La Barraca in Wijk 00 Centrum

An average tapas restaurant overall. The menu is quite limited, and the food was okay but nothing special. The service was friendly, which was a plus, but there wasn’t much else that stood out. Fine for a casual meal, but not particularly memorable.

La Barraca – a huge disappointment due to poor preparation and mediocre quality Our visit to La Barraca was unfortunately a huge disappointment on all fronts. What's presented as a Spanish restaurant, in practice, has little to do with Spanish cuisine. Not only is the authenticity lacking, but the preparation of the dishes is also downright poor. The skewer was a painful example of this: three small pieces of meat, tasteless and clearly not prepared with care. The meat was dry and bland, indicating poor preparation. For the price charged, this is simply unacceptable. The tortilla was also a huge disappointment. Instead of a proper Spanish tortilla, we received a dish that resembled a hastily thrown together farmer's omelet: a fried egg with some potato inside, lacking texture, flavor, and refinement. Another clear example of poor preparation. The absolute low point was the prawns. This dish was utterly laughable: six small prawns in a shell container, completely drowned in grease. They were so fatty and heavy that they were barely edible. Any sense of balance or skill was lacking. Furthermore, the price for this dish was €9, which was completely out of proportion. All in all: poor preparation, low quality, no Spanish identity, and prices completely out of proportion to what was served. A very disappointing experience, and absolutely no reason for us to return.

The food was incredibly delicious, and the kids were thrilled. My wife was also delighted with the food, so thank you for the wonderful time. It was great that you could order via QR code, but unfortunately there were times when the signal was poor (Vodafone) and it was difficult to order smoothly.

Good food (tapas) at a very reasonable price. Friendly staff. No long waits. Located in the Wijck neighborhood, much quieter than the city center.

Such a lovely little place in the centre of Maastricht! We went as 2 vegetarians as we saw the standard veggie tapas options (bread and aioli, roasted veggies, nachos, etc) so thought it would be fine but it was so much better than expected! All our 5 dishes were fantastic, the timing between dishes being brought was perfect. It was not busy when we went. Staff were lovely! We had red wine which was incredible and some cocktails that were also great! Strong and delicious. We have no pictures as we are everything so quickly! We can’t speak for the meat options but I’m sure it’s just as good!

We spontaneously went to La Barraca for dinner. The welcome was friendly and good. Then we ordered drinks and a round of tapas with various dishes. What a disappointment. The tenderloin skewers (cost: 9.50) were really small (twice the size of a cocktail stick) and ice cold. At first, you think: it happens. Then the pan con tomate appeared. The tomato mix had an artificial flavor and seemed ready-made. Next came the piece de resistance: cauliflower in tempura. This was simply laughable. Not-quite-cooked cauliflower pieces in a sticky mess. Was this supposed to be the tempura batter? We have no idea; it wasn't crispy at all. In fact, I think it would make you really sick. And again: cold. And no flavor. The patatas bravas were okay, but you'd have to try really hard to ruin them. We were glad we didn't order anything after this round. We paid and quickly left. The service was friendly and apologized several times. But of course that cannot compensate for a complete lack of tasty and warm dishes.

We went to La Barraca for dinner last night and really enjoyed it! Delicious red wine 😉 and the music really completes the atmosphere!

The food was all cold. The coffee was also cold. The sangria was delicious. Waited three hours for nachos without the meatballs because they were all gone. Service was poor. Not going back.

We hadn't been there in a while, so we thought, let's go.... A few years ago, this was a really good tapas place. But now, WORTHLESS! ....Do you have time to read this???? -We came in and weren't even greeted politely; the staff were laughing and hanging out with the chefs in front of the kitchen. When we were shown to our seats, before we were even seated, they immediately came to ask what we wanted to drink or eat. We were like, "Can we please take a seat and take off our coats?" Well, I thought, give her some wine, then she'll be happy to have something to do... Then the tapas: - The gambas al ajillio were just floating in a bowl of oil. There was a clove of garlic and a chili pepper in it—no garlic flavor at all. It wasn't even olive oil, really awful. It tasted like nothing at all. - The rest of the tapas were also completely worthless. Not Spanish at all. A real disgrace to Spanish cuisine! (Which is really nice when the chef makes an effort to prepare good tapas.) - The tortilla was absolutely awful. It was just beaten egg, a bit of onion, and some potatoes, nothing more, no flavor, absolutely nothing tasty (see the photo). - The calamari in beer batter was plain, and even that was tough and super greasy; the oil just ran out. - And almost every tapa came with a sauce—aioli, peppercorn sauce? Roquefort sauce? If you season your meat/dishes properly, like in Spain, this isn't even necessary. - The only thing that was tasty: the Pan con Amor, the only recommendation on the menu. - Everything else was way too expensive for what they give you. At least €9.50 per portion, and a carpaccio (tapas) was €14.50! No shame... And NONE of the tapas gave you the "feeling" of being transported to Spain, which I always experienced when we dined there last year and in previous years. I actually wanted to leave as quickly as possible, but I was glad to have some quality time with my husband after a long, busy period. - After a while, the music stopped. The staff didn't even realize this was happening, and we had to ask them to turn it back on. 😅 What a shame, considering the cozy decor... - The staff was also very pushy (from the moment we walked in). We were in conversation, and she was just standing next to us at the table, interrupting us with her tablet. "Do we want to order something?" Um, no, we'll call you when we're ready... - We drank Verdejo wine, which was delicious, but the staff couldn't even pour two equal, good glasses of wine. The girl had absolutely no idea how to do this, so it was only half a glass of wine. She was, however, the nicest and most Dutch-speaking member of the staff. **A few years ago, I regularly visited this place, but as of yesterday, I've promised myself I won't spend any more money there, TOO BAD!! We paid €135, we were still hungry, and nothing tasted good except for two dishes and the wine.... It used to be a good tapas bar with a great atmosphere, but the quality has gone downhill dramatically. TOO BAD!!!! for the owner..........

This restaurant is located in the center of Maastricht and offers a good food menu. The portions are generous and, although sometimes the food takes a little while to arrive, it always comes out hot, which is something I really appreciate and value. The only thing I would change is that the place could have a bit more space, but other than that, it’s incredible and you eat very well here.

Very cozy restaurant with delicious Spanish dishes/tapas. Not just the standard tapas that you can get everywhere but some specialties. The place itself is very busy but nicely decorated. Waitresses are attentive and friendly. They take orders at the table or you can order food and drinks yourself via the QR code which is very handy if they are too busy to come and take your orders. The wine is a bit expensive for the quality you get. Price quality for the food is certainly fine.

We were lucky. It wasn't too crowded. The food arrived quickly and was absolutely delicious. The tapas weren't too big, so we were able to try more. The service was very attentive. Thank you for a lovely evening.

Waren zum Abendessen dort. Die Auswahl an Tapas ist gut. Die gemischten Käsetapas sind mega. Besonders lecker war der Manchego mit Mokka bestreut. Der eingelegte Bauch war so zart, das ich kaum das Messer brauchte. Leider ist die Akustik etwas ungünstig, so das es,wenn es voll ist sehr laut ist.

Had dinner here for the first time yesterday and mainly chose the location because we had an appointment opposite. We are really pleasantly surprised. It was all very tasty. Not only the food but also the cocktails and wine were very tasty. Best caipirinha ever (only the pina colada could have had a little more flavor, it mainly tasted like cream). Very nice, attractively decorated place too. And, not unimportantly: a clean toilet😁 A barrier-free entrance (or threshold assistance) for wheelchair users would be a nice addition because there are no good tapas restaurants in Maastricht where someone with a wheelchair can easily enter. Oh yes, service was great too!

Wildly disappointing bland often frozen food. Worst tapas me and my father ever had. We had to reorder our food multiple times. If you’re looking for good food or reliable service don’t come here!

Based on the reviews we chose this restaurant because we really like Spanish food. Unfortunately it did not meet our expectations. More like the sister/la cubinata tapas than good Spanish. Price/quality is absolutely not in proportion. Sangria was very tasty.

We really enjoyed the atmosphere and the food. One of the better Spanish restaurants in the country. There are also many options for vegetarians! Dishes that I can recommend are the fried cauliflower and of course the patatas bravas! The service was very friendly: I had forgotten my scarf and they sent it to me free of charge, really class!

My girlfriend says she had the best tiramisu of her life here. That man who was working in that denim suit on the evening of December 28th is a legend 😀

We wanted to eat tapas on our short trip to Maastricht and that's how we came across La Barraca. On the first evening we didn't have a reservation, unfortunately there were no tables left. We then made a reservation for the next evening, which is really easy to do via the website. When we went back the next evening there was a small handwritten sign with our name waiting on our table. What a nice gesture! The service was really super friendly and accommodating. We particularly enjoyed the “Croquetas sorpresa” and the “Cheese Balls”. Only the "Champiñones con serrano" couldn't convince us. We felt very well looked after there the whole evening and can warmly recommend the restaurant. The two of us ordered 8 tapas (including bread), with two drinks and an espresso per person we came to a total of around €90. Not cheap, but worth it! We'd love to come back!

Just walked in on spec, hoping for a table for 2 and after some fiddling around I got a table for 2. I have visited many tapas restaurants but this one really hit all the boxes! Service... great! Atmosphere... great! And then of course what we come for, the food, really..... on the scale of 0 to 10 I give a 12! Insanely delicious! I will definitely do the ride from Tilburg to Maastricht more often! Highly recommended.

Live muziek en tapas, We zijn met een paar vrienden gegaan om te luisteren naar de live muziek die in La Barraca te horen is ongeveer 2 x per maand. Het was fantastisch! en ook nog heerlijk gegeten.

We went with 4 persons to get some tapas for dinner and one is a vegetarian, so we ordered several ones in 2,5 hours: 2 times bread with aioli, 1 special dish of day: 2 pieces of melon with parma ham, 2 pieces of bread with grilled paprika & zucchini and some unbattered calamari with tomato sauce, 1 times big portion cheese balls (didn't taste nice/bad texture), 1 times meat balls (albondigas) in spicy sauce, 1 times tempura coliflor (tasted real bad, almost no dough and very squishy), 1 times buratta with tomatoes, 1 times patata bravas, 1 times nachos with sour cream (mwah very squishy not crisp). All the others were good, but looking to price/quality, WE will not go back!

This tapas restaurant is located in one of the nicest streets in Maastricht, in the Rechtstraat in the Wyck district. There is a nice and cozy atmosphere. We ordered a number of tapas here and they were all delicious and of good quality. The service was also perfect. Definitely a place to come back again!

After trying many MANY restaurants in maastricht; this is by far the best on all levels. Service is always fantastic, food is always great & everyone eats for an unbeatable price. Peanut free facility which is a plus for me ! I always bring my traveling guests to LA bodega & it never disappoints.

Delicious real Spanish tapas restaurant. Even the service is Spanish. You order a few dishes and after a while they bring it to your table. The dishes come to the kitchen when it suits, but it doesn't take too long. Everything nice and fresh. The homemade brownie is especially recommended. Enjoy an idyllic Spanish dinner all evening.

Delicious food and good service

Service / operation: Unfortunately, the order turned out not to have been taken correctly; In addition to all other dishes, we ordered 3x alabondigas, but only once was served. Immediately indicated this and asked several times, but until the end it was still not served. Finally, after asking 4 times, it was brought 20 minutes after we had already eaten. Same with the chocolate we ordered with coffee. First the coffee and tea were brought and 15 minutes later the desserts and chocolates; by then the tea/coffee was already gone. This was indicated, but nothing was done about it, except 'sorry'. A coffee/tea on the house would have been appropriate. Price/quality: chicken wings (8€) were not marinated and had no taste. Monchego (5€) were 4 mini pieces, tenderloin (9€) dry, tough and cold.

Slechte ontvangst, koud brood vooraf, bittere paprika en bijna koude patatas bravas, nachos waren zacht. De wijn was redelijk. Zelfs na 3 keer de klacht geen echte erkenning danwel excuses. Toen zijn we weggegaan en uiteindelijk heerlijk gegeten bij café de Bóbbel.

Vanavond heerlijk gegeten bij La Barraca. Fantastische tapas en de bediening was super. Een kleine Spaanse jonge dame Monica en een Franse dame waren mega vriendelijk. Als je vroeg van wat zou je ons aanraden bij een tapas gerecht was de uitleg top. Gewoon echt Spaans eten in Nederland. La Barraca is niet groot dus reserveer wel van te voren anders ben je serieus te laat. Mocht je in Maastricht zijn is dit een echte aanrader!! Really nice place. It was busy, but the service was still good. And the tapas were first-rate. Delicious food and a nice bottle of wine. I would definitely recommend La Barraca, especially if you're staying in the Crowne Plaza Hotel because it's a very short walk.

We ordered three tapas, 1) Coliflor frita, deep-fried cauliflower, it was crunchy and delicious with nice thick dipping sauce (totally recommend it!); 2) Pimentos de Padrón, grilled pepper with sea salt, was savory and increasing your appetite to eat more, a good appetizier; 3) Gambas, shrimp was okay, you need to put the butter and remnants of spices to give it more flavor. The shrimps did not adequately absorb the butter. Overall, we enjoyed the tapas as appetizers.

Stumbled on this place while in Maastricht for a short break. Wow, such an amazing atmosphere with lovely friendly staff. The food was delicious and served gradually making a really lovely experience. The cocktails and the liquor coffees were simple wonderful. Whether there’s a big group or you just want a romantic meal for two (like me and my wife) this is the place to go…

Goede prijs-kwaliteit verhouding. De porties zijn voldoende groot en gewoon goed. De bediening is erg vriendelijk, werkt hard en niks lijkt hen te gek.
