! We will never go here or order again!!

Food is becoming less and more expensive. Charge for everything (packaging surcharge and bag) but legal alternative bring your own is not accepted. I won't go here again.

Good food, quick service for pick up

Very friendly and polite service by a young woman. The owner was in the kitchen today and she can cook, bake and stir-fry really well!! Compliments!! We were the only ones in the restaurant, which was a shame for the fun, but luckily we had a lot of fun together. We opted for the Kota Radja rice table and also had a soup beforehand. Really delicious food again! We would love to come back again!

Always good in the past, but lately the quality has deteriorated considerably. For example babipangang bacon, a lot of bacon but certainly not crispy anymore. Spring rolls are not crispy but soft on the outside and float in the fat in the container. Floats a layer of fat on the satay sauce. Last time delivered almost an hour later than stated time. Food was lukewarm, while in the past it was still warm. No phone call either, it's very busy, I don't mind if it gets a little later. Sorry, but we are going to look for another address.

We bestellen al bij 15 jaar bij Kota Radja. Nu na een lange tijd weer besteld. En helaas niet geregen zoals wij gewend waren. De Chiew Yim Kai was altijd droog gebakken en veel kip. Nu halve bak vol met paprika en de stukjes kip was er bijna niet in terug te vinden, zo duur betaald. Ook de Babi pangang zit vol met vet. Echt zonde van mijn geld. Hier bestellen wij nooit meer!

I have been coming to this restaurant for takeout for many years. For me, this restaurant is/was the best in Alphen. However, the last time (24-01-2024) I just had nasi and at home when I was serving it struck me: it is different. Very sticky and the texture was different. There was enough egg and meat in it, but the taste was not what I was used to. I think this was nasi from a kilo container from a supermarket that had been heated up in a microwave. I was very disappointed. I don't know if I will get my “Chinese” from this restaurant again in the future.

Not a good word to describe about this restaurant. Firstly, €80 spent on far too little food. Normally you have way too much. Secondly, the food was delivered incorrectly. Delivery lady called and spoke poor Dutch. Hopefully, please provide the correct address. Thirdly when our food was delivered we had cold food! Not lukewarm but COLD. Called the restaurant and was treated very poorly. ;"but I was there within 5 minutes" when I spoke to her about the wrong delivery. "But you ate it anyway" when I talked to her about the cold food. Wow, don't start a conversation with this lady. Everything was downplayed!!!! People don't buy food here. Very customer unfriendly and food could be much tastier. Maybe the Great Wall of China is an option?!

The food was very bad, the spring rolls were stale and smelly and the rest did not smell fresh either. I got another spring roll but it also smelled so it went straight into the waste bin. I was a regular customer but now I will never get anything from there again.

Been a customer at another Chinese restaurant in Alphen for over thirty years, now ordered various dishes here on the recommendation of friends. What top quality!! Spring roll with chicken, chunks of chicken and not bean sprouts with tiny pieces of chicken. Nasi with chicken, fry Nasi (with egg) and a large bowl of vegetables, and not brown rice with pieces of pepper and lots of onion!! What a difference, we are convinced!! Class Kota Radja!!

The food was tasty, but normally if you order Chinese you will eat at least 2 days of it. Now we were short, almost 75 euros was paid for so little. We were in shock and fear that this will be the last time. Order Chinese again soon with a group. but not here anymore. I should have said good Chinese and a lot of it, but it was not explained on the phone that we had to eat it with 11 people, but it was all served very sparingly, which is a shame.

Have been a customer there for 20 years. Sometimes with some delivery problems. But yes, the products are tasty. Yesterday I ordered Pangsit, Mihoen with pork and Foe Yong Hai. When unpacking it turned out that the container of noodles worth € 12.00 had shrunk considerably. So delivered less for a higher amount. Not only does this smell like a scam, but it is. When asked, the lady behind the counter says: we ALWAYS use that container for the Mihoen. What a fool to say that. Like I said, I've been ordering there for years. So I won't be doing that anymore from yesterday.

Good Chinese restaurant often comes here to pick up meals, good quality, fast service, absolutely great.

The food here is tasty, though nothing exceptional. The food preparation times are ridiculously fast, usually it's done within 10 minutes. Food quality does not seem to suffer from this. Prices are average for this type of food, with a nice portion size. You can easily eat this on multiple days. Pickup is definitely worth your time if you like dogs, on some days there is a really cute Shiba Inu roaming the restaurant.

Have been ordering from Kota Radja for years, food tastes good but they always forget to add the sambal even though it is clearly indicated, is this really so difficult, dear people of Kota Radja?

It doesn't matter which (side) dish you order, everything is in one pile and from the same stock / pan. Mihoen *.* and you get the same food, we ordered two different ones but could not distinguish any difference.

Taking away is a nightmare at this Chinese restaurant. Wait times for both pick-up and dine-in orders are more than an hour. Location of this restaurant is crap with regard to parking. Employees do not come to a compromise after having to wait so long. When you get home, what you ordered is not correct. I do not recommend this Chinese restaurant unless you order via home delivery. This is their priority, not the customer who orders directly from the restaurant itself!

Owner drives like a man possessed. Cuts people off, almost hits cyclists and plays games on public roads. When we asked the gentleman (owner of the business) about it, he laughed. Reason enough to never order from here again. There are plenty of other places in Alphen where you can order delicious Chinese food. Such as in Vanesstraat.

Wow!!! How delicious the food was tonight! The vegetarian dishes were really tasty. A really big compliment about the very wide vegetarian offering! Not just remove the meat from all dishes, but a really tasty vegetarian alternative to traditional dishes. Too bad we only discovered this restaurant now, but we will order here from now on!

I am so happy with kota Radja, Kota Radja is one of the best Chinese in Alphen, I often order there and I notice that the food is always fresh and full of flavor. My food is always on time and always nice and hot. I LOVE KOTA RADJA!

Delicious food. We always have it delivered and that is usually done within a reasonable time and it is always warm/hot. I just don't think the babi pangang is always of the same quality. We regularly order lean babi pangang, but I have the feeling that it contains more fat than normal.

Ordered several meals on 8/3/2020. The delivery person brought 1 plastic bag with various products. Shortly afterwards we received a call asking if we had received one or two bags. The second bag was then announced and delivered after 10 minutes. Then we could sit down for food that was no longer warm. There was no apology on the phone call. Even after that we were not contacted again whether it had been satisfactory. I don't think that is style and I will no longer use the services of this company.
